"We are to praise God by tangible service, by doing all in our power to advance the glory of His name. God imparts His gifts to us that we also may give, and thus make known His character to the world.

Service to God includes personal ministry. By personal effort we are to co-operate with Him for the saving of the world. Christ's commission, 'Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature,' is spoken to every one of His followers. Mk16:15 All who are ordained unto the life of Christ are ordained to work for the salvation of their fellow men. Their hearts will throb in unison with the heart of Christ. The same longing for souls that He has felt will be manifest in them. Not all can fill the same place in the work, but there is a place and a work for all."

Christ's Object Lesson, page 300, 301

Our Lord has given everyone of us gifts that we can use to complete the work set before us. Not one person is without gifts and I say this in the plural sense, not singular. If we will but search our hearts and in prayer ask the Lord, What can I do? He will answer you with more than you may ever imagined.

We must ask, He will not lay any burden on us until we are ready and willing. So search yourself and ask Him, what can I do?

There is a vinyard waiting to be tended and time is short in the season of time of the world history. With whatever means that He has given us, let us go out into the world and do the service that He has given us to do, and that is to finish the work for the salvation of souls.

Perhaps some of you could tell us what ideas you have and suggestions for doing service for the Lord. Many of us could benefit from the knowledge of others. Or tell us of your experience in witnessing, whatever it may be, short or long, share what you have given and what you have received. The Lord's name is praised in the telling.

One easy way of being a blessing to shut-ins is simply calling them and saying a brief prayer with them. One evening a few weeks ago I called a couple of the older ladies in the church, and they were both so thankful. I didn't even need to get into my car or spend money!

Craig:

Thank you. Just pushing a few buttons on the phone and talking and sharing a prayer with someone can mean the world to someone else.

There are many forms of shut-ins. People who have left the church and have shut-in themselves by not going to church and miss the blessings from fellowshiping with others on Sabbath.

For whatever pain or reasons that they have cut themselves off from the church, all it takes is pushing a few buttons on the phone and talking with them and having prayer.

Let us ever keep all these brethren in our thoughts and prayers.

Thank you again Craig for sharing this wonderful experience with us.

There are so many ways of witnessing. Once when I was working in a bakery I had a supervisor that had gotten one of those Great Controversy's that Wheeling was passing out for some years. We had a lot of good conversations and he told me that he was convicted that White (he thought she was a man) was right. I'm no longer in the same town but I keep him in my prayers.

I also think it might not be a bad idea to get up a web site that illustrates all the beliefs of the SDA church.

I have found that by following God's leading, even if it is where and for what I don't want, He will develop gifts I didn't know I had.  We went to China against our will--we were planning on going to Russia.  Going into teaching was not my idea.  I went to the school I taught at as a last minute call.  I started the MOPS group here though I don't see myself having leadership skills.  In each of these areas, God has led and blessed.  I now also volunteer twice a month at the neighborhood community center in my town, because I can walk there, and I can take the boys along.  It is run by Christians, but in chit-chat, I can bring in my SDA view of world events or whatever we're talking about.  I view a lot of the things I do as giving people a face to Adventism, so that if they do have questions about Sunday/Sabbath, or any other issues, they know someone they're friendly with whom they can ask.

Hi Michelle:

I like that, "A face to Adventism".  That is what the world needs to see, Christ in us, reaching a world that has lost so much of the beautiful parts of the Bible.

These present truths, such as the Sanctuary, the Sabbath, the State of the Dead, etc., all are "a face to Adventism" which we have been given by God for the world.

Thank you,

Liane
