The world is indeed getting ready for the anti-Christ. If it were possible, even the very elect would be deceived. We need to stay close to Jesus and the Bible.

Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.

My aunt believes this left behind theroy and sent the movie to my Dad, who sent it to me.  I had a really hard time watching it.  But it did leave me with a lot of questions.

Where do they get the 7 years from?
Where do they get the 10 nations controlling the world food?

Can anyone answer these for me.

Thank you

Hi Amy, glad to see you here! :)

I'll let someone more knowledgeable answer, but just wanted to say how glad I am to see you posting. :)

God bless,
Wendy

I have no doubt that God considers you to be one of His friends; otherwise He would not trust you with so many crosses, sufferings and humiliations. Crosses are God's means of drawing souls closer to Himself.

Amy~

I'm not an expert but I've read the book and I like to study prophecy.

I believe that they get the ten regions from the ten toes of the statue in Daniel's first prophecy. I think the 7 year period comes from Daniel 9:27.

"And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease, and for the overspreadings of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate."

It's interesting that they choose to use the day-for a year principle here but ignore it elswere. This prophecy actually is talking about the Messiah. The covenant he confirmed is the covenant that he made with the Jewish people when he gave them the sanctuary service and promised that the Messiah would come from among them. When Jesus was 30 He began his minitry to Israel, 3 years later in the middle of the week He was killed and fufilled His role the sacrifice hence the sacrifice and oblation was caused to cease. It was during the rest of the week that the Jews were given a chance to repent but at the close of the seven years their probation was closed and they were doomed to desolation as a nation.

"Left Behind interprets the covenant as the covenant that the antichrist makes with the world after the rapture. That's why in the book and the movie, the 7 year period doesn't begin with the rapture but with the UN's treaty. I think about halfway through the time period the antichrist is suppose to be killed and it has something to do with the sacrifice and oblation ceasing. It's also after the time that the antichrist is killed that disasters get even worse to fulfill the 'consummation, and that determined shall be poured out on the desolate'. I'm not certain about the last part because I could only manage to get through two of the books before it got to be too much for me.

All in all I find it vaguely disturbing that they put the antichrist in the place in prophecy that Christ holds.

Hello Sister Amy.  :)  Welcome.  I am sure that someone has taken it upon themselves to try and better understand the reasoning even though it is faulty. I do not try and discuss the error, so I can't help you. Generally I meet those that believe this way on common ground. If they love Jesus, then I can talk about Christ and the gospel.  It would be good for us to know a little about the failure of the teaching in case we have to deal with it. I think that most of us will escape this though.  :)

Again, welcome. I hope someone will answer your questions.

Wendy-

Thank you for anwering my questions.  I usually do not worry to much about false teachings, but this topic hits really hard in my family.  Both sides of my family were rasied adventist.  Only my Father and his one of his sisters and myself remain.  So when I get hit with these things, It is hard for me to answer back if I do not know where they are getting it from the Bible.  It is sad because so many people who believe  in the rapture do not know where it is.  They do not know where the 7 years is from or the 10 nations.  They just tell me "well my pastor says this is true, so I believe it"  Thank you for pointing me in the right direction so I can show them where it is and what we believe about it.
