AZ Senator: Church attendance should be mandatory
« on: March 28, 2015, 01:34:54 PM »
Mandatory church attendance.

An Arizona state senator thinks it is a good idea for the American people.

State Sen. Sylvia Allen, R-Snowflake, brought it up during a committee meeting Tuesday while lawmakers were debating a gun bill concerning concealed weapons permits, not religion.

O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. O Lord, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing. Jeremiah  10:23-24

Someone needs to acquaint that woman with the depth of her ignorance.

That was my thought and some are. What seems like a hair brained comment to many now,.... will be largely adopted as a good thing by most as the morals continue to fall to a fearful low. She said later that this was a flippant comment. No it was not. She was dead serious.

Cp, you echo my thoughts when I read that. People may dismiss her idea as a crackpot idea but she is only echoing what others are already thinking. Her "flippant" will probably encourage others and this idea may soon gain ground. Especially as things get worse.

Yet this very class put forth the claim that the fast-spreading corruption is largely attributable to the desecration of the so-called “Christian Sabbath,” and that the enforcement of Sunday observance would greatly improve the morals of society.(DARKNESS BEFORE DAWN 32)

Yes. That is precisely what she is calling for and we know it is coming. That is not what set me off. Her suggestions fly in the face of the oath she took as a U.S. Senator to uphold the Constitution of the United States. As a Tea Party member, one would think her loyalty to the Constitution would trump her personal religious opinion but obviously, it doesn't. Those in her camp who purport to have a knowledge of God, which she does, are the very ones who will gladly trample upon the religious rights of everyone while thinking they are doing a good moral thing.

Ms. Allen is a senator in the Arizona State Legislature. I don't know what kind of oath state senators have to take. Obviously, she sees no conflict with the constitution in calling for mandatory Sunday worship.

I doubt if she even gave the constitution a thought. She has a kindergarten mentality.  Not enough church = bad people. Make people go to church= good people. That kind of small picture thinking is what gets people persecuted and killed.  She is implying that she was not serious.  It was clear however that she was not joking either. She could have made her point about encouraging worship 20 other ways without even implying the use of legal force.
