Harold Camping and Family Radio have deceived multitudes of precious souls that judgment day is May 21, just eleven days away. From some, it will be judgment day, they will have seared the heart until God cannot reach them. Some will die just as many are dying without salvation today and tomorrow. For them we could say the God has allowed Satan to render a judgment against the sinner. But, Harold Camping is teaching that the righteous shall be "raptured" on May 21, 2011, and those left upon the earth will face "judgment day." Such a deception.
As Seventh-day Adventists, we have a knowledge of the soon coming of Jesus. The Bible is clear that we may know the nearness of this great day. The disciples of Christ had asked the question, “What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” Jesus gave them signs, and said, “When ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.” See Matthew 24:3, 33, 42-51. One saying of the Saviour must not be made to destroy another. Though no man knoweth the day nor the hour of his coming, we are instructed and required to know when it is near. We are further taught that to disregard his warning, and refuse or neglect to know when his advent is near, will be as fatal for us, as it was for those who lived in the days of Noah not to know when the flood was coming. And the parable in the same chapter contrasting the faithful and the unfaithful servant, and giving the doom of him who said in his heart, “My Lord delayeth his coming,” shows in what light Christ will regard and reward those whom he finds watching, and teaching his coming, and those denying it. “Watch therefore,” he says; “blessed is that servant, whom his Lord when he cometh shall find so doing.” “If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on these as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.” Revelation 3:3.
Paul speaks of a class to whom the Lord's appearing will come unawares. “The day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, . . . and they shall not escape.” But he adds, to those who have given heed to the Saviour's warning, “Ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day; we are not of the night, nor of darkness.” 1 Thessalonians 5:2-5. The second coming of Christ is not May 21, but it is going to be soon!!
The fifth chapter of Revelation needs to be closely studied. It is of great importance to those who shall act a part in the work of God for these last days. There are some who are deceived. They do not realize what is coming on the earth. Those who have permitted their minds to become beclouded in regard to what constitutes sin are fearfully deceived. Unless they make a decided change they will be found wanting when God pronounces judgment upon the children of men. They have transgressed the law and broken the everlasting covenant, and they will receive according to their works.
"And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; and the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; and said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of Him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: for the great day of His wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?" Revelation 6:12-17.
