So these people are still at it huh Sybil? You'd think they would have learned by now. Oh I forgot, money talks, pet's health walks. I went through that whole 2003-2007 pet food poisoning ordeal involving many pet food companies and melamine from China, George Bush and Monsanto connection. I hear by the way they are STILL putting melamine in a lot of foods to falsify the protein content.

I don't doubt it, Carl. What a mess. The brand name alone on this recall is one of the most idiotic I have ever seen. "Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul." What a crock full of new age branding.

I wonder where all these diseases are coming from? unsanitary conditions? incompetent workers? Even in human food, Salmonella, ecoli, listeria and there must be more. Everything, everybody is becoming untrustworthy these days.

Being a pet owner, I really worry about their food. It's bad enough meat being contaminated with disease, without having to worry about preventable bacteria diseases.

I know, us, too. This was quite a wave of recalls! Time to begin cooking for our animals if this maintains.

Solid Gold is voluntarily recalling the products below, distributed in the United States and Canada. This voluntary recall is being done out of an abundance of caution as these products were produced at the facility that has been linked to recent recalls of Diamond brand pet foods due to potential Salmonella contamination.

Individuals handling dry pet food can become infected with Salmonella, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with surfaces exposed to this product. People who believe they may have been exposed to Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. According to the Centers for Disease Control, people who are more likely to be affected by Salmonella include infants, children younger than 5 years old, organ transplant patients, people with HIV/AIDS and people receiving treatment for cancer.

Yes Sybil, I would cook for my kitties in a minute IF I could make something they would eat. I'd have to supplement it with vitamins though. Might be worth another try, I have a bad suspicion pet foods must have some horrible things in it.

The animals that are unfit for human consumption end up in pet food. Since we understand that the disease in animals has made it dangerous to eat any animal product, we can imagine the danger from eating the discarded product.

Meat and bonemeal is especially dangerous from my understanding. I will not buy any pet food with that in it. I will not buy pet food with cow or lamb, but are at risk for Mad Cow or Scrapie.  It is a health risk to humans also who handle pet food. Better to not come in contact with the food.

Some wonder why a strict vegetarian could come down with Alzheimers, cancer, or CJD.  There other ways of being infected without eating animal products.
Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is investigating the presence of elevated, potentially toxic levels of vitamin D in several dry pet foods.
Fast Facts

The FDA is alerting pet owners and veterinary professionals about recalls of several dry dog foods after receiving complaints that dogs eating the food experienced vitamin D toxicity.
Testing found that samples of the dog food contained excessive, potentially toxic amounts of vitamin D. Vitamin D is an essential nutrient for dogs, but very high amounts can cause serious health problems like kidney failure or death.
At this time, the only pet products that have been impacted are food made for dogs.
Pet owners should discontinue feeding these recalled products.
The FDA is asking veterinarians who suspect vitamin D toxicity in their patients to report them through the Safety Reporting Portal or by calling their local FDA Consumer Complaint Coordinators. Pet owners can also report suspect cases to the FDA.
This is a developing situation and additional recalls may be announced.
