Fatty Meats Bad for Breasts

Obese women who ate a lot of animal fat and protein had the highest risk of breast cancer in a study in Hawaii. Epidemiologists from the University of Hawaii asked 272 postmenopausal women who had been treated for breast tumors how often they ate 43 foods in a usual week. They compared their answers with those of 296 women who lived in the same area but were cancer-free.

When the numbrrs were analyzed, the researchers found the most significant association between breast cancer and eating sausage, especially in obese women. The risk was also higher for obese women who  generally ate a lot of meat, including processed cold cuts, beef, lamb and whole milk dairy products. --Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, May-June 1992

Other research confirms these findings: A study from Uruguay, South America, where people eat lots of meat, found that women who ate the most meat had over 3 times the risk of breast cancer as those eating the least. Women eating the most red meat had 4 times the risk. And fried meat was the absolute worst--the top consumers had 5 times the risk of this form of cancer. --International Journal of Epidemiology, January 26, 1996

And other studies show that cheese was associated with a 43% increase of breast cancer. Indeed, S.D.A. vegetarian women who eat lots of dairy products have about the same rate of this cancer as do Americans in general. The fat in these products, as well as various  estrogens, other chemical contaminants and growth-promoting substances are suspected villains. --Good Medicine, Winter 1997, Vol. 6, No. 1

On the other hand, study after study indicates the ultra diet for healthy breast is one that includes plenty of antioxidant rich fresh fruits and vegetables. While all fruits and vegetables are superstars in preventing disease, some deserve top billing against breast cancer.

Deeply colored fruits and veggies--green, yellow, orange and red--with the rich stores of beta and other carotenes, folate and phytochemicals are especially protective.

Compounds in oranges, grapefruit and tangerines can help stop breast cancer cell growth. --Nutrition and Cancer, Vol. 26, No. 2, 1996. Nor should the crucifer family be overlooked--cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and Brussels sprouts...High fiber whole grains should be included as well as soy products, chickpeas, lentils, limas and the many varieties of other beans. "If we halve our fat consumption and double our fiber intake, you could predict up to 50% less breast cancer in this country," according to Leonard Cohen, Ph.D., cell biologist at the American Health Foundation in New York. --Prevention, May 1992

Many studies have shown that the antioxidant vitamins and minerals--including vitamins A,C,E and selenium--are most clearly identified with breast cancer protection. These nutrients as found in fresh fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains and supplements, protect the body against harmful free radicals that attack cell membranes and damage DNA. Women with low selenium and vitamin E levels (they work best together) had 10 times greater risk of developing breast cancer. --Let's Live, February 1991. Indeed, Nobel laureate, Linus Pauling's research showed that patients with cancers of the breast, ovaries, uterus and cervix had a life expectancy 20 times longer when they took vitamins and minerals. --Let's Live, March 1994. Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), a vitamin-like substance with antioxidant properties, involved in energy metabolism, is likewise beneficial in protecting the breast.

Garlic has been shown to stop human breast cells from becoming cancerous. This according to researchers at New York's Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center can be accompolished by eating 1/2 to one clove several times a week. Other researchers found all garlic--raw, cooked, powder, extract or capsules--equally effective in this process.

"Breast cancer is essentially a dietary disease, just as lung cancer is essentially a smoking-related disease," says Robert Kradjian, MD., a breast surgeon for nearly 30 years and author of "Save Yourself From Breast Cancer."  "If you want to avoid breast cancer, then learn to live like billions of women on this earth who will avoid the disease. Eat as the women in protected countries do--a diet high in protective vegetables, fruits and fiber--a plant based diet." --EarthSave, Winter, 1996/7, vol. 7, No. 4.

Physical activity (exercise) rounds out a complete program of breast cancer prevention. Women who exercise at least 4 hours a week or have physically demanding jobs, have a significantly reduced risk of breast cancer, according to a study in the New England Journal of Medicine, May 1, 1997. This in agreement with other studies showing that physically active women fare better in avoiding various cancers.

Dear Sister Suzanne,

This is GREAT information that we can never see too much of.

The Cancer Research Institute reviewed over 4000 dietary studies and published their findings about 2 years ago. They concluded that nearly 70% of cancers in general are preventable.

We have to realize that commercial medicine benefits from the treatment of disease, not Prevention.

The take home point...If SDA's are not preaching it, who will? I encourage you to keep posting these very important messages.

In the Blessed Hope

More breast cancer info:

Among a group of women with a family history of breast cancer, those who began eating more vegetables and less beef and pork has less damage to their DNA, the genetic material that controls the function of all the cells. There is strong evidence that damaged DNA leads to cancer.

For this study (the Women's Healthy Eating and Living study), women were asked to eat 5 servings of vegetables, 16 oz. of fresh vegetable juice and 3 servings of fruit a day. The strongest protection came from cooked veggies--possibly because the vegetables we usually cook tend to be the most nutrient-dense, ie., sweet potatoes, carrots, brussels sprouts and of course broccoli. --Journal of the American Dietetic Association, May 1998.

Good health to all.

A Stroll in the Sun May Save Your Breast

Researchers who analyzed health data on nearly 5,000 women found that breast cancer risk in women who reported getting the most sun exposure was 30 to 40 percent lower than the risk among women who got the least sun. A similar reduction of risk was found in women who lived in sunny climes. (Study presented at the Dept. of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program Meeting, Nov. 1997).

Of course, prolonged, unprotected exposure to sunlight has been frowned upon as of late because of the damage to the ozone.

The researchers brought out that while the exact dosage of sunlight needed for optimum health is unknown it is indeed  prudent to get some daily to benefit from the sun's cancer-fighting power.

Inspiration: "Pure air, sunlight, abstemiousness, rest, exercise, proper diet, the use of water, trust in divine power--these are the true remedies. Every person should have a knowledge of nature's remedial agencies and how to apply them. It is essential both to understand the principles involved in the treatment of the sick and to have a practical training that will enable one rightly to use this knowledge." --Ministry of Healing, p. 127.

Healthfully yours,
Sr. Suzanne

Well, here we go again,--another study contradicting what has previously been shown regarding how to prevent and treat a well known health problem.

The February 14, 2001, issue of the Riverside Calif. Press-Enterprise pointed out that a large Harvard study has found that eating a diet high in fruits and vegetables failed to lower women's risk of developing the dreaded breast cancer. The researchers found this to be puzzling, since a high fruit-and-vegetable diet has proven beneficial in heart disease and some kinds of cancer. Details of the study are published in the current "Journal of the American Medical Association.

Let's explore further the role diet plays in this malady. It is indeed instructive to call to mind how Dr. Loraine Day dealt with her breast cancer. She made the most interesting observation that she did not get relief with just the diet aspect of the treatment but had to implement ALL of the 8 laws of health as advocated by the "Spirit of Prophecy."  These include proper diet, rest, exercise, getting pure air and  sunlight, abstemiousness, use of water and trust in divine power. Each has its place and must be implemented in a TOTAL PROGRAM involving the true remedies for this or any other problem.

Some aspects of the total program:

* Eliminating all meat and animal products. This has been addressed in previous posts and cannot be overemphasized. Then too, these items have to be replaced by lots of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes and nuts, which provide fiber, phytochemicals, and various other known and unknown nutrients that fight cancer and other maladies.

* Getting adequate exercise has also been addressed, as has the importance of sunlight.

* Another important point. A pilot study reported that the odds of developing breast cancer were reduced by 79 percent on average among those who drank an adequate amount of water each day. Remember the 8-eight ounce glasses a day rule. --Environmental Health Perspectives (1995) 103 Suppl 8:225-231.

* And yes, avoiding certain substances is a vital point. Alcohol, cigarette smoking (and secondhand smoke), sugar, hair dye, and  pesticides have all been implicated in this dread disease...

Synthetic chemicals have been slowly infiltrating our environment for over 50 years. Now startling evidence shows chemical pesticides may be a primary culprit in the rise of cancer incidence.

* Constipation is likewise involved, as well as blue moods, depression and low self-esteem. Studies show tha feelings of helplessness are linked with the progression of breast cancer.

* The other laws of health are indeed important and don't forget to trust in divine power. This may be the most important of all. Let the Lord direct you to your pathway to wellness and healing.

"Without a knowledge of health principles, no one is fitted for life's responsibilities."

To Borrow a coined term, the 8 Laws are :
"Good Health In One Package" but here is another perspective on Breast Cancer :

Burn Your Bra, Revisited
A new study shows that wearing a bra is linked to higher incidence of breast cancer. Women who wear a bra 24 hours a day are 125 times a likely to develop cancer as women who donąt wear one at all, according to medical anthropologists Sydney Ross Singer and Soma Grismaijer. In a study involving 4,700 women, those who never wore a bra had the same incidence of breast cancer as men a rare condition. Women who wore bras for more than 12 hours but did not sleep in them had 21 times the risk as women who wore a bra for less than 12 hours.
It is postulated that lymphatic vessels are blocked by the bra, keeping lymphocytes (white blood cells) from their role in destroying abnormal cells, and leading to malignancies. However, even without knowing the exact mechanism, the correlation is significant: 4 to 12 times as great as the connection between smoking and lung cancer. Singer and Grismaijerąs book, Dressed to Kill: The Link Between Breast Cancer and Bras, elaborates on their research.
The new drug Tamoxifen, which is getting a lot of attention in the press as a cancer preventative, also increases the risk of ovarian and uterine cancer, fatal blood clots, and cataracts. Clearly, pharmaceuticals will not prevent cancer and are likely to increase risk. Lifestyle changes offer important protections, but they donąt put money in manufacturersą pockets.
The research raises an interesting question. Women with large breasts are more likely to find it difficult to go without a bra, which leads to some conjecture about the possible correlation between breast size and breast cancer. The authors suggest that more studies are needed.

Before you go and throw out your Bra, consider this.
The study did not differentiate on the type of materiall used for a Bra which could change the results significantly. Some information I read a while ago suggested (based on a brief study)that the synthetic materials which do not "breathe" hold more heat in the area which is also one of the possible causes of breast cancer. This is even true for men's under clothing and prostate cancer, similiar situation. As the writer said, more study is required.

Sorry I don't have the info at hand but I recently heard of a study showing a decreased chance of breast cancer among women who breastfeed their babies, with those nursing their children the longest showing the greatest risk reduction.  I am sure that more info could be found through the La Leche League web site.

Juju,
welcome aboard TRO. Yes, there was a report on the reduction of the incedence in BReast Cancer with women who breast fed at least 3-4 months. The results were more consistent with women who breast fed 6-12 months. This period I found consistent with the child's development of lipase and amylase a twhich time breast feeding should stop anyway.

Here is the link for anyone who wants to read the full report from Cornell University.

May 1999 Fact Sheet #29
PROGRAM ON BREAST CANCER AND ENVIRONMENTAL RISK FACTORS IN NEW YORK STATE (BCERF)

How might breast-feeding influence the risk of breast cancer?

There are several ways that breast-feeding may influence the risk of developing breast cancer. Breast-feeding may

Cause hormonal changes, such as a decrease in the level of estrogen. Lower levels of estrogen may decrease a woman's risk of developing breast cancer.
Suppress ovulation. According to some studies, women who have fewer ovulatory cycles over the course of their reproductive lives may have a decreased risk of developing breast cancer.
Remove possible carcinogens that are stored in the adipose tissue of the breast (see web site for more information).
Cause physical changes in the cells that line the mammary ducts. These changes may make the cells more resistant to mutations that can lead to cancer.

More info on breast-feeding.

Newsweek, Feb. 26, 2001. "The Breast Is Best"

Is further proof needed of the value of mother's milk? It is common knowledge that breast-feeding helps children avoid infections and probably develop smarter brains. Now a new study in "The Lancet" shows that it might also help prevent heart disease, by keeping blood pressure lower later in life.

English researchers examined 130 children between the ages of 13 and 16, born prematurely in a London hospital and monitored closely ever since. The 66 children who had been fed breast milk had a mean arterial-blood-pressure rate 4 points lower than the kids who'd been fed formula as preemies.

The researchers don't know why formula leads to such significantly higher blood pressure, and say it's not due to excess sodium or fat in the mix. (I wonder). Further studies need to be done of full-term babies to see if the difference between milk and formula still holds. But the study is more evidence that breast milk is not only the cheapest but also the healthiest food for babies.

One more thought.  If a baby is not breast fed, then most babies in this group will be drinking milk from cows, goats, and other animals. Much of this milk is infected with cancer.

More info on Breast Cancer....

Babies are not the only ones who benefit from breast feeding. A new report confirms what medical researchers have long believed: that nursing can protect women from breast cancer--the longer, the better.

According to the study in Lancet, every year a woman breast-feeds she cuts her lifetime risk of developing breast cancer by 4.3 percent. British researchers studied 50,000 women with breast cancer and 100,000 healthy volunteers in 30 countries. "This is pretty convincing," says the National Cancer Institute's Louise Brinton. Scientists believe breast-feeding may change hormone levels or the breast tissue, increasing cancer resistance.  --U.S. News & World Report, July 29, 2002.

The Cancer-Protective Power of Water

Drinking enough water has been found to quell hunger pangs, improve mental and physical performance, enhance the function of nearly every organ, and much more. And medical scientists have found that low-water intake is a risk factor for certain types of cancer: colon, breast and cancers of the urinary tract.

Registered dietitian and popular nutrition author Susan M. Kleiner, Ph.D., has studied and written extensively on the health benefits of water. She notes "the more fluid you drink, the faster you flush the toxins and carcinogenic substances out of the body, and the less chance for them to be reabsorbed into the body or concentrated long enough at the site to cause tissue change."

And a most interesting pilot study shows that the odds of developing breast cancer were reduced by 79 percent on average among water drinkers. "In this case, possibly maintaining a dilute solution within the cells reduces the potency of estrogen and its ability to cause hormone-related cancers," Kleiner notes. --adapted from Let's Live, July 2000.

Trouble Ahead!

Teenage girls eating the typical American high-fat diet have an increased risk of breast cancer later in life, according to a study by the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. High-fat diets (McDonald's, Burger King, etc.) increase blood levels of estrogen and progesterone, hormones often linked to breast cancer. Even a small reduction in daily fat intake--about 6 percent--can help reduce these risks significantly.  --adapted from the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Jan. 15, 2003.

Exercise Cuts Breast Cancer Risk

Brisk walking for an hour or two weekly does much to help older women reduce their risk of breast cancer, even if they have used Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for symptoms of menopause, a study found.

These findings are based on data from a landmark study that linked HRT to breast cancer, heart attacks and strokes. The research suggest that exercise may help counteract--but not cancel out--the slightly increased risk of breast cancer faced by long term HRT users, said lead researcher Dr. Anne McTiernan of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.

This study also found that the exercise need not be super strenuous for women to reap substantial health benefits. And benefits occur even if exercise is begun relatively late in life.

"We thought it important to determine if moderate intensity physical activities, such as walking, biking outdoors or easy swimming, when initiated later in life, can reduce the risk of breast cancer since these types of activities are achievable for most women," declared Dr. McTiernan. --These findings appear in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Preventing Breast Cancer
Second Edition: 1996
April 5, 1998:

Thoughts on x-rays

Past exposure to ionizing radiation --- primarily medical x-rays --- is responsible for about 75 percent of the breast-cancer problem in the United States.
The good news: Since the radiation dosage given today by medical procedures can be significantly reduced without interfering with a single useful procedure, numerous future cases of breast-cancer can be prevented.
The author recommends specific actions to start breast-cancer prevention now, not ten years from now. - 1. Bottom line: The recent increase in breast-cancer incidence is not a mystery. About 75 % of annual incidence is caused by earlier exposure to ionizing radiation, primarily medical x-rays.
- 2. This finding is very good news for women and their families. Knowing that the major cause of a serious disease is preventable represents an enormous step toward controlling the number of future cases of the disease.
- 3. The task is not to reject medical uses of radiation, which are often very beneficial for women. The task is for everyone --- most especially women and their physicians --- to get busy providing those benefits with vastly less harm.
- 4. Radiation dose-levels from mammography have already been reduced by 30-fold compared with doses twenty-five years ago. This study makes it clear that it would be criminal not to make the same serious effort to reduce unnecessarily high doses in other radiation procedures. The author, John W. Gofman, M.D., Ph.D

There is no doubt that ionizing radiation is a proven cause of human breast-cancer; the evidence on this was clear years ago. Everyone should always include ionizing radiation in lists of proven "risk-factors" for breast-cancer.

The key to preventing breast-cancer is to remove one of the necessary co-actors. Ionizing radiation is a major, proven, preventable cause of this disease. Every reduction in radiation dose is guaranteed to prevent a number of cases which would otherwise occur.
- 10. "It is time to use this knowledge, instead of just wringing our hands over the breast-cancer problem. Because of the long and variable incubation time of radiation-induced breast-cancer, cases which will be diagnosed 10 to 50 years from today are being generated now," says Dr. Gofman. So the author urges the medical professions and breast-cancer groups to give a lot more than just lip-service to reducing unnecessarily high doses. "The radiation doses from mammography would never have gone down 30-fold from lip-service alone."

Suzanne, Thank you for all the info on Breast Cancer.  I emailed the entire page 1 to my daughter who is going in for testing of breast cancer.  Everyone in my family has had their problem with cancer except me, and I praise God because of it, even with my overweight. But there is no excuse for being over-weight.  As EGW stated many times; no self-denial, not having temperance, over-eating are the hardest to over-come and will keep us out of heaven.

My weight is coming down again, after this last battle of trials, and I praise God for it. BUT, being a vegan vegetarian is still the answer on why we don't have the diseases as those eating the diet of the world. I have claimed God's promise in Exodus 15:26, "....I will put none of these diseases upon thee...."

Amen Sister Ele,
It don't always turn out that way due to things that run in ones family....but even that would be so much worse if we ate wrong. I was listening to a ad on tv the other day for statan drugs and they said that diet was not of any help and those that went that way did not get the Cholesterol down. They did tell some simptoms of taking the drug but never mentioned that they take the Q10 out of our body that is so needed to protect the heart. If one has to take the statan drugs to get the Cholesterol down be sure and take 100mg. of Q10 a day to replace what is lost. Even that don't take care it totally, nor can it replace as well, what the body naturally makes. Carol has a good diet and is one of "very few" that has high Cholesterol anyway. But for most diet will help and should be used. I know if we did not watch Carol's diet her Cholesterol would go much higher. I hope that in time we can get her off these drugs. But I am so greatful I researched it and found out about the Q10 loss. We need to keep up on these things if for some reason we need to take these things.

She also mentioned that even daily EXERCISE alone, as walking, will reduce cholesterol and reduce glucose in Diabetics. And, as  Suzanne mentioned it is important  even  for those  fighting  Breast Cancer. Many of our Doctors also, I have read mention the importance of exercise for all diseases. Do you walk much with Carol?  Walking is the best exercise for all ages.

Walk Away From Cancer

Much research shows that exercise helps reduce the risk of breast and other cancers. Now, new findings from the Nurses' Health Study suggest that physical activity also lowers mortality among women with breast cancer, whether or not the disease is diagnosed early or after the cancer has spread.

"After my mastectomies I got right out there and started walking," says one 43 year-old cancer survivor, who now works out 4 hours a week. "Women with breast cancer have little to lose and much to gain from exercise," according to lead investigator Michelle D. Holmes, MD, DrPH, of Harvard Medical School.

The greatest benefit occurred among women who walked 3 to 5 hours a week at an average pace. While exercise is no substitute for medical treatment and many often be difficult for exhausted cancer patients, it is "something women can do that doesn't involve drugs and side effects," notes Debbie Saslow of the American Cancer Society. "Certainly no one is going to blame a woman for what she doesn't do," she adds. "But if you can [exercise], this [study] says you might benefit."

"Women don't have to run marathons," says Dr. Holmes, whose findings suggest that hormonal factors play a role. "The most logical explanation is that physical activity lowers hormone levels, and the lower hormone levels reduce the chance of [cancer] recurrence," she explains. --Source: JAMA, May 25, 2005 and www.voanews.com.

Water Has Almost Miraculous Health Benefits

It even helps prevent breast and other cancers. Indeed, several studies--including ones out of Harvard and Ohio State universities--suggest this single step can cut the risk of breast cancer by 33%, colon cancer by 45% and bladder cancer by 49%.

"By drinking lots of water, you replenish the lymphatic fluids that carry away the cellular waste products that can lead to cancer-causing free radical damage," explains Steve Meyerowitz, author of Water: The Ultimate Cure. Six glasses a day are suggested. --Woman's World, July 17, 2007.

Much cancer comes from eating and drinking cancer virus from animals.

UC Berkely found bovine Leukemia Virus in the breast tissue of about half of the breast cancer patients in the study.

The best way to prevent breast cancer is to keep the cancer virus out of your body. An ounce of prevention is worth about 5 tons of cure.

Title: Breast Cancer

God loves us!  He knows the end from the very beginning.  It is late in the day and too many suffer because we have not done our job. God gave us a tool to reach out to the world, the right arm of the gospel, the health message. In that message we were given a lot of light. Two of the important truths entrusted to us as a people are that germs cause cancer and that the diseases of animals, including cancer, is transmitted to people through eating flesh and eggs, and drinking milk. This information was given to us over a hundred years ago with the warning that "soon" there would be no safety in eating eggs and milk because disease was increasing rapidly in animals. "Soon" came many years ago.

Today, in many countries dairy cows are infected with Bovine Leukemia Virus (BLV). Yes, a Leukemia virus!  And yes, it does indeed cause cancer in the cows. What is done with the cows that have this virus? They are milked until there is a danger that they will produce tumors, then they are butchered. They are milked until then and in their milk is the Bovine Leukemia Virus. Not all cows in most dairies have the virus, but the milk from infected and not infected cows is mixed together. Much of the dairy in many countries contains Bovine Leukemia Virus.

Is this enough information for most to take heed to the risk? No. Most will continue to feed their children dairy products even knowing this. It is the result of a fallen human nature and a corrupt education. The information I am sharing is easily found, it is not hidden from view any more than Mad Cow Disease is.

Why do I choose to discuss dairy in this Breast Cancer topic? I think that there is evidence to suggest that a cancer virus can cause different kinds of cancer. It appears that Bovine Leukemia Virus may be able to cause breast cancer. From what I have seen, there is a good case that can be made for this connection.

There are very few medical studies that look for such a connection that I am aware of. Epidemiological studies are a good source, but they do not pinpoint the science involved. But, we have one study that I know of where the they looked for a connection between the Bovine Leukemia Virus and breast cancer. Out of 39 breast cancer patients in the study, over half had Bovine Leukemia Virus in their breast tissue.

Yes, in their breast tissue. And, it may come as a great shock to many of you that most Americans have antibodies to BLV. We have not known these things, but now we may. It is also of interest that infected cow milk can cross specie barriers. Here is a little information on two chimps that died in less than a year from Leukemia after being fed cow milk.

Erythroleukemia and Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia were diagnosed in two of six infant chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) fed from birth on unpasteurized milk from cows naturally infected with the bovine C-type virus. The chimpanzees died at 34 and 45 weeks of age after a 5 to 6-week illness characterized by lethargy, anorexia, leukocytosis, anemia, and progressive pneumonia. Blast cells and immature myeloid cells were prominent in bone marrow specimens and were present, although less conspicuous, in peripheral blood smears. At autopsy, both animals showed infiltration of neoplastic cells in the bone marrow, spleen, lymph nodes, and, to a much lesser extent, in the lungs, liver, and kidneys. Four chimpanzees in the milk-fed group and all six in the control group are alive and apparently healthy. The experimental chimpanzees were all housed together, but only the two affected animals received milk during the immediate neonatal period from cow BF044, our most reliable and abundant source of bovine C-type virus. Neither leukemia nor P. carinii pneumonia has been reported previously in chimpanzees. Electron microscopic and serological studies failed to demonstrate the presence of bovine C-type virus in either the milk-fed or control animals studied. However, the two leukemic chimpanzees died before their buffy-coat cells could be examined. source

Alcohol and Breast Cancer

Even light drinking can contribute to breast cancer. A National Cancer Institute team tracked over 183,000 postmenopausal women for an average of 7 years.

Women who drank 1 or 2 alcoholic drinks a day had a 32% increased risk of the disease--and those who had 3 or more drinks a day had a whopping 51% increased risk. Less than one drink a day still led to a 7% increased risk compared to non-drinkers. Beer, wine and hard liquor all had the same impact.

Breast cancer is the second most common cancer and is the most common cancer in women. The highest incidence of breast cancer in women of any country in the world is found in the United States. Breast cancer can also occur in males as the breast tissue is composed of identical tissue but is 100 times less common. Survival rates in men are the same as in women suffering from breast cancer. Breast cancer is more common in women after they gone through the menopause but is also diagnosed in women under 50 each year. One in nine women will develop breast cancer during their life.

Thanks Br. Richard for bringing up this topic again. Indeed, this timely subject should perhaps stay near the top where it can be viewed by many.  May the Lord help our people  take heed and implement this life-saving info.

Here is other pertinent information on breast cancer:

* "In laboratory studies, insulin promotes the growth of breast cancer cells. --The National Cancer Institute.  (Diabetics taking extra insulin should do all in their power to reduce the amount required.  It can be done!)

*  A 10-year study of women with breast cancer showed that those who participated in support groups lived an average of 18 months longer than those who did not. --Los Angeles Times, April 8, 1996.

*  Smoking, even passive smoking (secondhand smoke) increases the risk of this cancer, according to research from Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health.

EarthSave, Winter 1996, - "Breast cancer is perhaps the end-produce of a lifetime of insults to the system.  Diet may well make the difference between promotion or prevention of the disease."

*  Some research suggests that chlorinated drinking water may be a major factor in breast cancer. --Vegetarian Times, July 1997.

* Monounsaturated fat in the diet--found in canola and olive oils--appears to cut the risk of breast cancer in half.  --Time, January 19, 1998.

*  Underfeeding, completely prevents breast cancer in animals prone to its development.

*  Breast tissue contains large amounts of fat, which is especially prone to free radical damage.  Vitamin E, a most powerful fat soluble quencher of free radicals should be emphasized.

*  A high fiber diet helps balance the female hormone estrogen which helps reduce the risk of breast cancer.  --Prevention, July 1999.

*  This info, along with that given previously should be prayerfully and carefully considered.

An Herbal Breakthrough

Black cohosh, a plant in the buttercup family, has been shown to stop the growth of some breast cancer cells, according to new research conducted by a French pharmaceutical company and funded in part by the National Institutes of Health.

Researchers attribute the cancer-cell death to the agent triterpene glycoside, which is found in black cohosh extract.... --Health.com Dec. 2008.

Comment: Black cohosh is available at the health food store, as well as certain mail-order companies.

Smoking Raises Breast Cancer Risk

Smoking causes lung cancer and is implicated in a dozen other cancers.  Evidence from new studies strongly suggests that smoking increases the risk of breast cancer and warns that girls and young women faced special risks from exposure to smoke.  For them, even exposure to second hand smoke during this critical period of development may increase the risk of breast cancer later in life.

More than this the Canadian panel of experts reports strong evidence that secondhand smoke contributes to pre-menopausal breast cancer.  This report is a summary of the panelists' review of the evidence. The Canadian panel was convened by the Ontario Tobacco Research Unit at the University of Toronto and financed by the Public Health Agency of Canada.  --Riverside California's Press-Enterprise, April 24, 2009.

Cut Breast Cancer Death Risk in Half

Nearly 40,000 women die every year from breast cancer, and 180,000 will be newly diagnosed this year. But there's a simple way to lower your risk of death from this disease: exercise. 5 hours a week of walking (or any moderate aerobic workout) reduces your risk by more than half, according to another study from the University of South Carolina.

And just 20 minutes a day cuts the risk by a third. Researchers call their study, involving over 14,000 women, the first to objectively connect fitness levels and the risk of dying from breast cancer. Will exercise cut your chances of getting the disease in the first place? Other studies say yes--by about 20%. --Health, June 2009.

Comment: While this is not new, it indeed bears repeating!

Discovery of gene in aggressive spread of cancer
Breast examination Scientists have found a gene which may trigger an aggressive form of cancer

Edinburgh scientists believe they have found a gene which triggers the spread of an aggressive form of breast cancer.

The discovery could herald new treatments for the 9,000 women affected in the UK each year.

They have been studying a disease known as HER2 positive breast cancer, which represents about 20% of all breast cancer cases.

It is an aggressive form which grows and spreads more quickly than other forms of the disease.

At the moment it is treated with the drug herceptin, which prevents the cancer cells multiplying. Scientists hope this discovery will help them develop a new treatment.

It will be interesting to see how science finally discovers the reality that many cancers are caused by germs. Yes, genetics play a part in our immunity, but if one wants to do more to prevent cancer, they may want to consider ceasing to eat Leukemia Virus.

On a continual basis I share the truth that most all dairy is infected with Bovine Leukemia Virus in the US. It is a problem world-wide also. I am sure I have already posted in this topic that UC Berkley has an ongoing study seeking to discover if there is a  relationship between breast cancer and Bovine Leukemia Virus. Just a reminded that many of the cancer patients in the study were found to have Bovine Leukemia Virus in their breast tissue. :(  For those who may want to take some preventive measures, Google Bovine Leukemia Virus USDA Bulk Milk Tanks. 100% of the bulk milk tanks of large dairies tested in the US were found to be infected with Bovine Leukemia Virus. Small and medium sized dairies did not fare much better having over 80% of their tanks infected.

When I share this truth with those not of our faith, they are all appreciative of the information. Some have changed their diet to eliminate dairy products and have reaped very good results with their health.

Vast Study Casts Doubts on Value of Mammograms

By GINA KOLATAFEB. 11, 2014

Nearly 75 percent of American women 40 and over say they had a mammogram in the past year. Damian Dovarganes/Associated Press

One of the largest and most meticulous studies of mammography ever done, involving 90,000 women and lasting a quarter-century, has added powerful new doubts about the value of the screening test for women of any age.

It found that the death rates from breast cancer and from all causes were the same in women who got mammograms and those who did not. And the screening had harms: One in five cancers found with mammography and treated was not a threat to the woman’s health and did not need treatment such as chemotherapy, surgery or radiation.

The study, published Tuesday in The British Medical Journal, is one of the few rigorous evaluations of mammograms conducted in the modern era of more effective breast cancer treatments. It randomly assigned Canadian women to have regular mammograms and breast exams by trained nurses or to have breast exams alone.

The Study from The British Medical Journal (http://www.bmj.com/content/348/bmj.g366)
According to Dr. John McDougal, the same can be said of mastectomys as well as heart by passes, stints, etc.  During the time he lived and practiced medicine in Hawaii, he succeeded in getting a law passed the required all physicians to fully inform potential mastectomy or lumpectomy patients as to not only any potential problems with the surgery, but complete information as to outcome if they had the surgery, or if they did not have the surgery, and what benefits they could expect. Surgeons were mandated to tell their patients the truth that those surgical procedures have no benefit whatsoever on a woman's life expectancy. The only benefit is to the surgeon's bank account. Dr. McDougal said that getting that law passed cost him his practice in Hawaii. Their were two insurance companies that sold malpractice insurance and both of them were owned by physicians. He could not buy malpractice insurance. He moved back to California.

There are instances where unbelievable corruption and greed drives doctors, hospitals and large corporations that own chains of hospitals. A vivid example of this was a private, corporate owned hospital in Redding California that in the 1990s almost overnight developed a reputation as the "go to" place in Northern CA for patients who needed coronary by passes, and all of the invasive prodecures necessary to diagnose heart problems. There were two physicians, a cardiologist and a surgeon, who saw every one who came in with any symptom at all that might indicate a heart problem. The doctors routinely lied to the patients, (especially if they had good insurance) and using scare tactics convinced them that they needed an immediate by pass. Both of these doctors were aggressive and persistent. The surgeon was quoted as bragging that they did a quadruple bypass on a 24 year old. These men were ruthless criminals also hospital administrators who encouraged it, but it took 3 or 4 years to shut them down after the lone local FBI agent started an investigation.

The hospital was ultimately closed but the US Justice department declined to file criminal charges against the two doctors, even with irrefutable evidence. They got to keep their millions but they couldn't get malpractice insurance, which supposedly prevents them from practicing medicine. Neither of them were actually board certified.
The whole sordid story is documented in the book "Coronary" by Stephen Klaidman

As a side note, the investigation was finally instigated by a "free lance Roman Catholic Priest" who happened to live in the same community south of Redding where my oldest daughter use to live. I didn't know there was such a thing as a "free lance priest," but he is an American who was ordained by John Paul II and makes a lot of money filling in for Priests who needed to be gone for awhile, and for any other occasion that one might need a priest. He is completely on his own. He can charge whatever he wants to for his services.

I think there is value in this study. Some cancers are discovered, but the radiology is invasive. And, treatments are done that need not have been done because of false positives. Then what is to be done about the high breast cancer rate? Remove animal products from the diet.

Univ of California, Berkley  has been studying breast cancer. Did you now that a Leukemia Virus infects some women's breasts that have breast cancer? Some questions being studied there:  Can women infected with BLV pass the virus to their children transplacentally or through breast milk? Are other human organs besides breast infected by BLV (Bovine Leukemia Virus) and could it be associated with cancer in these organs?

We are blessed with the great amount of light given to us, including that which involves our health. After many years of attempting to point to viruses as a cause of some cancers, the UC Berkeley study which began 15 years ago, looking at the possibility that  Bovine Leukemia Virus (BLV) found in cattle, especially diary cows could be the cause of breast cancer has finally published the truth. "Among the specimens in this study, the presence of amplified BLV DNA was significantly associated with breast cancer." plosone (http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0134304)

We have a whole country absorbed in finding a cure for breast cancer, but little has been done to educate on preventing breast cancer except by horrendous surgery. Now that there has been a study that has connected breast cancer with BLV,  have you heard about it? Will you hear about it? After over 20 years of actively warning about the BLV in dairy products and presenting the evidence that cancer can be caused by a virus, the results of this study is a great blessing even though  I  don't believe it is going to make much  difference to most of society.   :(

You will notice that in this study, it was stated that pasteurization kills the infective agent. Because they state this does not make it so. BLV infects a large portion of the population of those countries who are the highest consumers of dairy and meat. Yes, most of us have been infected with BLV. And how did this happen if heat is stopping the  transmission?

We were told over a hundred years ago to only drink milk from our own cow and to "sterilize" the milk. That is a higher temperature than pasteurization. But, we were also told that "soon" because of the increase in disease in animals it would not be safe to continue using eggs and dairy. In other words, "sterilization" of the milk and eggs would not protect us from disease being carried in these products.

Since most of us have been previously infected, it is a good idea to keep our immune system strong and healthy. It  is keeping the  virus from infecting our cells.

We have SDA friends that work in a mega dairy farm. We have been telling them about dairy. However, the wife chooses to listen to those who tell her that soy milk will make her son a homosexual. Amazing !  Therefore they drink milk like there is no tomorrow.

You need to tell them about my kids (both in their 20's) who have both drunk soy milk most of their lives, and are certainly not homosexuals.

Who makes up this stuff?  Have they forgotten the concept of moderation in all things?  One should not pig out on soy milk, of course, but that's no different from any other food or drink.

Who makes up this stuff?

Probably someone connected with the dairy industry.

It is amazing how carbohydrates and soy have been nearly labeled as poison while pork is called "the other white meat" and dairy is said to make strong bones. If a lie is told enough times people believe it.

So much effort and money is expended in trying to find a cure for breast cancer, when the answer as to what can cause it is sitting in front of us.  Adults have the ability to reason and make decisions about the risk of using animal products in their diet, but little children who die from Leukemia do not. It is criminal to subject them to the Bovine Leukemia Virus found in dairy products.
