Title: Bush's Faith-Based Operation May Be Delayed or Changed
Post by: Wendy on March 13, 2001, 05:36:00 PM
The administration's Faith-Based charity program has been getting criticism from both atheists and Christians. This has lead Bush to try to change some aspects of its plan before before they submit their bill.

Among other things they want to make it function more like vouchers. In that system the one who is to receive the services would decide which charity, religious or secular would get the money.

The plan will probably also include a plan that would allow taxpayers who don't itemize to deduct whatever they gave to the charity of their choice out of their taxes.

Robertson continues to be concerned about all religous groups having access to the funds. Falwell feels comfortable with the current plan under Bush but worries about where it might go under other administrations.
