Signs of the Times / Re: Have Christians lost true affection for one another?
« Last post by Richard Myers on December 06, 2025, 08:01:52 AM »
And from 1 John 3:

3:9   Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
3:10   In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
3:11   For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
3:12   Not as Cain, [who] was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
3:13   Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.
3:14   We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not [his] brother abideth in death.
3:15   Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
3:16   Hereby perceive we the love [of God], because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down [our] lives for the brethren.
3:17   But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels [of compassion] from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
3:18   My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

There are many more teachings they will have to surrender in order to be in harmony with the Bible. It would show real repentance for false teaching when they repent of changing the ten commandments. Two changes:  the fourth and the second they changed. Actually the second they did not change, they removed. We know they will not correct their teaching on the fourth. They do claim they attempted to change the fourth from the seventh day to the first. And, they are not the only ones who  need to repent for attempting to change the fourth commandment.

Amen.  Feel sorry for those who want them gone. From Leviticus these are all moral laws and thus are still binding:

19:23   And when ye shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of trees for food, then ye shall count the fruit thereof as uncircumcised: three years shall it be as uncircumcised unto you: it shall not be eaten of.
19:24   But in the fourth year all the fruit thereof shall be holy to praise the LORD [withal].
19:25   And in the fifth year shall ye eat of the fruit thereof, that it may yield unto you the increase thereof: I [am] the LORD your God.
19:26   Ye shall not eat [any thing] with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times.
19:27   Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.
19:28   Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I [am] the LORD.

Many will make excuses and argue these are not moral laws which are to  be obeyed. We do not have to understand why, just obey.

The Desire of Ages / Re: The Desire of Ages--45--The Foreshadowing of the Cross

For three and a half years Jesus had been preparing His disciples to understand the gospel of grace. They understood He was the Son of God, but they had been taught that their Messiah would rule from an earthly throne. Thus, they had no desire to understand He came to the world to suffer and die that we all might be saved.

After Peter's confession, Jesus charged the disciples to tell no man that He was the Christ. This charge was given because of the determined opposition of the scribes and Pharisees. More than this, the people, and even the disciples, had so false a conception of the Messiah that a public announcement of Him would give them no true idea of His character or His work. But day by day He was revealing Himself to them as the Saviour, and thus He desired to give them a true conception of Him as the Messiah.

     The disciples still expected Christ to reign as a temporal prince. Although He had so long concealed His design, they believed that He would not always remain in poverty and obscurity; the time was near when He would establish His kingdom. That the hatred of the priests and rabbis would never be overcome, that Christ would be rejected by His own nation, condemned as a deceiver, and crucified as a malefactor,--such a thought the disciples had never entertained. But the hour of the power of darkness was drawing on, and Jesus must open to His disciples the conflict before them. He was sad as He anticipated the trial.  {DA 415.1}

     Hitherto He had refrained from making known to them anything relative to His sufferings and death. In His conversation with Nicodemus He had said, "As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:14, 15. But the disciples did not hear this, and had they heard, would not have understood. But now they have been with Jesus, listening to His words, beholding His works, until, notwithstanding the humility of His surroundings, and the opposition of priests and people, they can join in the testimony of Peter, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." Now the time has come for the veil that hides the future to be withdrawn. "From that time forth began Jesus to show unto His disciples, how that He must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day......"  {DA 415.2}

They sorrowed and doubted, hoped and feared, for six long, gloomy days.

Living in the Land

Commentary in Navy                  Inspiration in Maroon

Sabbath Afternoon

Read for This Week’s Study: Joshua 22; Eph. 6:7; John 7:24; Numbers 25; Prov. 15:1; 1 Pet. 3:8-9

Memory Text: “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger” (Proverbs 15:1, NIV).

Living in a community can, at times, lead to disputes and tension. This is especially true in a community, such as the church, where people from different backgrounds and social strata—and sometimes brought up in completely different cultures—live and work together for a common purpose.

This week we will study Joshua 22 and a challenge that arose from a great misunderstanding among the people. At the beginning of the book, Joshua commanded some tribes to cross the Jordan and participate in the conquest, along with the tribes on the west side of the Jordan (Josh. 1:12-18). Now that the task is accomplished, they are free to return. However, at the east side of the Jordan, they build an altar that raises concern among the West Jordan tribes.

Why is it dangerous to jump to a rash conclusion about the behavior of others? How can we foster unity in the church?

When fully surrendered to Jesus, we have unity of Spirit and are learning together which is forming unity of doctrine.

Why is it important to keep in mind the larger scope of our calling and not get caught up in distractions? These are some of the questions we are going to deal with this week.

* Study this week’s lesson to prepare for Sabbath, December 13.

Well, Pope Leo is trying to bring all the world together, but at the same time spreading fear and terror of a third World War....

"Pope Leo on first foreign trip says future of humanity at stake from conflict
Pope Leo XIV has warned that the world should not give into "a heightened level of conflict on the global level", at the start of his foreign trip in Turkey.
"The future of humanity is at stake, said the Pope, urging President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to act as a source of stability because of the need to promote dialogue and stability.
Leo warned that today's wars were like a "third world war fought piecemeal"....

Over recent months, though he has spoken out on some issues dear to him such as the dignity of migrants, he has certainly not been as overtly political as his predecessor could be.
He has walked such a fine line that in some cases both progressives and traditionalists within the Catholic Church have made the case that he supports their school of thought.
It was for similar reasons that cardinals of different persuasions were thought to have coalesced around him at conclave.
Pope Francis was seen as a visionary but one who was not overly worried about creating consensus, leaving behind a somewhat divided Church. Pope Leo has so far operated very differently, gently holding on to some of the progressive ideals of his predecessor while paying heed to the views of traditionalists."...https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cy5g3076lqzo

Looks like he will say whatever is needed to spread ecumenism with the other churches....
