No matter how dark the trials of this life—and yes; the trial Jesus endured at Calvary was dark—the “light at the end of tunnel” is directly connected to the joy of seeing souls redeemed as we endure whatever God allows us to pass through for His will to be done!
Do we see the cross in its full glory? Do we discern the glory and joy possible to us in bearing our cross with Christ as we experience crucifixion of self for His mission of saving souls? Oh, let’s not miss the TRUE GLORY of life—living in constant contemplation of the glorious victory Jesus has wrought for us and extending that victory to each new soul that is brought to behold the eternally good news!! Jesus is fully God and fully Man, and He fully defeated Satan!! Jesus knows we are human, but He offers us the SAME DIVINE NATURE that He lived by—by faith in the word!!! “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (2 Peter 1:4).
“‘Now is the judgment of this world,’ Christ continued; ‘now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all unto Me. This He said, signifying what death He should die.’ This is the crisis of the world. If I become the propitiation for the sins of men, the world will be lighted up. Satan’s hold upon the souls of men will be broken. The defaced image of God will be restored in humanity, and a family of believing saints will finally inherit the heavenly home. This is the result of Christ’s death. The Saviour is lost in contemplation of the scene of triumph called up before Him. He sees the cross, the cruel, ignominious cross, with all its attending horrors, blazing with glory.” {The Desire of Ages, page 625, paragraph 4}
When Satan loses his hold on you—when sin truly appears hateful as it is for its very baseness and you gladly obey God out of love, life takes on an entirely new aspect. Freedom in obedience in which our life experience reveals all of the fruits of the Spirit without one missing is truly living the heavenly life while still on earth. We are converted for God’s glory and His purposes, and we find our highest joy in Him. So we may live, through abiding in Christ, on “earth, as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). May this be the constant experience of each of us, I pray.
