Okay ... so we have gone from dead and live birds in chimneys and fireplaces to balsamic vinegar on a fruit/vegetable and this topic is about "Wildlife Inside my House."  ;D ;D ;D Will we ever learn!

Probably not!  :D :D :D

So, while we are off topic, I will add one more thing.  :P  Mama Kitty is famous for opening cabinet doors and crawling inside to disappear for a while. She is an expert at it. Because I do not want her and her little side kick, Cutie, to bring dying animals inside the house (on topic again all of a sudden), I closed the cat door. So what does Mama Kitty do this morning? She got a claw into the screen door and opened the patio door from the outside and walked in the door. I have never seen anything like it! I have tried loving that cat but she is one of those unlovable beasts we just tolerate, but with the intelligence she is showing, she's growing on me by the minute!
You probably don't own a micorwave but if you do, you could let her get inside of it and she could not get out. That might make her want to avoid going in cupboards. I'm not suggesting you turn the microwave on, even though you might be tempted to.  ;D

Catsup?

No. Cat soup. You two are bad.

We've upgraded the wildlife in our house - no more mice. We found a praying mantis just inside the front door. It had to be close to 6". I've seen small green ones in the garden, but had no idea they grew as large as this guy. Amazingly beautiful creatures. This one was the color of dried corn stalks, and actually looked a bit like one. I had to puzzle what that thing on the wall was before my eyes could make my brain believe what they saw. Son shooed him out the door kindly, although the thing cocked it's head at him and gave him a good eyeing over before he agreed to go.

Actually, the mantis was probably sizing up Son, thinking about his next meal, as they have such voracious appetites.  I have read that they readily eat each other, if no other food is available at the time of hunger.

That is exactly what it looked like. Lion-hearted comes to mind. Dragon flies have the same appetite, and are equally fierce but have remained in the garden where there is plenty of food. They are glorious to watch with their brilliant blue color.

Yes, I think the female eats the male after they mate. Sometimes staying a bachelor is not a bad idea.  ;D

Amazingly beautiful creatures.

Now that is a thought!!  I guess before I was a Christian I watched too many science fiction movies. Beautiful is not the adjective I would choose. If you increased his size a hundred fold, would you still consider him beautiful?  How about ten fold?  :)

I never watched sci-fi (Godzilla's a comedy, right? ;)), so it's easier to see the beauty. However, someone was recently telling an incident about a crazed cat that wouldn't die and Stephen Kings Pet Cemetery haunted me.  ::)

Increased 100 x's and son would have been lunch - hard to find beauty in that!! God made them just the right size, didn't He? :)

(Movie & book disclaimer: Now I know better.)

Reminds me of the other day when I was pushing my grandson down the isle at a craft type store and they had all the Holloween things out already. One row after another I said, "Well, we don't need to go down this isle." It is hard to tell what this ugly things so to our children. It is not at all good and sets the little ones up for no good. Parents need to protect there little eyes from such garbage.
Alone this line my son and family are at a training week for home schooling. Now days it is the best way. maybe the only way to go. :)
With Christian Love,
Marie

Monday son brought in a half-dead kitten - skin & bones. Perhaps 8 weeks old. After wrapping him up warm and trying to get a bit of nourishment down him with an eye-dropper we let him rest. He appeared to about die on us twice before we got him to take a bit of water with cat food disolved in it. The neighbor gave us milk & a raw egg to stir in it. After his nap he revived with the milk & egg and was able to eat a bit of cat food until now we have a very healthy kitten in the kitchen.  :( Now what?  ::)

God notices when a sparrow falls so he cares about the kittens, too. But, we can't save every single cat that comes our way....can we? I was going to take him to the pound, but it's getting hard to do especially since I found out today they just kill them right away out here. Won't keep him in the house until he's old enough to go outside - allergies. There's a cat lady in town, but that's just a gross environment. I am out of options. So, I'm praying to find him a happy home. Any takers?  :D Free shipping!  ;)

He's currently confined in the kitchen with a board going across the entrance. I swung my foot too wide crossing it and kicked the door frame with my stocking foot.  I now have one swollen & red toe. Praise God from Who all blessings flow...  :)

Vickie, My daughter in law is a sucker for needy kittens, but they live in Hawaii and are planning to move to Fiji. She insists on taking all 19 of her rescued cats with them. My son is a very patient man.  :)

Also, we have a cat lady in our congregation. She is 83 years old and up until last week she had 23 cats. They live outside because she also has canaries and I think love birds. A mountain lion has been taking her cats and as of yesterday she had 5 left. One of our deacons was giving her son a ride home and as he drove up to the house the lion was lounging near the wood pile, which is just a few feet from the house. This lady has very poor eye site and I think she is actually in danger. The fish and game authorites are stationed over 100 miles away and wont come out with dogs to track the lion unless they have proof that it is killing pets. I am hoping that one of our members or somebody in the community who has hunting rifles will deal with it. Mountain lions are protected but people up here are very pragmatic about unreasonable regulations. They have an old saying about dealing with lions or bears who become a nuisance or a danger to people: "Shoot, shovel, and shut up."

I wouldn't say this to her, but everyone agrees that it is good that she no longer has 23 cats. None of them were neutered. This time next year there would probably have been 50.

Oh, yes indeed your son is patient!

When kitty recovered I firmly told son we weren't keeping him and I heard "GOOD" loud and clear from the back of the house. So the 2 adults are in agreement, yet here the kitten is.  ::)

I thought I saw the mother this morning so I ran to the house, grabbed kitty and ran outside telling it "Cry! Cry!" but it wouldn't. It was probably another stray I saw anyway. Wishful thinking on my part.

Our cat is from the same mother but from last years litter. I adopted out his siblings. Next batch we found we left them for her to raise as mousers. Haven't seen those 2 around either, so coyotes must have gotten them, too. Cuddled them once for a few minutes before letting them go & son ended up with ring worm & I got pink eye.  ::)  This is the 3rd batch we know of in 2 years but we couldn't catch the mother to fix her. I think a coyote finally got her and the 3 other kitties in the last litter.  :P

I'd definitely rather have coyotes than cougars. A few mountains from us there is a pet food factory that attracts cougars. We worked there nights for a short time and caught one in our headlights near the buildings. I refused to walk between buildings that night.

The cat lady in your area has created a free buffet for the cougar. I doubt he'll leave. I hope someone gets him before the woman is hurt.

You might try a different animal shelter. We have 3 around here but one of them is a "No Kill" shelter, however, it costs $25.00 to drop off an animal.
