Yes - it is a small booklet.

Nope, those are not the remaining two, but they are good.

Another hint on the remaining two: One is close to home and the other is part of missionary work

So, the subjects thus far are:

1. Evangelism
2. Health Message
3. Education
4. Publishing Work
5. Practical Christianity
6. Diet

Two more ... here's a hint on one of them: it is a huge part of missionary work.

7. Travel - go into all the world.

This will be breakfast conversation to see what husband can think of since my guesses are dried up and I probably won't have time to keep reading Christian Leadership this week.

Surely someone else out there has some thoughts?!

Nope ...  :(

It is difficult to give a hint on the last one without giving it away, but I'll try:

Where is true Christianity nurtured with us as a people?

Go to the Index page of this forum and check to see which one is missing on this list. We have them all covered.

Thank you, Diane!

Who will have the next quiz?

I'll pass. I fear you'd all put me to shame with quick answers.

By the way, do you have SOP quotes for those answers?

ChL - Christian Leadership (1985)

PREFACE

In His love and mercy, God provided through Ellen G. White a rich treasure of inspired counsel on a wide variety of subjects that are important to the remnant church in its task of carrying the three angels' messages to the world.  Among the subjects dealt with in this counsel are education, diet, home and family, evangelism, healthful living, practical Christianity, publishing, and medical work.
Seventh-day Adventist school teachers and church leaders have discovered that materials for their classes almost always can be enriched by choice quotations and gems of thought gathered from the published and unpublished writings of Ellen White.  Thus, in 1973 and 1974, when preparations were being made to conduct a series of Christian Leadership Seminars, the secretary of the White Estate and the director of the Seminars collaborated in preparing a booklet of Ellen White counsels on Christian Leadership.
The booklet was widely used and much appreciated.  However, after a number of years, when the Leadership Seminars were no longer being conducted on a regular basis, the booklet was allowed to go out of print.  It was assumed that it had served its purpose and would not be reissued.  However, demand for it has continued.  To meet the demand, we now offer this new edition.  We send it forth with a prayer that its counsels may bless and strengthen the men and women whom God has placed in positions of responsibility in His church.

The topic of the "daily" was a highly controversial subject for the early SDA church pioneers and threatened to split the church. What was James White's interpretation of the "daily" as referred to Daniel chapters 8, 11 & 12 ?

Hang on ... I just found something. Maybe we can make short order of this after all!

According to "China Letters" by David Lin, "The traditional understanding of SDA historians is that James White held the view that the "daily" of Daniel 8:11 refers to the priesthood of Christ. In the SDABC, Vol. 7, page 64, reads: Crosier Reverts to Reformation View;" the next subtitle says, "White Follows Crosier's View." In prophetic Faith of our Fathers, 1119, is a table in which Crosier and White are both listed as believing that the "daily" refers to the ministry of Christ.

"HOWEVER, in later issues of the Day Star Extra and the Review and Herald 1851, both quoted in the SDABC, Vol. 7, yields no conclusive evidence that either writer held the view attributed to him. Both believed that the sanctuary in heaven, the Son of God and the "host" have been trodden under foot by papal Rome. But not a word is said of the "daily."

"The following quotation from an article by James White in February 15, 1870's issue of the Review tells what he really believed about the "daily":

The daily sacrifice and the transgression of desolation represent Rome in its Pagan and Papal forms. Leaving out the supplied words, the text would read, "The daily, and the transgression of desolation." These two desolation powers; first, Paganism, then Papacy. Of these, Paul in 2Thess. 2:3-8, says: "Let no man deceive you by any means; for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that Man of Sin be revealed, the son of perdition, who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he, as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. Remember ye not that when I was yet with you, I told you these things? And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work; only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming."

That which withheld the manifestation of the Papacy in Paul's day was paganism. These are the two powers which have desolated the people of God, of which the angel speaks in the vision of Daniel 8.

"That such a plain statement by James White could have been overlooked by our historians is hard to understand. Now we know that he stood with those to whom "the Lord gave the correct view." Advocates of the other view who have placed him on the wrong side either purposely misrepresent him to gain a strong ally, or must admit that they were careless historians." - David Lin - June 21, 1988

Riddle- A woman's name in the Bible better known as a man's name. (they both have the same first name) She was the first woman landowner. The man's name is very well known. The man that has this name had a son whose name is the same as an unclean meat.
