Amen Marelis. It is one of my favorites also. We often would sing it in our family worship. Jesus is coming in a few more days!! We long to see Him face to face!  Thank you for sharing, it reminded me of the hymn which I never hear in church. My daughter would remind me that the way I liked to sing it was not how it is written. I liked to slow down the  "sounding through the air."  That part of the melody is beautiful.
Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.

How appropriate

Verse 1
There are days I know when you get so discouraged,
It seems that all hope is gone.
But there's only One who can give you courage
And strength to carry on.

Verse 2
This old world I know can't last much longer,
And sin will soon pass away.
But my faith in God simply keeps growing stronger,
For Jesus is coming some day!

Chorus
Never give up, Jesus is coming.
It's the darkest just before dawn.
Never give up, Jesus is coming.
Never give up, keep holding on!

Absolutely beautiful. As I listen to these the same feelings come to me as when I'm out in nature where the only sounds are that of God's creation.
But this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press  toward the mark. Phil. 3:13,14

The Holy City

And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.  And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God [is] with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, [and be] their God.    Revelation   21:2,3

When a boy at summer camp in the mountains we sang this song at church. It remains dear to my heart.

Church in the Wildwood

There’s a church in the valley by the wildwood,
No lovelier spot in the dale;
No place is so dear to my childhood,
As the little brown church in the vale.

Refrain

Come to the church in the wildwood,
Oh, come to the church in the dale,
No spot is so dear to my childhood,
As the little brown church in the vale.

How sweet on a clear, Sabbath morning,
To list to the clear ringing bell;
Its tones so sweetly are calling,
Oh, come to the church in the vale.

Refrain

There, close by the church in the valley,
Lies one that I loved so well;
She sleeps, sweetly sleeps, ’neath the willow,
Disturb not her rest in the vale.

Refrain

There, close by the side of that loved one,
To trees where the wild flowers bloom,
When the farewell hymn shall be chanted
I shall rest by her side in the tomb.

Refrain

From the church in the valley by the wildwood,
When day fades away into night,
I would fain from this spot of my childhood
Wing my way to the mansions of light.

Refrain
Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.

Yes, I know we already have this song, but it is so beautiful and the pictures are very good. The words are so very clear that we can understand every word. What a wonderful story! God has blessed us with understanding His character.

One of my favorite hymns, but one that is rarely heard.
So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants:  we have done that which was our duty to do.  Luke 17:10

When I worked at Pinecrest Camp back  in the '60's and '70's, we had what we called "Church Bowl," with benches out under the trees and a men's quartet would sing this hymn every Sabbath morning as people followed the trail to the worship service.

I've been to the "The Little Brown Church in the Vale."  It's in Iowa, and was built in the mid-1800's.  And, yes, it is brown, and it's not very big.
So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants:  we have done that which was our duty to do.  Luke 17:10

It is interesting to note that when the hymn was written the church did not exist. It was built in response to the hymn. I often wondered was the word vale or dale? Every lyrics I have found have both.  Very interesting. Another interesting thing about the lyrics is that originally it was "How sweet on a clear, Sabbath morning." Today, we find it being changed to Sunday morning.  :(    Maybe just innocent?   If so, they see a difference from their ancestors who believed Sunday was the Sabbath.

Thanks for sharing Brother Wally. Hope you are enjoying your change in life!  Have a blessed Sabbath my dear friend.
