An Update on George. Yes, please continue to pray! Apparently, he had a massive stroke last Wednesday night, but was not found until around 2:00 Sabbath morning. He usually calls my friend Linda 2-3 times a week, but she had not heard from him since Tuesday. She called me Friday night, saying that his neighbor said his car was at home, and his lights were on. She thought maybe he had gone somewhere with a friend of his and used her car, but later, she got in touch with her and she said she had not seen or heard from him, and Linda could not reach him by phone.
By this time, Linda was just sure something had happened and that he was in the house. She called me back and asked should she call the police? We decided to ask our head elder to go with Linda to George's house, and if they could not find out anything, to call the police then. So, around 12:00, they called the police. But, the police could do nothing, so they said, until they could ascertain if his cell phone was inside. It took 2 hours for them to find out...cannot imagine why. Finally, they broke in, and found George, lying about half dressed in the hall outside his bathroom door. He was alive, but could not talk, and was in a terrible condition, dehydrated, chilled and terribly weak, and, as they learned later, paralyzed on his right side.
FT and I went to Paducah today to see him, was with him yesterday also. He cannot talk, but his mind does not seem to be affected, as he answers questions by nodding or shaking his head. He had tears when he saw us, and clung to my hands, kissing them. He is so pathetic, makes me want to cry. But, God is not finished with him yet, and we do not know why this was allowed to happen. He cannot, as yet, even swallow. Just do not know what will happen. He is in cardiac care because he has atrial fibrillation. His two sons live 6 hours away, but came last night, and had to go back today, but will be talking with the drs. on the phone tomorrow, and will be back Wednesday. Please join me/us in prayer for him, for God to work in his life now, in whatever way is best. We, his church family, will be checking on him regularly. Sybil, I thought you would especially like to know.
