Also, we are praying for his family, that this will bring them closer to Jesus, and to each other. And, that we, as his church family have benefited and been blessed in many ways with his life. His son was glad that his church family is visiting him...he has asked more than once if we all were still coming. We are thankful that they want us, and Linda, Elizabeth and I can see by the look on his face that he is glad to see us.

Yesterday, Dec. 2, a morphine drip was begun for George. He is now on Hospice. The family talked privately with him for 15-20 minutes, and the decision was made to start the drip. I believe that George does understand. When Linda called us, I said, "I would go today, if I had someone to drive me, because he might not know us by tomorrow." Elizabeth said, "I will go, no reason not to." I was very glad we did go, as he was happy to see us. I read to him from MH, and I fed him ice chips, and that pleased him, but he has not indicated that he wants anything else, which is good, as he cannot swallow anything but the small amounts of water from the chips. They have discontinued the IV, except just enough to give him the morphine. Linda is probably at the hospital now, as she was going this morning. If he is lucid, our former pastor and wife, who he loves, are driving up from below Nashville to see him this afternoon.

When we were preparing to leave, I told him, "I plan to be back, but should anything happen to either of us, I will see you by the Tree of Life, ok?" He nodded his head. I said, "Promise?" and he nodded his head again, with a whispered "yes," with a small smile and squeezed my hand..hard. I know that you here on TRO are continuing to pray for George and family. Particularly for his family, his ex-wife was once in the church, and his boys were raised in the church, but have wandered far off...

"he has asked more than once if we all were still coming."

It is a blessing to be able to comfort one who is must concerned about not being alone. God bless you, Dora and Elizabeth!

Soon George's next conscious experience will be hearing the voice of Jesus and seeing Him. Glorious! May all his loved ones be comforted.

Our hearts are united in prayer with all of yours on behalf of George and his family.
But this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press  toward the mark. Phil. 3:13,14

Yes, Carl, I have thought that very thing! I believe his family would have taken him back to Chicago, but he had bought a burial plot not far from where he lived. So, IF they have a funeral, it will be in Paducah. The boys had asked our pastor about funeral homes. I am just praying that his family will be touched by the Holy Spirit, and his death can be a means of drawing them to Jesus.

As I said, we live 50 miles away, or I would have been back sometime today. Linda lives about 7 minutes away, so she goes twice a day. Today, she went and stayed, because our former pastor and wife, who George loved, came to see him. They drove from Shelbyville, TN.

Linda said that he is sleeping more, and his breathing is a bit labored. I think it will not be long until he falls asleep to wake to hear that trumpet sound, and the voice of Jesus, calling him!!

Thank you all for your prayers...please continue...

Dora, like Ken Cox said, he doesn't want to be alive to see Jesus return. Instead he wants to experience being called from the grave by the voice of Jesus. That must be a astounding thing, rising from death to a perfect forevermore body.

Well, it is more than probable that neither Pastor Cox nor I will live to see Jesus come. But, if I sleep, or if I am here, I just want to be ready to go home with Jesus when he comes!

Amen! I had no idea Elder Cox wanted to sleep before Jesus comes. We do know in His mercy, God will lay in their graves those who cannot endure the very last difficult days on this earth. The older and more frail we are, the greater is the possibility of that happening. Jesus knows and will protect His own. What a blessed thought!

Yes that's what Ken Cox said in one of his sermons on 3ABN. You know I've often wondered about enduring the last days at it's worst for the old and disabled. I've asked myself what if Jesus returns when I'm so old and weak. Which is not that far away!

Amen!

The Lord "doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men." Lamentations 3:33. "Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear Him. For He knoweth our frame; He remembereth that we are dust." Psalm 103:13, 14. He knows our heart, for He reads every secret of the soul. He knows whether or not those for whom petitions are offered would be able to endure the trial and test that would come upon them if they lived. He knows the end from the beginning. Many will be laid away to sleep before the fiery ordeal of the time of trouble shall come upon our world. This is another reason why we should say after our earnest petition; "Nevertheless not my will, but Thine, be done." Luke 22:42. Such a petition will never be registered in heaven as a faithless prayer.  {CH 375.2}
     The apostle was bidden to write, "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them." Revelation 14:13. From this we can see that all are not to be raised up; and if they are not raised to health they should not be judged as unworthy of eternal life. If Jesus, the world's Redeemer, prayed, "O My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me," and added, "nevertheless not as I will, but as Thou wilt" (Matthew 26:39), how very appropriate it is for finite mortals to make the same surrender to the wisdom and will of God.  {CH 375.3}

After a nine year fight with cancer, then having a stroke about two weeks ago, George gave it up this afternoon, just a bit after 12:00.  Linda and a neighbor were there at the end, and his breathing just changed a little and then stopped. His suffering is over. His youngest son was on his way here, and has gotten to the hospital now. Linda and our pastor were there talking with John when I last talked with her. Please pray for George's family, that there will be healing, and they will come to know Jesus and His truths...

I'm so sorry. But it's over, now he will look back to the moment of suffering he endured in this world and think what a small price he paid for all the glory Jesus has and will give him.

And our suffering.....what is it compared to what our Lord suffered....and our heavenly Father as He watched His Son suffer. And....they continue to suffer as they watch all of the suffering of humanity.

We are thankful that we had the opportunity to pray for George, Dora. Thank you. We will continue to pray for his family.

Thank you all for your prayers. It was prayer, trust in God, and using the methods of natural healing that kept George alive this long. That in itself was a miracle. He did juicing, and ate very healthfully, even made his own bread, and it was REAL bread! He had a garden last summer and canned many jars of vegetables!

Yes, the family is who I am concerned about, I do believe that George made his peace with God and his fellow man. But, the family did not think there would even be any service, and we at the church just feel we can't let it go without a memorial service, like he never was there! So, in a week or so, we will be having one, I think, and will include his family if they will. Please keep our church in prayer, that we know how to minister to his family.

Amen. In the end his family will realize their "sometimes gruff father" was right, after all. How he maneuvered his illness is an encouragement. I am glad his church wants to remember him. All of you, Dora, are in our prayers.
