Sorry to hear about your car, Kelsy. The hydrogen is quite dangerous. The chance of my battery exploding is rare, but when you have millions of batteries in use, it means that someone is going to see it happen. Jumping a battery increases the chances of an explosion because of a spark and because the battery is having a problem when it is jumped. This information is relatively new for me and thought that we ought to all know about it since we all end up jumping either our own or somebody elses battery. Remember to put the ground on last and to take it off first..... and somewhere other than on the battery.
