ADRA Workers Missing in Liberian Border-town Fighting
« on: March 05, 2003, 07:07:00 AM »
Three workers for the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) are confirmed as missing after driving into an area of unrest near the Liberian-Ivory Coast border.

Emmanuel Sharpolu, ADRA Liberia director; Kaare Lund, ADRA Norway director; and Musa Kita, ADRA’s driver, were headed to a Norwegian-funded project in Toe Town. The remains of their burned-out vehicle were positively identified by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), ADRA’s implementing partner.

Efforts are underway to locate the three ADRA workers, but continued unrest in the area poses a challenge.

Providing individual and community development and disaster relief without regard to political or religious association, age or ethnicity, ADRA is present in more than 125 countries.

It is with great sorrow that we report the death of all three of our ADRA workers.

The Assoicated Press is reporting the body of a 53-year-old Norwegian aid worker who had been missing for more than a week was found near his burned out truck in Liberia's rebellion-torn eastern borderlands, officials said Monday.

Liberian authorities found the remains of Kaar Lund, an official with the Adventist Development and Relief Agency, on Friday, Defense Minister Daniel Chea said.

May God grant peace to all of the families involved and draw close them in their loss.

Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.

John 15:13.  Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
