Amen dear sister! There is one herb that I do not like even one little bit, sage.  It was in the Thanksgiving turkey stuffing many years ago. There are a few tastes that can turn a stomach upside down. Sage is one for me.  :)

I like cumin in zucchini squash. It is the only time I use it.

Sage is an herb we use in many things but it is a bit strong for the Chicken Style Seasoning. Our tastes often have to do with the things you were brought up with. We grow our own Sage also and grind it down for winter use. Let me know ahead of time before you come to visit and I will make sure there is no Sage used in any of the dishes.  ;D
But this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press  toward the mark. Phil. 3:13,14

Sage ... as Brother Richard mentioned it the scent and taste immediately came to mind :-[. I have tasted it in the past in burger recipes and I too have a dislike for the unique flavor.  :(

This is interesting to read about sage. I know a couple of people who can not stomach cilantro. If I remember correctly the dislike for cilantro can actually be traced down to a particular gene.

Love all the herbs!!  Grow most of them myself, eat them fresh and make as a tea.

Had to learn to like cilantro but now I put it in everything.

I think you have made a good point, rahab. We have the power to change our taste for food. Humanity today has perverted the taste so, that they need to spice food that God created us to like without the strong spices and too much salt, sugar, and oil.  Yes, I know that some will say we ought not eat any sugar, oil, or salt. But, healthy people can eat food with a little salt and a little sugar and a little oil. Most oil is not good, but fresh olive oil was used in the Bible for bread. We have a Bible story where God gave the oil. Wherever fruit can be grown in abundance, a liberal supply should be prepared for winter by canning or drying. Small fruits, such as currants, gooseberries, strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries, can be grown to advantage in many places where they are but little used and their cultivation is neglected. For household canning, glass, rather than tin cans, should be used whenever possible. It is especially necessary that the fruit be in good condition. Use little sugar, and cook the fruit only long enough to ensure its preservation. Thus prepared, it is an excellent substitute for fresh fruit.{ MHH 168.

We teach how to prepare healthful meals without the use of oil and sugar. Much of the oil being used today is not good, and many processed foods have way too much salt, oil, and sugar. When we come to understand we need to change our way of eating, we can be encouraged that our taste will change and it does not take a very long time. When we eat out of our garden, we will learn to enjoy fresh vegetables and fruit without the rich sauces and spices. God has given us herbs that are not only good for seasoning food, but have healing agents in them.

And, the experienced cook knows that herbs being used do not have to be used in large quantities. Often they can be used in very small amounts with good results. I have been surprised to find that sage was in a recipe that I liked very much. And, as our sister has pointed out our taste can change. The question then is, do we want it to?  :)  God has given us such a variety in fruit and vegetables that there is no pressure to have to learn to enjoy one particular food....unless it has a remedial agent that would be needed to heal the body.

Have a blessed Sabbath dear friends.
