Water Dowsing, Witching, and Divining

The purpose of posting this information is to educate those who do not understand the history and current situation with this practice.  From all I have read, like a Ouija board, do not open your mind to go beyond an understanding of where the power is coming from. Why present this today, for the same reason we teach about the state of the dead, people need to know that they will turn away from any means that Satan is using.

Through spiritualism many of the sick, the bereaved, the curious, are communicating with evil spirits. All who venture to do this are on dangerous ground. The word of truth declares how God regards them. In ancient times He pronounced a stern judgment on a king who had sent for counsel to a heathen oracle: “Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron? Now therefore thus saith the Lord, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.” 2 Kings 1:3, 4. { AA 290.1}
The magicians of heathen times have their counterpart in the spiritualistic mediums, the clairvoyants, and the fortune-tellers of today. The mystic voices that spoke at Endor and at Ephesus are still by their lying words misleading the children of men. Could the veil be lifted from before our eyes, we should see evil angels employing all their arts to deceive and to destroy. Wherever an influence is exerted to cause men to forget God, there Satan is exercising his bewitching power. When men yield to his influence, ere they are aware the mind is bewildered and the soul polluted. The apostle’s admonition to the Ephesian church should be heeded by the people of God today: “Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” Ephesians 5:11. { AA 290.2}

There are many ways Satan speaks to man. It all began in heaven and then proceeded to the Garden of Eden. He is the great deceiver. He first manifested himself as a beautiful creature and thus began his success in destroying man. We have no wisdom and are wide open to deception when we venture on Satan's ground.

Many think this "art" began in Germany in the 1500s. But, no so, this divining with a stick  goes back to the days of Egypt when Satan used a stick in an effort to deceive the Pharaoh. His magic was powerful, but no contest when others are looking to God. When studying this subject we find that there are artifacts that portray the Y stick used by water witchers for many years. Satan has used many devices to practice his magic. Millions today if not billions are led astray by his magical deceptions. The Y stick is still being used along with metal rods.  Beware

no science

This ought to be enough to warn all to stay away from this study and practice. Of course there is more, but what do you want to know any more than this?

If you are seeking more information from the world, you can expect to find much that will support this practice. And the closer we get to the end, the greater will be the deceptions, ending with the dead talking and the appearance of a false Jesus. If you want to understand how far America has fallen turn on the radio after midnight and you will find spiritualism is subject on almost every night. It is amazing how great the deceptions really are today.

Can you speak in tongues? Some are willing to teach you how. Stay away. Same with water witching, do not enter into what follows. This is for instruction of how silly but dangerous this "art" is.  Look at the ones being taught. This is openly being taught as spiritualism, being connected to the universe. The man has the power From where does it come? After watching this, do not ever go back.

Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.

I was taught from a child the evils of this practice. But I am amazed at how many of our church members believe in and use this method. I will tell you a little story that may seem humorous yet shows how God intervenes when we do the right thing.

When my husband and I were building our first home and it was time to dig a well we knew that we were not going to do it as everyone else did by water witching. My father-in-law who had the machinery to dig a well offered to do it for us. We were delighted but we also knew that he believed in water witching. We let him know that we did not want that done. He did it anyway. When his forked apple tree branch dipped strongly in a certain spot he drove a post into the ground to mark it for when he brought his machine to dig the well. We were not happy of course and weren't sure how to handle it.

When our neighbour died several months before, his German Shepherd dog adopted us and as I was looking out my kitchen window the next day I saw Inga roaming through the grass in the backyard and she came upon this post in the ground. She proceeded to tug and pull on it until she finally got it out and proudly brought it to the house. When my father-in-law arrived to do the job he couldn't find the spot. He was not happy. My husband was home at the time and insisted that the well be dug where he wanted it in the first place. It is only 14 feet deep and while others in the area go dry in the summer this well has never run dry in 38 years while the water witched wells go dry each summer.

Sadly it did not change my father-in-laws mind or anyone else.

But this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press  toward the mark. Phil. 3:13,14
