    How many today are like Peter! They are interested in the affairs of others, and anxious to know their duty, while they are in danger of neglecting their own. It is our work to look to Christ and follow Him. We shall see mistakes in the lives of others, and defects in their character. Humanity is encompassed with infirmity. But in Christ we shall find perfection. Beholding Him, we shall become transformed.

    We are to keep our eyes focused on Jesus, that is how we allow Jesus to transform us into his likeness and character. We should not dwell on fellow believers as our example as we are all human with human frailties. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. We are not to worry about God's duty for others, but focus on God's duty for ourselves. It only through a continue focus on Christ that we allow Him to transform us and finish the good work He has begun in us. We should be attuned to the still small voice of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Amen Brother Philip!  If we would spend a thoughtful hour a day beholding Jesus, we would be transformed into His image (2 Cor. 3:18). If we do not continue to behold the loveliness of Jesus, we shall sin. And sin brings reproach upon Jesus.

Here is given a lesson for all Christ's followers. The gospel makes no compromise with evil. It cannot excuse sin. Secret sins are to be confessed in secret to God; but, for open sin, open confession is required. The reproach of the disciple's sin is cast upon Christ. It causes Satan to triumph, and wavering souls to stumble. By giving proof of repentance, the disciple, so far as lies in his power, is to remove this reproach.

What a God we serve, who will not excuse sin, but will indeed forgive all who are truly repentant.
Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.

Amen, Brother Beacon, Brother Philip and Brother Richard!

What does God have planned for you? Seek to follow Jesus step by step by beholding the loveliness of His selfless character, so that in surrendering your whole heart to Christ and allowing all of the fruits of the Spirit to be manifest in your life without one missing, you may be transformed in character and reflect Jesus without manifesting one of the works of the flesh. We can learn to let Jesus teach us our duty rather than being so concerned about what God has planned for others.

"How many today are like Peter! They are interested in the affairs of others, and anxious to know their duty, while they are in danger of neglecting their own. It is our work to look to Christ and follow Him. We shall see mistakes in the lives of others, and defects in their character. Humanity is encompassed with infirmity. But in Christ we shall find perfection. Beholding Him, we shall become transformed." {The Desire of Ages, page 816, paragraph 3}

What joy it is to become like Christ in mind and character, as He seeks to lead us into the path with the most unalloyed happiness both now and evermore! Let us choose to look away from the weakness of fallen humanity and behold what divinity and humanity combined can do as is perfectly exemplified in the life of Jesus, our Savior who died for us at Calvary and is even now interceding in heaven as our High Priest to blot out the record of our confessed sins that have been turned from in true repentance, so we may be with Him forever in peace following His eternal plan as part of the family more intimately joined to the Godhead than even angels who have never fallen! Praise the Lord!!
"When we live by faith on the Son of God, the fruits of the Spirit will be seen in our lives; not one will be missing." {The Desire of Ages, 676.4}

Happy Sabbath! Let us not run ahead of Jesus. He knows our future, and He has a perfect plan. We can learn to rest in Him, wait upon Him, and allow Him to guide us. Had Peter learned this lesson earlier in his experience, it could have protected him in Christ from taking things into his own hands in a way that only brought disappointment. But God loves to take us right where He finds us and give us grace to overcome sin and allow Him to write His story in our lives! As we surrender unreservedly to Jesus, He gives us a new heart and mind in which all of the fruits of the Spirit will be seen in our lives--not one will be missing as we affectionally obey God's law of love!

"To Peter the words 'Follow Me' were full of instruction. Not only for his death, but for every step of his life, was the lesson given. Hitherto Peter had been inclined to act independently. He had tried to plan for the work of God, instead of waiting to follow out God's plan. But he could gain nothing by rushing on before the Lord. Jesus bids him, 'Follow Me.' Do not run ahead of Me. Then you will not have the hosts of Satan to meet alone. Let Me go before you, and you will not be overcome by the enemy." {The Desire of Ages, page 816, paragraph 1}

Let Jesus guide the way before you, directing your path and guiding your steps. "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way" (Psalm 37:23). As we let Jesus lead our steps, we will find love, joy and peace that passes all understating!
"When we live by faith on the Son of God, the fruits of the Spirit will be seen in our lives; not one will be missing." {The Desire of Ages, 676.4}

    The Saviour's manner of dealing with Peter had a lesson for him and for his brethren. It taught them to meet the transgressor with patience, sympathy, and forgiving love. Although Peter had denied his Lord, the love which Jesus bore him never faltered. Just such love should the undershepherd feel for the sheep and lambs committed to his care. Remembering his own weakness and failure, Peter was to deal with his flock as tenderly as Christ had dealt with him.

Amen Pastor Sean, what a blessing Jesus example is to us, love or charity is a thing to thank God for and put to work in our lives to help those around us. Jesus showed it to Peter after denying him three times, and led him to a converted state, he will do the same for us, as we must exhibit to our church members and those still seeking out Jesus, it is the only way to deal with believers and nonbelievers. We cannot win soul's to Christ if we do not have His love in us.

"Much of the time of Christ's ministry had been passed near the Sea of Galilee. As the disciples gathered in a place where they were not likely to be disturbed, they found themselves surrounded by reminders of Jesus and His mighty works. On this sea, when their hearts were filled with terror, and the fierce storm was hurrying them to destruction, Jesus had walked upon the billows to their rescue. Here the tempest had been hushed by His word. Within sight was the beach where above ten thousand persons had been fed from a few small loaves and fishes. Not far distant was Capernaum, the scene of so many miracles. As the disciples looked upon the scene, their minds were full of the words and deeds of their Saviour."

One thing hubby and I love to do often is to go back over the years to our childhood and rehearse the leading of God in our lives.  Even through the times that we were not walking with God as we should we can see His watch care over us. Not that He condoned our condition but because His great love and deep desire to see us in the kingdom He patiently wooed us back to Him. This is a very faith strengthening exercise and it draws us closer to Him and to each other with grateful hearts. The human heart is so weak. Too many times we don't appreciate the blessings at the time, until we no longer have them.
But this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press  toward the mark. Phil. 3:13,14

"The question that Christ had put to Peter was significant. He mentioned only one condition of discipleship and service.

"Lovest thou Me?" He said. This is the essential qualification."

"Though Peter might possess every other, yet without the love of Christ he could not be a faithful shepherd over the Lord's flock. Knowledge, benevolence, eloquence, gratitude, and zeal are all aids in the good work;....

...but without the love of Jesus in the heart, the work of the Christian minister is a failure."

"Although Peter had denied his Lord, the love which Jesus bore him never faltered. Just such love should the undershepherd feel for the sheep and lambs committed to his care.

"Remembering his own weakness and failure, Peter was to deal with his flock as tenderly as Christ had dealt with him."

Dearly Beloved; We need to remember how badly we have faltered from time to time and bring to remembrance how gently Jesus dealt with Peter and He is just as willing to forgive, restore and reinstate each of us when we have faltered just like Peter.

Jesus extends His Mercy & Pardon to ALL who are willing to do a U-Turn, to Confess our Failures and to be Forgiven & Restored and once again become active laboring laborers in the great harvest field of our Lord.

In the book of Isaiah 1:18 We find this wonderful promise. "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Please, don't let Satan tell you that it's too late. Come Now -- Just as you are and experience the Restoring Forgiveness and Love of Jesus and then PASS IT ON!

HAPPY SABBATH to all my brothers and sisters around the world and to all God's children across the universe!

Now, that is an idea Brother Beacon! But, how many time zones are there in the outer zones of the universe? Or is there an outer zone?  :)

Jesus has many lessons for His disciples to learn. So, it is with us. One of the great lessons we ought to have learned by now is that Jesus will provide for us if we are truly His.

    Vividly they recalled the scene beside the sea when Jesus had bidden them follow Him. They remembered how, at His command, they had launched out into the deep, and had let down their net, and the catch had been so abundant as to fill the net, even to breaking. Then Jesus had called them to leave their fishing boats, and had promised to make them fishers of men. It was to bring this scene to their minds, and to deepen its impression, that He had again performed the miracle. His act was a renewal of the commission to the disciples. It showed them that the death of their Master had not lessened their obligation to do the work He had assigned them. Though they were to be deprived of His personal companionship, and of the means of support by their former employment, the risen Saviour would still have a care for them. While they were doing His work, He would provide for their needs. And Jesus had a purpose in bidding them cast their net on the right side of the ship. On that side He stood upon the shore. That was the side of faith. If they labored in connection with Him,--His divine power combining with their human effort,--they could not fail of success.

How many times in life have you  been guaranteed of success?  How many times has it proved true? With God you can count on Him keeping His promises. If we labor in connection with Christ, we cannot fail of success!!!
Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.

What a lesson to learn!

"To Peter the words 'Follow Me' were full of instruction. Not only for his death, but for every step of his life, was the lesson given. Hitherto Peter had been inclined to act independently. He had tried to plan for the work of God, instead of waiting to follow out God's plan. But he could gain nothing by rushing on before the Lord. Jesus bids him, 'Follow Me.' Do not run ahead of Me. Then you will not have the hosts of Satan to meet alone. Let Me go before you, and you will not be overcome by the enemy." {The Desire of Ages, page 816, paragraph 1}

If we would wait upon the Lord to guide us rather than rush on in our own way, we would be protected and guided to walk in the path He has planned. "Often our plans fail that God's plans for us may succeed." {The Ministry of Healing, page 473, paragraph 3}

Let us look to Jesus in full surrender of our heart and mind, unite our weakness to His strength so His grace may convert us thoroughly, and then let Jesus live out in us all of the fruits of the Spirit without one missing as we affectionately obey His law of love! He has the best plan for us--and faith working by love will accept His plans so we become one with Him in the joy of unselfish service!
"When we live by faith on the Son of God, the fruits of the Spirit will be seen in our lives; not one will be missing." {The Desire of Ages, 676.4}

"Peter had been restored to his apostleship, but the honor and authority he received from Christ had not given him supremacy over his brethren."

"This Christ had made plain when in answer to Peter's question, "What shall this man do?" He had said, "What is that to thee? follow thou Me."

"Peter was not honored as the head of the church."

"The favor which Christ had shown him in forgiving his apostasy, and entrusting him with the feeding of the flock, and Peter's own faithfulness in following Christ, won for him the confidence of his brethren. He had much influence in the church. "

How wonderful is the Restoring Forgivness and Grace of Jesus. Never should we listen to the voice of Satan trying to tell us that we have gone to far to be forgiven. Remember Jesus FORGAVE PETER even after he sworn and cursed that he never knew Him.

'The lesson which Christ had taught him by the Sea of Galilee Peter carried with him throughout his life."

1
Come, every soul by sin oppressed,
  There’s mercy with the Lord;
And He will surely give you rest
  By trusting in His Word.
    Only trust Him! Only trust Him!
  Only trust Him now!
He will save you! He will save you!
    He will save you now!
2
For Jesus shed His precious blood
  Rich blessings to bestow;
Plunge now into the crimson flood
  That washeth white as snow.
3
Yes, Jesus is the Truth, the Way,
  That leads you into rest;
Believe in Him without delay,
  And you are fully blest.
4
Come then, and join the holy band,
  And on to glory go;
In Christ’s redemption take your stand,
  And all His goodness know.

Amen brother Beacon! No matter how great our sin, Christ longs to forgive us.

 I too was impressed with what you shared Pastor Sean.

To Peter the words "Follow Me" were full of instruction. Not only for his death, but for every step of his life, was the lesson given. Hitherto Peter had been inclined to act independently. He had tried to plan for the work of God, instead of waiting to follow out God's plan. But he could gain nothing by rushing on before the Lord. Jesus bids him, "Follow Me." Do not run ahead of Me. Then you will not have the hosts of Satan to meet alone. Let Me go before you, and you will not be overcome by the enemy.

Do not run ahead of me! That is a hard lesson to learn! But learn we will if not by Doctrine by experience.

"Though they were to be deprived of His personal companionship, and of the means of support by their former employment, the risen Saviour would still have a care for them."

" While they were doing His work, He would provide for their needs."

"Jesus had a purpose in bidding them cast their net on the right side of the ship. On that side He stood upon the shore."

"That was the side of faith. If they labored in connection with Him,--His divine power combining with their human effort,--they could not fail of success."

Oh that today we also might also recognize our great need of combining His divine power with our human effort.

In John 15:5 we read His Counsel for Success...."I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."

May we take the words of this song seriously,

   "When we walk with the Lord
  In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way;
  While we do His good will,
  He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
    Trust and obey,
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
  But to trust and obey.
2
Not a shadow can rise,
  Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
  Not a doubt or a fear,
  Not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
3
Not a burden we bear,
  Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
  Not a grief or a loss,
  Not a frown or a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey.
4
But we never can prove
  The delights of His love,
Until all on the altar we lay;
  For the favor He shows,
  And the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
5
Then in fellowship sweet
  We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
  What He says we will do;
  Where He sends, we will go,
Never fear, only trust and obey."

Amen, Brother Beacon!

It wasn't a direct answer. Jesus did not tell Peter what John's mission was, but He did encourage Peter to follow Him. Follow Jesus based on how He leads you, and let the Lord be the one to lead others!

"How many today are like Peter! They are interested in the affairs of others, and anxious to know their duty, while they are in danger of neglecting their own. It is our work to look to Christ and follow Him. We shall see mistakes in the lives of others, and defects in their character. Humanity is encompassed with infirmity. But in Christ we shall find perfection. Beholding Him, we shall become transformed." {The Desire of Ages, page 816, paragraph 3}

By beholding Christ we are changed. Let us look away from self to Jesus, let us trust Him constantly, and in true conversion accept the gift of the Holy Spirit who changes the heart from sinful unbelief to loving obedience spontaneously manifesting all of the fruits of the Spirit without one missing! Let's always walk with Jesus the way HE LEADS US!
"When we live by faith on the Son of God, the fruits of the Spirit will be seen in our lives; not one will be missing." {The Desire of Ages, 676.4}

Amen dear brothers! In seeing how Jesus dealt with Peter is an encouragement to us all. Reproof is for our good. When we sin privately, we do not need to repent publicly. But, when the sin is public, then we need to repent publicly. Thus, Jesus reproved Peter in the presence of His disciples. Why the need to make this public? It caused Peter great distress to have his love for Jesus called into question. Actually Jesus was not doing that because He knew Peter loved Him. He wanted all to see that Peter was transformed from sinner to saint so that he would be able to continue doing ministry with the disciples, and that as much as possible the reproach would be removed from the church, Jesus, and His Word.

Peter's denial of his Lord had been in shameful contrast to his former professions of loyalty. He had dishonored Christ, and had incurred the distrust of his brethren. They thought he would not be allowed to take his former position among them, and he himself felt that he had forfeited his trust. Before being called to take up again his apostolic work, he must before them all give evidence of his repentance. Without this, his sin, though repented of, might have destroyed his influence as a minister of Christ. The Saviour gave him opportunity to regain the confidence of his brethren, and, so far as possible, to remove the reproach he had brought upon the gospel.....Three times Peter had openly denied his Lord, and three times Jesus drew from him the assurance of his love and loyalty, pressing home that pointed question, like a barbed arrow to his wounded heart. Before the assembled disciples Jesus revealed the depth of Peter's repentance, and showed how thoroughly humbled was the once boasting disciple.

Peter was naturally forward and impulsive, and Satan had taken advantage of these characteristics to overthrow him. Just before the fall of Peter, Jesus had said to him, "Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: but I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren." Luke 22:31, 32. That time had now come, and the transformation in Peter was evident. The close, testing questions of the Lord had not called out one forward, self-sufficient reply; and because of his humiliation and repentance, Peter was better prepared than ever before to act as shepherd to the flock.

God is so very kind and wise!
Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.

What a Great Assurance of Success was given " IF " They, and also Us today, would only keep our fixed Eyes Upon Jesus

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free.
    Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
  In the light of His glory and grace.
2
Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O’er us sin no more hath dominion
For more than conqu’rors we are!
3
His Word shall not fail you, He promised;
Believe Him and all will be well;
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

These words have such deep significance not just for the leaders and ministers but for each of us. As we look back on our lives and realize just how gentle and kind our Saviour has dealt with us we in turn will serve and care patiently for others that are struggling with the flesh. Let us allow God to plan our lives for us and trust His leading.

Question is...Are "WE" willing to admit our Errors & Experience His Saving Grace.?

"I’ve wandered far away from God,
  Now I’m coming home;
The paths of sin too long I’ve trod,
  Lord, I’m coming home.
    Coming home, coming home,
  Nevermore to roam;
Open wide Thine arms of love;
    Lord, I’m coming home.
2
I’ve wasted many precious years,
  Now I’m coming home;
I now repent with bitter tears,
  Lord, I’m coming home.
3
I’m tired of sin and straying, Lord,
  Now I’m coming home;
I’ll trust Thy love, believe Thy word;
  Lord, I’m coming home.
4
My soul is sick, my heart is sore,
  Now I’m coming home;
My strength renew, my hope restore:
  Lord, I’m coming home.

My only hope, my only plea,
  Now I’m coming home;
That Jesus died, and died for me;
  Lord, I’m coming home.

  "How many today are like Peter! Beholding Him, we shall become transformed."

This needs repeating over and over. When we take our eyes off of Jesus life goes wrong. Thoughts become self centered and critical of others. By abiding constantly with Jesus our thoughts are pure and happy and focused on the needs and happiness of others. The work He does in our lives is a transforming work that changes us from our natural disposition to the beautiful characteristics of Jesus. All the fruits of the Spirit will be seen in our lives giving proof of our connection with Christ.
But this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press  toward the mark. Phil. 3:13,14

Amen dear sister!  I too chose this truth to share.  We all have defects of character that need to go. As long as we abide in Jesus and He in us, we shall not reveal these "moral" defects, for the heart has been cleansed as white as snow. The heart and mind are pure and holy. It is the flesh in the repentant Christian that is evil. We keep it under as Paul tells us, through the power of Christ.

"The Saviour gave him opportunity to regain the confidence of his brethren, and, so far as possible, to remove the reproach he had brought upon the gospel."

"Three times Peter had openly denied his Lord, and three times Jesus drew from him the assurance of his love and loyalty, pressing home that pointed question, like a barbed arrow to his wounded heart. Before the assembled disciples Jesus revealed the depth of Peter's repentance, and showed how thoroughly humbled was the once boasting disciple."

Amen Brother Beacon!  This is why He asked Peter three times....in front of others. Peter was shown to be truly repentant. We need to remember this need to remove reproach brought upon God, His Word, and His church as much as possible.
Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.
