"The law requires righteousness,--a righteous life, a perfect character; and this man has not to give. He cannot meet the claims of God's holy law. But Christ, coming to the earth as man, lived a holy life, and developed a perfect character."

"These He offers as a free gift to all who will receive them. His life stands for the life of men."

"Thus they have remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God. More than this, Christ imbues men with the attributes of God. He builds up the human character after the similitude of the divine character, a goodly fabric of spiritual strength and beauty."

"Thus the very righteousness of the law is fulfilled in the believer in Christ. God can "be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus." Romans 3:26."

"God's love has been expressed in His justice no less than in His mercy."

"Justice is the foundation of His throne, and the fruit of His love."

"It had been Satan's purpose to divorce mercy from truth and justice. He sought to prove that the righteousness of God's law is an enemy to peace."

"But Christ shows that in God's plan they are indissolubly joined together; the one cannot exist without the other."

"Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other." Psalm 85:10."

"By His life and His death, Christ proved that God's justice did not destroy His mercy, but that sin could be forgiven, and that the law is righteous, and can be perfectly obeyed."

"Satan's charges were refuted." "

"God had given man unmistakable evidence of His love"

What will "OUR" response be to God's Perfect Love??

================================
1
Amazing grace! how sweet the sound,
  That saved a wretch; like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
  Was blind, but now I see.
2
’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
  And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
  The hour I first believed!
3
The Lord hath promised good to me,
  His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
  As long as life endures.
4
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
  Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
  Than when we first begun.

Lyrics:John Newton (1725-1807)
Music:Traditional American melody
Look up and listen for the shout.

Amen, Brother Beacon!!

We can be SO thankful that God does not require what He does not offer us. But the ONLY way to get what we SO need is in Christ!

"The law requires righteousness,--a righteous life, a perfect character; and this man has not to give. He cannot meet the claims of God's holy law. But Christ, coming to the earth as man, lived a holy life, and developed a perfect character. These He offers as a free gift to all who will receive them. His life stands for the life of men. Thus they have remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God. More than this, Christ imbues men with the attributes of God. He builds up the human character after the similitude of the divine character, a goodly fabric of spiritual strength and beauty. Thus the very righteousness of the law is fulfilled in the believer in Christ. God can 'be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.' Romans 3:26." {The Desire of Ages, page 762, paragraph 2}

It is when we fully surrender to Christ--all the truth He has revealed to us--and walk in faith and victory that all of the fruits of the Spirit without one missing are in our lives! This is evidence that we are truly experiencing the joy of union and communion with God in Christ by the Holy Spirit, affectionately obeying His law of love! Let us go forth as His missionaries today to share the light of His character as Jesus is coming SO SOON!!
"When we live by faith on the Son of God, the fruits of the Spirit will be seen in our lives; not one will be missing." {The Desire of Ages, 676.4}

Amen my dear brothers! How important that those seeking truth understand what we three have shared today. We usually quote a paragraph, but today, I am impressed that it is important that we tie a few truths together by sharing a few paragraphs. The great controversy is opened before our eyes and the truth from God and the great lie put forth by Satan are clearly presented that all may see Satan is wrong and God's ways are right.

    In the opening of the great controversy, Satan had declared that the law of God could not be obeyed, that justice was inconsistent with mercy, and that, should the law be broken, it would be impossible for the sinner to be pardoned. Every sin must meet its punishment, urged Satan; and if God should remit the punishment of sin, He would not be a God of truth and justice. When men broke the law of God, and defied His will, Satan exulted. It was proved, he declared, that the law could not be obeyed; man could not be forgiven. Because he, after his rebellion, had been banished from heaven, Satan claimed that the human race must be forever shut out from God's favor. God could not be just, he urged, and yet show mercy to the sinner.
     But even as a sinner, man was in a different position from that of Satan. Lucifer in heaven had sinned in the light of God's glory. To him as to no other created being was given a revelation of God's love. Understanding the character of God, knowing His goodness, Satan chose to follow his own selfish, independent will. This choice was final. There was no more that God could do to save him. But man was deceived; his mind was darkened by Satan's sophistry. The height and depth of the love of God he did not know. For him there was hope in a knowledge of God's love. By beholding His character he might be drawn back to God.
     Through Jesus, God's mercy was manifested to men; but mercy does not set aside justice. The law reveals the attributes of God's character, and not a jot or tittle of it could be changed to meet man in his fallen condition. God did not change His law, but He sacrificed Himself, in Christ, for man's redemption. "God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself." 2 Corinthians 5:19.
     The law requires righteousness,--a righteous life, a perfect character; and this man has not to give. He cannot meet the claims of God's holy law. But Christ, coming to the earth as man, lived a holy life, and developed a perfect character. These He offers as a free gift to all who will receive them. His life stands for the life of men. Thus they have remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God. More than this, Christ imbues men with the attributes of God. He builds up the human character after the similitude of the divine character, a goodly fabric of spiritual strength and beauty. Thus the very righteousness of the law is fulfilled in the believer in Christ. God can "be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus." Romans 3:26...........

    At the beginning of the great controversy, the angels did not understand this. Had Satan and his host then been left to reap the full result of their sin, they would have perished; but it would not have been apparent to heavenly beings that this was the inevitable result of sin. A doubt of God's goodness would have remained in their minds as evil seed, to produce its deadly fruit of sin and woe.
     But not so when the great controversy shall be ended. Then, the plan of redemption having been completed, the character of God is revealed to all created intelligences. The precepts of His law are seen to be perfect and immutable. Then sin has made manifest its nature, Satan his character. Then the extermination of sin will vindicate God's love and establish His honor before a universe of beings who delight to do His will, and in whose heart is His law.
     Well, then, might the angels rejoice as they looked upon the Saviour's cross; for though they did not then understand all, they knew that the destruction of sin and Satan was forever made certain, that the redemption of man was assured, and that the universe was made eternally secure. Christ Himself fully comprehended the results of the sacrifice made upon Calvary. To all these He looked forward when upon the cross He cried out, "It is finished."

Amen!! And not only is Satan's character revealed and God's character revealed, all may now understand the answer to that most common question asked "If your God is all powerful, which He is, and you say His character is revealed as infinite love, then why does He allow bad things to happen to good people? Why are innocent little ones hurt?" We of all people have been greatly  blessed with the answer. To whom much is given much is expected. Go forth now and teach this important truth. It will open the door for the salvation of a great multitude.

And, has it not been revealed that we can keep the commandments of God, and how it is that we can do so by being transformed in character. And are we not told how  it is that we are transformed from sinner to saint, by beholding His character of justice and love? We can become a partaker of His divine nature. On the cross Jesus finished all that was necessary on His part that a gift was offered to all who would accept it. Genesis 3:15 was completed on God's side, it is left with man to do his part that he might obtain a hatred of Satan and sin. God's part was immeasurably large, our part is immeasurably small. Our part is to behold the glory of God so that we will be re-created in His image (character). 2 Cor. 3:18. When God has a people who have ceased sinning, our part will be finished. Then Jesus will come!
Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.

Minutes after making my post here, I was greatly blessed at the end of Thursday's Sabbath School lesson. It appears the teacher understands what we have shared today from reading Desire of Ages. He quotes  my favorite truth found in Desire of Ages. Truly a man after our own hearts.

Thursday  February 15
Forget Not All His Benefits

Read Psalms 103:1-22.

1 (A Psalm of David.) Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

6 The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.

7 He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.

8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.

10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.

14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.

16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.

17 But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;

18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.

19 The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.

20 Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.

21 Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.

22 Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul.

How is God’s mercy portrayed here?

Psalms 103:1-22 enumerates the Lord’s manifold blessings. The blessings include “all his benefits” (Psalms 103:2) for a flourishing life (Psalms 103:3-6). These blessings are grounded in God’s gracious character and in His faithfulness to His covenant with Israel (Psalms 103:7-18). The Lord “remembers” human frailty and transience and has compassion on His people (see Psalms 103:13-17).

Remembering is more than mere cognitive activity. It involves a commitment that is expressed in action: God delivers and sustains His people (Psalms 103:3-13). The powerful images in Psalms 103:11-16 illustrate the immeasurable greatness of God’s grace, which can be compared only to the infinite vastness of the heavens (Isaiah 55:9).

Remembering comes about by something we are told to do by Jesus. We are to "watch and pray."

How, then, should people respond to God’s loving-kindness?

First, by blessing the Lord (Psalms 103:1-2).

Blessing is generally understood as an act of bestowing material and spiritual benefits upon someone (Genesis 49:25; Psalms 5:12). Because God is the Source of all blessings, how can human beings bless God? An inferior can bless a superior as a means of thanking or praising him (1 Kings 8:66; Job 29:13). God blesses people by conferring good on them, and people bless God by praising the good in Him; that is, by revering Him for His gracious character.

Second, by remembering all His benefits and His covenant (Psalms 103:2; Psalms 103:18-22), just as the Lord remembers the feeble human condition and His covenant with His people (Psalms 103:3-13). Remembering is a crucial aspect of the relationship between God and His people. Just as God remembers His promises to the people, so the people are indebted to remember God’s faithfulness and respond to God with love and obedience.

With this idea in mind, these famous words of Ellen G. White are so appropriate: “It would be well for us to spend a thoughtful hour each day in contemplation of the life of Christ. We should take it point by point, and let the imagination grasp each scene, especially the closing ones. As we thus dwell upon His great sacrifice for us, our confidence in Him will be more constant, our love will be quickened, and we shall be more deeply imbued with His spirit. If we would be saved at last, we must learn the lesson of penitence and humiliation at the foot of the cross.”—The Desire of Ages, p. 83.

Amen!!!!!!  This is our part, to remember what God has done for us. We are saved by grace. Here is the great revelation of that grace. With a blood covered Savior we behold His grace and remember it so that we are transformed in character (2 Cor. 3:18). We are a forgetful people and need to be reminded every day of His grace. We must die to self daily. I praise God for the teacher who ended today's lesson by sharing this most important truth. It is indeed well to spend a thoughtful hour each day contemplating God's love for us. By beholding His glory which is His character we will be transformed from sinner to saint.

Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.
