No repentance is genuine that does not work reformation. The righteousness of Christ is not a cloak to cover unconfessed and unforsaken sin; it is a principle of life that transforms the character and controls the conduct. Holiness is wholeness for God; it is the entire surrender of heart and life to the indwelling of the principles of heaven.

The life of Zacchaeus is a wonderful example of what Jesus does in the heart and life when surrendered to Him. Nothing is held back and we only want to please Him and make all wrongs right.

Amen my dear brothers and sister!  When we love the Lord our God with the whole heart, Jesus cleanses it whiter than snow and all of the fruits of the Spirit will be seen in the life of the repentant sinner.

But no sooner did Zacchaeus yield to the influence of the Holy Spirit than he cast aside every practice contrary to integrity.

  Zacchaeus had been overwhelmed, amazed, and silenced at the love and condescension of Christ in stooping to him, so unworthy. Now love and loyalty to his new-found Master unseal his lips. He will make public his confession and his repentance.
     In the presence of the multitude, "Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken anything from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
     "And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham."

    What do we see here, the overwhelming love of God. The conviction of the Holy Spirit, the surrender to that love and conviction of the Holy Spirit. The transformation taking place in Zacchaeus's heart, the outpouring of that love from Zacchaeus's heart to those around him, giving witness to the transformation of his heart, and a testimony to those around him.  True conversion leads to sharing that transformation with those around us. What a powerful thing we see in these three paragraphs.

Amen, Brother Beacon, Brother Jim, Sister Dorine, Brother Richard, and Brother Philip! What a blessing to have each of us sharing what Jesus has shown us! May the Lord bring even more together to share of the loveliness of Jesus!

Are you willing to let the Lord save you? The conditions are not complicated, and ALL can come to Jesus, just as they are!

"It is when Christ is received as a personal Saviour that salvation comes to the soul. Zacchaeus had received Jesus, not merely as a passing guest in his home, but as One to abide in the soul temple. The scribes and Pharisees accused him as a sinner, they murmured against Christ for becoming his guest, but the Lord recognized him as a son of Abraham. For 'they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.' Galatians 3:7." {The Desire of Ages, page 556, paragraph 4}

When Jesus does come into the heart in true conversion, all of the fruits of the Spirit will be seen in the life--not one will be missing! Gladly we become a blessing to those around us, and seek to make things right in our relationship with God and others. God is so good!
"When we live by faith on the Son of God, the fruits of the Spirit will be seen in our lives; not one will be missing." {The Desire of Ages, 676.4}

Are "WE" willing to surrender "ALL TO JESUS."
===================
All to Jesus I surrender,
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.

I surrender all,
  I surrender all.
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
    I surrender all.
2
All to Jesus I surrender,
Humbly at His feet I bow,
Worldly pleasures all forsaken;
Take me, Jesus, take me now.
3
All to Jesus I surrender,
Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel Thy Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine.
4
All to Jesus I surrender,
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power,
Let Thy blessing fall on me.
5
All to Jesus I surrender,
Now I feel the sacred flame.
Oh, the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory to His name!

To Zacchaeus the Saviour said, "This day is salvation come to this house." Not only was Zacchaeus himself blessed, but all his household with him. Christ went to his home to give him lessons of truth, and to instruct his household in the things of the kingdom. They had been shut out from the synagogues by the contempt of rabbis and worshipers; but now, the most favored household in all Jericho, they gathered in their own home about the divine Teacher, and heard for themselves the words of life.

The same story could have been said about the rich young ruler but his riches were his god. Zacchaeus shows that even with all his wealth his soul longed for something deeper and he was willing to find and accept it. He and his family may have been sinful outcasts to the religious leaders but when Jesus enters your heart and home nothing else matters. Everything changes. Wrongs are made right and burdens are lifted because all is forgiven.

Amen!! We are truly blessed as we behold the life of Jesus.

     The Christian in his business life is to represent to the world the manner in which our Lord would conduct business enterprises. In every transaction he is to make it manifest that God is his teacher. "Holiness unto the Lord" is to be written upon daybooks and ledgers, on deeds, receipts, and bills of exchange. Those who profess to be followers of Christ, and who deal in an unrighteous manner, are bearing false witness against the character of a holy, just, and merciful God. Every converted soul will, like Zacchaeus, signalize the entrance of Christ into his heart by an abandonment of the unrighteous practices that have marked his life. Like the chief publican, he will give proof of his sincerity by making restitution. The Lord says, "If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; . . . none of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: . . . He shall surely live." Ezekiel 33:15, 16.

Amen, Brother Beacon!

What a blessing it is to receive Christ as a personal Savior from sin, Lord of our lives to direct our decisions, and the One who is able to fill us with all of the fruits of the Spirit without one missing as we obey God up to the light of His law He has revealed to us!

"It is when Christ is received as a personal Saviour that salvation comes to the soul. Zacchaeus had received Jesus, not merely as a passing guest in his home, but as One to abide in the soul temple. The scribes and Pharisees accused him as a sinner, they murmured against Christ for becoming his guest, but the Lord recognized him as a son of Abraham. Being part of God's family is such a blessing! It is so encouraging to see precious souls here in Papua New Guinea so open to God's truth!

Amen my dear brothers!! The power of God's grace can even transform rich men! There are many open to the truth, rich and poor, and it appears according to Pastor Sean very many in Papua New Guinea!

   In matters of conscience the soul must be left untrammeled. No one is to control another's mind, to judge for another, or to prescribe his duty. God gives to every soul freedom to think, and to follow his own convictions. "Every one of us shall give account of himself to God." No one has a right to merge his own individuality in that of another. In all matters where principle is involved, "let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind." Romans 14:12, 5. In Christ's kingdom there is no lordly oppression, no compulsion of manner. The angels of heaven do not come to the earth to rule, and to exact homage, but as messengers of mercy, to co-operate with men in uplifting humanity.
Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.

An unconverted heart tries to justify actions and attitudes that Jesus condemns. Is it worth it? There is never peace. When our hearts yearn for things that are evil we are not to go by feelings but by falling on our knees in confession and a cry for help (even if we do not "feel" like it). By faith we accept what God requires of us and by clinging to Jesus we are forgiven and transformed and finally know peace. The struggle with self is very real but God is by our side always ready to help. It is amazing how the Holy Spirit will change the "feelings" of resistance into "feelings" of peace and joy and a transformed heart of willing obedience and gratitude.

Praise the Lord that we can accept Christ as a personal Savior and walk in His will! All of the fruits of the Spirit without one missing will be revealed in our lives without one missing as God empowers us to live in true obedience!

   "The chief among the publicans," Zacchaeus, was a Jew, and detested by his countrymen. His rank and wealth were the reward of a calling they abhorred, and which was regarded as another name for injustice and extortion. Yet the wealthy customs officer was not altogether the hardened man of the world that he seemed. Beneath the appearance of worldliness and pride was a heart susceptible to divine influences. Zacchaeus had heard of Jesus. The report of One who had borne Himself with kindness and courtesy toward the proscribed classes had spread far and wide. In this chief of the publicans was awakened a longing for a better life. Only a few miles from Jericho, John the Baptist had preached at the Jordan, and Zacchaeus had heard of the call to repentance. The instruction to the publicans, "Exact no more than that which is appointed you" (Luke 3:13), though outwardly disregarded, had impressed his mind. He knew the Scriptures, and was convicted that his practice was wrong. Now, hearing the words reported to have come from the Great Teacher, he felt that he was a sinner in the sight of God. Yet what he had heard of Jesus kindled hope in his heart. Repentance, reformation of life, was possible, even to him; was not one of the new Teacher's most trusted disciples a publican? Zacchaeus began at once to follow the conviction that had taken hold upon him, and to make restitution to those whom he had wronged.

The message in the story of Zacchaeus should stamp out any self-righteous, judgmental thoughts towards others who are dishonest in their dealings with others. We do not read hearts and Zacchaeus though hated for his unfair dealings was touched by the words of John the Baptist and of Jesus and the Holy Spirit was able to bring him to a place of humility and repentance.

"The things which are impossible with men are possible with God." Mark 10:24, 26; Luke 18:27. They saw how, through the grace of God, a rich man could enter into the kingdom.

I praise the Lord that He works the impossible. It is something He specializes in. Both the rich and the poor have their disadvantages.

Pro 30:8 Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:

Pro 30:9 Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.
By communion with God in nature, the mind is uplifted, and the heart finds rest.  {DA 291.1}

Amen my dear friends! We see here the power of grace to transform a sinner into a saint. We look at great sinners such as was Zacchaeus as opportunities to teach them about Jesus.

No repentance is genuine that does not work reformation. Some truths are so important, they need to be repeated often. Many professing Christians Jesus calls "Laodiceans." It would be good to read what He has said about the churches today. Rev. 3:14-22.  Here is a bit of truth that will align with the message in Revelation.

     But no sooner did Zacchaeus yield to the influence of the Holy Spirit than he cast aside every practice contrary to integrity.

Yes, the grace of God transforms sinners into saints no matter how many teach otherwise. "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother." 1 John 3:9,10.

This truth means that our dirty clothes are not seen, because they have been removed. Let your light shine that others might know of the power of God to change all who will learn of Him. And, let us not forget to share a most important verse. One that Moses understood when Satan came to him and said "of all people, you are the greatest hypocrite, even the great Moses sins."  We all know how Moses responded, thus he is in heaven today. Here is the verse: "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous." 1 John 2:1. Don't leave sinners without hope. It is a narrow and steep road to heaven, but all can get there if they will learn of the goodness of God.

 It would be well to spend a thoughtful hour each day reviewing the life of Christ from the manger to Calvary. We should take it point by point, and let the imagination vividly grasp each scene, especially the closing ones of his earthly life. By thus contemplating his teachings and sufferings, and the infinite sacrifice made by him for the redemption of the race, we may strengthen our faith, quicken our love, and become more deeply imbued with the spirit which sustained our Saviour. If we would be saved at last, we must learn the lesson of penitence and faith at the foot of the cross.... Everything noble and generous in man will respond to the contemplation of Christ upon the cross.  Gospel Workers, pg92.

Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.

This short paragraph has such depth that it would do well to linger and meditate on what is being expressed. Sadly this truth is not accepted by many. There is nothing mysterious or hidden in these words. They are plain but man has a way of mixing and confusing the simplest teachings to justify his own actions and attitudes. May God wake us up and be willing to search the scriptures for ourselves to know what is truth and what the Lord requires of us in order to live with Him here and throughout eternity.
