Two weeks ago the La Sierra University Church celebrated the beginning of the rebellion to make women leaders over men in God's church. The immorality has spread to the American Armed Forces that will now place daughters and wives on the front line of battle. In another attempt to make women equal with men, a lawsuit has been brought to make the Selective Service begin registering girls for the draft.
Invited to the celebration at La Sierra were the first five women to be ordained as ministers in their conferences. Larry Geraty, Past President of the school, himself a leader in the rebellion, gave an overview of how they succeeded in making a start to place women over men in the church. It began with the ordination of a woman as a local elder. According to Geraty that woman a few years later in 1975 was made associate pastor at the Sligo Seventh-day Adventist Church. The first five women placed as leaders over men were ordained in 1995 just a short time after the World Church voted "no" to a request from the North American Division to allow each division to decide the matter. That vote was made by the General Conference in Session at Utrecht, in the Netherlands.
