Haven't seen the eaglets all day, even on the approach cam. Maybe they are finally fledged?

They both fledged Sun and Mon. They will return to the nest until they can get enough to eat on their own.   :)  Aren't they having fun!!! Can you imagine their first attempt to catch a fish!!!

Jr is finally behaving himself.  Here we see them both in the nest being fed by Dad.

Well....too many believe God is going to change their character when Jesus comes. Not so. And, since it is left to us to cling to Christ to form a character that fits us for heaven, this short lesson may be invaluable to motivate us to daily form such characters that reflect Christ. For, once the character is formed, it is not so easy to change it. Just look at Junior. He still is stuck with his selfish character, even though he can get his own food now. Look at him fighting in the nest to keep the "little one" out.   :(

Sure Jesus will change people's character( thoughts feelings )  at the Second Coming, complacency and defiance changes to terror and hysteria.

But that's the result of destiny, not preparation for Heaven.

Jr may "little one" grow bigger and tougher in time and part your onrey tail feathers with a tree trunk.  Sometimes it happens that way, behave or it may come back to bite you.

I pass by an eagle's nest every day on my way to and from work.  They usually successfully raise 2 youngsters.  I can see the the 2 young eagles quite clearly now, but the nest is high in a pine tree, and I'm not sure about the family dynamics while the chicks are small and unable to be seen from below.  The must achieve some kind of balance, or there would never be more than one survivor.

That would seem so, Wally. This is what was such a blessing from following the daily activities of the two eagles as they prepared their nest, protected the eggs, and cared for their young. We got to see the day to day interactions of all of this. It was quite educational. And, there are many object lessons. The parents were so very caring.

As for survival, some do not survive because of the pecking order established early. In this nest, the only reason the "little one" survived was because there was enough food to fill up "Junior". He could not eat any more and would often have to spread out and sleep. Then the "little one" would be able to eat. It was pretty sad to watch. It is quite and object lesson of sin and selfishness. The world loves it, they say it illustrates survival of the fittest. But, the truth is, there is a God in heaven who has provided enough food for all. What I saw was the work of the evil one in making even the animals suffer from the sin of man. God gives us a correct object lesson in the faithfulness of the parents to each other and their eaglets. The mother and father give the selfish one all he takes, then get more for the other one. Sometimes the weaker one will be killed or starve. So we see the same in the world today. There is enough food in the world to feed all, but it does not happen.

Wally, you are blessed to have a nest close by!  You can see what we did not see, the eaglets fledging. We saw a little, but not much because of the camera placement. Take some video for us!!

Once the chicks are fledged don't the parents revisit the nest ?

They usually roost near the nest most of the year.  I often see them there during the winter.  I'm not sure where the young fly off to.

We are a a little ways away from laying eggs yet but apparently the parents have been seen frequenting the nest more recently. Should be interesting to see if they make the nest bigger this year.

The chicks have hatched Feb 13th, and the parents are feeding them and keeping them warm.
