Of course it is all symbolic. But, then who chose to use the male and female symbols....and why?
Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.

God did. He has His order:

1Co 11:3  But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

God the Father
Christ, the Son
Man, male
Woman, female

The church is the bride - female. Christ is the bridegroom - the husband.

Rev_21:2  And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Christ honored the marriage relation by making it also a symbol of the union between Him and His redeemed ones. He Himself is the Bridegroom; the bride is the church, of which, as His chosen one, He says, "Thou art all fair, My love; there is no spot in thee."  {AH 26.2}

Good illustration. We know the man who put it together.

Regarding the symbols, it is such a good illustration to show that society knows that pants are for men and skirts are for women. That is the only obvious difference between the symbols. People don't realize how much gender distinction and clothing are linked together. The only quote from Ellen White that show in a  clear way that God's people are not to be involved in the women's rights movement, also links the clothes.

"Those who feel called out to join the movement in favor of woman's rights and the so-called dress reform might as well sever all connection with the third angel's message." 4T 421

The so-called reform dress, the American Costume, was a knee length dress over pants. Elizabeth Cady Stanton, who was foremost in promoting both, called for the ordination of woman. When one studies history, they should see how the masculine clothes on women paved the way for women's ordination, followed by homosexuality. It's all contrary to God's plan.

There is yet another case in Church history where a similar abuse (namely of blurring or destroying the distinction between the sexes in point of dress) had occurred: namely, vested women in Episcopalian / Anglican church MIXED choirs of men and women. The average traditional Anglican parish church choir consists of men and boys in surplices, cassocks, and/or cottas, and sitting in the chancel. Here is an image of one of such traditional choirs:

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KdCinxXz0VY/U5u_O9Rs21I/AAAAAAAAcuw/euovmCWPSFA/s1600/whittington_choir3132.jpg.

The surplice is the traditional costume distinctive of clergymen in Holy Orders in the Anglican church. And this costume has been traditionally a male costume, because traditionally, only MALES could be ordained to Holy Orders. Only baptized MALES could enter the Anglican clergy! Therefore to put such a costume on a FEMALE member of a church choir is just as contrary to the laws of Nature and Nature's God as to dress up females like males! I pray that God would give designers of choir robes the guidance to construct a choir uniform for the respective sexes which duly recognizes and preserves the God-given distinction between male and female.

One of the FIRST clergymen in England to PROMOTE this very abuse I am condemning is a certain Rev. H. R. Haweis. Here is a picture of his mixed choir: http://www.art.com/products/p37098287571-sa-i9765951/the-reverend-h-r-haweis-and-his-mixed-choir.htm?sOrig=CAT&sOrigID=0&dimVals=207238&ui=D83795D16A5D42319D2729D7E2978D91&aaCanvas=true&pe=true&ac=true&PODConfigID=4985774. The women are wearing the SAME surplices as MEN - the only difference is that the women are wearing GRADUATION CAPS and the men have their head uncovered.

A certain Canon Liddon, CONDEMNED this innovation. He said:

Quote
It is difficult to say whether the spectacle of ladies dressed in surplices, and so on, in church is more irreverent than it is certainly grotesque. It is 'greatly to be hoped that the good sense and Christian feeling of the Australian churches [and all other Protestant or professedly Christian churches] will steadily discourage anything of the kind, and especially for the sake of the ladies concerned.

But those who are interested in preserving the proper distinction between the sexes also need a correct and doctrinally sound theology of the choir. As I stated before, the traditional "Catholic" or "Anglican" choir consists of man/boy laics dressed up like amateur clergymen and seated in the chancel. As it turns out, that problem was already solved over 100 years ago. Though writing from a Confessional Lutheran perspective, a certain man named Luther E. Reed, concludes that the true and divinely ordained role of the New Testament Church Choir is this:

(1) To constitute either an occasional and supplementary part or an ordinary and integral part of ideal Christian public worship, (2) “Though leading the Congregation in Hymns and Responses, though in all its efforts using the gifts of the Spirit for the mutual edification of all worshippers,” to exercise the especial function of sounding “the voice of the Church Universal in the local Congregation, and to impress upon the latter the thought of its organic connection with all believers”; (3) To endeavor diligently “to elucidate the essential, organic unity and completeness of each individual service, and consequently in its selection of its distinctive music it must be guided not only by regard for purity and “churchliness” of style, but first of all by principles of liturgical unity”.

He REFUTES the Papist (i.e. so-called Roman Catholic) and Anglican High-Church notion the Church Choir in the New Testament is divinely constituted to be ‘a species of “minor clergy,”’ or that it is Divinely intended to be an official body which exercises ‘certain ministerial functions either by reason of its independent character as a body separate from the Congregation as such, or because of powers which the latter may delegate to it’.

See: https://books.google.com/books?id=NEdQAQAAMAAJ&pg=PA677&dq=%22observe+a+seeking+of+the+old+paths,+a+study+of+forgotten+principles,+and+a+resumption+of+historic+practices+that+shall,+under+the+Spirit%E2%80%99s+guidance,+lead+us+into+the+truth%22&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwivo9W5lfbVAhVB7oMKHeKyDAUQ6AEIKDAA#v=onepage&q=%22observe%20a%20seeking%20of%20the%20old%20paths%2C%20a%20study%20of%20forgotten%20principles%2C%20and%20a%20resumption%20of%20historic%20practices%20that%20shall%2C%20under%20the%20Spirit%E2%80%99s%20guidance%2C%20lead%20us%20into%20the%20truth%22&f=false.

If it were not for the fundamental ERROR of the Papists in their theology of the choir, no church would have ever DARED to place man/boy lay members of the choirs in such a clerical costume like the surplice, and the Rev H. R. Haweis would have never DARED to take the opportunity to put the surplice on his WOMEN choristers! This "reverend" of the Anglican Church will have to answer to God Almighty for all the SCANDAL that this innovation has caused!

But there were Female Ministers in Ellen White's day.

I just don't see any connection between Homosexuality and Women's Ordination at all. And I don't see the Ordination of Women as Ministers as having anything to do with the Women's Rights Movement, either.
Matthew 9:36-38
36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.
37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

It is a fact that the churches which have ordained women have  gone on to normalize homosexuality, including accepting them into membership and allowing them to become pastors.  There may not be a direct connection, but once a church or individual deviates from the path of truth, they will inevitably stray further and further from the divine pattern.
So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants:  we have done that which was our duty to do.  Luke 17:10

What we are observing is something unwholesome and rather frightening evolving universally and we sense that things are all somehow connected in the overall moral decline....the feminist movement, homosexuality, the transgender issue, emasculation, and we wonder where does women's ordination fit into the grand scheme of things? How big a deal is women's ordination as an issue? Is it a part of something bigger? I say this cautiously, but I see a parallel between the push to pass laws permitting gay marriage and the push for women's ordination. On the surface both are presented as an issue of gender equality rights, but might there be a broader, further reaching agenda? We do well to step back, ask questions, examine historical roots and links and to try to connect the dots beneath the murkiness.

Hello Marelis, good to see you back!

You are right. There is a larger issue than the ordination of women pastors or the acceptance of homosexuality. These are only symptoms of a much more serious problem. When you look at those who support both, you find that they are part of a larger society. And, we can say that most of the time for those that in either group, not all, but most. They have something in common with another larger group, their attitude and understanding of the gospel message and salvation.

When we love God supremely and give Christ the whole heart, we then have the Holy Spirit abiding in the heart. With Him comes the work of His office, leading the converted in to all truth. That is to say they have "spiritual discernment." And, the foundation of Christianity is the gospel message, salvation by grace.  Those who are in either the group that is in rebellion against the church by ordaining or supporting those who ordain women pastors, or those who support bringing homosexuals into the church, reveal they have no spiritual discernment. Thus, they are easily deceived as to the plan of salvation and our continual need of Jesus in order to do any good thing.

First Satan deceives as to what it means to be converted, then he brings decoys into the church, then he makes some pastors, then he is able to lead these "Laodiceans" into believing all kinds of heresy. When the Holy Spirit speaks, they ignore, but there is another spirit that they follow. Human wisdom will always fail. There is a way which seemeth right, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Ask those who belong in either of the two groups, if they believe they retain salvation when they commit a known sin. The wages of one sin is spiritual and everlasting death unless there is repentance. This is a foreign thought to those in these two groups. If any do not understand this and are not part of those two groups, listen to God's warning to Eve, then listen to what Satan said to her, his great lie which continues on today. Read Ezekiel chapters 3, 18, and 33 the message given to the prophet to given to Israel who was to take it to the world. Here is one of the three statements (all say the same thing): "Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his [righteousness] in the day that he sinneth. When I shall say to the righteous, [that] he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it." Ezekiel 33:12,13.

Our only hope in Christ. We must become partakers of His divine nature (2 Peter 1:4). When surrender the whole heart, then His representative the Holy Spirit takes possession of the heart and brings with Him every one of the fruits of the Spirit and empowers repentant man to keep the law of God. This relationship with Christ must be maintained in order that we have power to resist all temptations to sin. Christ promises us He will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear, but this is a conditional promise. It is only for those who love Jesus supremely and abide in Him and He in them. This is foreign to those we find in those two groups because they are not following the Word and Spirit of God. They lack spiritual discernment.
Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.
