Android Audio Book Player
« on: March 16, 2014, 12:58:07 PM »
I figured I'm not the only one who spends time riding in a car so I thought I'd share an app that I recently found. It's called "MortPlayer Audio Books". If you'll use that in the "play store" you will find it. It will work both with Android phones and Android tablets including the Nook (but not the simple touch models).

What is nice about this player is that it will recognize when you unplug the audio jack and will stop playing and then remember where you left off when you plug it back in.  It will also stop playing if you receive a phone call or other audio notifications that you get and then resume once they stop. You can create "book marks" in your audio book to make it easier to jump back to spots that you want to listen to again. This is especially nice if you're like me and sometimes jump between books. If it's been a little while since you used the app it will go back 10 seconds from the place you last stopped at so it's easier to remember where you left off.

Are you finding good audio books online?

Yes... the EGW estate has over 40 books that you can download from the link below. The quality of the audio has been improved if you were not happy before. Last week I started the Great Controversy.

A few years ago I purchased a Bible on mp3 cd's for around $17.00 that I have also put on my phone. You can now find them cheaper if you'll look around.

I also found John Bunyan's books Pilgrims Progress and Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners for free. However, since these are free books done by volunteers at home the quality is a little lacking but I don't mind. Steps to Christ is also alvailable for free on the same website, however, the audio quality at the above link for the EGW Estate is superior.

However, because this apps uses folders to differentiate between the books they don't really have to be books. You could also put a sermon series in a folder and it would act the same way. It's just mp3 files in folders.
