FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - May 3, 2011 - Flowers Foods today announces that, out of an abundance of caution, it is voluntarily recalling the products listed below with the following best by date codes: May 11th 0355 119 and May 12th 0355 120.

The affected product may involve the following states--Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia—as well as the following areas: Southern California, southwest Colorado, southern Illinois, southeastern Kansas, south and central Nevada, southern New Jersey, southern Ohio, southern Pennsylvania, and extreme southwestern Utah.

The majority of the product involved was still in Flowers’ possession and has been pulled from the company’s distribution system. As an extra precaution, Flowers issued the voluntary recall and is proceeding to retrieve all affected product from the market. Grocers are advised to withdraw these products for sale and hold it for pickup by the company.

Consumers are urged to return these products with the best by date/UPC codes noted to the place of purchase for product replacement or refund. Consumers with questions may contact Flowers’ Consumer Relations Center at 1-866-245-8921.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - November 25, 2011 -Ocean Spray today announced it has taken the precautionary measure of voluntarily recalling certain production lots of its Original Flavor Craisins® Dried Cranberries product in 5-ounce, 10-ounce and 48-ounce packages as well as bulk sweetened dried cranberries in 10-pound packages due to the possible presence of very small hair-like metal fragments that are unlikely to cause consumer injury.

To date, the company has not received any reports of consumer complaints relating to this recall. No injuries or adverse effects have been reported regarding these products to date. Ocean Spray issued the voluntary recall out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of our consumers.

No other Ocean Spray brand products are affected.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - December 2, 2011 - THOMASVILLE, GA - Flowers Foods today announced that, out of an abundance of caution, it has pulled off store shelves in certain Florida and southeast Georgia counties loaves of its Nature's Own Butterbread with the specific best by date of 12/7/11 and the UPC code 72250-04919 because they may contain small flakes of aluminum. No other Nature's Own bakery products are affected.

Counties involved in the product withdrawal: In Florida: Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Brevard, Clay, Columbia, Dixie, Duval, Flagler, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Marion, Nassau, Putnam, St. Johns, Suwannee, Union, and Volusia In Georgia: Atkinson, Bacon, Brantley, Camden, Charlton, Clinch, Glynn, Long, McIntosh, Pierce, Ware, and Wayne

And they say that they pulled most of the product from their system?  It took awhile to get the message out. 99.9% of any bread with that date in retail stores has been eaten already. The stores pulled the bread long ago.  Better late than never, but it surely would be better to get the word out a little faster.
