Has spring arrived for everyone (in the Northern part of the world)?  I was lamenting yesterday as I walked in nature that weeds seem to grow faster than flowers!!!  I can't believe that in a field that I had mowed a few weeks ago (it seems), the weeds are knee high already!  Just overnight, the grasses grew rapidly with the warm sun and the rains.

What was very impressive was the new growth in the trees, shrubs, and flowers. I have not recalled so much new growth in such a short time span. Flowers popping up and leaves coming forth so fast the deer can't keep up!!  Spring is truly here in the West.  How is it up North?

Well to answer that question I tell you both on Sabbath and today I've seen snow flurries and it's currently 37o and birds are starting to nest in leave-less trees. However, I'm told that it is suppose to hit high 50s/low 60s this week with a lot of rain. I'm still hoping for spring :)

Spring is trying to arrive; a few crocuses and snowdrops are blooming; but we had an inch of snow Friday and it couldn't get out of the 40's yesterday.  We've been well below normal for the first half of April.  Quite a contrast from last year, when I had already tilled by garden and was ready to plant peas and chard.  It's 1/3 covered with snow and the rest is a quagmire.

I'm just glad I'm not in North Dakota.   ::)

Has anyone been praying for warmer weather?  It seems to me that for the last 10 or 15 years, our winters have gotten longer. It used to get really hot in April, but not for a long time.

Warmer weather?  It seems like for the most part (winter has tried to sneak back in a couple of times!) it's been warmer here this spring.  Lots of above average temps.  In spite of this, many trees around here are struggling to green up.  Years of below average moisture and being in a drought to blame for that I'm afraid.  Still, there are areas of green here and there brightening things up and a very welcome sight!   :)

I don't know about the other years, but last spring we stole the warmth from you, Richard.  ;)  We had one of the warmest Marches on record and April was also above average.  When I lived out west I noticed (and some meteorologists agreed) that often when the west was warm the east was cold, and vice versa.

Maybe we should all move to the ocean; that's where all the global warming is being stored.  ;D

Yes with all of the discarded plastic, oil, and garbage.  :P

Spring may very well be on the way but this Sabbath morning I woke up to a dusting of snow and 29o. However, I am thankful as it is a wonderful sunny morning. Haven't seen the sun it seems in a few days so this a blessing. :)

We're having Colorado weather lately.  Near freezing in the valleys (below freezing this morning) and then 70° + during the day.  On Wednesday one town in Maine had nearly a 50° difference between the high and low temperatures:  30° was the low, and 78° was the high.  It's because the air is so dry right now.  That will end when the humidity starts to build.

The leaves popped out this week, the aspens being the first to show on Wednesday.  Now many trees have leaves.  Daffodils are in full bloom and the magnolias are starting.  I thin May should last at least 60 days.  ;D

I like that idea! I think we could get that passed in the halls of congress, don't you? They are passing worse things! Oh, wait! We could ask the president to do something he is so fond of doing: issue another executive order and make it so!   :)

We planted garden like crazy on Tuesday because we read the weather report. (potatoes, onions, garlic, peas, and lettuce).  Tuesday night we had thundershowers and Wednesday it snowed all day. We were thankful for the precip and hoping the drought pattern is changing.

Happy Sabbath all!  You know it's a good spring day when you can sleep at night with the windows open and wake up to a nice cool breeze through the windows. Like Wally we are finally starting to see the signs of leaves on the trees. The last few days have been sunny and in the 70s. It's been so nice. Now if only it wouldn't get hotter than the 70s  :)

That sounds nice, unless you are trying to grow tomatoes.  I found out when I live on the Olympic Peninsula, where it rarely got warmer than the 60's and 70's, that you need a good supply of 80's to grow tomatoes.  I had to give up on tomatoes and cucumbers.

And where I live, I had to give up on cantaloupes. It just does not get hot enough here.

Heaven will have a bounteous supply, so I'll wait.  :)

Winter has tried to sneak back in a few times since my last post.  Several nights here and there of freezing temperatures, including one hard freeze.  We've had to bring our potted plants in and found out that marigolds don't like those kind of temperatures.  (I mistakenly thought they could withstand those temps.)  Our lilac, which was just starting to get pretty didn't like it either.  The pansies are doing great though!  I knew I could count on them.

Usually by now, we have roses everywhere.  Not this year!  We had just started to see a few buds and then they froze.   :(  But, we will rejoice all the more when we finally get them!   :)
