John Thurber and "The King's Heralds"
« on: July 14, 2012, 08:36:18 AM »
It was through my academy principal, Wayne Thurber, that I learned of his brother John. And although we never met in person, we immediately became friends. I believe we can safely say musicians of their caliber are still within our circles. It is sad that they are not put forth as often as they should be. For us older ones, we can remember the days when musicians were ordained that ministry, like Elder Thurber and his fellow King's Heralds singers. Oftentimes we long for a return to those days when Godly men and women sang to the glory of God, and it appears we must search high and low to find them, else we may have to wait for heaven. In the meantime, we have been blest with technology, preserving some songs of yesterday on LPs, tape, audios and videos. Here are a few I found on You Tube when Elder Thurber (1961 to 1967), Wayne Hooper, et al, were members of that quartet. I do not place them here to glorify man but to show a marked difference in what was, verses what has now become common.

Thank you, Sybil. A simple melody in a hymn is surely a blessing to hear. Rather rare in some areas of the world.
Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.
