Harold Camping Exclusive: Family Radio Founder Retires; Doomsday 'Prophet' No Longer Able to Work
By Luiza Oleszczuk | Christian Post Contributor

Harold Camping, who predicted Oct. 21 to be the day Christians would be caught up to heaven and that God would judge the world, said on Oct. 16 that he is no longer able to lead Family Radio Stations, Inc. or his ministry, and his wife has confirmed that the 90-year-old radio evangelist has retired, a documentarian close to Camping told The Christian Post in an exclusive interview.

[In a photo not shown here] Harold Camping, president of Family Radio, fixes his mic as he prepares for a live radio broadcast on Monday, May 23, 2011. Camping delivered his first public statement on Monday since his failed prediction that the rapture would occur on May 21.

Camping also said in a private conversation that day that nobody could know exactly when the time of the apocalypse would come, according to his interlocutor. That statement constitutes a radical change in his teachings, as Camping used to claim that the date of the end of the world is encoded in the Bible, and that he had found the way to read it through studying it closely for many years.

As you wander through the related stores on Christian Post's website, there is a call from Family Radio's announcer for funds to keep the operating budget in the black.

Camping reportedly spent $100 million on advertising to advance his predictions. They are cash poor and property rich. Maybe it is time to begin selling the stations to a Bible-teaching ministry who will point people back to Scripture.

Hos 4:6  My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

I wonder how soon he will sell the property and give the money back to those he duped.

That has been my prayer.

A Bible Answer is reporting that Family Stations Inc. employees manning the phones know nothing of Camping's "retirement".  In a conversation as late as this morning Camping and Family Radio have not informed employees that he is gone.

Family Radio under the heavy hand of Harold Camping is not open in their dealing with the public or their employees. Harold has reached the end of his rope and has no credibility with anyone any longer. But, rather than make a statement through the radio station on October 22, he has been silent as has Family Radio. The Family Radio board is more guilty than Harold. They are part of the deceptions. They have control of what happens at Family Radio. Camping is only one man, they are responsible as a board.

Many have indeed been hurt, but the most damage has been the reproach brought upon Scripture and the truth that Jesus is coming very soon. Jesus knew there would come false prophets just prior to His second coming. They are counterfeits of the real.
Matthew
24:7   For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
24:8   All these [are] the beginning of sorrows.
24:9   Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
24:10   And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
24:11   And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
24:12   And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
24:13   But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
24:14   And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.

Retired from what? Can prophets retire? Is it a job one can apply for then leave at whim? Or retired from controlling Family Radio?

Family Radio has a lot of repenting to do for broadcasting falsehood. They sold out Jesus. They need to step aside and let people who understand scripture and who will stand up for truth be in charge of reaching the world. They have proved they cannot do the job.

I can't imagine God is terribly pleased with what has been going on at the station or in those people's lives. I pray they will get right with God and then do what is right.
