Please Pray for My Knee
« on: November 16, 2010, 07:21:41 AM »
Last March I tripped over an extension cord; fell with all my weight on my left knee. I used all the natural remedies I knew, compresses,  hot and cold, charcoal, elevation, rest, etc. and it seemed to heal. At least, it had bothered me very little since that time. Almost 3 weeks ago, I did a lot of laundry, going up and down basement stairs many times. I also did cleaning, and was on my feet all day, as was having company on Friday and over Sabbath. On Friday, I could hardly walk, and it has been that way ever since, as painful as it was when the accident happened in March. The pain is behind the knee, and though I did not believe an X-ray would show anything, my medical Dr. wanted me to have one. It came back normal. It is in the soft tissue, somewhere, and probably only an MRI scan will show it. I feel that I cannot stay off it completely, although I am doing that a lot, but it is more painful if I do anything for a long period of time. I need to walk, sit with it elevated, and lie down, alternating all three, for most comfort. Even then, it is still very painful with each step I take, and also hurts when not walking.

Please pray for my healing. I must be able to cook and keep the house going!!

Dora, one of the soft tissue injuries that can happen to the knee is a torn miniscus. As I understand it, the miniscus is the tissue lining of the knee joint. Sometimes it can tear and a little flap of tissue can get between the bones of the knee joint and can cause pain, especially when weight bearing. arthroscopic surgery is usually done to fix it. It would likely require an MRI to really see what the problem is.

Lord,

Please fix Dora's knee or set her up with MRI and surgery to fix it as You see fit.
Grateful for Psalms 32 and Titus 2:10 - The divinity of Christ is acknowledged in the unity of the children of God.  {11MR 266.2}

Amen! Dora, please know your bad knee is in my prayers. I also pray for your comfort and rest at night. Sleep is so curative to many of our ailments and something like this can rob us of it. May the Lord cover you with healing balm. Much love to you my dearest, sweetest sister!

Oh Dora, you are certainly in my prayers and in my thoughts right now. I wish I could offer some advice but I know nothing of knees! I am certainly praying for you though!

Sister Dora, we will be praying for you. Remember how well your injury responded to your natural remedies. Do them again. Begin with an ice pack and stay off the leg. It makes no difference that there is work to do. Stay off of it until it gets better. Use a crutch to keep your weight off of it. The injury responded to your remedies the first time, so we pray that it will again. The knee needs rest to heal. Hot and cold ought to speed the healing.

Good advice, Sister Dora. I am praying for you as well; for your knee and for housekeeping assistance. God moves in mysterious ways. Maybe this is what is needed for you to enter semi-retirement.  ;)  :-*

I had an injury from falling off a horse years ago. I couldn't put pressure on my elbow so it wasn't easy doing dishes - someone from church came over to help. It wasn't easy to sit and watch. But, you need it. Sit!

To all my lovely and loving TRO family: Forgive me please, for being so negligent in answering you. The computer has not been in as much use since Elizabeth has been on break from school. At night, she has been working on her other Granny an afghan, while I read aloud. She has just now gone to bed, so thought I would give an update here.

With her at home, I have had more help, and yes, have continued to use natural remedies. Also, I have been going to my chiropractor once a week. I wonder if I am having to go this much to him, so he will talk more about the Sabbath, as he is studying it. This is a real breakthrough for him to even study about Saturday/Sunday. My back is much better, and my leg is better, although I still have pain. It took almost 3 months before when I initially hurt it. The chiropractor believes that because my back was in a bad shape, (had neglected going to him once a month which I should) and I did all that work on the Thurs., running up and down stairs, etc. that it caused my knee to be affected, and behind the knee.

But, all of you are so kind, it is worth some pain to know that one is loved! Thank you all for your prayers and caring, please keep us in prayer.

It is so good to hear from you, dear Dora!  I am glad that you have Elizabeth to help you out.  What a blessing!  Will keep you and your chiropractor in my prayers.  Wouldn't that be wonderful if he came to know the truth about the Sabbath?   :)

Thank you, Sr. Dee for the encouragement. Yes! I have always known that my chiropractor is a real Christian. We have always talked about something spiritual when I went to him, and over the years, I have given him books/papers, but have never talked a lot of doctrine to him, just mostly tried to meet on the common ground we have in Jesus. but, knowing me, he does know much about the church. He said, "I want to know Truth," so I am praying he will recognize it. I am glad in some ways that I was not raised a SDA, because I can understand the reluctance of accepting something so different. Thank you for prayers for him, he is a godly man, and he is studying. Now, for him to allow the Holy Spirit to convict!

And, here is a powerful testimony that we all can learn from. If our Sister Dora is so blessed by a knowledge and expression of our love for her, then how about those who do not know Jesus? Will they not also respond to unselfish love? Yes, many will. And that is why God has given us the knowledge of health principles that we might "reveal" our love for them in helping them with what ails them and their family.

Thank you, Dora for sharing. We love you and continue to pray for your trials and your knee. You recognize that God is using your pain and suffering to reach out to others around you. And, now you have touched our hearts. Thank you for your love for us and Jesus. He is coming soon to take us home where there will be no suffering, no pain, no  more death, and no more tears. Soon!!

We continue to pray for your grand-daughter and are happy that she is able to help you and to spend time with you. God is working in your life and hears and answers your prayers.

Thank you, Brother Richard, for your caring. I do appreciate you and every one on TRO. Yes, there are many we can reach out to, in our community and in our church. When there are problems, no one (or very few) will reject prayer. The young man who used to rent our pasture called me about a month ago, asking for prayer. He had gotten a bad result back on his test on his thyroid, and the dr thought it might be cancer. Many in the community were praying for him, and when the second test came back, it was clear. We all rejoiced with him.
We thanked and praised God for His mercy and love.

After I had posted tonight about George, I was reading over the prayer requests, and the answers I have received. You were right, the natural remedies, and flax seed oil (Omega 3 fatty acids) surely cooperated with God in the healing. That knee does not give me any pain now. I do have some bad arthritis in my right hip, and lower back. When I am on my feet for long periods of time, I suffer a lot with it. But, I keep going, I have to, and like Paul, I know "God's grace is sufficient for me." Thank you all again for your prayers.
