Christian Modesty
« on: May 14, 2011, 10:44:04 PM »
In 1950 in many cities of the world, women would not think of  going downtown in a swimsuit. And, in the 1950s swimsuits for women covered much more of the body than today. Now, women's swim wear is often less than some women's under garments. Has this immodesty had an effect on Christian men and women? Yes, sadly, the world has come into most churches and there is seen little difference between the world and the church. A Christian woman would not appear in public in her underwear, but some have no problem in wearing a swimsuit that has less material.

What is Christian modesty? Is there Biblical counsel in this area?
Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.

Yes, there is and there are churches calling for reform:

PASTOR DR. ANNO Boahen, President of the South Central Ghana Conference, Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA), has condemned women that dress to expose their vital body parts known in local parlance as ‘apuskeleke.’

Describing the trend as alien to Ghana’s rich culture, he said dressing half naked was a great sin and warned women to dress decently to avoid incurring the wrath of God.

Pastor Dr. Boahen was preaching the sermon during the 30th Anniversary and Homecoming celebration of the SDA Church at Asawase in Kumasi. The occasion was used to raise funds in aid of the construction of a new church auditorium.

The man of God who wished to see the populace living morally upright lives, warned Christian women against following the world, urging them to dress in a manner that would give glory to God.

“I will urge you as Christians, especially the women among you to dress decently at all times, Stop dressing half naked and don’t expose your vital parts like breasts to the public because it is a sin in God’s sight.”
