Judgments in California
« on: June 28, 2008, 03:24:50 PM »
On Tuesday, June 17, California began marrying homosexuals after the California Supreme Court overturned the voter approved law banning homosexual marriages. The governor refuses to support a constitutional amendment banning homosexual marriage.

On Sabbath, June 21, fire fell from the sky on California. Over a thousand fires began to burn the state. To date, I am not aware that any life has been lost during this conflagration. God is merciful!  Judgments are not always brought forth by the hand of God, but many times He merely removes His hand of protection so that sin will punish sin. In this case, it is clear that God is speaking to California. He will soon speak to San Francisco in particular. Warning after warning has been rejected. The City of San Francisco is an evil city. She and Oakland are Sodom and Gomorrah. We pray that the message of warning reaches all who are not partakers of her iniquity.

San Francisco and California are an evil influence in the country and in the world. Natural disasters will continue to befall a nation that once was a shining light in a dark world.

I have no doubt that you are correct in this, but, for the most part this will be chalked up to natural causes (climate change, weather anomalies, etc.).  The causes may be "natural" but it is no coincidence that these unusual out of season, and even out of character, lightening storms materialized within a few days of the decision to do what no society has ever done:  legitimize and affirm aberrant relationships under the guise of "marriage."  There is no record that I know of that the Sodomites actually called their unholy alliances "marriage."
So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants:  we have done that which was our duty to do.  Luke 17:10

Wally, you bring up something that has always astounded me.

When Lot had the angels in his house, the Sodomites were beating down his door to get to these men. It was so bad he offered his daughters to these perverts. And the only reckoning on that act I can even begin to come up with was that he knew they would not want his daughters - they wanted the two men.

The accounts we have are such that they were to the point of being mad fiends with their desire for these two angels. It was beyond reason - it was purely driven depravity. This story always shocks me.

California has wildfires every year. What is different this year? The magnitude.

A thousand wildfires have turned the air of Northern California into an unhealthy stew of smoke and ash, forcing the cancellation of athletic events and other outdoor activities. "Health advisories urging residents to stay indoors to limit exposure to the smokey air were issued Saturday from Bakersfield north to Redding, a distance of nearly 450 miles. Some areas are experiencing the worst air quality on record, with the smoke hanging down to the ground like a fog.

President Bush today issued an emergency declaration for California and ordered federal agencies to assist in firefighting efforts. More than 17,000 firefighters, 1,500 fire engines and bulldozers, and more than 80 helicopters and aircraft are fighting more than 1,000 fires."

God has blessed in ways that many do not fully understand. The smoke is so bad because there has been very little wind. This has allowed the firefighters to gain control of many of the fires. If Satan were allowed to increase the wind to where it was a few weeks ago, California would be gone. A strong 40 mph north wind would incinerate the whole state. Satan would relish such disaster and then blame it on God. Mercy is still mingled with judgment.

How many will make the connection? Very few. Even some church members are filled with unbelief.

Sometimes words escape us when considering this entire event. It has been interesting to follow your commentary as a resident of that state. Sometimes I want to scream, "Get out!" but the saints are there for a reason. Witness during this time of trouble is critical to those who may listen.

America is watching California and the midwest floods. Judgments are certainly in the land.

The amazing thing is that God is so patient. San Francisco is still on the map and the winds did not fan the California fires, so many have been controlled.  The floods are bad, but Satan would have it rain in the Midwest today. God says this far and no further. The battle rages on. The Great Controversy is not finished yet.  Judgment is still mingled with mercy.

STATE OF CALIFORNIA  Fire Map  July 9, 2008

Look for the fires and you will be able to see where California is.

As I consider the fires, floods, and earthquakes, maybe they are shadows of what will befall the earth at the end?  Then, I realize we are at the end. These are not shadows of things to come, they are the reality of judgments falling upon the land of plenty. Having rejected God's blessings and His Bible truth, America is  no longer a Protestant nation. She is in the process of removing religious liberty and has at the same time prospered immorality.

The governor of California is working hard to extinguish over 1700 wildfires, but the men on the fire lines understand that they are at the mercy of "mother nature". Over and over they repeat this mantra. If the humidity drops, the temps climb, and the winds increase, we are in trouble. They know that God is in control. Many are praying now more than in the past. But, to which God?

If the fires were in check, we might be tempted to believe they were shadows of things to come, but they are not in check. To the contrary. God withdraws His hand of protection and the temperature soars to 112 in the shade, the humidity drops, and the winds pick up. Houses are incinerated. So far, mercy is mingled with judgment. Lives are spared. The Golden State is on fire and the immoral politicians continue devising evil.

San Francisco, Oakland, and Los Angeles are examples of what man becomes when He turns from God. In return, 1700 fires caused when fire falls from the heavens. Now, will God hold the winds in check? It appears that He is allowing the winds to blow. And when the winds are let go, then destruction will follow.

Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

How does the California fire map posted compare with fires in other states? Here is a map of the US with major fires burning today, July 9. Again, you can tell where California is by looking for the fires.

It is quite stunning. CNN is reporting from Paradise Ridge, saying 14,000 have been told to evacuate.

Some of the smoke from California has made its way into the mountains here. The mountains on the west, north and east side of town appear to have a "fog" against them.

I realize that these references are for the world in general but I thought that this was still a good place to put them.

Quote
"More and more, as the days go by, it is becoming apparent that God's
judgments are in the world. In fire and flood and earthquake He is
warning the inhabitants of this earth of His near approach. The time is
nearing when the great crisis in the history of the world will have
come, when every movement in the government of God will be watched with
intense interest and inexpressible apprehension. In quick succession the
judgments of God will follow one another--fire and flood and earthquake,
with war and bloodshed. " -- 9T.097.001

"Soon grievous troubles will arise among the nations.--trouble that
will not cease until Jesus comes. As never before, we need to press
together, serving him who has prepared his throne in the heavens, and
whose kingdom ruleth over all. God has not forsaken his people, and our
strength lies in not forsaking him. "
"The judgments of God are in the land. The wars and rumors of wars,
the destruction by fire and flood, say clearly that the time of trouble,
which is to increase until the end, is very near at hand. We have no
time to lose. The world is stirred with the spirit of war. The
prophecies of the eleventh of Daniel have almost reached their final
fulfilment." -- RH.1904-11-24

Gen 19:27 And Abraham got up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the LORD:
Gen 19:28 And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.

Yes, the smoke in California is indeed just so. Now with the new fire threatening Yosemite, maybe some will wonder why.

The California Governor has not mentioned God or prayer. He is a social liberal who believes in abortion and homosexual marriage. He will not support the upcoming ballot measure to amend the state constitution to forbid homosexual marriage. Will Yosemite have to burn?  God Himself destroyed Sodom by fire. Big Sur was spared. It would be very sad for Yosemite to be destroyed, but God may allow the winds to blow.  He knows best.  We may as well get it in our minds that this whole world will soon be cleansed by fire. Let us place our treasure in heaven.

In bringing forth Israel from Egypt, the Lord again manifested His power and His mercy. His wonderful works in their deliverance from bondage and His dealings with them in their travels through the wilderness were not for their benefit alone. These were to be as an object lesson to the surrounding nations. The Lord revealed Himself as a God above all human authority and greatness. The signs and wonders He wrought in behalf of His people showed His power over nature and over the greatest of those who worshiped nature. God went through the proud land of Egypt as He will go through the earth in the last days. With fire and tempest, earthquake and death, the great I AM redeemed His people. He took them out of the land of bondage. He led them through the "great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought." Deuteronomy 8:15. He brought them forth water out of "the rock of flint," and fed them with "the corn of heaven." Psalm 78:24. "For," said Moses, "the Lord's portion is His people; Jacob is the lot of His inheritance. He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; He led him about, He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of His eye. As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: so the Lord alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him." Deuteronomy 32:9-12. Thus He brought them unto Himself, that they might dwell as under the shadow of the Most High.

Christ was the leader of the children of Israel in their wilderness wanderings. Enshrouded in the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night, He led and guided them. He preserved them from the perils of the wilderness, He brought them into the land of promise, and in the sight of all the nations that acknowledged not God He established Israel as His own chosen possession, the Lord's vineyard.

To this people were committed the oracles of God. They were hedged about by the precepts of His law, the everlasting principles of truth, justice, and purity. Obedience to these principles was to be their protection, for it would save them from destroying themselves by sinful practices. And as the tower in the vineyard, God placed in the midst of the land His holy temple.

Christ was their instructor. As He had been with them in the wilderness, so He was still to be their teacher and guide. In the tabernacle and the temple His glory dwelt in the holy shekinah above the mercy seat. In their behalf He constantly manifested the riches of His love and patience.

God desired to make of His people Israel a praise and a glory. Every spiritual advantage was given them. God withheld from them nothing favorable to the formation of character that would make them representatives of Himself.

Their obedience to the law of God would make them marvels of prosperity before the nations of the world. He who could give them wisdom and skill in all cunning work would continue to be their teacher, and would ennoble and elevate them through obedience to His laws. If obedient, they would be preserved from the diseases that afflicted other nations, and would be blessed with vigor of intellect. The glory of God, His majesty and power, were to be revealed in all their prosperity. They were to be a kingdom of priests and princes. God furnished them with every facility for becoming the greatest nation on the earth.

In the most definite manner Christ through Moses had set before them God's purpose, and had made plain the terms of their prosperity. "Thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God," He said; "the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto Himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. . . . Know therefore that the Lord thy God, He is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love Him and keep His commandments to a thousand generations. . . . Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them. Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the Lord thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which He sware unto thy fathers; and He will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: He will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which He sware unto thy fathers to give thee. Thou shalt be blessed above all people. . . . And the Lord will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee." Deuteronomy 7:6, 9, 11-15.

If they would keep His commandments, God promised to give them the finest of the wheat, and bring them honey out of the rock. With long life would He satisfy them, and show them His salvation.

Through disobedience to God, Adam and Eve had lost Eden, and because of sin the whole earth was cursed. But if God's people followed His instruction, their land would be restored to fertility and beauty. God Himself gave them directions in regard to the culture of the soil, and they were to co-operate with Him in its restoration. Thus the whole land, under God's control, would become an object lesson of spiritual truth. As in obedience to His natural laws the earth should produce its treasures, so in obedience to His moral law the hearts of the people were to reflect the attributes of His character. Even the heathen would recognize the superiority of those who served and worshiped the living God.

It is a fearful thing to treat lightly the truth which has convinced our understanding and touched our hearts. We cannot with impunity reject the warnings which God in mercy sends us. A message was sent from heaven to the world in Noah's day, and the salvation of men depended upon the manner in which they treated that message. Because they rejected the warning, the Spirit of God was withdrawn from the sinful race, and they perished in the waters of the flood. In the time of Abraham, mercy ceased to plead with the guilty inhabitants of Sodom, and all but Lot with his wife and two daughters were consumed by the fire sent down from heaven. So in the days of Christ. The Son of God declared to the unbelieving Jews of that generation, 'Your house is left unto you desolate.' Looking down to the last days, the same infinite power declares, concerning those who 'received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved,' 'For this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: that they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.' As they reject the teachings of His Word, God withdraws His Spirit, and leaves them to the deceptions which they love."

Mercy still pleads with the inhabitants of California. The November election will an important deciding point as to what will happen in the entire state. San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles have filled their cups, but the people of the state still has opportunity to turn from the evil that many in leadership positions have brought upon their state.

Like those who scoffed at Noah's words, many today will do so regarding the judgments falling upon the land.

"As it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man." Luke 17:26.

I was shown that a terrible condition of things exists in our world. The angel of mercy is folding her wings, ready to depart. . . . The law of God is made void. We see and hear of confusion and perplexity, want and famine, earthquakes and floods; terrible outrages will be committed by men; passion, not reason, bears sway. The wrath of God is upon the inhabitants of the world, who are fast becoming as corrupt as were the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah. Already fire and flood are destroying thousands of lives and the property that has been selfishly accumulated by the oppression of the poor. The Lord is soon to cut short His work and put an end to sin. Oh, that the scenes which have come before me of the iniquities practiced in these last days, might make a deep impression on the minds of God's professing people.

As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be when the Son of man shall be revealed. The Lord is removing His restrictions from the earth, and soon there will be death and destruction, increasing crime, and cruel, evil working against the rich who have exalted themselves against the poor. Those who are without God's protection will find no safety in any place or position. Human agents are being trained and are using their inventive power to put in operation the most powerful machinery to wound and to kill. . . .

My brethren and sisters . . . , I make my appeal to you. . . . The lives of many are too delicate and dainty. . . . They think themselves Christians, but they do not know what practical Christian life signifies. What does it mean to be a Christian? It means to be Christlike. . . . Co-operate with God by working in harmony with Him. Expel from the soul-temple everything that assumes the form of an idol. Now is God's time, and His time is your time. Fight the good fight of faith, refusing to think or to talk unbelief. The world is to hear the last warning message.  Mar 137

Adding to the fires was an 5.4 earthquake in LA today. Some fear it may be the precursor to a bigger quake.
O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. O Lord, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing. Jeremiah  10:23-24
