Hi Scott, Welcome to The Remnant Online. Those trips to Mexico are good for the children. My son was 17 when he went. It was something I am sure he will never forget.
Welcome!

Yes, Sybil,
I know "Mr. Initials" very well.  He is a good brother and friend.  I told him about the board, and he wanted to register.  Yes, his knowledge of health and natural remedies has saved me from real illness a few times.

I'm not sure where to begin, but I will make a start.  I appreciate the opportunity to become a part of this forum, and I especially appreciate the phone call from Richard yesterday after I finally got properly registered.  We had a very pleasant conversation.  It's nice to connect a real voice to a name on a screen.  The possibilities for interaction and discussion presented by this forum are mind boggling when one considers that none of this was possible even 20 years ago.  May the spiritual blessings to all of us be multiplied by our participation in this unique form of communication.

Welcome back, Brother Ed!!  This is the beginning of the end. The great trials and tribulations our people are experiencing is preparing a people to receive Jesus at His second coming! Good to have you with us. The church is awakening from her long sleep. May God grant us grace to be faithful each day, that we might give honor and glory to Him who has given all for us. We look forward to your fellowship!

Welcome, dear Sister Teresa!  Sadly, you probably did right. But, you cannot rest now. It is no safer being in association with some "historical Adventists" than with fallen "new theology" Adventists. Your only safety is in still looking to Christ as revealed in the Bible. As you rely upon Jesus, He will use you to help others learn to lean on the arm of Christ, not the arm of flesh.

You will find a blessing here online. We have come to the same conclusion you have. We need to focus our attention on Christ in His Word. We need to get to know God. That is our only safety!  :)

If you wish to gain access to the private "SDA" forums, you will need to email us with some private information since these forums are restricted to Seventh-day Adventists.  You can contact us at adminstrator@remnant-online.com

Again, welcome!!

Brother LeeRay, welcome to our fellowship!  We hope that soon we shall have no reason to exist and we can concentrate on evangelism to the world. There is a need, so we are here to encourage and share with our brothers and sisters from around the world. We look forward to your fellowship. Share your concerns and your thoughts with our online family. As we press together, the Lord will bless our desire to rightly represent Him.

We have been blessed by the younger generation of your family and we look forward to getting to know you. :)

thank you very much to all.
i thought staying out was my decision. the more i see in the church, the more i wonder.

you didnt have to tell me, brother, (historic sdas).(smile)  it seems like im bumping heads with every group-or biting my tongue.  but, little by little, i beginning to think its a good thing. i have to be in constant prayer and soul searching. just this past sabbath i made myself very visible 3 or 4 times, with absolute confusion on some faces and 1 gentleman very angry with me-hes an angry, power hungry person tho. i also have to be in constant prayer of what to say, how to say it, when to say it.  oh yeah, i get to work on my demons also-as in casting them out. thats a good thing.

so, ive been praying and soul-searching where i might have been at fault.

you want an email of the church i attend and a personal phone number, mine or the pastor/church?
im not a baptized member and dont know when or if i will be.  i was born and raised sda. left. am back.
i dont know if i follow the 28 doctrines because i have disregarded it.

i believe in the investigative judgement with all my heart mind and soul as terrifying as it might be.
i believe egw is inspired of God, every word given to the church.
sorry, im getting carried away here.

i would like to post a topic on bible verses on unity and egw quotes of how they studied and prayed in the very beginning of our church. im finding it more and more beautiful, attractive, and needed, as time goes by.

Stay with it, Teresaq. These are difficult, yet very exciting times in which we live. Your situation, as bad as it is from time to time, is not that different from many others. But we know that God will have His church purified - there will be revival and reformation and the saints will be able to rejoice as never before! God bless you. Mimi

G'day there!! A good friend told me about this website so I decided to join and check it out. My Dad was a Seventh Day Adventist but my mother wasn't but I have been one for the past 30-40 odd years. ;D

I come from the good land of Milk and Honey down-under and am on a dairy farm helping to milk 100 cows which is a very small farm compared to other farms Downunder in New Zealand. The majority of farms now milk over 300 cows and more...

Well hope to get to know you all... :)

God bless!!
Yvonne.

Hmmm...it would seem I should have read the rules more carefully.

I need to have a "real-named" account...In future I may. I enjoy my anonymity.

It was nice reading this forum, I probably won't make another account because I don't wish to disclose my phone number.

God bless.

You may keep your anonymity when it comes to your account and what the rest of world can see. However, the webmaster asks for a personal email with your real name. If that still makes you uncomfortable why don't you the webmaster and talk it over.

I want to thank JimB, a friend and a classmate from school who helps here on this website and for telling me about this site!
I do alot of reading of the Bible and SOP, and instruct my family after our Lord's principles. My family and I can't wait till the Lord comes in the clouds of glory!!!
I am a part-time some say, but it is full time in my mind lay pastor. I preach here in the mountains of Colorado, and help out where ever the Lord calls. I have been to our schools for theology and health and wellness programs.
I too have been a part of the world in the past in gangs, drinking, drugs, violence, witchcraft, and hating God... sorry to say. But praise our Lord and Savior Jesus for his awesome redeeming power to save to the uttermost.  I am most happy to be part of God's great family, and very glad for this website and in these end days!

Yours brother in Christ,
Lewis

Hello, everyone!  I have finally decided to register and join in after lurking the forums for some time.

My dh and I just joined the SDA church a couple of months ago, after spending most of our married years in different denominations and non-denominations (is that even a word?).  Learning the truths that the SDA church teaches has been an exciting journey and we hope to pass them on to our family members.  Still, we see much that troubles us and wonder what Sister White would think if she were alive today.

A bit about us.  We are the parents of six, the older two are grown and moved out and the younger four are ages 8 and under.  Plus, we just became grandparents a month ago.  We have homeschooled all of our children.  Our life is definitely interesting!   :)

I'm looking forward to learning more from all of you.  I doubt that I'll have a lot to contribute, but you never know!   ;)

God has a people and they hear His voice and follow Him. Welcome into His fold. And, yes, the Holy Spirit has not left you without discernment. It is His church, but it is in need of reformation and revival.  We have private forums where some of what you see is being discussed.

A welcome from the beautiful, rolling hills of Ky, Diane!  Isn't it wonderful that from all these different states, God has made it possible that we can actually have an online "church family."

There is so much to read on this board, you will never get through it, but if you have been "lurking," you have already seen that.  But, please don't just read, come share your thoughts with us, too, as we study together, and fulfill Malachi3:16,17.

Brought to memory is that "man does not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." May the words we post help to feed those who are seeking life.

Hello, my name is Karina and I am new to the forums here.  My family and I live about 40 miles from Phoenix, AZ.  We are currently preparing to leave in January for Bolivia where we will be self-supporting missionaries with Gospel Ministry International in a small town where there is no Pastor for the handful of Adventists, and there is great need.

I have two young daughters, ages 6 and 21 months.  We are a homeschooling family.  We are currently studying all we can in preparation for our missionary assignment.  We see all around us how the church is changing, and how we are in a true Laodicean state.  I'm amazed at the different responses we get from people when we tell them we are entering the mission field.  Many are more concerned about what we're leaving behind... "what about your house and furniture?"  "What about your comfort...?"  How sad.

I'm so thrilled to have found this forum.  Many times we feel like we're fish out of water when we start talking about end times with others in church.  Few people feel the sense of urgency that we do.  Few people are trying to leave the city, very reluctant to go out of their comfort zones.

I look forward to learning from all of you and from sharing too!

Blessings,

Karina

Welcome Judy, Teresaq, Linderann and Karina. I pray that God blesses each of you in your walk with Him. Yes, our church is in a Laodecian condition. Let us look to Jesus for HE is our only hope to get us though these troubled times we are in. May we all continue to look to Jesus and grow in His grace.

Karina! What an incredible journey you are about to embark upon! Many young families are getting ready to do the very same thing! This is so exciting! We are thrilled to have you! God is leading His people. He will have a purified church!

The fields are white for harvest. God bless you and your family for heeding the call.

Welcome to The Remnant Online!

We are blessed that you have found us! We want to all we can to encourage and help you with your work. We have asked our members to  now make solicitations so that we do not encourage all to see that we live to raise funds. But, we want to know your needs and will share them with our members. Please use the private Evangelism Forum to share with us. We have created a "child board" that is private.

Sister Karina, it is a blessing to find so many such as yourself who seem to be swimming against the current in their churches. Know that there are indeed many in the church who are wide awake and are not in a Laodicean condition. We look forward to getting to know you and to learn of your work prior to your leaving. Will you have access to the internet in Bolivia?  If not, then we want to hear from you via snail mail.

My neighbor has a passel of goats he uses for pack animals, so they are not the friendly type. At least they don't like me as evidenced by their head-down position when charging my way.

Richard, thank you for the add! I'm excited to be a part of a community that is eagerly anticipating the soon coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I have been following the state of the economy lately and the trend definitely seems to point toward the New World Order fast becoming a reality. We have a global financial problem and it looks like they are going to try to fix it via global response. Whether that means doing away with the dollar, setting up a new world financial order, or both remains to be seen. But we do know that "the final movements will be rapid ones" (9T 11). I digress for now, but I look forward to sharing my findings and seeing what you have all uncovered. One thing is certain, in order to get off this planet alive, we must make Christ and His word our only safeguard.

God Bless,
John Erickson

John, we look forward to your participation! Welcome!  Yes, Jesus is coming soon! And the sooner a people are prepared the sooner He will come!!  The signs are all pointing in the right direction, prophecy is fulfilling in front of our eyes!!  Characters are being finalized where they will not change. Soon Jesus will throw down His censor and say "He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be."  Rev 22:11, 12.

As Brother said said, let us press together that we may hasten that day!

Again, welcome to our online family!

G'day there!
My name is Yvonne and I live in New Zealand. My nearest neighbor is an Aussie ;D.
There are only 3-4 million of us KIWI's ,(nickname for a New Zealander) in a country similar in size to the U.K or Japan. New Zealand was one of the last places to be  inhabited by humans, and it is one of the least polluted countries in the world--a clean,
beautiful land of rolling farmland, verdant forests and towering mountains. It is made up of TWO main Islands--the almost subtropical NORTH Island where most people live, and the long narrow SOUTH Island, with it's wide open Canterbury plains, and the soaring Southern Alps with their snowfields and glaciers.

In regards to religion, most New Zealanders are Protestants, but the Maori's have their own religion.
My Father was a  Seventh Day Adventist and  my Mother was a Baptist, so for a time as a child I ended up going to church on both Saturday and Sunday. Even though I loved the Baptist folk, at age 13, I made my decision and was baptized into the Seventh Day Adventist church where I have remained ever since...and without any regrets.
I am Looking forward to being a new member here and will be a pleasure to get to know you all  in 'Remnant Online.'
 God bless you all.

KiwiYvonne. :)

Again, welcome to our online family!  Good to get some information on New Zealand. I would like to visit someday. It is a beautiful country. I did not realize that the north part of the country was sub-tropical. That means you have mangoes and custard apples?   I miss them from Australia.

Good to have you with us!

Hey brother Richard and Sybil You both would love New Zealand!!..If you ever get the opportunity  to visit do so! Feel free to email me and there is always free accommodation. That offer also applies to  other highly respected members  present in 'Remnant Online.' :) Please be sure to pack your gumboots ..as we live on a dairy farm and milk 100 cows at present.
New Zealand is  famous for it's dairy produce. Millions of cattle are reared on it's lush green pasture. Farms are generally small, family run affairs but that is rapidly changing. I have recently been on a trip to IRELAND  and it reminds me so much of my home land Down-under. I have also been to SCOTLAND, (Edinburgh) and it is very similar in contrast to DUNEDIN down in our  South Island. In 1994, I won a Trip to EUROPE with a Competition run by the Mobil Service Station and saw 8 countries in 12 days!!
In my next 10-50  year plan I have high hopes  to visit USA...I love to travel... 8)

In regards to mangoes and custard apples..they are more readily grown in Australia. New Zealand's climate is mild and often damp overall, but varies from the hot and rainy subtropical north to the cold of the southern mountains.

Where abouts do some of you live? ??? I am interested and would love you to share a little about your hometown...thanks!

Hi, KiwiYvonne! Wow 100 cows!

We tend to protect our anonymity around here to a small degree, but I will tell you I live in the great Southwest region of the US. We have everything from vast deserts and high mountain peaks ... the Grand Canyon to swamp land. I live here because of the arid climate - not too hot, not too cold.

We have animals but not the kind you would want to snuggle up with: bears, mountain lions, coyotes and the worst of all ... gophers!  ;D

This is the dreaded gopher! They dig up everything! They have so many underground tunnels that walking through the field can cause you to step into one of their holes and break an ankle - to say nothing of completely eating up the roots in a vegetable garden.

I had rather deal with bears than these pesky gophers!  >:(

My cats do a great job in slaying them, but they reproduce so quickly (like rabbits) that the cats just can't keep up!  :D

Yes, we do try to remain elusive, so that we can make a quick exit before "Big Brother" catches up to us.   ;)  I live at the other corner of the country from Sybil; in the frozen wastelands of the northeast.  Hard to grow kiwis in this climate.  Lots of apples, blueberries, and maple syrup.  Very cold winters:  average Jan. temperatures are around -14C at night and around -2C during the day.  I like July better:  14C at night and 27C during the day.  It can be quite humid in the summer.  We have 5 seasons here:  Winter, Mud Season, Spring, Summer, and Autumn.  I understand Sybil's aversion to gophers--I used to live out west.  My kids thing they are cute, but we don't have them here.  We have too many deer, squirrels, and raccoons.  Porcupines can be a nuisance.  Bears are hard to find.  The big attraction is Moose.  I have no quarrel with them, except when they walk through my garden.  One tore out half of my electric fence one time--including the wooden posts!

Wally;

Hey, watch it my good friend, I'm not far past 50 and my beard came off two weeks ago.   ;D
I tend to forget I'm not 20 anymore accept when such as the other day when I finished splitting 5 cords of wood by hand.
Instead of coming to a new forum this seems like coming home and I think I should have been here long ago. Peace is good.
cp? Hmmm. A novel idea. I'm happy with that.  ;D

Sybil;
Thank's for your enthusiasm my friend !
I am looking forward to making some new friends here as well.

Thank you Tirza and Immanuel for the warm welcome.

Peace ... we need it and can have it.

:D :D Well, a page and 1/2 of welcomes to Colporteur. Just who is that man that he would merit  such a welcome mat?  ;)

You know ... while reading over some of these posts, time and again it has been said what a great place this is. I agree that it is. Some have labeled it "peaceful" while others have said it is "heavenly," like "home." And I suppose it is really is. It has been comfortable enough for me to land here for quite some time and to learn things I never knew and to meet like-minded saints holding onto the only Hand that can save us while encouraging each other through thick and thin.

Richard can be a taskmaster sometimes (only kidding, boss) but I am truly thankful for this little oasis in the whirlwind.  God bless The Remnant Online.

Welcome, dear brother!  Thank you for the kind words. As our Brother Wally has so eloquently stated, there is not much good in us, except that we invite Jesus in each day. If there be any good thing to rub off, it is
Christ, not us!  :)

As we study together, at times it may seem that we spend too much time on difficulties in the world and in the church. It is not our intention to spend most of our time in that area. We want to repeat the Words of Jesus which is much more than reproof. We are so blessed to know Him who gave all for us. Trials are with us and they will come, but in Christ we can rejoice that He loves us and gives us strength for all that comes our way.

Jesus is coming soon and the world is as it was at the time of the great flood. Whatever we can do to make your visits a blessing, let us know. We are here to serve you!

Again, welcome to our little online family!!

Hello,
My name is Sheri and this is my first post to say hello and introduce myself.  I am new to all of this and thirsty to learn all that I can.  I was raised in the Seventh Day Adventist Church but did not take in anything from the experience and instead rebelled.  To be honest, I don't think I believed any of the things I was told while growing up.  It all seemed to scary and supernatural.  I felt like I spent the majority of my life waiting for the world to end and when it never did; I learned to distrust all that I was supposed to have believed. Recently though, my Father, one who has for as long as I can remember, balked at the Church and their beliefs, came to me and told me that he was wrong.  Hearing him say that, seeing that he meaned what he said and listening to him tell me why was my wake up call.  Since then I've started reading and studying and I can't get enough.  I am far from perfect and I know that I am a sinner but I'm praying that Jesus will help me keep on keeping on.  I am definitely ready and certainly willing but feel so weak.  Please pray for me and for my family.  I'm ready to give my life to Jesus.  I hope my family will follow.  Anyway, that's my story.  I'm sorry to be so long winded  :-[ Thank you to my sister, Janeen, for telling me about you all  :)  .   I look forward to reading and learning from each and every one of you.
God Bless, Sheri

Sheri, God bless you! I was there once and know exactly what you are talking about. To have your dad come to you and confess he was wrong is nothing short of a miracle and an outworking of the Holy Spirit in his life, his love for you and your salvation. We are all sinners in need of a Savior. There is not one of us who is exempt.

We are thrilled to have you and your sister! Thank her for sending you to us. We are a little group of Bible students learning more and more each day. Join in where you wish to and know that we will begin praying for you, dear sister.

Sybil thank you for the warm welcome.  Yes, my sister has really stepped in for me.  I was anxious to get a new Bible, one that I would understand and equally anxious for anything else I could get my hands on  ???.  My sister was there for me.  Just yesterday she filled my arms up with faith based DVD movies, music and literature.  I never felt we were close but now I've never felt closer to her.  She's been a blessing to me to say the least and I am so thankful for her and my Father.  I know my Father knows but I hope my sister knows  :'( Thank you again.  I've never posted to any forum where I felt welcome so this means more than I could express.

Blessings,
Sheri

You are welcome, dear one. We have a group of people who have been Seventh-day Adventist Christians all of their lives, and then there are those like us who were out of the church for eons and came back (Praise the Lord for that!) and we have new Christians. So, we are all in this together. Those strong in the faith on this forum, and there many, help us newbies.

You will find a wealth of information on this forum. Spend some time in the Bread of Life board - it is dedicated to Bible studies on various topics. Here is the link  http://remnant-online.com/smf/index.php?board=6.0  And as I pointed out a book to someone else this week, grab a copy of The Desire of Ages and your Bible and read about the life of Jesus. it will blow you away and confirm in your sweet heart why all of this is happening in your life at this time in earth's history. Jesus is coming back ... and yes, He has tarried and we have been hearing that He is coming back for a long time, yet He has been waiting on us to reflect His character in our lives and in His church. His lost sheep are returning because they hear His voice. The signs of the times are all around us and we can know without any doubt that His return is "even at the door."

I look forward to studying with you! Blessings, dear sister!

Welcome, welcome, dear Sheri,
Many of us on here have been in the church, left it and have come back, more solid than we ever were before!  I am one of them.  My oldest son's story is much like yours, too.  I believe we will be seeing even more people coming back to Jesus and the truths they have known, and more who are eager for us to share those truths with them.  It is our privilege to share together and encourage each other as we walk together and with our Lord on a daily basis.

Welcome Sisters Lucia and Sheri!  Good to see your posts here in the Welcome Forum. It gives our members a chance to know you are online and reading through the various forums.

We look forward to getting to know you both better. And, thank you, dear Sheri for sharing your experience! God loves you and bless your father for his love and care for you. And your sister! Too often, we find that many in the church have not seen Jesus and developed a relationship. While sin hurts us, others, and Jesus, we cannot help but sin if we are not connected to Christ. Over and over again, in these forums you will read that our "religion" is to begin and end with God's grace. It is His love for us while we were yet sinners that brought us to conversion and it is grace that keeps us in that state of life. The rest will come as we learn of His ways.

May God bless our fellowship and may we hasten His soon coming!!

Again, welcome to you both!!

Greetings!

I am very glad to have found this forum, as it seems that the Church is under attack from within the body, and it is important that we draw together in her defense.

I am preaching tomorrow on "the Remnant Church." Sadly, many Adventists have been deceived into believing that this is an arrogant and elitist view of the Church, rather than a call to mission.

Here in The Rocky Mountain Conference, we have a church plant that identifies itself as part of "Kingdom Adventism." I only learned this yesterday, 3/26/2009. As I reviewed the website last night and listened to two sermons posted, I trembled for our people, as we have unknowingly embraced deception that will lead to the downfall of the Church if not refuted.

Example: I heard that Satan, desperate to forestall the commitment and energy of our Church founders, worked hard to bring into that group our beliefs about the Investigative Judgment, in order to prevent them from understanding the full gospel message. Only one small example, much more, just as bad or worse!

Pray for us as we meet for Constituency this year in June. The decisions we make as delegates will set the direction the Church in Rocky Mountain will take in the future.

When I have time, I will search this forum for posts on "Kingdom Adventism." I hope someone here has experience that will be of help.

God bless,

<>< Ben

Welcome, Ben! Bless you. Your experience is not unlike others. Do look around. We have multitudes of subjects dealing with problems within the church, how Satan is increasingly on the attack - you will find those in the private SDA boards with the "SDA" designation after them. As members of His church, we can openly discuss those things there.

We are very pleased you found us. We hope you find your experience here a blessing.

Hello, I am a SDA, when I was a young girl, my mom let me go to any church that would drive out and get me. She wanted me to be a "good girl". Backfired a bit, but that's another story. lol. Anyway, I enjoyed Assembly of God churches the most, they had great puppet shows about Jesus, we sang fun songs and they bribed me with candy to learn verses. I also attended Nazarene, many community churches, baptist, and non-denominational. I learned that God was up there and that I could talk to him, and that he didn't answer my prayers to get a new bike or let my friend come out to play. I got older and into much trouble, then pregnant and married young. My marriage was really bad, I prayed for months everyday to God, to help me fix my marriage. I begged, screamed, cried at God. One day, it seemed he got tired of hearing me carrying on and ZAP, changed my life forever. I was born again, many changes happened for me overnight. I trusted him to lead me into a church as I didn't feel smart enough to know where to go. He lead me to a sda gal, I didn't even know what sda was, never heard of one. We watched a Kenneth Cox video everyday. I swore I would not go back after many of the videos, the freaks! But I would open my bible and there it was. With a lot of prayer I watched the whole series. been Adventist for 17 yrs now I think. Would love to say, in all that time I am now a mature Christian and have a good understanding of the christian faith and Adventist doctrine.

But I can't. A lot is over my head, I have just recently found out online how sick we are as a church. I new we had problems, but I had no idea. I been to busy trying to figure out why I am so confused, why am I not more fruitful, why this statement offends me;

"The matter of salvation is just as simple as ABC. But we don't understand it." Faith and Works, p.64.

I am a high school drop out, but that shouldn't matter! These are spiritual things and I have a big God. Been a little mad at Him for my confusion of basic Christian fundamentals. Recently though a sda asked me to read about the Protestant Reformation. I loved what I have read so far and am looking for encouragement in working that out, and understanding it more. I recently read Mere Christianity, I now love CS Lewis. He makes me laugh, smile, think and he just puts me in awe.

I have struggled for so long trying to understand how to walk the walk. I have asked myself where the power of God is many times, I have gone from legalism to liberalism, and think I'm somewhat balanced now. I brought two people into the Adventist church, I think they would have been better off if I left them in there non-denominational churches. It seems like I helped make them legalistic, not bring them closer to Christ.

I want to have more fruit in my life, love, not so self centered and stuck. I think the Lord is opening my understanding up more now, and I hope I can help others like myself who keep the pews warm, but wonder why they cant get it.

Though, I am immature, He has not let me go, I do love God and I have a relationship with him. He has helped me get through a lot and I depend on Him. He is a good listener and I cry on his shoulders all the time. But I sure would like to grow up and think about others for a change. lol.

I go by talitha here, I recently learned that my real name means the bible name talitha, I like it. It means Resurrection. Cool huh!

Talitha, I understand where you are coming from. I joined the church 54 years ago, but it took me 30 years to get out of the legalistic outlook I had, and to give everything to Jesus and then....to be able to allow Him to daily live out His life in me.  During that time, I left the church in discouragement, because I could not do the things I knew I should be doing, because I did not truly know Jesus.

Reading your post reminds me of a young man I am working with now.  His story is so similar to yours.  But, dear Talitha, I am so glad you came to this board, so glad you are asking, just as he is.  We may not have 30 years now to get with Jesus, it sure does not seem like it.  Today is the day of salvation!  Study with us, study alone, find another SDA to study with, and pray!  Ask God to give you the Holy Spirit in your life, to guide you into all truth, to comfort you, to encourage you, to be your helper, and to lead you closer to Jesus every day.  Ask questions here, there are many who are eager to share with you.  No, we don't know all the answers, but we will look for them with you as we study together.

I love your introduction. This is a great forum to learn from, I rarely post , but I read a lot. I have been an Adventist all my life. I went to Church every week and I love the Church. One day I decided to read Desire of the Ages, and wow!! My whole world change...I felt in love with Jesus. It give me the backbone for all the principles/doctrines I believe in.  God is good!

Hi Gracelyn and welcome to TRO. To access the private forums, you will need to complete the registration. The following quote from the forum administrator gives the instructions of how to do that.

Many have inquired as to why they cannot read and post in the (SDA) private forums. It is because the registration process was not completed. In reading the membership agreement you will find that these forums are restricted to Seventh-day Adventists. Registration requires an e-mail to webmaster@remnant-online.com with the members current church affiliation and a personal phone number to confirm the registration. When this is done then the registration will be complete and full access to the private forums will be assigned.

Hi everyone, I'm new here! Thanks for having me.

I am new to Christianity and have been led to the Adventist Church. It all started with my conviction to keep the Sabbath holy, it seemed important, so I found the SDA's. When I first applied for registration here, I was burning with the question, "Why is it so important to me to keep the Sabbath? And why does it bother me so much when I talk to people who don't?"  I get so concerned. So I wanted to talk to other SDA Sabbath-keepers to get some feedback, support. But the Holy Spirit has resolved it for me already. So I'm here now, without my question, but certainly a keen excitement for learning and fellowship here.

Again, welcome Donna! God is GOOD! He wants to teach us personally! And in you He has found a good student who seeks to do His will. We look forward to your fellowship!

Here is something that blessed me regarding the Sabbath:

Great blessings are enfolded in the observance of the Sabbath, and God desires that the Sabbath day shall be to us a day of joy. There was joy at the institution of the Sabbath. God looked with satisfaction upon the work of His hands. All things that He had made He pronounced "very good." Genesis 1:31. Heaven and earth were filled with rejoicing. "The morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy." Job 38:7. Though sin has entered the world to mar His perfect work, God still gives to us the Sabbath as a witness that One omnipotent, infinite in goodness and mercy, created all things. Our heavenly Father desires through the observance of the Sabbath to preserve among men a knowledge of Himself. He desires that the Sabbath shall direct our minds to Him as the true and living God, and that through knowing Him we may have life and peace.

When the Lord delivered His people Israel from Egypt and committed to them His law, He taught them that by the observance of the Sabbath they were to be distinguished from idolaters. It was this that made the distinction between those who acknowledge the sovereignty of God and those who refuse to accept Him as their Creator and King. "It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever," the Lord said. "Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant." Exodus 31:17,

As the Sabbath was the sign that distinguished Israel when they came out of Egypt to enter the earthly Canaan, so it is the sign that now distinguishes God's people as they come out from the world to enter the heavenly rest. The Sabbath is a sign of the relationship existing between God and His people, a sign that they honor His law. It distinguishes between His loyal subjects and transgressors.

From the pillar of cloud Christ declared concerning the Sabbath: "Verily My Sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you." Exodus 31:13. The Sabbath given to the world as the sign of God as the Creator is also the sign of Him as the Sanctifier. The power that created all things is the power that re-creates the soul in His own likeness. To those who keep holy the Sabbath day it is the sign of sanctification. True sanctification is harmony with God, oneness with Him in character. It is received through obedience to those principles that are the transcript of His character. And the Sabbath is the sign of obedience. He who from the heart obeys the fourth commandment will obey the whole law. He is sanctified through obedience.

To us as to Israel the Sabbath is given "for a perpetual covenant." To those who reverence His holy day the Sabbath is a sign that God recognizes them as His chosen people. It is a pledge that He will fulfill to them His covenant. Every soul who accepts the sign of God's government places himself under the divine, everlasting covenant. He fastens himself to the golden chain of obedience, every link of which is a promise.

Yes, welcome dear Sister Kathleen!!

Now is it really true that once a Texan always a Texan? Ya'll don't often drawl in print!! :)

It is times like these when I wish we could have an audio feed.

BTW, there is a lot to read. I doubt that you will make it through all of the posts before Jesus comes!! We have a search engine that will help you find subjects of interest. If you want to begin a new topic in some of the forums, do a quick search and you may find that the topic is already online. The most doctrinal forum is the Bread of Life Forum. The moderators have started the topics there and most of them are "present truth".  The Social Hall is a catch all forum. Laodicea discusses difficulties in the church. The Worship Forum is good on doctrinal matters also, music, women's ordination, etc. The Signs Forum is our news forum that reveals the fulfillment of prophecies that show the soon coming of Jesus. Well.... I guess I got carried away, I was going to give a rundown of  few, but could not stop myself. Each forum is here because we see the need for it. They all are very good. We keep the Prayer and Testimony Forums at the top because we view them as so very important. See there I go again!!  :)

The summary page lists each forum with a brief description of its purpose. Please jump in and share with us how Jesus is leading in your life, dear sister! We look forward to getting to know you.

LOL No, I'm not a southerner by birth.  I live in NC and have picked up some of the local language.  I am orginally from New Brunswick, Canada.  I have been in the States for more than 30 years.

What part of New Brunswick?  I spent some time there back in the early 80's.  Perth-Andover, to be exact.  I like the province, but winter was brutal.  Spring came late.  I especially liked Kouchibouguac Nat. Pk., and I even climbed Mt. Carleton once.  My kids really liked King's Landing, especially when they were younger.  We still slip across the border whenever we can.  It's only a few hours drive from where we live in Maine.

Did you ever attend the Maritime Conf. campmeeting in Pugwash, NS?  We've only been once, but we really enjoyed it.

Nope, but we could if we wanted to!  :D

I moved my household, very young daughter in tow, to another state. She lost the drawl but I didn't. It is something most "tolerate" when in my company.

Well, Kathleen - do your best while in the presence of those southerners. Most have very warm hearts!

Both of ya'll have me perplexed. I lived in both North Carolina and South Carolina. Now, I know that South Carolina is part of the "south" but North Carolina? Its up north!!

Yes, I know that it was part of the Rebel states, but I do not remember them speaking like those in Texas and South Carolina. Maybe it is because I was age 6 when I moved. :)  I made trips back to South Carolina and I can still hear those young ladies with their southern drawl. Do ya'll really speak that way in North Carolina?

The soft southern drawl is more around Charleston.  It's sort of nasal here.  It must be the mountain air. LOL

My brother-in-law is from North Carolina (born and raised there), and he definitely has that southern accent.  Maybe not as pronounced as in Texas, and definitely not like Tennessee, but it's there nevertheless.

Since we are talking about accents, I did not realize that those from the upper Great Lakes area had accents. Those who are born and raised in the Colorado area can tell those who are from either Michigan or Wisconsin by their accent. I have run across this where I live.

Interesting and new things to learn.

I think you probably hit the nail on the head.   ;D

Large is one way to put it.  It's about the size of France.  And it was a very long drive from the Arkansas border to the New Mexico border.

LOL Fiddleheads have a unique taste for sure.  But they taste better than most greens to me.   Those were eastern fiddleheads though.  I had some fiddleheads from Oregon a few years ago.  They are bigger than eastern ones.   They don't taste the same at all.  I didn't like the Oregon fiddleheads.

I used to get them in the spring by the garbage bag full, put them in the dryer on cold air, they would whip around and take all the brown ferns off.  Then wash and bag them for the freezer.  Fiddleheads all year long.  YUM,YUM.

I'm not sure what you were eating in Oregon, but Ostrich Fern, which is the species from which fiddleheads are obtained in the northeast, does not grow in Oregon.  Some  species are not edible, and there is some indication that one should not overdo it even with the regular fiddleheads.  I can't remember the details.  Bon appetit!  ;D

The store in NC where I bought them said they were grown in Oregon.  I have heard them called ferns but not ostrich fern.  I know when I pick them, which ones are not edible and which ones are.  They might have been from j a PAN for all I know.  LOL

Fiddleheads?

Fiddleheads are ferns (that resemble the head of a violin) that grow along streams and rivers.  In the spring; when the water level goes down from the shores, up pops the fiddleheads.   There are two kinds that come up, the ones you can eat and the non-edible ones.  If you pick them for the first time makes sure someone is with you that knows the difference.  I love fiddleheads.

Welcome dear sister!

It may seem like a "single hook" at times, but you are planting seed every day as you witness for Him who gave all for you! The harvest field is white and as you labor for the Master, His Word will not return void!  :) Others will come along and do the harvest that you began. And, at times you will receive the joy of doing the same.

We look forward to you encouraging us with your testimonies of how God is working in your life. As we press together, God will bless our fellowship!

Welcome, fellow homeschooler.  We (actually my wife) homeschooled both of our kids, and we must have done something right because my son is taking a college algebra class (he's still technically in high school) and doing well.  In retrospect I wouldn't have wanted to do it any other way.  A lot of pitfalls are avoided by homeschooling (negative peer pressure; picking up the bad habits of 20 other kids by osmosis); and the fexible schedule is an added bonus.

3 sons?  My mother had to suffer through 3 boys also.  We were brats.  I suspect it will be better for you because of the homeschooling.

Thanks for the invitation and opportunity to post here and get to know some of my brothers and sisters in Christ. I am an E-Sword user and  also reference the published writings of Ellen G. White prolifically as needed, so theological discussions for mine and others edification is one of my highest joys and works.I also believe in the power of personal testimony as to what Jesus Christ has done and is doing for me.

I believe the signs of the times show we are near the end and we have no time to waste on trivialities, the time is long past to make Christ first and foremost in the life. I am nearing the end of two years in college with a masters degree in substance abuse counseling in view.

I attend a secular college at present, but would love to be in seminary studying theology, but I have not seen that the Lord has made that path plain as of yet. However, I have had a few opportunities to present the Bible and Christ at my school, the last and most recent of which was a PowerPoint presentation in Philosophy 210, World Religions class that I did on prophecy that included the dark day of the sun, the moon turned to blood, (1780) and the stars fell from heaven in 1833. I also downloaded and printed a 7-page Amazing Facts Bible study lesson which was handed out to all members of the class.

What a high privilege the Lord granted me to be able to do that in a secular school!

Friends today sent me this link to help the Haiti earthquake victims financially, for those who cannot make the trip over there.I have met the young man in the video, Brandon, who is one of the leaders of the Battlefield Hollywood Adventist Ministry. They (relief agency) operate under the auspices of GYC. Thanks, and God Bless! Steve

Welcome, dear brother!  We are here to help you. The Hebrew Sanctuary is a most beautiful study of the plan of salvation. It is a simple, yet very deep revelation of Christ and His great love for us while we were yet sinners. The Christian religion and Judaism as Christ meant it to be are the same religion. There are things such as the ceremonial law that have passed away and there is no theocracy any longer, but the foundation of the Christian faith rests upon the Old Testament Scripture. We welcome not only your questions, but if you have insight into the meaning of some of the ceremonies in the sanctuary service, we would like to hear it. The plan of salvation as given in the New Testament is shadowed forth in the services. Jesus is indeed the "Lamb of God" which taketh away the sin of the world. It is amazing that John the Baptist who spoke those Words, did not understand that the Lamb had to die. It is a warning to Christians today that they may be in as deep a deception about their faith. To not understand that the Lamb was born to die shows a great lack of understanding of the gospel message. Jesus helped John as He seeks to help us today.

Here is a link to the Sanctuary (http://remnant-online.com/smf/index.php?topic=754.0) topic. We began it ten years ago. Forgive us if we skim over some things. Many Seventh-day Adventists have studied the subject, so some things may be taken for granted. As you read through it and questions come up, let us know and we will try and answer them. Of course there will indeed be questions we cannot answer, but we will surely try. We are all still learning!

Again, welcome, Brother John! We look forward to your fellowship.

Hello All!  I'm a home schooling mom of four children living in Central Kentucky.  I became a SDA almost 15 years ago through a Revelation seminar.  Although my husband Tim did not join me in the faith, he has been very accomodating and actually supportive in many ways.  I have been able to teach my children about the Bible and Adventist doctrines, I take them to church every Sabbath, they are vegetarian, and the times that my children were in school, Tim made sure they were in our church school, even though it is in the next town, instead of the public school just a few blocks away.  My husband and I both grew up in the city but we are looking to make a move to the country.  God has been so good.

At the beginning of the year I started the Conflict of the Ages Read-a-thon, reading one chapter a day (I should be finished with all 5 books by November).  It has been a tremendous blessing.  Also, I am studying Daniel and Revelation verse by verse.  I'm particularly interested in the last verses of Daniel 11.  I was inspired to really dig into these books after attending a series of meetings by Dane Griffin at camp meeting last year.

I enjoy walking outdoors, vegetarian cooking, and playing the guitar and piano.  Besides Bible study, I am an avid reader and love to read Spirit of Prophecy, pioneer writings, reformation history, etc.  I like to download sermons from www.audioverse.org (http://www.audioverse.org) and listen while I walk or work around the house.  I was blessed to have gone to Generation of Youth for Christ in December/January with my two oldest children.  It's amazing what God is doing through this movement!

I look forward to getting to know all of you.  God bless.  Beth

Welcome, Beth.  We (well, my wife, that is) home schooled our 2 kids also, and do not regret it.  Any alleged disadvantages associated with homeschooling are more than compensated for by the advantages.

You will enjoy the Conflict of the Ages series.  I've read them all several times.  I'm currently reading Desire of Ages.  Can't say which one is my favorite, but I particularly like GC, both for the historical perspective, and for the prophetic element.

I hope you will be blessed by your participation in this forum.

Hi Beth.

Welcome! The Lord has blessed you with a wonderful family. Pictures are appreciated, at least by me. I too came in through a prophecy seminar 29 years ago by Lyle Albrecht, who is still preaching the 3 angels messages.

Audioverse is a great resource and I do listen myself. GYC is the future of Adventist evangelism and its so encouraging to see those youth standing on traditional Adventist pillars of faith, while not succumbing to worldly liberalistic, influences.

I hope you enjoy your presence here on The Remnant Online as we look forward to the sharing of your faith and experience.

I too am participating in the Readathon, and I count Sandra as one of my closest online friends, as I have not yet met her in person.
We also have discussions on every chapter of our readings if you care to contribute.

The study of Daniel and Revelation are of critical focus now as we know. I am again reviewing Revelation 13, with Daniel 7, in conjunction with Uriah Smith's book, "Daniel and the Revelation" the SDA Commentary, along with EGW comments.

God Bless! Steve

Hi, brothers and sisters in Christ, Jesus!  I am so happy to read of your conversion experiences into this marvellous truth.  I was baptized in 1972 in Detroit, MI, and now live in Western KY, attending the same church as Dorothy (Dora).  My heart aches when I see our people ... those entrusted with the end-time message of salvation ... content to be "asleep," but I rejoice to know that soon and very soon Jesus will "stand up" (Daniel 11:40-45) and we know the closing events will be rapid and then King Jesus will come to take His children home.  I have family and friends who are still in the world and pray for them to respond to Holy Spirit's pleading while Jesus may still be found.  I am 62 years old, widowed since Aug. '04.  My only son died Jan. 10, '09 (age 40), and I'm just now actually feeling the pain of his loss.  My only daughter lives in Montana with her 5 children ... far away from me.  My eldest granddaughter lives in NM with her two little ones, far away from me.  My only living sister lives in MI, and two elder brothers & their families live in CA, so I have no family here in KY.  If it wasn't for my church family I would truly be alone.  The Bible's promises are very precious to me; like when Jesus says "I will never leave you nor forsake you."  My life experience has proven this true beyond all human understanding.  I love to uncover new "jewels" in God's Word, listen to CDs (Daniel 11), watch DVDs of Prof. Walter Veith and Stephen Bohr, and read Spirit of Prophecy books.  For morning worship, I'm going "Though the Bible with H.M.S. Richards" and that is proving a real blessing.  I swim & do Water Aerobics at the local YMCA and sing hymns in the hot-tub.  I love to sing praises to Jesus, my Creator and Savior ... both at church and nursing facilities; but hot-tubs and showers I can't resist.   ;)

Welcome Sisters Beth and Gloria!!

Beth, you have a lovely family. You must be very busy!! We look forward to your fellowship!

Gloria, you now have a broader extension of your local church family!!  It is our joy to find our brothers and sisters from around the world. There are some here who have no local church family that walks in the light, to the contrary, they have to stand alone in their churches. Well...not alone, Jesus is right there with them. Your testimony and sharing will be a great blessing to all of us, but especially the ones who  come here for the only fellowship they can find.

Again, welcome to both of you! Let us do all we can to hasten the soon coming of Jesus!

I am going through Daniel 11 right now in a book called "Unfolding Daniel's Prophecies by Roy Allan Anderson. I am up to verse 20 now and it is at the time of Jesus Birth. Of course one has to go through history to know that. This is what the book helps with. It is totally amazing how detailed and to the point the Bible prophecies are. I take it really slow with the Bible and the book and do a lot of typing. (It helps me remember it better)

Stephen Bohr is so good! There are many others too. We are so blessed as a Church!!  We go to the Y too and are blessed so much with that. What a help on the cranky bones and muscles, tendons, and so on. My daughter and I just started a week ago and I'm feeling some better already. :)  We sing together before studying the lesson each day too. So I know what you mean. I think we all do. We love to Praise our wonderful Saviour. :)

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I've been reading through the Hebrew Sanctuary posts and had not returned to this one until now. My apologies for not replying sooner.

I'm finding a few of the essential SDA teachings difficult to support biblically -- especially those concerning the Sanctuary related teachings -- but I'm still trying to follow the example of the Bereans, receiving them readily and then studying to see if they are biblically supported (Acts 17:11). I'm refraining from posting here much as I do not wish to appear like a negative influence: I understand and respect that this forum is primarily for those who already hold Adventist beliefs.

A bit more about me just to explain where I'm coming from with my ongoing sojourn: In 1969 I gave my life and heart to God at the alter of a Missionary Baptist church in North Georgia (U.S.A.). Since that evening my life has been devoted to better knowing and serving God. Not wanting to be overly biased by my upbringing, to this end, I have studied most of the world's religions "from the inside out" so as to understand them as much as possible from the perspective of the Believer (rather than just intellectually). I hold a couple of Christian ordinations (Baptist and Cavalry Chapel), an Interfaith ordaination and various comparable achievements in other religions. My quest continues.

I have now concluded to my satisfaction that the Bible is the most authoritative religious scripture on Earth, that the God of the Bible established a covenant with all people (through Noah) and later chose the Jews as His Elect and specially Chosen ambassadors -- as the "apples of His eye." That He established an eternal and unbreakable covenant with the Jewish people, through whom He will, within the generation of 1947 (or perhaps 1968) complete all the prophecies and establish His Kingdom on earth ("as it is in Heaven"). I am further convinced that Y'shua (Jesus) will return to Earth physically as he promised, take his seat on the Throne of David, fulfill the Messianic prophecies, and establish this Theocratic Kingdom: else why are we to pray: Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done, on EARTH as it is in Heaven"?

I've pretty much always known (and taught) Shabbat, the Sabbath, is the only biblical day of worship and so this makes me favorably disposed toward the SDA denomination (as well as the older Seventh Day Baptist denomination -- who do not have any congregations in the area where I now live). That to me is obvious from Genesis 2:3 onward.

I've looked into the SDA in the past (especially while living on Maui and in Berkeley in the 80's). There is a great deal (including Sabbath observance and the rejection of the Pagan-based Hell teaching) that I agree with here. Frankly however the SDA Sanctuary teachings have seemed so unbiblical to me on the surface that I did not do the thorough study they require if I am to understand them properly. I am now seeking to remedy this. I especially have issues with the SDA understandings of "the Daily" the two desecrations, the interpretation of the thousand two hundred and threescore days prophecy and the teaching that Daniel 9:27 is not referring to a final seven year tribulation period that will occur as the "Times of the Gentiles" draws to a close which to me is very clear. These are the main points I am seeking to understand about Adventist doctrine. So I am now seeking to understand these foundational SDA teachings as understood in the Hebrew Sanctuary (as suggested by Richard). Perhaps that will shed light on these things.

Thanks for reading this. I invite everyone's thoughts and suggestions, either through this site or via e-mail.

Like Beth, I certainly look forward to studying more with you on this..and yes, I like much that Stephen Bohr has on it. His sermon, "Reflections on Daniel 11" was most helpful.

It is a blessing to find those in our faith that are united in Spirit and coming into unity of doctrine. I look forward to your thinking on Daniel 11. Greetings Brother Robert,
I too enjoy Stephen Bohr's talks on Daniel 11. He is a great speaker and knowing so much on scriptures. I feel we are living in a time when God is shedding more and more light on His people. But the only ones learning are those who thirst after righteousness. There is much He wants to teach us that we may never have heard before. It seems He leads us on giving us more and more understanding as we are ready for it. His unfolding will indeed be things so needed for us to know. Things that I feel will give us much hope as we advance closer and closer to His Coming.

We do welcome you. :)
Sr. Marie

Welcome, dear sister!  We long for Christian fellowship where we can be wrong and still be loved. This is why we are here. Don't be shy. Find a topic that interests you and do indeed "jump in".  We don't bite.  There is no inappropriate question. :)    We only ask for Christian courtesy and that our members refrain from "teaching" that which is contrary to Scripture. Glad you found us!

Who is the arbiter of what is contrary to Scripture Richard? For example, I have been posting what power I believe the King of the North to be, and others are teaching differently; so some member is teaching contrary to Scripture. How can we rectify this?

That is a very good question, dear brother.  When we talk about not teaching contrary to Scripture, we are not being narrow. We understand there are areas that are not resolved. In such cases, we allow the presentation of thoughts that may lead to a correct understanding. Unfulfilled prophecy is not the same as the gospel message. I seldom quote people in the church, I rather share inspiration. But, in reply to your question I share a statement by James White. He suggested "caution in the interpretation of unfilled prophecy."  We appreciate your thoughts, but there are others who are not convinced you are right, not yet. You may present all that your believe to be important in this area. I pray that you appreciate the freedom you are given in this matter. I don't know of any who have been offended even though they may strongly disagree with your position. I am not one of them, I am not convinced either way, but have taken the advice of James White, which I consider most appropriate for us on this particular issue.

One of the blessings that we strongly strive for here is the Spirit of God as seen in the fellowship especially when there are opposing positions on doctrine. The fruits of the Spirit are all in the converted Christian and is manifested in our courtesy to others. Many are tired of the daily battles and come here for sweet fellowship. We exist because this did not exist in this type of ministry in the past.

I pray that I have answered your question. We are very careful when it comes to what is "taught". If you find a "teaching" that is contrary to Scripture, we surely appreciate you pointing it out. God is not honored when we speak things He has not said.  "Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?"  Job 38:2. When we "teach" we want to be right for His honor and glory.

Thanks for this clarification Richard. I appreciate your quoting of James White. His is good counsel. However, there is enough of Daniel11 already fulfilled in order to make it clear what power is represented as the King of the North. It is easy to see where the KOTN becomes Rome (see U Smith's commentary) The  KOTN is the LAST power that attacks God's people, and that is a fundamental fact in both Daniel and Revelation, It is ALWAYS Rome that is the final anti God power in ALL lines of prophecy is both the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy. It is.

Hello all :)

I'm Tamara... and well I am new! ;D I was actually invited by Vicki after she met me on another forum in which I was becoming very lost and flustered. Everything I said, even a prayer request turned into a huge debate (amazing, post a prayer request about health and you end up with over 30 posts on weather or not you should have a vegan diet, all of not really relating to what the issue was)

I hope I find a more friendly, family situation here where I can learn free of constant debate and confusion. I myself am a new Christian, let alone SDA as I have only been in the church for 3 years and was baptised 2 months ago! I am however eager to learn and to grow and to share what I have learnt in my short amount of time in study.

God has been very good to me, which I am sure you will all hear about later.

At least for now, Happy Sabbath!

(P.S...... I hope I posted in the right place I was a little lost! :-[)

Hello Tamara!  You have a lot of "big brothers and sisters" here that will keep you safe.  The reason we exist is to provide a safe place for fellowship for those who love Jesus and want to reflect His character. We all do not see everything the same, but we also do not enjoy debate. We will defend the truth, but it will be done with respect and love. Let us esteem each other's opinion higher than our own. At the same time, this fellowship is for like believers who love the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy. We do not allow for teaching of doctrine contrary to our faith. It may seem to be a difficult line to walk, but we try with the help of Jesus.

We love to find those who have questions rather than come to "teach". We appreciate teachers sent of God who point us to the Bible, but many desire to teach that which is not Biblical. Questions are always acceptable. We are all learning. There is safety in a multitude of counselors, counselors who are grounded in truth and love God and keep His commandments. Those who don't agree with this, are not allowed to "teach" here.  It is for the protection of such as you. God would have nothing less.

Again, welcome dear sister! We do look forward to getting to know you. We want to hear how God has been blessing in your life. Jesus is coming soon  and He is preparing us that we might be ready.  If you have any questions, feel free to ask any of us. We love you and are here to help you.

This is a good idea for first contact.  I feel quite privileged to be able to join a group of people that are interested in fellowship in Jesus while desiring to discuss varied topics while trying to build each other up instead of trying to cutting each other down.  Thank you for allowing me to fellowship with you.  May our time together be filled with all that edifies and strengthens God's people for His soon coming.

Yes, welcome Rob.  I'll try not to let my bison trample your bird.   ;) Perhaps the bird is good at picking ticks out of the fur?  ;D  It is a bird, isn't it?  If not, by BS in biology (life science) needs to be revoked.  ::)

This is my first time inside this forum and it is all quite unfamiliar to me as of yet. I'm not even sure about the flavor of Adventists that frequent this site  :o but over time I'm sure that will become more evident. I am still just trying to figure out how to navigate around the site at this point.
I am curious as to about how many members belong to this forum if that is not confidential info. I also am restricted to dial-up most of the time so I will not be able to be a regular visitor but do like to check in when I can if I feel I can make and receive a good contribution.

Welcome, Floyd, we are happy to have you, even on dialup, bless you!  :) We are Bible believing and practicing Seventh-day Adventists. We uphold the 28 Fundamental Beliefs of the church. We also believe in the inspiration of God's end-time prophet. So, now you know which flavor we are.  ;D And we also pray you are, too!

From the front of our website, the index page you will see this:

We hope you will add to our Bible discussions. Blessings and have a restful Sabbath.

Thank-you for your welcome. I can see that you are strong supporters of the church doctrine list and Ellen White coming in. I have no problem with that myself as long as one does not get either of those ahead of a personal accountability to God above anything else. I was raised in a very conservative home very strictly guided by both of these, but my view of God was very dark as a result. Not saying that it had to be that way, but too often SOP is used as a club as I hope you are might notice.
I decided as a teenager to not leave the church but to plow through and hope that someday I might make sense out of this religion stuff. Years later God began introducing Himself to me personally and the journey has been improving ever since. I still enjoy Ellen White and believe she was inspired, but I now have a far greater passion for getting into the Word and listening for the Holy Spirit to bring insights to my heart. This has put me at odds with those who insist on a hierarchical religion and submission to 'authority' when it comes to beliefs. I hope to find people here who are willing to grow with me rather than dictate, but time will tell.

You will find you were not alone as many experienced the same thing. We do not use either the Bible nor the SOP to beat anyone over the head. It does not work. It is not the work of the Spirit of God. We do have personal accountability to God and God has His church. We support it, faulty as it is. There will be revival and reformation like nothing any of us has ever before seen. That is the important work ahead of us as members. We pray to press together to that end.

Welcome, Floyd.  The name has good memories for me.  I've had two very good friends over the years who shared that name.

You will find that we can have spirited discussions here, but we try to avoid them becoming personal.  We use the SOP to uphold truth, but not to beat anyone up.  Using Scripture as a club is no better, even though we uphold it as the final arbiter of truth.

I think all the other moderators would agree with me that our goals here are to uphold Christ and His church, and to build each other up, rather than tear each other down.  Time is short and we want to help each other be ready for the second coming of Jesus.  As someone has so profoundly said, "We're all in this together; I'm not going to laugh if your end of the boat is sinking."  ;)  So, even though we may disagree amongst ourselves at times, we do so in the spirit of Christian love.  Even Paul and Barnabas had a disagreement; but it worked out for the furtherance of the gospel.
