There is another story of large proportions and it is not being reported properly. It is political and very sad. We as a people ought to be ashamed for not speaking up loudly about what is happening.

Sudan: Darfur Crisis Deepens As Adventist Churches Are Destroyed

Seventh-day Adventist churches in the Abu Garajil and Juruf districts of the Darfur region of western Sudan have been destroyed during the escalating humanitarian and security crisis unfolding there, church leaders say.
"Our members have been displaced. They are without food, clothing or shelter to sleep under," reports William Kabi Oliver, a pastor and district leader for the Adventist Church in the area.
In spite of their difficulties and constant threat to personal security, Oliver says that the members are eagerly gathering for worship services. "Since the forest there is not thick, they find it difficult even to shelter under the trees for services. Instead they prefer to worship in the evening when the sun goes down because during the day you cannot bear the hot sun."
Paul Yithak, secretary for the Adventist Church's regional headquarters in northern Sudan, explains how the situation in Darfur has been tragically excluded from the peace talks currently underway to end decades of civil war between the governing authorities of the North and South. "May 27 was a remarkable day in the history of Sudan. The two warring parties have signed very important protocols for power sharing. These agreements are major steps toward lasting peace in Sudan. But we still have the war in Darfur, which is considered to be the worst human tragedy on the face of the earth at the moment."
The Brussels-based International Crisis Group confirms this assertion. In their May 23, 2004 report, they state, "A month after the international community solemnly marked the tenth anniversary of the Rwandan genocide in April 2004 with promises of 'never again,' it faces a man-made humanitarian catastrophe in western Sudan [Darfur] that can easily become nearly as deadly."
The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), the humanitarian arm of the Adventist Church, sent a crisis assessment team to the region April 24 through 30 this year. Observations published in their May bulletin are equally grim: "In general, all internally displaced people are living in miserable conditions, having lost all their belongings and all their livestock except for one or two starved donkeys. Crops and houses have been burned down and agricultural land is inaccessible due to insecurity."
ADRA's initial response will be centered on the area of water and sanitation with the overall goal of improving the health of the people.
Responding to the news from Darfur, Pastor Peter Roennfeldt, responsible for the Adventist Church's Global Mission evangelism projects in the Trans-European region, incorporating Sudan, said, "This is an extremely difficult and tragic situation for our people. Of course we are saddened to hear of the destruction of these church buildings--however, we are even more concerned about the injury and death suffered by the people."

According to the liberal press in Europe and the U.S., Muslims are unhappy with the U.S. because of Israel, therefore all the violence. Not so. Muslims are active all over the world against more than Israel and the U.S. The following story ought to touch the hearts of all who read. Christianity does not have as a basic tenant, violence against infidels as does Islam.

After 16 years of civil war pitting the mainly Muslim north against the Christians and animists of the south, "the government at the top level knows that we have to tolerate one another,"Rorec said. "We admit there are some atrocities or mistakes that are being committed. This it will take us time to correct."
Sudan's war began in 1983 when the south rebelled against northerners' attempts to impose Islamic law and against what southerners' contend was discrimination and unfair allocation of government resources by the north.
The division is also based on ethnicity: The north is largely Arab and the south mostly African. Sudan's 26 million people belong to 20 ethnic groups, with about three-fifths of the population Muslim and the rest Christian or of tribal faiths."

It seems that we easily overlook the degree of Muslim violence in the world today. There is no peace and safety anywhere in the world. In a moment a whole city in any country can be destroyed by people who believe they are serving God. As in the first and second woe, God is allowing this evil to come upon a world that has rejected His truth and His love. We can expect that the violence will continue. It is impossible to protect against this type of evil at every point. Only God can protect and He will protect those who love, reverence, and obey Him.

The two crashed Russian jets are now believed to have been the work of Islamic terrorists as was a bomb blast last night in Russia that killed eight and wounded 50.
Today, 400 are being held hostage in a Russian school. 200 are believed to be students who have been targeted for death if any of the terrorists are injured or killed. The hostages have threatened "for every destroyed fighter, they will kill 50 children and for every injured fighter 20 (children)," the ITAR-Tass news agency reported. IDS News
They did it today. They killed hundreds of the hostages including many children. This will open the eyes of many who have been slow to condemn Muslim violence. It ought to provoke questions about violence in other religions also. It gives us opportunity to point to Christ and His ways and how there are false "Christian" churches.
Muslims cannot earn salvation. They do not understand this. They believe and are taught that they can make themselves acceptable to God. They believe murdering their enemies and their enemies children will make them more acceptable in God's eyes...that it will earn them something. It will not.
If we go back to the Old Testament which the Jews, the Muslims, and Christians accept as the Word of God we find there the lessons that point to Jesus as the only acceptable sacrifice for sin. Man cannot earn salvation, it is a free gift from the God of heaven. Here is a lesson for our Muslim friends to learn. They have been deceived about the character of God and the plan of salvation. As they learn the lesson God intends from the offering of Isaac, they will see that God's love is revealed in the death of Christ.
We sympathize with Muslims who for over eighteen hundred years have witnessed a very poor representation of Christianity. They have had the true gospel hidden from their eyes to a great degree. They have not been given a correct interpretation of the sacrificial system that pointed to Christ as the Sacrifice for sin. We pray that those of the Muslim faith who are honest of heart will seek after God with the whole heart and will find Him.
The Muslim may understand that Christ is not just a prophet, but that He is the Son of God and did not remain in the grave. He lives today as the Saviour for all humanity including the Muslim. It is His Spirit that speaks to the conscience of all men.
A further 447 people were still in hospital on Sunday afternoon, Russia's Interfax news agency reports.
Hospital doctors have pasted photographs of casualties too young or traumatised to give their names, alongside the lists of patients under treatment.

"In the territory of Northern Ossetia there are only two Adventists churches -- in Vladikavkaz and Mozdok -- also we have two groups in Beslan and Alagir," explained Valery Ivanov, communication director for the Euro-Asia church region. "All together, there are 146 Adventist members in the immediate area, but none were injured in the tragedy."
However, Ivanov, added, "We suffer [along] with our brothers and sisters from the Baptist Church. There are 200 Baptists in Beslan, and the Baptist church elder Taimuraz Tatiev and his five children were all hostages. His brother, Segei, has six children, of which three were hostages. There were children from other Christian families."
Both Baptist families lost children in the siege, Ivanov said.
The local Seventh-day Adventist Church expressed its condolences to the leaders of Baptist churches in Russia and in the Northern Caucasus region, Ivanov noted. The local Adventist Church donated 30,000 rubles (approximately U.S. $1,027) to help the victims, and is raising more funds through a special bank account.
On Sabbath, Sept. 11, and Sunday, Sept. 12, local Adventist church leaders participated in the funeral services held in the Belsan Baptist Church. Ivanov said Adventists are visiting children who are in hospital, along with their relatives. They pray with them and help with funeral arrangements, because many of the victims are friends and neighbors.
In a message to Russian president Vladimir V. Putin, Euro-Asia church president Artur A. Stele offered sympathy during this time.
"We express deep condolences to the relatives and friends of hostages who had been killed in city Beslan, [as well as] to those who died in the plane crashes on Aug. 24 and those killed at the Rizhskaya metro [subway] station in Moscow as a result of terrorist attacks. Thousands of Adventist churches in deep sorrow pray that God will give all Russians strength and endurance to stand the loss of children, relatives and friends," Pastor Stele wrote.
Although the Seventh-day Adventist Church endeavors not to be involved in political issues, the church, on a global basis, rejects the use of violence as a method for conflict resolution.
"While it is inevitable that nations and people will try to defend themselves by responding in a military way to violence and terror -- which sometimes results in short-term success -- lasting answers to deep problems of division in society cannot be achieved by using violent means," church leaders urged in a 2002 statement.
"Lasting peace does not result from violent means, but is achieved by negotiation, dialogue, and, inevitably, political compromise. In the long run, reasoned discourse has superior authority over military force," the statement indicated.

Except in the Old Testament and WWI and WWII. There will be no "lasting peace" in this world until Jesus returns. A good example of the need to resort to "violent means" was WWII where England and the U.S. defended the world against aggression. It seems that negotiation and reasoning failed and led to much death and suffering. At times it has become necessary to take up arms in defense of freedom.

BERLIN - Europe will have an Islamic majority by the end of this century
based on current demographic and migration trends, a leading US Middle East
specialist says.
"Europe will be part of the Arab west - the Maghreb," said Bernard Lewis, a
Princeton University professor and author of numerous books on the Middle
East, in an interview with the newspaper Die Welt.
In addition to immigration, Lewis said Europeans were marrying too late and
having too few children whereas Muslims in Europe married early and had far
larger numbers of children.
"Current trends show Europe will have a Moslem majority by the end of the
21st century at the latest," said Lewis as quoted by the paper.
Germany, the biggest European Union (EU) country, currently has over 3
million Muslims out of a total population of 82 million.
EU leaders will in December decide on whether to open membership talks with
mainly Muslim Turkey which currently has a population of 70 million but is
expected to outgrow Germany in coming decades

Following the September 11, 2001 attacks and ongoing terrorism, Muslims have
embarked upon a public relations campaign and ³apologetics² with the goal of
presenting a ³kinder, gentler² face for Islam. A commonly presented version
of history tells of the Islamic occupation of Spain, while characterizing it
as an enlightened and benevolent reign. The truth is far different.
"In Granada, the Jewish viziers Samuel Ibn Naghrela, and his son Joseph, who
protected the Jewish community, were both assassinated between 1056 to 1066,
followed by the annihilation of the Jewish population by the local Muslims.
It is estimated that up to five thousand Jews perished in the pogrom by
Muslims that accompanied the 1066 assassination. This figure equals or
exceeds the number of Jews reportedly killed by the Crusaders during their
pillage of the Rhineland, some thirty years later, at the outset of the
First Crusade. The Granada pogrom was likely to have been incited, in part,
by the bitter anti-Jewish ode of Abu Ishaq a well known Muslim jurist and
poet of the times, who wrote:
"Bring them down to their place and Return them to the most abject station.
They used to roam around us in tatters covered with contempt, humiliation,
and scorn. They used to rummage amongst the dungheaps for a bit of a filthy
rag To serve as a shroud for a man to be buried in...Do not consider that
killing them is treachery. Nay, it would be treachery to leave them
scoffing.' " [The translator then summarizes: 'The Jews have broken their
covenant (i.e., overstepped their station, with reference to the Covenant of
Umar) and compunction would be out of place]" (Perlmann, M. "Eleventh
Century Andalusian Authors on the Jews of Granada," Proceedings of the

Today, few correctly understand the role of the Muslim world in Bible prophecy. One hundred years ago it was not so.
I find it very interesting the U.N. and the news media say nothing about the Muslim violence being religious in nature. It is an amazing thing to watch as they ignore the religious persecution.
The Lord Himself and His Apostles would not be allowed to preach today because they would actualy accuse others of being SINNERS!!! Aren't we all thankful that the world is a more loving and forgiving place today??:rolleyes
The Bible speaks of a time when men's hearts will fail them from fear. It is the work of terrorists to put this fear into the hearts of men, women, and children. This they have done. But, they have not included God in their plans. There is a people who will survive their evil ways. And, through the time of trouble that will only get worse will manifest a peace that passeth understanding.
In 2002 the "Yale Daily News" reported on an address by a human rights
activist and an Egyptian scholar examining how this compassionate system has
fared:
"I compare Dhimmi to the laws and ideology of Jim Crow that lingered for
decades after slavery was abolished in the American South. The Arab world's
Dhimmi legacy, its Jim Crow, was given new life with the rise of Arab
nationalism" (Malaka Bubliel, human rights activist).
"We are dealing with a legal code that forces a section of citizens into
second-class status, disenfranchised and denied fundamental human rights.
Yeor quotes a seventh-century caliph who describes the system as one whose
purpose is to "produce a condition of humiliation, degradation, and
vulnerability." The deep-rooted ideology of Dhimmitude becomes especially
poignant in the Western world's struggles with Arab nations.
"Critics of Israel have adopted the term 'apartheid' to describe its current
situation. Their claims of apartheid almost seem ridiculous in light of the
Dhimmitude described by Yeor, Bubliel, and other scholars. On the one hand,
you have Israel. Would an apartheid consist of full voting rights for all
its citizens, including all Arab Israelis? How about 10 Arab members of the
Israeli Parliament? Israel is the only country in the Middle East where Arab
women can vote. Israel has a 72 percent Jewish population and an 18 percent
Arab population, yet even though it rules by the majority (which makes it
expressly non-apartheid), the minority is given full rights in all aspects
of life, including voting, education, and employment.
"On the contrary, you have Pakistan with its anti-Christian legislation.
There is Iran, with its systematic oppression of the Bahai community. Let's
not forget Sudan's murder and enslavement of black Africans, as well as
Indonesia's terrorizing of Christian minorities. Egypt stands proud in its
oppression of Coptic Christians, while Islamic radicals in Bangladesh
terrorize Hindu and Christian minorities. And then there's Saudi Arabia,
whose theocratic policies can only be described as apartheid for all
non-Muslims. And all these can be traced back to the concept of Dhimmitude
(Krieger, "Locating Tolerance in the Arab World," "Yale Daily News," October
29,2002).

If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
The Associated Press reports that violence between Muslims and Christians in central Nigeria over the last three years has left more than 53,000 people dead.
A government-appointed committee said 53,787 people had died in Plateau state alone between September 2001 and May 2004.
Most of the casualties have been Christians killed in riots and militia attacks carried out by radical Muslim groups. Evidence is emerging that shows the Muslim militias receive foreign funding to purchase weapons and material. The militias often mount attacks from neighboring countries, such as Niger and Chad, which have large Muslim populations.
The words in the music video are sung by a woman vocalist wearing an army
uniform, and the visuals include children in frenzied war dances,
interspersed between scenes of children participating in violence in combat
zones, reports Palestinian Media Watch.
The lyrics to the song, translated by PMW, glorify suicide bombing the
becoming a Shahid: "You will not be saved, Oh Zionist, from the volcano of
my country's stones, You are the target of my eyes, I will even willingly
fall as a Shahid [Martyr for Allah]. You are the target of my eyes, I will
even willingly fall as a Shahid. Allah Akbar, Oh the young ones."
The familiar term jihad, often translated holy war, literally means
struggle. Many Muslims emphasize that jihad is about struggling against evil
desires and, if necessary, defending one's homeland and religious heritage.
"Fight for the sake of God those that fight against you, but do not attack
them first. God does not love the aggressors. Slay them wherever you find
them. Drive them out of the places from which they drove you. Idolatry is
more grievous than bloodshed.... Fight against them until idolatry is no
more and God's religion reigns supreme." (Qur'an 2:190-192) [Note: Qur'anic
quotes from N.J.Dawood¹s English translation (The Koran, Penguin Books, UK,
1993)]. A favorite verse of moderate Muslims is 2:256 which says: "Let there
be no compulsion in religion. True guidance is now distinct from error."
Militant Muslims, however, will point you to numerous Qur'anic texts where
Muhammad (as Allah's spokesman) commands his followers to fight and subdue
all who resist Islam.
* "As for those who are slain in the cause of God, He will not allow their
works to perish. ... He will admit them to the Paradise He has made known to
them." (47:4-6)
* "Let those who would exchange the life of this world for the hereafter,
fight for the cause of God; whether he dies or triumphs, We shall richly
reward him. ... The true believers fight for the cause of God, but the
infidels fight for the devil. Fight then against the friends of Satan ..."
(4:74,76)
* "The believers who stay at homeapart from those that suffer a grave
impedimentare not the equals of those who fight for the cause of God with
their goods and their persons. God has given those that fight with their
goods and their persons a higher rank than those who stay at home ..."
(4:95,96)
* "Slay the idolaters wherever you find them. ... lie in ambush everywhere
for them. If they repent and take to prayer and render the alms levy, allow
them to go their way ..." (9:5)
* "Those that make war against God and His apostle and spread disorder in
the land shall be put to death or crucified or have their hands and feet cut
off on alternate sides, or be banished from the land. They shall be held up
to shame in this world and sternly punished in the hereafter: except those
that repent before you reduce them ..." (5:34,35)
* "Make war on them until idolatry shall cease and God's religion shall
reign supreme" (8:39)
* "Prophet, rouse the faithful to arms. If there are twenty steadfast men
among you, they shall vanquish two hundred; and if there are a hundred, they
shall rout a thousand unbelievers, for they are devoid of understanding."
(8:65)
* "Fight against such of those to whom the Scriptures were given ... and do
not embrace the true Faith, until they pay tribute out of hand and are
utterly subdued." (9:29)
"Non-Muslim residents of this country must respect Muslims' feelings by
refraining from eating, drinking or smoking in public places, in the streets
and in workplaces during the dawn-to-dusk fast observed by Muslims
throughout the holy month," the statement said.
The ministry reminded non-Muslims in the Kingdom that they are obliged to
respect Islamic rules and follow the Kingdom's regulations on the basis of
the terms of their contracts. The ministry called upon companies and
individual employers to explain the statement to their non-Muslim staff and
caution them against violating it.
[This is just one more example of how Islamic control is total and
allows no freedom of conscience. It also shows that Islamic principles can
only be maintained through repression of contrary thoughts. Islam cannot
change the heart, it can only temporarily cage the beast. In contrast, James
1:20 notes that "...the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God."]
Daniel 11:40-45
has given us the prophetic picture.
The King of the North is the papacy. That is confirmed by Bible students from James White, to present day. It's the only explanation that fits the sequences throughout the whole book of Daniel.
Next we know that the papacy relies on "armies". The year 508 is an important year in prophecy because that is the year the Papacy received it's "army" as in the Franks. (this phase is in Daniel 11:31)
Ellen White states that the history of those verses will be repeated-- as in Rev. 13 where the beast with two horns is the power that forces the world to follow the papal worship. That army is the United States of America. Yes, they will join with the papacy to enforce religion.
THE KING OF THE SOUTH
Originally Egypt.
If you look at the territory of the Muslim world around 690 A.D. you see that they cover an area like a broad sweep south or underneath the Christian territories. They had all of North Africa, including Egypt. In the west they crept up into Spain, and in the east up into the middle east.
The picture of the territories of Christians, and Muslims during this time, show a clear north and south polarization.

With that introduction, we will now read Daniel 11:40-45
At the end of time the Muslims will engage the Christians in battle, the the Christian power will storm out against him with great war equipement. He will invade many countries and sweep through them like a flood. He will also control the beautiful land.
Many countries will fall to his power, but he won't attack Jordan (Jordan covers most of the territory once known as Edom. Moab and Ammon)
He will extend his power over many countries including Egypt. He will gain control of the riches of Eygpt (oil wells).
He will bring Libyia and the Sudan into subjection (Libyans and Nubians).
But reports from the east and the north will alarm him, and he will set out in a great rage to destroy and annihilate many.
Christianity will base itself in what used to be the "holy land"
Yet it will come to it's end.
It will seem like the "crusade" for Christ has won--
But it will come to his end and no one will help him...
WHY?

Filmmaker Theo van Gogh, was murdered in the Netherlands by Muslim terrorists. In a letter stuck to his body were these statements: "Death, Ms. Hirsi Ali, is the common theme of all that exists. You and the rest of the cosmos cannot escape this truth.. "There will come a day when one soul cannot help another soul. A day that goes paired with terrible tortures, ... when the unjust will press horrible screams from their lungs. Screams, Ms. Hirsi Ali, that will cause chills to run down a person's back, and make the hairs on their heads stand straight up. People will be drunk with fear, while they are not drunken. Fear will fill the air on the Great Day...I know definitely that you, Oh America, will go down. I know definitely that you, Oh Europe, will go down. I know definitely that you, Oh Netherlands, will go down. I know definitely that you, Oh Hirsi Ali, will go down."
Hirsi Ali is an ex Muslim who did a Muslim expose script for the slain film maker.
The concern is the power of propaganda.
What was it that promoted otherwise sane and upright citizens during WWII to allow the round up and destruction of millions of Jews.
What was it that allowed otherwise sane and upright citizens during WW11 to allow the round up, confiscation of property and placing in refugee camps thousands of Japanese.
It was propaganda. It was taking every possible accusation and embellishing it to make the people slated for extinction look as evil as possible.
Try to look at that article realistically.
1. It's a terrible crime. Anyone killing someone else is a murderer and needs to be dealt with by law. No question on that.
2. Throughout history, we have had accounts when a muslim "turns" and goes into some type of work that speaks against muslim culture, they are at risk with their lives. This is what happened in the article, the woman threatened was ex-Muslim and had dishonored her culture, according to the Muslim mind-set.
We all agree that, that type of control over their own people is revolting to us.
No question on that either.
But now let's move into the propaganda.

Was it really a declaration of holy war against the country?
Or was it just following the cultural policy (bad as we might see that in itself)?
From the article itself, it appears it was the latter, and even though we don't agree one bit with that type of thinking and action, yet the conclusion the article draws would then be propaganda and not fact.
Now, the letter had some pretty chilling words in it. It was definately a death threat to the lady to which it was addressed.
We do not agree with that type of thing AT ALL.
However, the rest of the "threat"--
what Great Day is the writer speaking about when all these nations will go down.
The propaganda twist tends to make people believe the muslims have some day set apart when they are going to torture the whole world and drench it in blood.
However, I don't see that in the writing. I see a religious fanatic reminding this woman that Allah is going to destroy all evil and injustice on that great day. Maybe I'm wrong, but when some speaks of "that great day" in which nations go down, it seems to be speaking of the end of the world.
I don't at all agree with his methods, however,--
Our own Bibles tell us similar things about knashing of teeth, weeping and wailing, all earthly kingdoms being destroyed, etc. etc.
But back to the article--
they know who the man is--
The just thing to do is put him in prison, lock him up. They know about his "criminal organization" -- they need to go after that organization.
But to heighten hatred against,
about 300,000 Moroccan immigrants in the Netherlands, is not right.
Already these immigrants are being harrassed from all sides. Their mosques being burnt etc.
It is said "These people don't want to change our society, they want to destroy it,"
Is that true of all 300,000?
I bet from all those 300,000 most of them are happy to simply live their lives in peace.
I also wonder how many other murders happened in the last few days in the Neatherlands, that had nothing to do with muslims?
Society is no longer safe, even if there are no muslims anywhere near.
Propaganda--
Here's an article that appeared in the German Newspapers "Der Stürmer" back in 1941:

The Frankfurt Selichoth (a Jewish law book), page 715, includes this prayer that the Jews in their synagogues have used to call down the curse of their God Jahwe on Gentile humanity:"Bring the worst wars to the homes of the Gentiles. Infect then with smallpox and punish them in your anger and fury. . . . Destroy their kings through war and take revenge upon them. Drive their heads to the ground in your fury!"
And these millions of German men who are experiencing the results of Jewish hatred in their battle against Bolshevism do not see the recently released demands of Theodore N. Kaufmann (sic), a Jew living in America, as the crazy thinking of insane Jewish brain. Because of the knowledge they have gained in fighting Bolshevism, they see the Jew Kaufmann's demands as an expression of the hatred that dwells in every Jew, a hatred that would come to expression were the Jews to succeed, with their democratic accomplices in England and America, in winning the war. I agree with the propaganda issue. Things today are sensationalized beyond proportion. I don't bring the article to attention because of the sensational nature of it, but rather to show another small piece of the puzzle in the last days.
The papacy as you well know has it's hands in many areas and it is not visible to the world.
Behind the scenes, plans are being made and movements are being put into play that will shape the future so the papacy will be able to step into the role, with the U.S. gov't to "save" the world from the terrors and evils that are occuring.
This can be seen by the movements around the world involving the Muslim religion. They are simply pawns in a greater picture.

But for thousands of Muslims who flocked to those theaters, the American premiere of the animated feature "Muhammad: The Last Prophet," was unquestionably a landmark cultural event.
The 90-minute movie, which recounts the story of the birth of Islam, began as the dream of a Saudi real estate investor, Muwaffak Alharithy, who said he felt that his children and other Muslim youth had been shortchanged by religious film offerings of Hollywood and decided to remedy the situation
himself.
In 1999, Mr. Alharithy hired a veteran director of Hollywood animated films, Richard Rich, whose movies include "The King and I" and "The Fox and the Hound." Mr. Alharithy said he ultimately spent $12 million to produce the feature, only to find American distributors hesitant in the aftermath of 9/11.
"What we found out in making the film is how little anybody knows about that religion and Muhammad," Mr. Rich said in an interview. "Here we thought that this film would at least open doors for that to happen, and then 9/11 seemed to close those doors for a while."
Both local and national Muslim leaders said they hoped non-Muslims would see the film. Debbie Almontaser, a Brooklyn activist who teaches cultural tolerance in New York City schools and for the organization Women in Islam, said the fact that so many American theaters opened their doors was a good sign.
Dr. James Zogby, president of the Arab American Institute in Washington, said, "Islam is a part of America right now and America is increasingly becoming a part of the Arab and Muslim world."
He added: "This is what globalization is about. It's not a one-way sell. It's a two-way sell." (Elliott, "New York Times," November 15, 2004).

Sadly she is no longer Protestant since most Protestants don't know what it means. Islam is not part of America and will not be. America has chosen to go in another direction. The President has exalted the pope and Evangelical America has reached over the abyss to clasp hands with Roman Catholicism. It does not yet appear that America will oppress the religious beliefs of God's people, but soon it will be made apparent that Rome has not changed, but rather "Protestantism" has.
For Franklin Graham, that includes his opposition to gay marriage and the religion of Islam.
The former is contrary to God's law, he said. And though many gay and lesbian couples believe their love is genuine, Franklin told the [Los Angeles] Times, "there were people who for centuries swore up and down the Earth was flat too.
"God says [homosexuality is] a sin," he continued. "Yet God loves sinners." And God, he stressed, is willing to forgive.
As to Islam, right after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, Franklin was quoted on "NBC Nightly News" as saying it was "an evil and wicked religion."
And he still feels that way.
"I haven't changed my mind," he told the paper. "When people's heads get chopped off and throats are cut and innocent people are murdered and slaughtered, my mind hasn't changed" (www.newsmax.com, November 29, 2004).

Religious leaders are hoping that their call for mutual respect between Muslims and Christians will increase tolerance as tension between the faithful, especially in Iraq, is undergoing “considerable escalation.”
The recent targeting of churches in Iraq by pamphleteers commanding them to convert to Islam or leave was cited as one of many examples of how the religious intolerance in Iraq is “getting worse,” according to Canon Andrew White of the Iraqi Centre for Dialogue, Reconciliation and Peace.
Individual Christians and churches in Mosul and Baghdad were picked out by followers of an Iraqi militant group during a mass leaflet distribution effort two weeks ago, according to Canon White.
“The leaflets stated that Christians must convert to Islam, leave Iraq, or face the consequences,” he said this week, speaking from Jerusalem.
The plea for interfaith unity, made last weekend during a conference in Tripoli, comes at a time when around 10 per cent of Iraq's estimated 800,000 Christians have already fled the country, according to the Washington Times.
In a recent report on an Iraqi congregation the Rev Saad Hanna, a priest at Mary Jacob Church in the Dora section of Baghdad, told the Washington Times the departure of “terrified” Christians has drained the church of two-thirds of their parishioners.
“The cries from Christians in Iraq are increasingly desperate,” Canon White said, adding that security guards outside St George’s Anglican church in Baghdad were recently forced to open fire on a group of suspected attackers, causing the suspects to flee.
Speaking at the Tripoli conference senior Muslim cleric Lhabib Belkhoja said Muslims should work to confront challenges to prove Islam is a religion of love and tolerance, according to Ekklesia news service. Papal representative Mgr Berluggi said respect was at the core of dialogue between different religions.

The Son of God was killed by religious people. Through the dark ages God's children were killed by religious people. "Religious" people have even offered their children as burnt offerings.
We ought to expect the same today. There are many who say they love and serve God, but do not do so. They do and will kill in the name of God, but one day they will see what they have done.
Here is an interesting truth that few are willing to discuss. I would encourage each of us no matter what our faith, to consider what is being practiced in the name of God.

Interesting that the world allows people to kill those who change their religion. Imagine doing so in the name of God.
Do a Google search on Joseph Ratzinger, he is a particularly frightening successor to the Pope. He is likened to the persecutors of the Dark Ages.

MOSUL/VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - The Iraqi Catholic archbishop of Mosul was kidnapped at gunpoint on Monday and the Vatican demanded his quick release and deplored what it branded an act of terrorism.
Archbishop Basile Georges Casmoussa, 66, was believed to be the highest-ranking Catholic prelate to be abducted in Iraq, where churches have been the target of a bombing campaign that has rattled the tiny Christian minority.
"We have received news of the kidnapping of the ... Archbishop of Mosul, Basile Georges Casmoussa," Chief Vatican spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls told Reuters.
"The Holy See deplores this act of terrorism in the firmest manner and demands that the worthy pastor is swiftly freed unharmed to continue to carry out his ministry."
Well, if this doesn't link the U.S. and the Pope, I don't know what will.

BRUTAL MURDER OF COPTIC CHRISTIAN FAMILY IN NEW JERSEY RAISES SPECTER OF
ISLAMIC VIOLENCE IN USA

JERSEY CITY, NJ (ANS) -- The murder of a Coptic Christian family in New
Jersey in January is causing many to wonder if radical Islamic vengeance has
hit the streets of America.
On January 14 Hossam Armanious, 47, his wife, Amal Garas, 37, and their two
children, Sylvia, 15, and Monica, 8, were found bound, gagged and stabbed to
death in their Jersey City home.
The website Jihad Watch quoted the New York Post as saying family members
who viewed photos of the bodies observed that Sylvia, who would have turned
16 the next day, apparently was attacked with greater savagery. The killers
not only slit her throat, but slashed a huge gash in her chest and stabbed
her in the wrist, where she had a tattoo of a Coptic cross.
"Family members are loathe to blame Muslim extremists for the murders," said
Sliwa in an article published by the New York Sun, but point out "the
details of the killings are similar to murders perpetrated by extremists in
Egypt, where Coptic Christians have been bound, gagged and had their throats
slit."
The article went on to say that the Hudson County Prosecutor suggested
robbery may have been the motive and cites as evidence Armanious¹s pockets
being turned out, his wallet and a pocketbook emptied, and drawers rifled.
But relatives scoff at the suggestion. "The police have vouchered all of the
jewelry. None of it was taken. In fact, my daughter was still wearing a ring
worth $3,500 after she was murdered," said Anies Garas, Amal's father, the
Sun article reported.
But what could have provoked radical Muslims to perform such a hate crime?
According to several reports, Armanious boldly proclaimed his faith on
Internet chat rooms and invited Muslims to believe in Christ, and had been
doing so for about five years. His intrepid declarations drew numerous
threats via the website. When one Muslim told him to "shut up," Armanious
allegedly replied, "I can say whatever I want. I live in America."
One of them said, "You¹d better stop this . . . or we are going to track you
down like a chicken and kill you," according to a store clerk who was on
line at the same time and saw the messages.
According to Jihad Watch the killers had been practicing taqiyya, Islamic
deception. They gained the confidence of the Armanious family by pretending
to convert to Christianity. When they showed up at the Armanious home that
fateful night, they presumably were welcomed in without hesitation, since
there was no sign of break in.
While some Muslim clergy immediately denounced the grisly murders, some went
on to denounce charges that the killings were religiously motivated.
According to an Associated Press story by Wayne Parry, Ahmed Shedeed,
director of the Islamic Center of Jersey City said, "We Muslims living in
America are getting sick of this crap. Why should we have to apologize for
or make a defense of something we had nothing to do with? There is no proof
at all that Muslims had anything to do with this, yet we are taking the
blame again. Is Islam on trial, or is a killer on trial?"
[This pattern of violence has persisted for centuries and is continual
evidence that despite the politically correct mantra, Islam does not tend to
peace.]
What is the Al-Qa'ida Organization in Iraq?
"...What is the Al-Qa'ida organization in Iraq? This is an organization
consisting of a group of Muslims from amongst the followers of the tradition
and the community of believers [ahl al-sunna wa'l jama'a] which tries to
please Allah by committing themselves to keep Allah's orders and
proscriptions and to see to it that others do so [as well]... it has set for
itself a number of central goals which are mutually interrelated and
complementary:
"1) Renewing pure monotheism which was brought by our Prophet Muhammad
amongst those whose monotheism was sullied by the filth of polytheistic
elements, and the spreading of the axiom 'there is no God but Allah' in
lands where Islam has not yet arrived.
"2) Jihad for the sake of Allah, so that His message be supreme, and in
order to recapture all the lands of the Muslims from the hands of the
infidels and the apostates, and to apply the Shari'a law, Allah's law, in
these areas, without any distinction [in this respect] between ruler and
ruled, and to free the Muslim prisoners of war, since this is a personal
obligation [incumbent] on every Muslim, as all the ulama agree...
"3) To come to the aid of Muslims wherever they are and to reclaim the
Muslim's dignity, which has been soiled by the [foreign] invaders and their
agents, and his human rights of which he has been deprived, and to strive to
improve his conditions and circumstances in every respect, both religious
and this-wordly -- material, social, educational, etc. -- in accordance with
the teachings of Islam...
"4) To re-establish the Rightly-Guided Caliphate in accordance with the
Prophet's example, because [according to the tradition] 'whoever dies
without having sworn allegiance to a Muslim ruler dies as an unbeliever.'
"Our guiding principle with regard to our great goals is: [to follow] the
Koran and the tradition of the Prophet, in the way of the righteous early
generations, and [to follow] the elucidations of the great ulama from among
those faithful to the Sunna [ahl al-sunna] .
"One of the great principles of our faith is that we should not spill even a
drop of Muslim blood unjustly, for the end of the whole world is less
significant than the spilling of one Muslim's blood."

Right now, in tolerant Holland, the leader of a major political group, Geert Wilders, lives in hiding, moving from army base to army base. The same is true for one of the most outstanding members of the Dutch parliament, Ayaan Hirsi Ali.
In England, one Will Cummins lost his job even for writing some very mild home truths about Islam; so did a popular BBC host.
At the U.N. Human Rights Commission in Geneva, when evidence was produced that high-school textbooks in Egypt contained Qur'anic passages urging the killing of Infidels, the Pakistani ambassador, speaking for all 56 or 57 members of the Organization of Islamic Countries, called such a charge an act of defamation and incitement to hatred, and prevented the textbooks to be shown.
In other words, Muslims can inculcate hatred of Infidels (and it is all over the Qur'an, Hadith, and Sira), but those who point this out are guilty of 'whipping up hatred' themselves" (Hugh Fitzgerald, www.jihadwatch.org/dhimmiwatch, March 23, 2005).

The persecution of Jews in Roman Catholic Europe was mild compared with what Christians and Jews endured for 1,300 years in Muslim countries. The slaughter included more than 1 million Armenians in the last decades of the nineteenth and first of the twentieth centuries -- at times with the tacit approval of Western powers. In the great 1915 massacre, "Turkish women were given the dagger to give the final stab to dying Armenians in order to gain credit [with] Allah for having killed a Christian."
In Ataturk's destruction of Smyrna (leaving nothing but the Turkish suburb) in September of 1922, about 200,000 Armenian and Greek inhabitants were massacred while English, American, Italian and French warships anchored in the harbor repelled fleeing victims who swam out to them for help. The Western powers didn't want to offend Muslim Turkey! In his must-read book, The Blight of Asia, George Horton, U.S. Consul in that doomed city and eye-witness to the unspeakable cruelty of Islam, writes, "One of the keenest impressions which I brought away with me from Smyrna was a feeling of shame that I belonged to the human race."
In its foreword, James W. Gerard, former U.S. Ambassador to Germany, describes Horton's book as "the whole story of the savage extermination of Christian civilization [by Muslims] throughout the length and breadth of the old Byzantine Empire . . . . " Horton himself writes, "This process of extermination was carried on over a considerable period of time, with fixed purpose, with system, and with painstaking minute details; and it was accomplished with unspeakable cruelties . . . . "
BERLIN: Frost covers the roses, and the scrawled eulogies are tattered near the sidewalk where Hatun Surucu was gunned down. The attackers appeared on a cold night more than a month ago. Three shots were fired and the young Turkish woman crumpled in the blurred glare of a streetlight.
The accused assailants fled to a place that Surucu knew well: the home where she was raised. Her killers, police say, were her brothers. A 23-year-old single mother seeking to escape tradition and religious constraints, Surucu was the sixth Muslim woman to have died in the German capital since October in suspected "honor killings," slayings arranged by families who believe that their reputations have been stained.
Such crimes are rarely mentioned in Germany's newspapers.
But Surucu's public slaying has instigated fresh debates on politics, immigration, human rights and a rigorous Islam adopted by a minority of Muslims confronted with poverty, discrimination and liberal European attitudes. The case is a portrait of contradictions -- much like Surucu, whose memorial pictures show her either wearing the hijab, the head scarf of her Eastern heritage, or with the uncovered hair of her Western aspirations.

Two teachers at the Abraar Islamic school in Ottawa were suspended yesterday pending an investigation into the encouragement or incitement of hatred against Jews expressed in a young student's violence-laden writing project.
The other teacher had written comments on the student's paper..."God bless you, your efforts are good," the teacher wrote on the title page. "The story of the hero Ahmed and the hero Salah is still alive. The end will be soon when God unites us all in Jerusalem to pray there."
On the margins inside the story, the teacher had written a note endorsing the boy's fantasy of a young Ahmed Yassin and his friend, Salah El-Dine, ambushing Israeli soldiers.
"Without thinking, Ahmed took his M16 machine-gun and threw the bombs, and he showered the Jews; this resulted in the killing of the soldiers," the boy's text reads. "Salah said: 'You killed them all.' Ahmed answered: 'Praise be to God.'"
"During my tenure at the Abraar school I have had the privilege to work with all the Abraar teaching staff and found them to be warm, caring and professional," Ms. Schoones said.
"As a teacher who has dealt with equity issues in the past, I have found the staff to have accepted and welcomed my presence. At no time during my tenure at the school have I seen any racial comments towards any culture. In fact I have found the staff to be interested in learning about all aspects of Canadian culture. I would consider it a shame if all the hard work put in by staff at the school was tarnished by this incident " (Juliet O'Neill, The Ottawa Citizen, Thursday, March 24, 2005).

The Royal Court Theatre, one of London most prestigious venues, is staging a play glorifying a young American radical who was killed after jumping in front of a moving Israeli army bulldozer that was attempting to demolish a structure suspected of concealing tunnels used for smuggling weapons. But what about the real victims of the Intifada? Does anyone remember them?
"My Name is Rachel Thaler" is not the title of a play that is likely to be produced anytime soon in London. Thaler, aged 16, was blown up at a pizzeria in an Israeli shopping mall. She died after an 11-day struggle for life following the February 16, 2002 attack, when a suicide bomber approached a crowd of teenagers and blew himself up.
She was a British citizen, born in London, where her grandparents still live. Yet I doubt that anyone at London's Royal Court Theatre or most people in the British media, have heard of her. "Not a single British journalist has ever interviewed me or mentioned her death," her mother Ginette told me last week.
Thaler's parents donated her organs for transplant (helping to save the life of a young Russian man), and grieved quietly. After the accidental killing of Rachel Corrie, by contrast, her parents embarked on a major publicity campaign. They traveled to Ramallah to accept a plaque from Yasser Arafat on behalf of their daughter. They circulated her emails and diary-entries to a world media eager to publicize them.
Among those who published extracts from them in 2003 was the influential British leftist daily The Guardian. This in turn inspired a new play, "My Name is Rachel Corrie," which opened this month at the Royal Court Theatre, one of London most prestigious venues. (The New York Times recently described it as "the most important theatre in Europe.")
Partly because of the efforts of Corrie and her fellow activists in the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), the Israeli army was unable to stop the flow of weapons through these tunnels. Those weapons were later used to kill Israeli children in the town of Sderot in southern Israel, and elsewhere.
"Corrie was always a progressive with a conscience . . . she went to work with the International Solidarity Movement in Gaza," wrote Michael Billington in The Guardian last week, without a shred of explanation as to what the ISM actually is. The ISM is routinely described as a "peace group" in the western media. Few make any mention of the ISM's meeting with the British suicide bombers Omar Khan Sharif and Assif Muhammad Hanif, who a few days later blew up Mike's Place, a Tel Aviv pub, killing three and injuring dozens -- including British citizens. Or of the ISM's sheltering in its office of Shadi Sukia, a leading member of Islamic Jihad. Or of the fact that in its mission statement, the ISM said "armed struggle" is a Palestinian "right." "'Israel' is an illegal entity that should not exist," wrote Flo Rosovski, the ISM "media co ordinator," clarifying the ISM's idea of peace.
So British reviewers are left to tell the British public that the play is a "true-life tragedy" in which Corrie's "unselfish goodness shines through" (Evening Standard).
"Corrie was murdered after joining a non violent Palestinian resistance organization," writes Emma Gosnell in the Sunday Telegraph. ("Murdered" is a term that even Corrie's staunchest defenders have hesitated to use up to now.)
Not surprisingly, the play has also been praised on Al Jazeera's website and in the Beirut Daily Star.
In one of the most astonishing comments, Michael Billington, the Guardian's critic, writes of the play: "The danger of right-on propaganda is avoided."
It is ironic to reflect that there have been some real victims of the Intifada called Rachel -- and it is hard to believe that these critics have ever heard of them. All these other Rachels died within a few months of Corrie, but -- unlike her -- in circumstances that weren't disputed. They were deliberately murdered: Rachel Levy (17, blown up in a grocery store), Rachel Levi (19, shot while waiting for the bus), Rachel Gavish (killed with her husband, son and father while at home celebrating a Passover meal), Rachel Charhi (blown up while sitting in a Tel Aviv cafe, leaving three young children), Rachel Shabo murdered with her three sons aged 5, 13 and
16 while at home).
Rachel Corrie's death was undoubtedly tragic. But ultimately this play isn't really about Corrie, but about fomenting hatred of Israel. The production is now sold out and there is talk of it being staged in America. The Royal Court is also rushing out a printed edition of the play to give to schools ("Jewish World Review," April 26, 2005).
At Bankstown Town Hall last month, just three kilometres from the scene of one of the most horrific of the gang rapes of 2000, a young and popular Lebanese Muslim sheik told a packed audience that rape victims have "no one to blame but themselves". These are the words of Sheik Faiz Mohamad, 34, to more than 1000 people squeezed into the hall on March 18, as recorded digitally by a concerned citizen. "A victim of rape every minute somewhere in the world. Why? No one to blame but herself. She displayed her beauty to the entire world. She degraded herself by being an object of sexual desire and thus becoming vulnerable to man who looks at her for gratification of his sexual urge."
There was much more about women's responsibilities and the sins of the "kaffir" (infidel) that night from the charismatic former boxer and Liverpool Global Islamic Youth Centre teacher. But there was nothing about the responsibility of men to exercise self-restraint, even though most of the audience was male..... "Strapless, backless, sleeveless, nothing but satanic skirts, slit skirts, translucent blouses, miniskirts, tight jeans," he shouted into the microphone. "All this to tease man and appeal to his carnal nature."
Faiz's view that unveiled women invite rape does Muslims a disservice by promoting an image which is repugnant to the majority of his fellow citizens. After all, when a judge feels so strongly that he would stand in front of a group of strangers, as one did in recent weeks, and make the comment that Lebanese Muslim men are a "cancer", you know the community has an image problem which Faiz isn't helping.
Faiz may not care but his words are a slap in the face to the brave young woman, known to the courts as Miss C, who was raped 25 times by 14 men over six hours outside the Bankstown Trotting Club and elsewhere in 2000. At worst, his words sanction the kind of contempt for non-Muslim women that led those gang rapists to regard 18-year-old Miss C, dressed in her best suit for a job interview, sitting on a train reading The Great Gatsby, as an "Aussie pig" and slut.
It probably wouldn't fly too well if the mayor of our nation's largest city appointed, to a panel responsible for enforcing anti-discrimination laws, a member of a militant, white supremacist group ideologically sympathetic to the notion that our country should return -- by any means necessary -- to the days of Jim Crow. Surely political leaders and civil rights activists from coast to coast would clamber to find microphones and news cameras
before which they could righteously thunder their disapproval of such an appointment; undoubtedly the national media would be all over such a story. It seems, however, that organizations composed of nonwhite, "politically correct" bigots do not ignite a similar passion in the breasts of our society's masters of moral preening. What else could explain the dearth of attention given to New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's recent appointment of Omar Mohammedi, general counsel to the New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), to his city's Human Rights Commission?
As Middle East scholar Daniel Pipes points out, the Washington-based CAIR, founded in 1994, "presents itself as just another civil-rights group" - cultivating an image of moderation that enables it to garner "sizable donations, invitations to the White House, respectful media citations, and a serious hearing by corporations." The organization's goal, CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper says benignly, is to promote "interest and understanding among the general public with regards to Islam and Muslims in North America."
But the reality is something not nearly so benevolent, and Americans ought to become aware of it. CAIR is a direct outgrowth of the Islamic Association of Palestine (IAP). According to Oliver Revell, the FBI's former associate director of Counter-Intelligence Operations, the IAP "is an organization that has directly supported [the Palestinian terror group] Hamas' military goals. It is a front organization for Hamas that engages in propaganda for Islamic militants. It has produced videotapes that are very hate-filled, full of vehement propaganda." Such roots can hardly be considered "moderate," and as we examine CAIR more closely, what we see only gets uglier.
CAIR's founder and executive director, Nihad Awad, was the IAP's public relations director with a long history of extremism. Awad openly praised Iran's notorious Ayatollah Khomeini. He blasted the trial and conviction of the 1993 World Trade Center bombers - against whom the evidence of guilt was overwhelming - as "a travesty of justice." At a 1994 Barry University forum, he candidly stated, "I am in support of the Hamas movement."
The IAP's current president, Rafeeq Jaber, was a founding director of CAIR. Mohammed Nimer, who directs CAIR's Research Center, was on the board of the United Association for Studies and Research, which is the strategic arm of Hamas in the US and was founded by Hamas operative Mousa Abu Marzook. The aforementioned Ibrahim Hooper, CAIR's Director of Communications, also worked for the IAP. To this day, he refuses to publicly denounce Osama bin Laden. He euphemistically ascribed the 1998 bombings of two American embassies in Africa to a "misunderstanding of both sides." He dismisses the Sudanese Islamic government's enslavement and torture of millions of black Christians and animists during the past two decades -- to say nothing of its slaughter of some two million more -- as mere "inter-tribal hostage-taking." He makes no secret of his desire to see America one day become a Muslim country. "I wouldn't want to create the impression that I wouldn't like the government of the United States to be Islamic sometime in the future," he told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "But I'm not going to do anything violent to promote that. I'm going to do it through education."
Such sentiments echo those of CAIR chairman Omar M. Ahmad, who in July 1998 told a crowd of California Muslims, "Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Koran . . . should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on earth." In a similar vein, CAIR board member Imam Siraj Wahaj calls for replacing the American government with a caliphate, and warns that America will crumble unless it "accepts the Islamic agenda." Wahaj, it should be noted, served as a character witness for Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman, the Muslim cleric convicted for his role in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing; the same cleric who was busy devising plans to blow up American landmarks, buildings, and bridges; the same cleric whose conviction CAIR called a "hate crime" against Muslims. And even though Wahaj was listed as an un-indicted co-conspirator in Rahman's case, CAIR now permits him to sit on its advisory
board, deeming him "one of the most respected Muslim leaders in America."
CAIR has been the mouthpiece of some of the vilest anti-Semitism imaginable. For example, the organization co-sponsored a 1998 Brooklyn College rally at which a militant Egyptian Islamist led the attendees in chanting, "No to the Jews, descendents of the apes." Hussam Ayloush, who heads CAIR's Los Angeles office, contemptuously refers to Israelis as "Zionazis."
Over the years, a good portion of CAIR's funding came from a group called the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF). Yet when President Bush closed the HLF in December 2001 upon learning that it was raising money to support Hamas terror attacks, CAIR reacted with its characteristic petulance and indifference to American interests. Calling Bush's move "unjust" and "disturbing," the group circulated a petition exhorting the government to unfreeze HLF assets -- charging that "there has been a shift from a war on terrorism to an attack on Islam."
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. It was two days after she appeared on "Nightline" talking about her fight to change her mosque that the death threats began. The first call came on her cell phone. The caller left a message, in Urdu: "If you want to stay alive, keep your mouth shut." Otherwise, he said, he would "slaughter" her, halal style, saying a prayer as he slid a knife across her throat. If she didn't shut up, he'd slaughter her mother and her father, too. Think before you speak, he said. I know where you live. I know where your parents live.
Then he called her parents' home 10 minutes later. Just to reinforce the message.
It's not a message that Asra Nomani, Muslim, unwed mother, former Wall Street Journal reporter, author and left-leaning feminist, is planning to heed (although she did contact the FBI and her local police). Yes, she's started locking her doors now, a rarity for her here in her hilly home town. But she won't be shutting up, definitely not, never.
There are those who see Nomani, a self described "overambitious child of immigrants," as a crusader, an activist lobbying for the right of Muslim women to pray side by side with men. This spring she launched the Muslim Women's Freedom Tour, traveling from city to city (including a stop in April at the Islamic Center of Washington on Massachusetts Avenue NW) to encourage Muslim women to assert themselves in their mosques. "She's like a troublemaker," says Gamal Fahmy, 31, a British-born, Egyptian-raised assistant professor at West Virginia University and a mosque member who once clashed with Nomani and her father in a study session. "I don't think she's that religious, she's that zealous about Islam and being a Muslim," he says. "Bottom line, I believe she's doing this for profit reasons" (Teresa Wiltz,

Banda Aceh, Waspada -- The Indonesian president has released a decree
(Kepres) that forbids evangelism in Aceh and asked [mission organizations]
to stop their evangelism activities in Aceh.
"The evangelism has been a national issue. The problem have been discussed
[on the] national level and the president has issue a decree to forbid
evangelism in Aceh,' " [Muslim leader] Muslim Ibrahin told "Waspada Daily"
on Wednesday.
Muslim said the government will cease [mission operations] in Aceh if they
are involved in evangelism in Aceh and their workers visas will be ended and
they have to leave Aceh.
Following the decree, [a Muslim group] has asked police and local government
to run an investigation and find evidence on any reports on evangelism
submitted by people in Aceh. O¹The police have to become more pro-active in
managing this issues," said Muslim.
Among them is World Vision. In the meeting, they promised not to run
evangelism activities AND WILL HELP REPORT ANY EVANGELISM CASES.
Last week, hundreds of students from Syiah Kuala University marched and
staged protest in front of Aceh Governor office in Banda Aceh. They asked
the government to expel [missions] that provide humanitarian help to cover
evangelism activities.

I take no pleasure in saying it. It pains me to think it. I could very well lose my job in talk radio over admitting it. But it is the plain truth:
Islam is a terror organization.
For years, I've been trying to give the world's Muslim community the benefit of the doubt, along with the benefit of my typical-American's complete disinterest in their faith. Before 9/11, I knew nothing about Islam except the greeting "asalaam alaikum," taught to me by a Pakistani friend in Chicago.
Immediately after 9/11, I nodded in ignorant agreement as President Bush assured me that "Islam is a religion of peace."
But nearly four years later, nobody can defend that statement. And I mean "nobody."
Certainly not the group of "moderate" Muslim clerics and imams who gathered in London last week to issue a statement on terrorism and their faith. When asked the question "Are suicide bombings always a violation of Islam," they could not answer "Yes. Always." Instead, these "moderate British Muslims" had to answer "It depends."
And the reason Islam has itself become a terrorist organization is that it cannot address its own role in this violence. It cannot cast out the murderers from its members. I know it can't, because "moderate" Muslim imams keep telling me they can't. "We have no control over these radical young men," one London imam moaned to the local papers.
Can't kick 'em out of your faith? Can't excommunicate them? Apparently Islam does not allow it.
Today, Islam has entire sects and grand mosques that preach terror. Its theology is used as a source of inspiration by terrorist murderers. Millions of Islam's members give these killers support and comfort.
The question isn't how dare I call Islam a terrorist organization, but rather why more people do not (Graham, http://www.JewishWorldReview.com, July 28, 2005).
Jakarta (AsiaNews, 9/7/05) -- Three women charged with violating Indonesia's 2002 Child Protection Act by trying to convert Muslim children were found guilty on all charges in an Indonesian court and sentenced to three years in jail. The verdict against Rebecca Loanita, Etty Pangesti, and Ratna Mala Bangun was pronounced on September 1 after four months of trial during which Muslim extremists tried to intimidate and influence the judges.
The charges against the three women were brought by the so-called Indonesian Council of Mullahs which claimed they tried to convert Muslim children at a Happy Weekend event.
The three women had organized a week-end of songs, games and outings for Christian children alone, an element that their attorneys had stressed but that the court in Indramavu (West Java) chose to disregard it on the grounds that non-Christian children were present.
Muslim extremists were present at the trial hearings where they tried to intimidate the judges. The women's attorneys said that the decision was influenced by the constant threats and not any legal merit the case might have had. No Muslim child was converted and none was forced to attend.
What is more, the extremists released a statement to the press calling on the court to impose the death penalty on the women. Eyewitnesses present at the sentence hearing said that the same extremists arrived carrying a casket shouting that they would bury the three women if they were not found guilty.
After the decision was read and sentence passed, the crowd in the courthouse broke out in shouts of "Allahu akbar" (God is greater).

MUNICH, Germany -- North of this prosperous city of engineers and auto makers is an elegant mosque with a slender minaret and a turquoise dome. A stand of pines shields it from a busy street. In a country of more than
three million Muslims, it looks unremarkable, another place of prayer for Europe's fastest-growing religion.
The Mosque's history, however, tells a more tumultuous story. Buried in government and private archives are hundreds of documents that trace the battle to control the Islamic Center of Munich. Never before made public,
the material shows how radical Islam established one of its first and most important beachheads in the West when a group of ex-Nazi soldiers decided to build a mosque.
The soldiers' presence in Munich was part of a nearly forgotten subplot to World War II: the decision by tens of thousands of Muslims in the Soviet Red Army to switch sides and fight for Hitler. After the war, thousands sought refuge in West Germany, building one of the largest Muslim communities in 1950s Europe. When the Cold War heated up, they were a coveted prize for their language skills and contacts back in the Soviet Union. For more than a decade, U.S., West German, Soviet and British intelligence agencies vied for control of them in the new battle of democracy versus communism.
Yet the victor wasn't any of these Cold War combatants. Instead, it was a movement with an equally powerful ideology: the Muslim Brotherhood. Founded in 1920s Egypt as a social-reform movement, the Brotherhood became the fountainhead of political Islam, which calls for the Muslim religion to dominate all aspects of life. A powerful force for political change throughout the Muslim world, the Brotherhood also inspired some of the deadliest terrorist movements of the past quarter century, including Hamas and al Qaeda.
The story of how the Brotherhood exported its creed to the heart of Europe highlights a recurring error by Western democracies. For decades, countries have tried to cut deals with political Islam -- backing it in order to defeat another enemy, especially communism. Most famously, the U.S. and its allies built up mujahadeen holy warriors in 1980s Afghanistan to fight the Soviet Union -- paving the way for the rise of Osama bin Laden, who quickly turned on his U.S. allies in the 1990s.
Munich was a momentous early example of this dubious strategy. Documents and interviews show how the Muslim Brotherhood formed a working arrangement with U.S. intelligence organizations, outmaneuvering German agencies for control of the former Nazi soldiers and their mosque. But the U.S. lost its hold on the movement, and in short order conservative, arch-Catholic Bavaria had become host to a center of radical Islam.
Political and social groups affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood now dominate organized Islamic life across a broad swath of Western Europe. These connections are frequently little known, even by the intelligence services and police agencies of these countries (Johnson, "The Wall Street Journal," July 12, 2005, A1).
Last Nov. 2 Theo van Gogh, Dutch filmmaker and descendant of the painter, was cycling through Amsterdam. He was accosted by Mohammed Bouyeri, who shot him six times as van Gogh pleaded, "We can still talk about it! Don't do it!" Bouyeri then cut his throat with a kitchen knife, practically severing his head. Bouyeri was not done. He then took a five-page Islamist manifesto and with his knife impaled it on van Gogh's chest.
On trial now in the Netherlands, Bouyeri is unrepentant. In court he turned to van Gogh's grieving mother and with infinite cruelty said to her, "I do not feel your pain."
He feels instead glory. Van Gogh had made a short film about the oppression of Muslim women. Bouyeri was acting "purely in the name of my religion," championing his faith by butchering a filmmaker critical of it.
Bouyeri is no newly arrived immigrant. Nor is he, like the Sept. 11 hijackers, a cosmopolitan terrorist sent abroad to kill. He was born and bred in Holland. Likewise, three of the four London bombers were second-generation Pakistani Brits.
The most remarkable discovery is that Europe's second- and third-generation Muslim immigrants are more radicalized than the first. One reasonably non-political and non-radical Muslim activist, raised in the suburbs of Paris, explained himself (to the Wall Street Journal) as having "immigrated to France at the local maternity ward."
The fact that native-born Muslim Europeans are committing terrorist acts in their own countries shows that this Islamist malignancy long predates Iraq, long predates Afghanistan and long predates Sept. 11, 2001. What Europe had incubated is an enemy within, a threat that for decades Europe simply refused to face (Krauthammer, "JewishWorldReview," 7/15/05).
LONDON, July 9 - Long before bombings ripped through London on Thursday, Britain had become a breeding ground for hate, fed by a militant version of Islam.
For two years, extremists like Sheik Omar Bakri Mohammed, a 47-year-old Syrian-born cleric, have played to ever-larger crowds, calling for holy war against Britain and exhorting young Muslim men to join the insurgency in Iraq. In a newspaper interview in April 2004, he warned that "a very well-organized" London-based group, Al Qaeda Europe, was "on the verge of launching a big operation" here.
In a sermon attended by more than 500 people in a central London meeting hall last December, Sheik Omar vowed that if Western governments did not change their policies, Muslims would give them "a 9/11, day after day after day."
If London became a magnet for fiery preachers, it also became a destination for men willing to carry out their threats. For a decade, the city has been a crossroads for would-be terrorists who used it as a home base, where they could raise money, recruit members and draw inspiration from the militant messages.
Among them were terrorists involved in attacks in Madrid, Casablanca, Saudi Arabia, Israel and in the Sept. 11 plot. Zacarias Moussaoui, the only man charged in the United States in the 9/11 attacks, and Richard C. Reid, the convicted shoe-bomber, both prayed at the Finsbury Park mosque in north London. The mosque's former leader, Abu Hamza al-Masri openly preached violence for years before the authorities arrested him in April 2004.
For years, there was a widely held belief that Britain's tolerance helped stave off any Islamic attacks at home. But the anger of London's militant clerics turned on Britain after it offered unwavering support for the American-led invasion of Iraq. On Thursday morning, an attack long foreseen by worried counterterrorism officials became a reality.
"The terrorists have come home," said a senior intelligence official based in Europe, who works often with British officials. "It is payback time for a policy that was, in my opinion, an irresponsible policy of the British government to allow these networks to flourish inside Britain" (Sciolino and Van Natta, "The New York Times," July 10, 2005).
Over the past five years, a distorted and hostile attitude toward Israel has prevailed at the University of California-Santa Cruz, creating an intimidating environment for members of the campus community, particularly Jewish students. Much of the anti-Israeli bias has been generated by the
university's predominantly leftist faculty members, who have injected their personal ideology into course curricula, classroom lectures and discussions, and events and speakers sponsored by departments, research groups, and colleges.
UCSC is home to a great deal of virulent anti-Israeli rhetoric, which creates an intimidating environment for many Jews on campus. Although such hostility can be found at many other universities, what is unique at UCSC is that the animus is not directed by the usual sources, such as well-funded Muslim student groups or faculty in a Middle East studies program. In fact, the UCSC Muslim Student Alliance is not very active; nor are other pro-Palestinian/anti-Israeli student groups such as the Committee for Justice in Palestine. And while there is a Jewish studies program, there is none for Middle East studies, and no known Arab/Muslim funding of university faculty or activities. Instead, at UCSC the anti-Israeli sentiment is primarily generated by a leftist faculty scattered throughout the university's academic units.
Twenty-two of the university's faculty members, including two department heads and a divisional dean, have signed the UC divestment petition, which calls on the U.S. government to cut off military aid to Israel and demands that the University of California divest from Israel and from all U.S. companies that sell military equipment to it. Nine faculty members have signed an open letter from American Jews urging the United States to end all aid to Israel, and four have signed a petition to boycott Israeli academics and research. . . .
Moreover, there has been a significant rise in activities that spill over into various forms of hate-speech demonizing both Israelis and Jews. Recent rallies and public lectures sponsored by student organizations and academic units have routinely pilloried Israel as "colonialist," "racist," "imperialist," and even "Nazi." Examples include: Imam Abdul Malik, invited to speak at UCSC by the Muslim Student Association and the local community group headed by former mayor Kennedy, publicly accused Jews of perpetrating the 9/11 attack.
Hedy Epstein, an eighty-year-old Holocaust survivor and member of the International Solidarity Movement speaking at the invitation of the Women's Studies Department at UCSC, compared Israel to a Nazi state and Israeli soldiers to Nazis.
A panel discussion, in which ancient anti Semitic blood libel accusations about supposed Israeli atrocities went unchallenged by any of the panelists, was cosponsored by ten different research groups, departments, and colleges on campus (Beckwith,

Media reports indicate the attack, which killed 17 and injured 9, was the work of insurgent bombers, whose first two explosions first breached a wall in the hotel's perimeter. They then drove a third vehicle in to the hotel, which was detonated. The Palestine Hotel houses a number of foreign media personnel, some of whom recorded and subsequently broadcast images of the blasts.
"When I heard the first explosion I went up to the roof of my house to see the location," says Basim Fargo, secretary of the Adventist Church in Iraq. "While I was looking at the smoke, I heard the sound of the second explosion. After two minutes I heard the third and biggest explosion with lots of smoke everywhere."
The Adventist church building suffered internal and external damage. Plywood sheets, which had been temporarily covering the shattered stained-glass windows from previous bomb concussions, were blown off. Inside the church, a large window, running the full width of the parents' room, were shattered.
"But, we have the trust and the confidence that God is guarding His people in these difficult times," says Fargo.
Mike Porter, president of the Adventist Church in the Middle East, wrote a message of support to the members in Iraq: "We are sorry to hear that the church has been damaged yet another time. It must be so difficult living with such uncertainty all the time. We are praying that, somehow, the country will soon move ahead."
The Seventh-day Adventist Church has had a presence in Iraq since 1923, and has congregations in several Iraqi cities.

Jakarta - Three beheaded schoolgirls were found Saturday in the eastern Indonesian province of Central Sulawesi, a region torn by sectarian conflict, while three others were seriously wounded.
Two of the severed heads were found near a police post, while the third was discovered outside a Christian church in Poso, about 1,650 kilometres northwest of Jakarta.

Religious violence in Indonesia, which has created a mass of refugees in the region since January 1999, is again worsening, says Pastor Reinhold Kesaulya, president of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in east Indonesia.
Kesaulya cites action by Muslim militants as well as the failure of local and national officials to stop the sectarian violence as the main causes of the rapidly deteriorating situation, which has left an estimated 3,000 Christians dead and thousands more homeless.
Kesaulya reports that at least 15 Adventists have been killed in the violence and 12 churches have been burned, along with 55 homes of church members. "[Adventists] can no longer stay in their villages," says Kesaulya. "They have to go to stay in the jungle" or try to leave the region for the safer province of Manado.
Almost every aspect of the Adventist Church work in the region is under siege, says Kesaulya. Fighting near Maluku Academy in Ambon, which until recently was considered a safe haven, has forced the school to close and its teachers and students have all fled, he says.
"Only the members that live quite near their church are able to come to services," says Kesaulya, and due to safety concerns, "no meetings can be held in the evenings." He adds that the church's publishing department has been decimated by the fact that colporteurs, or book-sellers, can no longer visit houses to sell books.
The safety of church workers and members can no longer be guaranteed in Ambon or Central Sulawesi, says Kesaulya, and many pastors have been relocated. He says that the Adventist Church president in Maluku is staying in Ambon to minister to the remaining church members in the area, although his wife has been evacuated.
Street fighting and night attacks on the homes of Christians continue, while sniper fire in the streets has become another security problem in recent months. "No one knows where these people are getting their weapons," says Kesaulya, who notes that the number of machine guns being used is increasing.
Kesaulya says that church leaders are trying to keep the churches running as normally as possible under the circumstances. But finances are stretched with virtually no tithe or offerings coming in from the troubled regions. There is also the added financial strain of evacuating church workers and providing basic food and shelter for some 1,000 Adventist refugees who have congregated near the church headquarters in Manado, Sulawesi Utara. Manado is "about the only area left untouched" by the violence, says Kesaulya.
Looking ahead, Kesaulya believes that the long-term resettlement of refugees is one of the most pressing problems facing church leaders in the region. He is hoping that land in Manado can be obtained where church members can begin growing crops to support themselves, but says that even if this is possible, the church members in Manado will have to continue supporting the refugees with necessities for at least four months until the crops mature. Kesaulya, who has taken ten refugees into his own home, says that many Adventists in Manado are involved in helping to care for those of other Christian churches who have fled the violence.
Dr. John Graz, public affairs and religious liberty director for the Seventh-day Adventist Church worldwide, has written to Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid asking the government to renew its efforts to bring "peace and harmony for the good of all citizens, no matter what their religion." Graz has also written about the situation to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on religious intolerance.

November 4, 2005: The riots by Moslems in France continues, with young Moslems in the suburbs of Paris intent on driving the police out and establishing control of their own neighborhoods. At the same time, similar
riots have been taking place in Denmark. In Britain Moslem migrants have been fighting police, and other (non-Moslem) migrants in the streets.
While France is seven percent Moslem, only two percent of Denmark's population is. But Denmark, like the rest of Europe (which has about twenty million Moslems), suffers from the same problems as France. Many of the Moslem migrants, who began to appear in large numbers four decades ago, have not assimilated. Europe has long tolerated this, partly because of a belief in "Multiculturalism" and partly because Europe does not have a tradition of assimilation. This is in stark contrast to the United States, where the "melting pot," while often operating more like a salad bowl, still results in far less ghettoization than is found in Europe. Another advantage America has is that, in many parts of the country, there are so many migrants that "everyone is a minority." In Europe, homogeneity is preferred, and those who do not conform, are simply tolerated (and sometimes not) as "outsiders in residence." That's where the concept of "ghetto" came from in the first place. The ghetto is quite common the world over, but much less so in America.
Many of the Moslem migrants came from poor rural regions in the old country. They migrated for jobs, not to trade their cultural identity for a new one. The children, and grandchildren, of these migrants did not take full advantage of the educational opportunities in their new homelands. The locals were not very accepting either, and the migrants did not have a web of family and community contacts to help the kids get jobs. Unemployment is high. The European governments tried to paper this over with generous welfare and jobless benefits. But this just turned the government into the payroll department for the local branch of al Qaeda.
After September 11, 2001, when European intelligence agencies took a real close look at their Moslem populations, they were shocked at the percentage that approved of, or supported, Islamic terrorism. It was as high as ten percent in some countries. It was higher among the young, and often unemployed, Moslem males. The riots currently underway in France, Denmark and Britain are all an extension of that.

Ever since 9/11, I've been gloomily predicting the European powder keg's about to go up. "'By 2010 we'll be watching burning buildings, street riots and assassinations on the news every night," I wrote in Canada's Western Standard back in February.
Silly me. The Eurabian civil war appears to have started some years ahead of my optimistic schedule. As Thursday's edition of the Guardian reported in London: "French youths fired at police and burned over 300 cars last night as towns around Paris experienced their worst night of violence in a week of urban unrest."
The notion that Texas neo-con arrogance was responsible for frosting up trans-Atlantic relations was always preposterous . . . If you had millions of seething unassimilated Muslim youths in lawless suburbs ringing every major city, would you be so eager to send your troops into an Arab country fighting alongside the Americans? For half a decade, French Arabs have been carrying on a low-level intifada against synagogues, kosher butchers, Jewish schools, etc. Unlike America's Europhiles, France's Arab [population] identified Chirac's opposition to the Iraq war for what it was: a sign of
weakness.
The French have been here before, of course. Seven-thirty-two. Not 7:32 Paris time, which is when the nightly Citroen-torching begins, but 732 AD . . . . are very straightforward: Side A wins, Side B loses. But the French government is way beyond anything so clarifying. Today, a fearless Muslim advance has penetrated far deeper into Europe than Abd al-Rahman. They're in Brussels, where Belgian police officers are advised not to be seen drinking
coffee in public during Ramadan, and in Malmo, where Swedish ambulance drivers will not go without police escort. It's way too late to rerun the Battle of Poitiers. In the no-go suburbs, even before these current riots, 9,000 police cars had been stoned by "French youths" since the beginning of the year; some three dozen cars are set alight even on a quiet night. "There's a civil war under way in Clichy-sous-Bois at the moment," said Michel Thooris of the gendarmes' trade union Action Police CFTC. "We can no longer withstand this situation on our own. My colleagues neither have the equipment nor the practical or theoretical training for street fighting."
A few years back I was criticized for a throwaway observation to the effect that "I find it easier to be optimistic about the futures of Iraq and Pakistan than, say, Holland or Denmark." But this is why. In defiance of traditional immigration patterns, these young men are less assimilated than their grandparents. French cynics like the prime minister, Dominique de Villepin, have spent the last two years scoffing at the Bush Doctrine: Why, everyone knows Islam and democracy are incompatible. If so, that's less a problem for Iraq or Afghanistan than for France and Belgium.
If Chirac isn't exactly Charles Martel, the rioters aren't doing a bad impression of the Muslim armies of 13 centuries ago: They're seizing their opportunities, testing their foe, probing his weak spots. If burning the 'burbs gets you more "respect" from Chirac, they'll burn 'em again, and again. In the current issue of City Journal, Theodore Dalrymple concludes a piece on British suicide bombers with this grim summation of the new Europe: "The sweet dream of universal cultural compatibility has been replaced by the nightmare of permanent conflict." Which sounds an awful lot like a new Dark Ages (Steyn, "Jewish World Review," Nov. 7, 2005).

Police Find Bomb-Making Factory in Paris
AP - Elaine Ganley - 11/06/05 - Police found a gasoline bomb-making factory in a southern suburb of [Paris], with more than 100 bottles, gallons of fuel and hoods for hiding rioters' faces, a senior Justice Ministry official said Sunday.
Six youths, all aged under 18, were arrested in the raid Saturday night on a building in Evry south of Paris where the gasoline bombs were being put together, Jean-Marie Huet, the ministry's director of criminal affairs and pardons, told The Associated Press.
The discovery, Huet said, shows that gasoline bombs being used by rioters "are not being improvised by kids in their bathrooms."...

"This is the beginning of the war!" a French Muslim boy called out in the middle of the riots in Le Blanc Mesnil, just north of Paris.
But is it? Or was the war really going on already?
Few Americans have heard of him, but in Europe, more and more are becoming familiar with the name -- and the ideas -- of Dyab Abou Jahjah, founder of the now-international Arab European League (AEL) and the Muslim Democratic Party. Handsome, charismatic, well-educated, and multilingual, he has the perfect makings of a political leader, or perhaps better said, a man poised to lead a revolution. And he knows it.
More to the point: as the fury of Muslim youth explodes across the landscape of Western Europe, it's time that others know it, too.
The AEL, first founded in Belgium in 2000 -- in other words, before September 2001 -- now has branches in the Netherlands and France, and intends to spread across the E.U., with plans to participate in future European Parliamentary elections as the Muslim Democratic Party. With battle cries like "Whatever Means Necessary" and frequent condemnations of America, Jahjah -- who called the 9/11 attacks "sweet revenge" -- recruits Muslim youth to spread his ideology, a vague series of ideas that occasionally appear moderate, but when added together, call for violent resistance, the destruction of Israel, and the introduction of Sharia (Islamic) law in Europe.
Most recently, Jahjah issued a public statement supporting Iranian president Ahadi Najad's declaration calling for Israel to be wiped off the face of the map. "The foundation of Najad's reasoning is intellectually defendable," he writes in English (the statement in its entirety can be found here) "and despite the fact that his regime is no perfect example of political morality, I argue that his position on this matter is the only possible
moral one." (Ironically, the man slain filmmaker Theo van Gogh once called "a pimp for Allah" continues his rant with mention of a "mythical racial-religious holy promise by some god in some religious book" -- by which, of course, he means the Torah. Despite such statements, Jahjah repeatedly insists he has "nothing against the Jews.")
I've thought a lot about Jahjah the last few days: Jahjah who never condemned the killing of van Gogh by a Dutch Muslim fundamentalist; Jahjah who finds the destruction of Israel "the only possible moral" option; Jahjah who has on several occasions incited riots on the streets of Antwerp and now defends the ongoing rioting of Muslim youth outside of Paris. I've thought of Jahjah as Muslim youths riot, too, in Arhus, Denmark, presumably in protest against the publication in a national newspaper of a cartoon drawing of Mohammed.
I've though of Jahjah in all of this because his influence on European Muslim youth -- men and women ages 18-30, mostly -- has been significant enough that the Dutch intelligence service traces the rise of Muslim anti-Semitism and extremism in the Netherlands in no small measure straight back to the AEL.
And I think of this fact every day lately as I walk the streets of my mostly-Muslim neighborhood: because suddenly, now, as an American Jew, if I normally wore a star of David or a chai around my neck, after Jahjah's declaration I would be too frightened to be seen with it on the street.
This is what is going on outside of Paris and in Arhus, in Brussels and Berlin, even as I write. This is what goes on when the AEL holds meetings < closed to non-Muslims -- in Rotterdam or Brussels, stirring whatever vulnerability, whatever latent anger (and what adolescent boy hasn't some of that? Then multiply it by poverty and alienation and see what happens) he can touch in the hearts of his audiences. Individual by individual, they become a group: they find the identity, the unity, the belonging that they crave, within that group: they become an "us," and the rest of us, of course, are "them."
This, too, is how it worked in Clichy: there was nothing spontaneous about these eruptions, officials announced after a week of ongoing chaos, a week of arson and shattered windows and a woman set on fire. "It was a good excuse," one 15-year-old boy in Clichy-sous-Bois told the New York Times, "but it's fun to set cars on fire." In Arhus, demonstrators said they'd been planning their uprising for weeks -- possibly, that is, even before the paper published the cartoons. (That a group of suspected Danish-Muslim terrorists were arrested in Denmark at around that time may or may not be relevant.) And though Abou Jahjah does not appear to be a part of the French or Danish fury as he was three years ago in Antwerp, he supports it.
There is, however, another side of this story. Recently, reporters from the Dutch newspaper de Trouw interviewed Faysal Ramsis, one of several young men who have taken on the task of turning their compatriots away from the radicalization that has here become so chic, so ultimately cool. The son of Moroccan immigrants, Faysal was forbidden to attend the mosque as a child
because, as he told the Trouw, his parents feared he'd be "indoctrinated."
"Whether you go to a traditional Moroccan mosque, with a barely educated imam, or a radical, activist mosque, it makes no difference," they told him. "In the one case they keep you dumb; in the other, they make you aggressive."
Only later, while trying to understand the conflicts between the Dutch natives and Holland's Muslim population, did he begin visiting mosques to discover for himself what actually went on there. And what "went on," he told the Trouw, was, indeed, indoctrination: That Satan would creep under your fingernails if you didn't cut them, that women should be repressed, and animosity toward "unbelievers." A court sentenced a teacher to 40 months in prison and 750 lashes for "mocking religion" after he discussed the Bible and praised Jews, a Saudi newspaper reported yesterday.
Al-Madina newspaper said secondary-school teacher Mohammad al-Harbi, who will be flogged in public, was taken to court by his colleagues and students.
He was charged with promoting a "dubious ideology, mocking religion, saying the Jews were right, discussing the Gospel and preventing students from leaving class to wash for prayer," the newspaper said.
Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of Islam, strictly upholds the austere Wahhabi school of Islam and bases its constitution on the Koran and the sayings of the prophet Muhammad. Public practice of any other religion is banned.

Not one person in all of my conversations has attempted to relieve my concerns about the reality of what is just in front of us. Any day we can wake up to a sudden and unexpected surprise. Unexpected because of ignorance regarding the days in which we live.
Yes, it takes two to tango, but only one to set off multiple explosions in different cities at the same time. As multitudes keep preaching tolerance and peace and safety, the ground work has already been laid to destroy major cities in the world. I guess that means that our way will soon be hedged up and the work we could have done in a period of peace and prosperity will have to be done under much more forbidding circumstances.
The devil has been very successful in his plans and he has both sides of the street covered. We must take great care to be not found fighting against the truth as we labor against a lie. The line between truth and error is becoming very fine.
Not only will terrorists have nuclear weapons, but they will be able to deliver them in ways that will make it impossible to defend our cities.

French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin - whose name may one day be as synonymous with appeasement as Petain's is with collaboration -- would like to make a deal.
His problem is finding Muslim "community leaders" who can stop the rioting. In communities where law and order are absent, it is thugs with guns who are in charge, not the voices of moderation, such as they are.
The remarkable thing about the spark that set off the rioting is that there were no police in Clichy sus Bois for the youths to flee from. About ten percent of France's population are Muslims. The overwhelming majority live in concrete ghettoes like Clichy sus Bois, which the police as well as ordinary Frenchmen tend to treat as "no go" areas.
The result is these ghettoes are largely under the control of criminal gangs and religious extremists.
The discovery of a large Molotov cocktail factory in a southern suburb not far from Clichy sus Bois suggests the violence is not spontaneous.
But if it is jobs the rioters are after, it must be as automobile workers, because the principal tactic of the rioters has been to torch cars, along with nursery schools and the occasional police station.
Most of the rioters are petty criminals. But others seek de jure recognition of a de facto partition of France that's been under way for some time.
"Some are even calling for areas where Muslims form a majority of the population to be reorganized on the basis of the millet system of the Ottoman Empire," wrote Amir Taheri, who lives in Paris. "Each religious community (millet) would enjoy the right to organize its social, cultural and educational life in accordance with its religious beliefs."
A de facto millet system already is in place in parts of France, Taheri noted: "In these areas, all women are obliged to wear the standardized Islamist hijab while most men grow their beards to the lengths prescribed by the sheiks."
It seems inconceivable that a civilized Western nation would bargain away to a handful of thugs its democratic principles and sovereignty over much of its territory. But the Islamists may well succeed. For though what the Islamists believe in is vile and reactionary, it is something. The French
believe in nothing.

British banks are banning piggy banks because they may offend some Muslims.
Halifax and NatWest banks have led the move to scrap the time-honoured symbol of saving from being given to children or used in their advertising, the Daily Express/Daily Star group reports here.
Muslims do not eat pork, as Islamic culture deems the pig to be an impure animal.
Salim Mulla, secretary of the Lancashire Council of Mosques, backed the bank move.
"This is a sensitive issue and I think the banks are simply being courteous to their customers," he said.
However, the move brought accusations of political correctness gone mad from critics.
"The next thing we will be banning Christmas trees and cribs and the logical result of that process is a bland uniformity," the Dean of Blackburn, Reverend Christopher Armstrong, said.
"We should learn to celebrate our differences, not be fearful of them."
Khalid Mahmoud, the Labour MP for a Birmingham seat and one of four Muslim MPs in Britain, also criticised the piggy-bank ban.

"We live in a multicultural society and the traditions and symbols of one community should not be obliterated just to accommodate another," Mr Mahmoud said.

Western diplomats have already been forced to abandon their missions in the Gaza Strip after reports of gunmen searching hotels for Europeans, declaring them legitimate targets. The Danish Red Cross has pulled out workers from Yemen and Gaza City after they received death threats.
Protests also took place in Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation, when around 150 members of the Islamic Defenders Front tried to storm the Danish Embassy in Jakarta after pelting the building with eggs. In Ramadan 2004, the 27th issue of Sawt Al Jihad, an internet journal affiliated with Al Qaeda in Saudi Arabia, included articles devoted to jihad during Ramadan. The opening editorial stated: "Muslims! Go out to [fight] Jihad for the sake of Allah! Paradise has already flung open its gates and the virgins of paradise are already decked out in anticipation of their grooms.... You should at the very least pray for your brothers the Jihad fighters, who gave their lives...in revenge for the pride of the Muslim nation that was wounded by the cross bearers and...Jews."
In reference to bombings in Taba, Egypt, that killed 32 Israelis, he explained: "We pray for the Jihad fighters [who]...attacked a hotel in which Jews were gathered and killed dozens of them as an offering to Allah before Ramadan. We ask of Allah that he not deny them [their] reward..." He concluded by stating: "This month of Jihad has come with all its blessings.... Come closer to Allah through the blood of infidels, do not relent in spilling [their blood], and through [this blood] wipe out humiliation and disgrace from among your Muslim nation! Make this month like the month of the Battle of Badr, the conquest of Mecca, [the conquest] of Shaqhab, and other Islamic victories. We ask Allah to turn this Ramadan into a month of glory, victory, and might, to hoist high in [this month] the

I've written about dhimmitude periodically, lo, these many years since Sept. 11, but it takes time to sink in. Dhimmitude is the coinage of a brilliant historian, Bat Ye'or, whose pioneering studies of the dhimmi, populations of Jews and Christians vanquished by Islamic jihad, have led her to conclude that a common culture has existed through the centuries among the varied dhimmi populations. From Egypt and Palestine to Iraq and Syria, from Morocco and Algeria to Spain, Sicily and Greece, from Armenia and the Balkans to the Caucasus: Wherever Islam conquered, surrendering dhimmi, known to Muslims as "people of the book (the Bible)," were tolerated, allowed to practice their religion, but at a dehumanizing cost.
There were literal taxes (jizya) to be paid; these bought the dhimmi the right to remain non-Muslim, the price not of religious freedom, but of religious identity. Freedom was lost, sorely circumscribed by a body of Islamic law (sharia) designed to subjugate, denigrate and humiliate the dhimmi. The resulting culture of self-abnegation, self-censorship and fear shared by far-flung dhimmi is the basis of dhimmitude. The extremely distressing, but highly significant fact is, dhimmitude doesn't only exist in lands where Islamic law rules.
This is the lesson of Cartoon Rage 2006, a cultural nuke set off by an Islamic chain reaction to those 12 cartoons of Mohammed appearing in a Danish newspaper. We have watched the Muslim meltdown with shocked attention, but there is little recognition that its poisonous fallout is fear. Fear in the State Department, which, like Islam, called the cartoons unacceptable. Fear in Whitehall (where British government offices reside), which did the same. Fear in the Vatican, which did the same. And fear in the media, which have failed, with few, few exceptions, to reprint or show the images. With only a small roll of brave journals, mainly in Europe, to salute, we have seen the proud Western tradition of a free press bow its head and submit to an Islamic law against depictions of Mohammed. That's dhimmitude.
How far does it go? Worth noting, for example, is that on the BBC Web site, a religion page about Islam presents the angels and revelations of Islamic belief as historical fact, rather than spiritual conjecture (as is the case with its Christianity Web page); plus, it follows every mention of Mohammed with "(pbuh)," which means "peace be upon him" -- "as if," writes Will Wyatt, former BBC chief executive, in a letter to the Times of London, "the corporation itself were Muslim."
The publication of the Mohammed cartoons solicited by Denmark's Jyllands Posten was an act of anti-dhimmitude. Since no Danish artist would dare illustrate a PC children's book about Mohammed for fear of Islamic law (and Islamic violence), the newspaper boldly set out to reassert the rule of (non-Islamic) Danish law. It's as simple as that.

Here is what is really going on in the Muslim religion. It is not the only religion that is violent in regards to those who disagree with them. History reveals others who follow in the same path.

Beginning with the Revolutionary War when British agents and sympathizers attempted to derail independence, there have been people who have tried to infiltrate the United States for the purpose of undermining and destroying it.
Now comes what may be the greatest threat: radical Islam, whose "agents" may have established a base more solid and more dangerous than anything we've encountered before. The good news is they speak openly of their intentions. The bad news is that many of us are not taking them seriously.
[A]t the beginning of the London trial of radical imam Abu Hamza al-Masri, evidence was presented detailing how he encouraged his followers at the Finsbury Park mosque to kill non-Muslims.
In lectures, recordings and writings, the imam said Adolf Hitler had been sent into the world to punish the Jews. Repeatedly, said the prosecutor, Abu Hamza told his followers they must fight for Allah and such fighting involves a religious mandate to murder Jews, kuffars (nonbelievers in Islam) and "apostates," such as leaders of Arab nations like Egypt. Abu Hamza has pleaded innocent to all 15 charges, including nine counts of solicitation of murder, four counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behavior intended to incite racial hatred and two counts related to the possession of offensive sound recordings and possession of a copy of the Encyclopedia of the Afghani Jihad.
Prosecutors introduced as evidence a 10 volume "blueprint for terrorism" they say was discovered in Abu Hamza's house. Among the targets for "causing disturbance but not loss of life" are Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty. Chapter headings include "The need to study the principles of war," and "The duty of assassination and kidnap."
Other subheadings offer advice on reconnaissance, infiltration, ambush and how to manufacture explosive devices, open locks and train assassins. One section details plans to hit buildings with large populations, including museums, ports and archaeological sites and to attack VIPs. David Perry, prosecuting counsel, told the court, "This is a manual, a blueprint for terrorism."
Perry said the document's "execution section" recommends that Islamic agents be sent to any country intended as a target at least 10 years before jihad begins. This was the profile of terrorists depicted in last season's "24" series on Fox. In this fictional story, terrorist cells were established in a middle-class American neighborhood where they remained dormant and appeared peaceful until a signal was given to conduct mayhem.
On one tape, Abu Hamza discusses the killing of tourists in Egypt in November 1997, describing them as satanic. He says the tourist industry should be "Islamicised" and added that while children should not be deliberately killed, their killing is permitted if they are in the target area.
[P]olitical leaders repeat the bromide that Islam is a "peaceful religion" and radicals are trying to hijack it. Are we being infiltrated by people who, on the outside, pretend to be peaceful and tolerant, but inside wish to undermine and overthrow our government?

In a discussion on Muslim population statistics, which includes a chart projecting that the world Muslim population will outgrow the Christian population by 2025, it is noted that Islam is growing nearly 3 percent per year, faster than the total growth in world population. While the ratio of older to younger people is weighted to the older in the West, the reverse is true among Muslims.

There are Muslims in the world who do not hold to their religion as it appears to be have been handed down through the ages. I know that only a relatively few Christians hold to the foundation principles of their faith. What we are seeing is that there are basic freedoms that much of the world enjoys that are proscribed within the Muslim religion. Christianity does not offer salvation or the sword. The Lord Jesus wants no forced "love", but only a voluntary surrender. This is not the case under the Afghan constitution.
Notice in the article that the president would not intervene. Well....my guess is that he did so privately for the case has been upset and it appears the man will go free. But, the subject is such that even the president of the country would not oppose the execution of a Muslim who turned from his religion and accepted another.
This teaching appears to be deeply rooted not in just the teachers of the Muslim religion, but from what we see in Afghanistan, it is permeates the minds of the people. I wonder if such a condition is ever curable?
It is easy to damn the 1930s appeasers of Hitler -- such as Stanley Baldwin and Neville Chamberlain in England and Edouard Daladier in France -- given what the Nazis ultimately did when unleashed. But history demands not merely recognizing the truth post facto, but also trying to reconstruct the rationale of something that now in hindsight seems inexplicable.
First, Europe had nearly been destroyed during the Great War, a mere 20 years prior. No responsible postwar leader wished to risk a second continental bloodbath.
Unfortunately, Hitler understood that all too well. In a game of diplomatic chicken, he figured many responsible democratic statesmen had more to lose than he did, as the weaker and once-beaten enemy.
Today, the 50-year Cold War is over, and Europe is at last free of burdensome military expenditure and the threat of global annihilation. Like Osama Bin Laden, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad senses a certain weariness in much of the West as it counts on perpetual peace.
He assumes that most sober Westerners will do almost anything to avoid military confrontation to stop a potential threat -- even though, unlike Hitler, Ahmadinejad not only promises to liquidate the Jews but reveals his method in advance by seeking nuclear weapons.
Some naive conservatives in prewar Europe thought the German and Italian fascists would prove a valuable bulwark against communism, and so could be politically finessed. So, too, it has been at times with Islamic fascism. Arming the mujahadeen in Afghanistan, Pakistan or Saudi Arabia was once seen as an inspired way of thwarting Soviet communist imperialism.
Just as Hitler concocted incidents such as the burning of the Reichstag to create outrage, Islamist leaders incite frenzy in their followers over a supposed flushed Koran at Guantanamo and several inflammatory cartoons, some of them never published by Danish newspapers at all.
Anti-Semitism, of course, is the mother's milk of fascism. It is always, they say, a small group of Jews -- whether shadowy cabinet advisers and international bankers of the 1930s or the manipulative neoconservatives and Israeli leadership of the present -- who alone stir up the trouble.
The point of the comparison is not to suggest that history simply repeats itself, but to learn why intelligent people delude themselves into embracing naive policies. After the removal of the Taliban and Saddam Hussein, the furious reply of the radical Islamist world was to censor Western newspapers, along with Iran's accelerated efforts to get the bomb.
In response, either the West will continue to stand up now to these reoccurring post-Sept. 11 threats, or it will see the bullies' demands only increase as its own resistance weakens. Like the appeasement of the 1930s, opting for the easier choice will only guarantee a more costly one later on.

It is interesting to note that the reporter included this statement from a Sunni Muslim leader: "Whoever did this was not a Muslim." No, could it have been a Christian or a Jew who did it? Seems silly to ask such a question. I wonder why? It may have something to do with the difference between the religions?

The latest minor example of the latter is occurring at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As has been generally reported, an Iranian Muslim student drove a jeep into a crowd of students, causing only minor injuries. He turned himself in and informed the police and the media that he was trying to kill the students to "avenge the deaths of Muslims around the world."
Neither the university nor most of the media has been willing to characterize this event as a terrorist attempt by a radical Muslim.
Similarly, the attack at the Los Angeles International Airport a few years ago was for nine months just called a violent attack, before it was finally characterized by police as a radical Muslim act of terrorism.
I have been in contact with British politicians who tell me that there is increasing radical Muslim street violence in Britain that is explicitly motivated by radical Islam but is not reported or characterized as such. Even in its cleansed versions, I am told, these incidents are being extremely underreported.
In Antwerp last month, according to the reporter Paul Belien, rioting Moroccan "youths" went on a rampage destroying cars and beating up reporters, but the police were instructed not even to stop them or arrest them. According to an anonymous policeman, "An ambulance was told to switch off its siren because that might provoke the Moroccans." This event, too, was under reported, or not reported at all in American media.
And of course, last October in Paris and other French cities, hundreds of buildings were torched and tens of thousands of cars burned by Muslim "youths" through weeks of rioting, while both the French government and most of the "responsible" experts denied there was any radical Muslim component to the greatest urban violence to hit France since World War. It was all to do with poverty and teenage angst and alienation.
Of course poverty and alienation can't explain the Iranian student in North Carolina. He has just received one of the finest educations available to a privileged American. He reportedly has received advanced degrees in philosophy and psychology from one of our top universities.
The media has pointed out that there is no evidence he was connected to Al Qaeda or another terrorist cell. But that is exactly the point. As I discussed in my book last year, the threat to the West is vastly more than bin Laden and Al Qaeda (although that would be bad enough.)
The greater danger is the ferment in Islam that is generating radical ideas in an unknown, but growing percentage of grass-roots Muslims around the world -- very much including in Europe and, to a currently lesser extent, in the United States.
What are we dealing with? A few maladjusted "youth"? Or a larger and growing
number of perfectly well-adjusted men and women -- who just happen to be adjusted to a different set of cultural, religious (or distorted religious) and political values. And does it matter that those values are inimical to western concepts of tolerance, democracy, equality and religious freedom?
The public has the right and vital need to have the events of our time fully and fairly described and reported. But a witch's brew of psychological denial and political correctness is suppressing the institutional voices of government, police, schools, universities and the media when it comes to radical Islam.
As the danger grows but is not publicly described, the public will first be ignorant and fail to demand sufficient remedial action.
But as incidents and rumors are encountered over time, the public mind will inevitably suspect the worst and demand the strongest action. Demagogues will emerge to gratify that vox populi. (The Dubai port deal is a small example of such a process < although in that incident the threat is real and there are many sincere and rational voices amidst the many demagogues.)
Institutional voices are not being responsible by suppressing honest description of radical Islamic events. Denying the existence of evil (or refusing to be judgmental about it) has never proved a reliable method for defeating it. Hell is presumably filled with souls who didn't understand that point

AYHAN SURUCU was so angry when his sister started to wear make-up and date German men that he put a gun to her head at a bus stop and killed her.
The 18-year-old Turk fired three bullets into her brain and calmly walked away.
Boys at a nearby school, attended mainly by the children of immigrant Muslim families, cheered and applauded when news of the murder reached them.
The so-called "honour killing" of Hatun Surucu, 23, last year shocked Germany and sparked intense debate about a conservative Muslim immigrant community at odds with a secular society.
That anger was rekindled yesterday when Surucu, a minor when the murder took place, was sentenced to nine years and three months by a Berlin court, considered lenient by many Germans.
His brothers, Alpaslan, 25, and Mutlu, 26, were acquitted because of lack of evidence, at which friends and family in the courtroom cheered. The prosecution had sought life sentences for their part in the murder of their sister.
The state prosecutor had demanded that all three brothers be convicted. Ayhan, the youngest, had confessed to pulling the trigger but according to the prosecutor the two others had stood guard and obtained the murder weapon. They denied any involvement.
The evidence of a crown witness, a Turkish girl who wore a bullet-proof vest when she stood in the witness stand, was deemed yesterday to be too flimsy for a conviction. Only Ayhan, 19, was jailed after admitting that he wanted to "wipe the stain from our family".
There are 40 "honour killings" a year in Germany and most of them result from the failure of an arranged marriage, which are illegal in the country.

The death [May 13] of Daniel Wultz, a Florida teenager critically injured last month in a suicide bombing at an Israeli restaurant, is a "gift from Allah" and revenge against American Jewish support for Israel, Abu Nasser, a leader of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, one of the groups responsible for the deadly blast, told WorldNetDaily.
Abu Amin, a leader of the Islamic Jihad, which also took responsibility for the April 17 bombing in which Wultz was injured, told WND last night his terror group may target Americans in the near future.
Wultz, 16, was one of over 60 people injured in the attack in which a Palestinian suicide bomber blew himself up in a crowded section of Tel Aviv as Israelis celebrated the fifth day of the Passover holiday. The blast ripped through a falafel restaurant just outside the city's old central bus station, killing nine. The same restaurant was hit by a suicide attack in January, wounding 20. A tenth Israeli victim passed away this weekend. Wultz's demise yesterday brought to 11 the total number of deaths from the suicide blast so far.
Islamic Jihad and the Al Aqsa Brigades, the declared military wing of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah Party, claimed responsibility for the bombing.
In a WND exclusive interview, Abu Nasser, a senior leader of the Al Aqsa Brigades in the West Bank, rejoiced in Wultz's death. Abu Nasser is part of the Brigades leadership in the Balata refugee camp suspected of plotting the attack.
"This is a gift from Allah. We wish this young dog will go directly with no transit to hell," Abu Nasser said. "[Wultz] was part of the American support machine that helps our enemy. All these young American Jews come here to support the occupation, they build and live in the settlements ... . I imagine him as one of these Nazis who live here [in the settlements.] There is no difference between him and them."
He said Wultz's death should demonstrate to Americans "that even if you live in the U.S. the hand of Allah and the sword of the Jihad fighters will reach you and you will find the same end [as Wultz]."
Asked if his group would specifically target Americans in Israel, Abu Amin replied, "Concerning the Americans we do not target them but I will not be surprise if the resistance organizations would reconsider this matter. America is a full partner of the enemy in the siege against our people.
"If we know there are Americans in a place we plan to attack, we will not cancel the operation. On the contrary this would be a sign from Allah that this is a more blessed operation. Killing Americans and Jews in one operation - it can be great."

Muslim terrorism, but not connected with their faith? Wonder why the statement by the police chief?
WASHINGTON -- Iran's parliament [recently] passed a new law that would force the country's Jews, Christians and other religious minorities to wear color-coded ID badges to designate them as non-Muslims in a move that heralds broader faith-based persecution.
Iranian expatriates confirmed reports the Iranian parliament, or majlis, has approved a law that would require the roughly 25,000 Jews living in the Islamic Republic to attach a yellow strip of cloth to their clothing; Christians would wear red badges and Zoroastrians would wear blue ones.
The law further mandates that non-Muslims adhere to a dress code under which they wear "standard Islamic garments" that remove ethnic and class distinctions, the Canadian National Post reported Friday. The purpose would be to prevent Muslims from shaking the hands of "unclean" non-Muslims in public.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader and highest authority, must approve the law for it to take effect. If ratified, it could take effect as early as next year.
"This is reminiscent of the Holocaust," said Rabbi Marvin Hier, head of the Simon Weisenthal Center in Los Angeles. "Iran is moving closer and closer to the ideology of the Nazis."

In Saudi Arabia, a first-grader learns in Monotheism and Jurisprudence class that Jews and Christians are destined for hellfire. Hating them becomes the foundation years later for 12th-grade textbooks that exhort him to wage militant jihad against infidels.
Ali Al-Ahmed, director of the Washington based Gulf Institute, sums up the results of such indoctrination: "Five million students in 25,000 schools. Imagine if only 1 percent of them took to heart the content of these schools. That's 50,000 terrorists."
Mr. Al-Ahmed's group researched and provided passages from 12 textbooks for a May 24 Freedom House report on the progress of Saudi education reform. The report shows that, contrary to Saudi claims, little has changed in Saudi-funded textbooks and curriculum -- which predominate at Islamic schools around the world -- since 9/11, when it became evident that the kingdom's virulent brand of Islam, called Wahhabism, was fueling global terrorism.
After the report's release, Saudi ambassador to the United States Turki Al-Faisal quickly began damage control. "Overhauling an educational system is a massive undertaking," he said in a statement. "There are hundreds of books that are being revised to comply with the new requirements, and the process remains ongoing."
But for the past year, he and other Saudi officials have claimed that intolerant content has been revised. Instead, inflammatory teachings remain in the textbooks, in some cases moved or added.
"It doesn't take anyone five years to remove the obvious material," Mr. Al-Ahmed, himself a Saudi who came through his country's schools, told WORLD. "At least they could stop using these textbooks outside [of Saudi Arabia]." The Ministry of Education, he said, is dominated by Wahhabi activists. He believes, overall, that the kingdom has little genuine interest in reform ("World Magazine," June 10, 2006, p. 38).
As Efraim Karsh, author of the book "Islamic Imperialism: A History" points out, America is reviled in the Muslim world not because of its specific policies "but because, as the pre-eminent world power, it blocks the final realization of this same age-old dream of a universal Islamic empire (or umma)."
According to Hugh Fitzgerald, "One must keep in mind both the way in which some atrocities ascribed to Serbs were exaggerated, while the atrocities inflicted on them were minimized or ignored altogether. But what was most disturbing was that there was no context to anything: nothing about the centuries of Muslim rule."

Arab citizens of Israel and their "Palestinian" cousins expressed pleasure at the blow America's voters delivered to President George W. Bush November 8, when Democrats became the majority party in the House of Representatives.
Arab Knesset member Ahmed Tibi, a senior advisor to the late terror chieftain, Yasser Arafat, and an avowed enemy of the Jewish state in which he enjoys all the privileges of citizen and lawmaker, made no bones about his feelings.
"Bush's policies are anti-Arab, anti Islamic and anti-Palestinian and encourage terror around the world and the way the neo-conservatives related to the Arab world was outrageous and humiliating, so I am happy to see [the Republicans] lose the election," Tibi told The Jerusalem Post.
On November 2, World Net Daily (WND) quoted a senior member of PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas' Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades as saying that "of course Americans should vote Democrat."
Jihad Jaara, one of the terrorists who laid siege to Bethlehem's Church of the Nativity said American Muslims would support the Democrats "because there is an atmosphere in America that encourages those who want to withdraw from Iraq. It is time that the American people support those who want to take them out of this Iraqi mud."
WND's Jerusalem bureau chief, Aaron Klein, said that the Palestinian killers he interviewed "rejected statements from some prominent Democrats in the U.S. that a withdrawal from Iraq would end the insurgency, explaining an evacuation would prove resistance works and would compel jihadists to continue fighting until America is destroyed."
They told Klein a Democrat electoral win would prove to them that Americans are "tired" of fighting the war on terror.
Newly elected Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senator Hillary Clinton were among the many liberals who hailed Rumsfeld¹s departure as opening the way for a "change of course in Iraq."
For Muslims, such a change in the prosecution of the post-war situation in Iraq promises progress towards self inflicted defeat for the United States.

In an article in the Egyptian government daily Al-Ahram, Egyptian Mufti Sheikh Dr. 'Ali Gum'a expressed his support of the resistance in Lebanon and stated that the lies of the "Hebrew entity" expose "the true and hideous face of the blood-suckers... who prepare [Passover] matzos from human blood." [1]
The following are excerpts from the article:
"Greetings to the Lebanese people, to the Lebanese government, and to the Lebanese resistance - to the small and beautiful country that has proved to the world that the ideals of determination, bravery and self-dignity still exist in this era that has been taken over by the blood-sucking murderers.

The North West zone of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) last week condemned the repeated trial of Christians before Sharia (Islamic) Courts in Kaduna without the due consent of the Christians.
According to a statement by CAN, several letters had been written to the Grand Khadi (Islamic Chief Judge) in the state where they pointed out the obvious disregard for the judicial reforms in the state.
CAN notes that in spite of the protest against the trial of Christians in Sharia Courts in Kaduna, the act had continued with the passing of judgement on Christians without their consent, noting that this could threaten the peace.
This is one complaint that should be treated with urgency to ensure that things did not get out of hands. If the Islamic leaders in the state have failed to respond adequately to this distress, the state can not afford to delay.
Even as the state is expected to act fast, the federal government must intervene now before the situation escalates. This must be done quickly to avoid the repeat of religious violence that results in the loss of human lives and property.
If what CAN has said is correct, all peace loving people in Nigeria and beyond must persuade the Islamic Courts to desist from acts capable of disturbing the peace, including trying and sentencing of Christians.
In the interest of fairness and of peace, the Sharia courts must be seen to have completely absolved all the Christians arraigned before them of all charges and be transferred to legitimate courts of law in the state for proper trial

It is chilling that the Baker-Hamilton report came on the eve of Pearl Harbor's anniversary. In 1941, clashes every day in the Atlantic Ocean made us more focused on the imminence of war with Germany than with Japan. Today all eyes are on Iraq. It's called the center of the war on terrorism, but it must not monopolize our attention. We need a third eye because we are now less likely to be attacked by international terrorists than by homegrown American citizens, self-radicalized individuals who are members of groups inspired by al Qaeda propaganda.
This is a profoundly demoralizing thought, given the long tradition of success our nation has enjoyed in infusing newcomers with the American ideal. Britain, taking a different course, was proud to have created a multicultural society. But apparently well-adapted young Muslims who were born in Britain exploded the subway bombs of July 2005. Now the head of Britain's domestic intelligence agency, Eliza Manningham-Buller, has come out with a grave warning. Not so long ago it was an offense for anyone even to mention the name of the head of MI-5. (The box office hit, Casino Royale,
has it right: 007's boss, Judi Dench, is a distinctly anonymous figure). So the fact that the MI-5 director has stepped out of the shadows is significant in itself. And what she says is that there are many more British Muslims who back the terrorists. MI-5 has stopped five plots to date. We know of the one to blow up 10 planes over the Atlantic, but MI-5 is monitoring 1,600 other suspects, mostly homegrown Islamic terrorists who get their training in murder and mayhem on the Internet. In Germany, too, only an alert train conductor prevented the detonation of propane and gasoline bombs that would have horribly burned and killed hundreds of commuters.
A new training ground. Interviews with the heads of counterterrorism and local police officials in the United States yield similar assessments. The threat is from second- and third-generation children of immigrants, fluent in English and accustomed to American society but using the legal rights of U.S. citizenship to rebel from within. They have learned the Koran on the Internet; they lead small clusters of 20 to 25 mostly young men who share feelings of alienation, a longing for self-importance, a need to be a part
of some larger group or cause. They have developed what is called "adversarial assimilation."
Marc Sageman, who collected the life histories of 400 would-be jihadists, found that most were well-to-do, with two thirds having some college education and only 27 percent characterized as lower class. Britain: In a "true Islamic state,"sexually active homosexuals would be executed, says Arshad Misbahi, an imam in Manchester's Central Mosque. According to interviewer John Casson, the imam explains that while executions "might result in the deaths of thousands," they would be worthwhile "if this deterred millions from having sex and spreading disease."
But there can't be much question that at this point in the war against radical Islam, the radicals are on the march. From Ahmadinejad's swagger to Hezbollah's war on Israel to the plot to blow up jetliners leaving London, our enemies are aggressive, relentless, and unequivocal in their determination to defeat us. Meanwhile, Western Europe is turning into Eurabia before our eyes, as a fading native population with its effete secular culture of pacifism and relativism is superseded by a surging Muslim cohort. Most Muslims are not Islamists or terrorists, of course. However, most of them keep quiet in the face of the radical offensive. That is all the radicals need to keep driving the jihad forward.

A Saudi Arabian newspaper reported that the Jews were accused of "serving global Zionism" and given 10 days to abandon their property or face abductions and theft.
Those driving them out called the Jews "disseminators of decay."
A number of Christian families have finally decided to break their silence and talk openly about what they describe as Muslim persecution of the Christian minority in this city.
The move comes as a result of increased attacks on Christians by Muslims over the past few months. The families said they wrote letters to Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, the Vatican, Church leaders and European governments complaining about the attacks, but their appeals have fallen on deaf ears.
According to the families, many Christians have long been afraid to complain in public about the campaign of "intimidation" for fear of retaliation by their Muslim neighbors and being branded "collaborators" with Israel.
But following an increase in attacks on Christian-owned property in the city over the past few months, some Christians are no longer afraid to talk about the ultra-sensitive issue. And they are talking openly about leaving the city.
"The situation is very dangerous," said Samir Qumsiyeh, owner of the Beit Sahur-based private Al-Mahd (Nativity) TV station. "I believe that 15 years from now there will be no Christians left in Bethlehem. Then you will need a torch to find a Christian here. This is a very sad situation."
Qumsiyeh, one of the few Christians willing to speak about the harsh conditions of their community, has been the subject of numerous death threats. His house was recently attacked with fire-bombs, but no one was hurt.
Qumsiyeh said he has documented more than 160 incidents of attacks on Christians in the area in recent years.
Edward Salama, said the problem in the city was the absence of law and order. "We are living in a state of chaos and lawlessness," he said. "The police are afraid of the thugs who are taking our lands."
Salama expressed deep concern over the conditions of Christians in Bethlehem, noting that many were leaving the country as a result of the deterioration.
"When I see what's happening to Christians here, I worry a lot for our future," he said. "They are targeting Christians, because we are seen as weak" (Khaled Abu Toameh, The Jerusalem Post, January 25, 2007).
The general tendency of Westerners is to view global jihad as a foreign policy issue. But today it is clear that it is also a domestic policy issue.
Over the weekend The Sunday Telegraph reported that a recently circulated British intelligence report warned: "The terrorist threat facing Britain from home-grown al-Qaida agents is higher than at any time since the September 11 attacks in 2001."
After foiling the jihadist plot to down US bound British passenger aircraft last summer, MI5 director Eliza Manningham-Buller claimed that there are some 1,600 British Muslims actively involved in plotting attacks against Britain. According to the intelligence report cited in the Sunday Telegraph, today that number exceeds 2,000.
It is not surprising that Britain faces the specter of mass attacks carried out by its own citizens in the name of Allah. Repeated exposes of the goings-on in British mosques and in supposedly "moderate" British Muslim communal organizations have shown unequivocally that they are being used as indoctrination centers for jihad.
WHILE IT is true that in the US the danger of home-grown jihadists to national security is lower than it is in Britain, it is also true that there is a growing phenomenon of jihadist violence being perpetrated by Muslim men against American civilians in the name of jihad.
The Investors Business Daily published an editorial enumerating a partial list of acts of terrorism carried out by Muslim men against their fellow Americans since the September 11 attacks. Most recently, Sulejman Talovic entered a shopping mall in Salt Lake City, murdered five and wounded four unsuspecting shoppers before being killed by an off-duty police officer.
As was the case when Derrick Shareef, another Muslim male, was arrested in early December for plotting to carry out a similar attack at a shopping mall in Illinois just before Christmas, the media and the law enforcement agencies covering the Salt Lake City massacre have made light of the fact that the perpetrator was a Muslim.
While Talovic is dead and so cannot explain his motives to authorities, Shareef was arrested after telling an FBI informant of his plans to murder Jews specifically and Americans in particular for Allah. As Shareef told the informant, "I swear by Allah man, I'm down for it too. I'm down for the cause. I'm down to live for the cause and die for the cause, man."
SHAREEF'S protestations of jihadist ardor made little impression on either federal authorities or the media. Upon announcing Shareef's arrest, US Federal Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald insisted that he was acting on his own and that he had no outside inspiration for his decision to commit mass murder for Allah. As was the case with Talovic and with Naveed Afzal Haq, who murdered one woman and wounded five during his shooting rampage at the Seattle Jewish Federation last July, the media and federal authorities have hushed up and failed to investigate the jihadist motives for the Illinois attacker or link him to any larger phenomenon.
Unfortunately, there can be little hope that universities in the US or in the West in general will devote any serious consideration to this most important sociological, psychological and national security trend. Far from being willing to study the most central issue of our times, universities are leading the charge in either ignoring it, or apologizing for it.
[On February 22, 2007] the Dean's office at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology co-sponsored an event on the Arab-Israel conflict called, "Foreign Policy and Social Justice: A Jewish View, a Muslim View." The man invited to provide the Jewish view was Dovid Weiss, a member of the crackpot Neturei Karta sect. Weiss rose to prominence when he traveled to Teheran last December to participate in Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's Holocaust denial conference.
At an "Israel Apartheid Week" event at City University of New York, after watching a propaganda film, 19-year old Binyamin Rister rose and politely asked the ISM presenters if they supported terrorism. When he received no reply he politely repeated the question. Rather than wait for an answer, CUNY security guards dragged Rister from the room and then repeatedly banged his head against the wall of an elevator and threw him head first down the stairs. Rister's injuries from the assault by campus security required him to be evacuated by ambulance in a neck brace to the hospital.
In an almost identical case at Georgetown last year, Bill Maniaci a 65-year-old retired Jewish American police officer was brutalized by Georgetown security guards after he asked ISM spokesmen if they supported terrorism. He is currently suing Georgetown for $8 million in damages for the assault. According to Lee Kaplan's report of the CUNY event in Frontpage Magazine, there were seven witnesses to the unprovoked attack against Rister. He too has filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against CUNY.
Three employees of a Bible publishing company, including one German, have been murdered by attackers in eastern Turkey.
The victims had their hands and feet tied and their throats slit, reports said. A fourth person escaped by jumping out of a window and is being treated in hospital.
The CNN-Turk news channel reported that six suspects have been detained. It showed bodies being carried out of the building of the Zirve publishing house in the town of Malatya. The company publishes Bibles and other Christian literature.
The government and other officials in Turkey have in the past criticized Christian missionary work in the country while the European Union, which Turkey hopes to join, has called for more freedom for the small Christian minority. The country is 99 percent Muslim, though officially secular. Some Turkish nationalists see Christian missionaries as enemies working to undermine Turkey's political and religious institutions.

Is Islam incompatible with democracy, decency?
BAGHDAD, Iraq — An al-Qaida-affiliated insurgent group is giving Christians in Baghdad a stark set of options: Convert to Islam, marry your daughters to our fighters, pay an Islamic tax or leave with only the clothes on your back.
A U.S. military official said American forces became aware of the threats only last month and now have erected barriers around the largest Christian enclave in Baghdad's Dora neighborhood in an effort to protect its residents.
Christians in Baghdad refuse to discuss the threats for fear of retribution. But in Syria, where thousands of Iraqi Christians have fled, tales abound of families that were killed or driven from their homes because they either refused or couldn't afford to pay the jizya, a tax usually levied on non-Muslim men of military age that's been part of Islam for more than 1,000 years.
"Two or three months ago, we heard we were going to be forcibly removed from Dora," said Rafah Elia Daoud, 53, who fled to Damascus, Syria's capital, on May 24. "Not everyone got a paper with the threat, but we knew. The choice was to convert, pay the jizya or get out."
"My brother was threatened; my sister was threatened. All of them had to pay the jizya," added her husband, Jamal Antone Karoumy, 66. "One of my brothers got a note and a single bullet under his door. The note said, `If you don't pay the jizya to the resistance, you'll be killed.'"
Madeline Shukr Yusuf, 74, is still shaken by her recent escape to Damascus. She said she didn't have enough money to pay a monthly jizya of 250,000 Iraqis dinars, about $200. The insurgents were determined to collect their tax, she said.
"They wanted to kill me and take my gold bracelets," she said, tears filling her eyes at the memory. "They tell us pay or give a daughter in marriage to a fighter."
Baghdad had major Christian enclaves in the central neighborhood of Karada, the eastern mostly Shiite neighborhood of New Baghdad and nearby al-Ghadir and the notorious Sunni-dominated Doura in the capital's south.
As Iraq has descended into chaos, however, many Christians have fled, joining an estimated 2.2 million exiles, including 1.4 million Iraqis now estimated to be living in Syria. At least 19,000 Iraqi Christians have registered in Damascus with the United Nations refugee agency, and thousands more are thought to have sought shelter there, but have yet to register.
A Christian Iraqi legislator estimated Tuesday that a half-million Christians have fled Iraq since 2004.

One in four younger U.S. Muslims say suicide bombings to defend their religion are acceptable at least in some circumstances, though most American Muslims overwhelmingly reject the tactic and are critical of Islamic extremism and al Qaeda, a poll says.
The survey by the Pew Research Center, one of the most exhaustive ever of U.S. Muslims, revealed a community that in many ways blends comfortably into society. Its largely mainstream members express nearly as much happiness with their lives and communities as the general public does, show a broad willingness to adopt American customs, and have income and education levels similar to others in the U.S.
Even so, the survey revealed noteworthy pockets of discontent.
While nearly 80 percent of U.S. Muslims say suicide bombings of civilians to defend Islam cannot be justified, 13 percent say they can be, at least rarely.
That sentiment is strongest among those younger than 30. Two percent of them say it can often be justified, 13 percent say sometimes and 11 percent say rarely.
"It is a hair-raising number," said Radwan Masmoudi, president of the Washington-based Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy, which promotes the compatibility of Islam with democracy.

That is the charming verse kindergarteners in a Hamas classroom chanted last week during their graduation ceremony. The girls dressed in butterfly costumes. The boys donned camouflage, black masks, green bandanas and toy semiautomatic rifles. The video aired by the Middle East Media Research Institute (www.memritv.org) features the children wielding swords and guns while mimicking paramilitary exercises.
And how are we preparing the children of the West to defend themselves against these little soldiers of Allah?
Scene 1: In New York City, one nursery school dragged 3-year-old toddlers to the office of Rep. Eliot Engel (D-Bronx/Westchester/Rockland), where they sang "It's a Small World" around a 12-foot "Tree of Peace." The New York Press reported last week:
"The handmade tree, crafted by 17 children during pre-school class time, was a statement against American troops remaining in Iraq, and a call to pursue peaceful paths to end all world conflicts. This gift, however, seemed more like a Trojan horse, designed to gain an invitation inside so that the children's far-left leaning parents could rail against the war and the congressman's initial vote in support of it."
The children's teacher, Valerie Coleman-Palansky, defended the stunt thusly: "I think it's appropriate for 3-year-olds to know that the world needs to be a peaceful place for everybody to live in and a safe place for everybody to live in."
Perhaps it's time for Ms. Coleman-Palansky to acquaint herself with the Palestinian Mickey Mouse. The chant of the little jihadists drowns out the Disneyfied reverie:

But Rushdie, the target of death threats dating back to 1988 over his book "The Satanic Verses," has seen enough performances of Jihad Theater to take proper precautions. He has requested police protection after an Iranian group put a $150,000 bounty on his head. Forouz Raja'ee-Far, secretary general of the Headquarters for Honoring the Martyrs of Islam World Movement, offered the prize because, after all, "it is an obligation for all Muslims to kill Salman Rushdie even if he repents from the bottom of his heart and becomes the pious man of the time."

Wake Forest University professor and author Charles Kimball [spoke] during the 2007 Community Prayer Breakfast at Harborside Event Center in Fort Myers. Kimball, who wrote the book "When Religion Becomes Evil," spoke about understanding and appreciating different religious views.
The world’s religions are at a crossroads, forced to choose between paths of suspicion and violence or mutual cooperation and peace, an expert on comparative religion told those attending a prayer breakfast in Fort Myers.
The sectarian violence that has divided much of the Middle East is an example of religious belief turned to evil purpose, said Charles Kimball, a professor at Wake Forest University with a background in Middle Eastern affairs.
Local interfaith dialogues can increase understanding and have a global reach, he said.
Kimball cited a chapter of the Koran, Islam’s holy scripture, that speaks of religious diversity as part of God’s plan.
"We must accept that some of our traditional ways of thinking are no longer adequate," Kimball told the gathering of 1,200 people at the Harborside Event Center. “Narrow views are becoming increasingly dangerous in a world where terrorists have access to weapons of mass destruction.
"Christians, Muslims and Jews are all talking about the same God, but they don’t perceive him in the same way."

Suspected Islamic separatists have killed three people in Thailand's troubled south, including a Buddhist man they beheaded and set alight, police said today.
The 53-year-old was beheaded yesterday in Yala, police said, one of three Muslim-majority provinces along the Malaysian border hit by a worsening insurgency that has killed about 2,000 people in three years.

“Even though we’ve prevented one terrorist attack, we know that there are still people in Denmark and abroad that have the capacity, the will and the ability to carry out terrorist attacks in Denmark,” Jakob Scharf, the head of Danish intelligence, said in an interview in his office here.

Almost half of Britain’s mosques are under the control of a hardline Islamic sect whose leading preacher loathes Western values and has called on Muslims to “shed blood” for Allah, an investigation by The Times has found.
Riyadh ul Haq, who supports armed jihad and preaches contempt for Jews, Christians and Hindus, is in line to become the spiritual leader of the Deobandi sect in Britain. The ultra-conservative movement, which gave birth to the Taleban in Afghanistan, now runs more than 600 of Britain’s 1,350 mosques, according to a police report seen by The Times.
The Times investigation casts serious doubts on government statements that foreign preachers are to blame for spreading the creed of radical Islam in Britain’s mosques and its policy of enouraging the recruitment of more “home-grown” preachers.
Mr ul Haq, 36, was educated and trained at an Islamic seminary in Britain and is part of a new generation of British imams who share a similar radical agenda. He heaps scorn on any Muslims who say they are “proud to be British” and argues that friendship with a Jew or a Christian makes “a mockery of Allah’s religion”.
Seventeen of Britain’s 26 Islamic seminaries are run by Deobandis and they produce 80 per cent of home-trained Muslim clerics. Many had their studies funded by local education authority grants. The sect, which has significant representation on the Muslim Council of Britain, is at its strongest in the towns and cities of the Midlands and northern England.
Figures supplied to The Times by the Lancashire Council of Mosques reveal that 59 of the 75 mosques in five towns – Blackburn, Bolton, Preston, Oldham and Burnley – are Deobandi-run.

There are some who teach that Islam is the King of the North in Daniel 11. There are others who teach that Islam is the King of the South. I am inclined to agree with one or the other. If so, the end is very near. Islam is seen clearly in Revelation in the last days. That is enough to cause one to study this subject earnestly.
"True education does not ignore the value of scientific knowledge or literary acquirements; but above information it values power; above power, goodness; above intellectual acquirements, character. The world does not so much need men of great intellect as of noble character. It needs men in whom ability is controlled by steadfast principle. {Ed 225.1}
"Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom." "The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright." Proverbs 4:7; 15:2. True education imparts this wisdom. It teaches the best use not only of one but of all our powers and acquirements. Thus it covers the whole circle of obligation--to ourselves, to the world, and to God. {Ed 225.2}
Character building is the most important work ever entrusted to human beings; and never before was its diligent study so important as now. Never was any previous generation called to meet issues so momentous; never before were young men and young women confronted by perils so great as confront them today. {Ed 225.3}
At such a time as this, what is the trend of the education given? To what motive is appeal most often made? To self-seeking. Much of the education given is a perversion of the name. In true education the selfish ambition, the greed for power, the disregard for the rights and needs of humanity, that are the curse of our world, find a counterinfluence. God's plan of life has a place for every human being. Each is to improve his talents to the utmost; and faithfulness in doing this, be the gifts few or many, entitles one to honor. In God's plan there is no place for selfish rivalry. Those who measure themselves by themselves, and compare themselves among themselves, are not wise. 2 Corinthians 10:12. Whatever we do is to be done "as of the ability which God giveth." 1 Peter 4:11. It is to be done "heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ." Colossians 3:23, 24. Precious the service done and the education gained in carrying out these principles. But how widely different is much of the education now given! From the child's earliest years it is an appeal to emulation and rivalry; it fosters selfishness, the root of all evil. {Ed 225.4}
Thus is created strife for supremacy; and there is encouraged the system of "cramming," which in so many cases destroys health and unfits for usefulness. In many others, emulation leads to dishonesty; and by fostering ambition and discontent, it embitters the life and helps to fill the world with those restless, turbulent spirits that are a continual menace to society. {Ed 226.1}
Nor does danger pertain to methods only. It is found also in the subject matter of the studies. {Ed 226.2}
What are the works on which, throughout the most susceptible years of life, the minds of the youth are led to dwell? In the study of language and literature, from what fountains are the youth taught to drink?--From the wells of paganism; from springs fed by the corruptions of ancient heathendom. They are bidden to study authors, of whom, without dispute, it is declared that they have no regard for the principles of morality. {Ed 226.3}
And of how many modern authors also might the same be said! With how many are grace and beauty of language but a disguise for principles that in their real deformity would repel the reader! {Ed 227.1}
Besides these there is a multitude of fiction writers, luring to pleasant dreams in palaces of ease. These writers may not be open to the charge of immorality, yet their work is no less really fraught with evil. It is robbing thousands upon thousands of the time and energy and self-discipline demanded by the stern problems of life. {Ed 227.2}
In the study of science, as generally pursued, there are dangers equally great. Evolution and its kindred errors are taught in schools of every grade, from the kindergarten to the college. Thus the study of science, which should impart a knowledge of God, is so mingled with the speculations and theories of men that it tends to infidelity. {Ed 227.3}
Even Bible study, as too often conducted in the schools, is robbing the world of the priceless treasure of the word of God. The work of "higher criticism," in dissecting, conjecturing, reconstructing, is destroying faith in the Bible as a divine revelation; it is robbing God's word of power to control, uplift, and inspire human lives. {Ed 227.4}
As the youth go out into the world to encounter its allurements to sin,--the passion for money getting, for amusement and indulgence, for display, luxury, and extravagance, the overreaching, fraud, robbery, and ruin,--what are the teachings there to be met? {Ed 227.5}
Spiritualism asserts that men are unfallen demigods; that "each mind will judge itself;" that "true knowledge places men above all law;" that "all sins committed are innocent;" for "whatever is, is right," and "God doth not condemn." The basest of human beings it represents as in heaven, and highly exalted there. Thus it declares to all men, "It matters not what you do; live as you please, heaven is your home." Multitudes are thus led to believe that desire is the highest law, that license is liberty, and that man is accountable only to himself. {Ed 227.6}
With such teaching given at the very outset of life, when impulse is strongest, and the demand for self-restraint and purity is most urgent, where are the safeguards of virtue? what is to prevent the world from becoming a second Sodom? {Ed 228.1}
At the same time anarchy is seeking to sweep away all law, not only divine, but human. The centralizing of wealth and power; the vast combinations for the enriching of the few at the expense of the many; the combinations of the poorer classes for the defense of their interests and claims; the spirit of unrest, of riot and bloodshed; the world-wide dissemination of the same teachings that led to the French Revolution--all are tending to involve the whole world in a struggle similar to that which convulsed France. {Ed 228.2}
Such are the influences to be met by the youth of today. To stand amidst such upheavals they are now to lay the foundations of character. {Ed 228.3}
In every generation and in every land the true foundation and pattern for character building have been the same. The divine law, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart; . . . and thy neighbor as thyself" (Luke 10:27), the great principle made manifest in the character and life of our Saviour, is the only secure foundation and the only sure guide. {Ed 228.4}
"The stability of thy times and the strength of thy happiness shall be wisdom and knowledge" (Isaiah 33:6, Leeser's translation)--that wisdom and knowledge which God's word alone can impart. {Ed 229.1}
It is as true now as when the words were spoken to Israel of obedience to His commandments: "This is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations." Deuteronomy 4:6. {Ed 229.2}
Here is the only safeguard for individual integrity, for the purity of the home, the well-being of society, or the stability of the nation. Amidst all life's perplexities and dangers and conflicting claims the one safe and sure rule is to do what God says. "The statutes of the Lord are right," and "he that doeth these things shall never be moved." Psalm 19:8; 15:5. {Ed 229.3}

Who would Islam be working with while they are bombing the whole world. Who are they not against?Here are some excerpts from The Great Controversy, the chapter titled The French Reformation
Throughout Christendom, Protestantism was menaced by formidable foes. The first triumphs of the Reformation past, Rome summoned new forces, hoping to accomplish its destruction. At this time the order of the Jesuits was created, the most cruel, unscrupulous, and powerful of all the champions of popery. Cut off from earthly ties and human interests, dead to the claims of natural affection, reason and conscience wholly silenced, they knew no rule, no tie, but that of their order, and no duty but to extend its power. (See Appendix.) The gospel of Christ had enabled its adherents to meet danger and endure suffering, undismayed by cold, hunger, toil, and poverty, to uphold the banner of truth in face of the rack, the dungeon, and the stake. To combat these forces, Jesuitism inspired its followers with a fanaticism that enabled them to endure like dangers, and to oppose to the power of truth all the weapons of deception. There was no crime too great for them to commit, no deception too base for them to practice, no disguise too difficult for them to assume. Vowed to perpetual poverty and humility, it was their studied aim to secure wealth and power, to be devoted to the overthrow of Protestantism, and the re-establishment of the papal supremacy.And this is from the chapter The Bible and the French Revolution

When appearing as members of their order, they wore a garb of sanctity, visiting prisons and hospitals, ministering to the sick and the poor, professing to have renounced the world, and bearing the sacred name of Jesus, who went about doing good. But under this blameless exterior the most criminal and deadly purposes were often concealed. It was a fundamental principle of the order that the end justifies the means. By this code, lying, theft, perjury, assassination, were not only pardonable but commendable, when they served the interests of the church. Under various disguises the Jesuits worked their way into offices of state, climbing up to be the counselors of kings, and shaping the policy of nations. They became servants to act as spies upon their masters. They established colleges for the sons of princes and nobles, and schools for the common people; and the children of Protestant parents were drawn into an observance of popish rites. All the outward pomp and display of the Romish worship was brought to bear to confuse the mind and dazzle and captivate the imagination, and thus the liberty for which the fathers had toiled and bled was betrayed by the sons. The Jesuits rapidly spread themselves over Europe, and wherever they went, there followed a revival of popery. {GC 235.1}
"With the flight of the Huguenots a general decline settled upon France. Flourishing manufacturing cities fell into decay; fertile districts returned to their native wildness; intellectual dullness and moral declension succeeded a period of unwonted progress. Paris became one vast almshouse, and it is estimated that, at the breaking out of the Revolution, two hundred thousand paupers claimed charity from the hands of the king. The Jesuits alone flourished in the decaying nation, and ruled with dreadful tyranny over churches and schools, the prisons and the galleys." {GC 279.2}Can you see here how the Jesuits played whatever role necessary to stay in control?
