Emergency Surgery for Detached Retina
« on: July 13, 2008, 02:44:34 PM »
Please pray for Del, one of our members, and a Sabbath School teacher.  He had problems with a detached retina in one eye about two years ago, and they were able to repair it.  This past week, he started having really awful pain in the other eye, and when he went to a specialist, they did surgery.  They actually took out his eyeball, and put something on it to hold the retina, then replaced the eyeball.

I talked with his wife today, and he is still in a lot of pain.  They are just praying the surgery is successful, and they are asking for prayer for recovery of his eye.

I would add a request for our head deacon (Norman), who also has a detached retina, and this will be the third time they've tried to fix it.  He maintains a positve attitude, but he relies on his eyesight for his work--he's a colporteur, and needs to drive all over the State.

Thanks.
So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants:  we have done that which was our duty to do.  Luke 17:10

Absolutely, Dora and Waly ... prayers! This can be a tricky operation even performed by a skilled surgeon. They have our prayers.

Wally, I hope your head deacon is improving.  Have prayed for him, and we are still praying for Dell, as he is not "out of the woods" yet.  Thank you all for your prayers, eyesight is such a precious gift.

Just want to give you an update on Del.  Two Sabbaths ago, he was back at church and able to tell the children's story.  In it, he used the illustration of being blind, and having to trust someone to lead you, for he said that for several weeks that is what his wife has had to do for him.  But, he said, "God has healed my eyes, through the knowledge He has given to the doctors, and through the workings of God through prayer."  We are all so thankful, and thank you for your prayers.
