September 10, 2002 Seoul, Korea .... [Song, Sung Sub/ANN]

Recovery efforts are still underway in Korea following a typhoon that struck the region August 31. Typhoon Rusa swept away more than US$258 million (KWR 310 billion) worth of property and left some 200 people dead or missing. It has been called the worst disaster to hit South Korea in recent history.

The typhoon damaged more than four hundred homes owned by Seventh-day Adventists, and at least one Adventist is reported missing. The Adventist Church in Korea has suffered an estimated US$1 million (KWR 1.5 billion) in damages.

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency in Korea, along with local Adventist churches, is responding to the disaster, collecting information and donations to support victims.
