Strong earthquake hits Taiwan; injuries reported

By PETER ENAV (AP) – 9 hours ago

TAIPEI, Taiwan — A powerful 6.4-magnitude earthquake rocked southern Taiwan on Thursday, terrifying residents, disrupting communications and triggering at least one large fire. Local news reports said several people were injured.

No tsunami alert was issued. The quake was centered in the same mountainous region of rural Kaohsiung county that endured the brunt of the damage from Typhoon Morakot, a devastating storm that killed about 700 people last August.  Source

From Fox News: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,588136,00.html?test=latestnews

DEVELOPING — A 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck off the Indonesian island of Sumatra at 11:06 p.m. local time Friday but a widespread tsunami was not predicted.

The quake hit about 102 miles west of Bengkulu, Sumatra at a depth of about 14 miles, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said there was no widespread threat of a tsunami in the Indian Ocean.

But, it added in a statement, "there is a very small possibility of a local tsunami that could affect coasts located usually no more than a hundred kilometers from the earthquake epicenter. Authorities in the region near the epicenter should be made aware of this possibility."

My comment: Jesus is coming! "Get ready, get ready!" the angels say!

That's mind boggling - so many earthquakes in 30 days. And many major quakes. No doubt about it, our planet has been traumatized by sin. Even if all the global warming hype was true it is minor to what this place is facing.

Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. Luke 21:26

There is no way to bandage the planet or heal it. Praise God there is a way of escape before total destruction.

And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Luke 21:26,27

Look at the quakes still happening in Chile. Yesterday and on previous days they are still having aftershocks above 6.0.  Jesus is even at the doors!

That is an amazing list!  How strong must an earthquake be before it is actually felt?

It depends on how close you are to the epicenter and what kind of quake it is. And what you are doing when it comes. We were in a boat when a quake slightly under 6 hit. We never knew it. But, all morning fish had been jumping out of the water prior to the quake. A very light quake is hard to feel. If one is laying in bed, you have to think about what it is that you sense.

Yes, I've experienced one while lying in bed.  It is a strange sensation to wake up to!  And, it was strong enough that I didn't have to wonder what it was.

Sorry!  I guess it was a rather silly question when you think about it.  But I was sitting here wondering how many of these quakes were felt by anyone, and thinking about how those without the means that we have would know that prophecy is being fulfilled.  But, the Lord, of course, knows what He is doing!   :)  Perhaps those of us with more to distract us from the things of God are more in need of this evidence that isn't available to others.

I follow your thinking, Diane. You know that God is going allow that evidence so that all may know. The number of quakes and the intensity will be so great that all will understand, if they want to understand, that prophecy is being fulfilled. When the big ones hit the large cities in professing Protestant lands, then it will understood. And then it will be that we will hear the call for Sunday legislation. Yes?

7.8 Earthquake Shakes Indonesia, triggers tsunami watch

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake has jolted the Indonesian island of Sumatra and triggered a local tsunami watch.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake struck before dawn Wednesday. It was centered about 205 kilometers northwest of the island, 46 kilometers under the Indian Ocean.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says a local tsunami watch has been issued, but a widespread destructive tsunami is not expected.

There is no word yet on damage or casualties. But witnesses report a power blackout on Simeulue Island, west of Aceh province.

Those with no inclination toward spiritual things are asking: Why are we having all these earthquakes? It is the perfect opportunity to say, "It is written ..." citing Matthew 24, Luke 21 and Mark 13. Most will respond in wide-eyed wonder.

A massive earthquake just hit the Solomon Islands in the Western Pacific measuring at 7.1 magnitude on the Richter Scale. The US Geological Survey reported about the earth’s movement and warnings with emergency sirens were triggered. No tsunami alert neither any loss to citizens was reported, at the time of filing of this report.

Western China has been rocked by a powerful earthquake and strong aftershocks, which have claimed more than 400 lives. More than 8,000 people have been injured and many more people may be trapped in damaged buildings.

The earthquake struck the western Chinese province of Qinghai early Wednesday, collapsing buildings in villages around the region.

The China Earthquake Administration estimates the quake as being a 7.1 magnitude, while the U.S. Geological Survey puts it at 6.9.

This week the news reported that more than 2000 people died in the China earthquake.

There are a lot of voices opposed to Bible truth. I hear a lot that there are not more earthquakes today than in the past. Here is a list of all quakes over 6.0. Charts are very nice for something like this. Anyone want to chart the quakes by the number in each year? Then all trusting souls would not have to count each quake. :)

Here is a chart that reveals the truth:

History of Quakes by Year
Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of His Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.
