Turkey earthquake - three killed and 80 injured yesterday

At least three people have been killed and 80 injured after an earthquake measuring 5.9 struck north-west Turkey, around 300km west of the capital Ankara.

The tremor struck just before midnight local time and centred on the town of Simav, in Kutahya province.

The USGS website lists moderate sized earthquakes within the last month in Chile (6.1 magnitude on Nov. 14), Guatemala (6.5 magnitude on Nov. 11 and a 7.4 magnitude on Nov. 7), and Costa Rica (6.5 magnitude on Oct. 24).
