I would like to open a Poet's area where we can Praise God and give Testimony to Him with Poetry. I would like to put my poems here to Praise God, but I want to encourage you to also do so. If you have written poems that bring glory to our Lord, share them with us here. God Bless

WE’RE NOT MUCH ON CHRISTMAS

We're not much on Christmas
Tis truthful to say.
We guess it's because
He wasn't born on that day.

We're not much on Christmas
As we have today.
Few think about Jesus
Born in the hay.

We're not much on Christmas
Cause Santa’s their Christ.
"He knows all we do
Whether naughty or nice".

We're not much on Christmas
And some things that are taught.
Feeling sorry for the children
Cause their lied to a lot.

We're not much on Christmas
We'd rather think for our self.
Knowing what His Word says
Not leaving it on the shelf.

We Praise God for sending
His Son to us here.
But sorry to say
It wasn't this time of year.

We're happy to Praise Him
That He came to save man.
He took our place
That was the plan.

If we keep Christmas
In any form at all be,
It's deep in our hearts
We give thanks to Thee.

You Lord are our Saviour
Creator and Friend.
Please help us to follow
Thee Lord, to the end.

(Goes with music for “This Is My Fathers World“)

This is my Father's House
And in it I will be
With silence in every way
For this is Thy day.

This is my Father's House
A Temple unto Thee.
What I do and hear and see
Are treasures given to Thee.

This is my Father's world
And in it I will live.
In every act I will show to them
The path to following Thee.

We are our Father's House
A place for Him to live.
The place where flows thoughts of Your love
Released to others we give.

This poem is not mine, but it is a good one.

DRINKING FROM MY SAUCER

I've never made a fortune
and it's probably too late now.
But I don't worry about that much,
I'm happy anyhow.

And as I go along life's way,
I'm reaping better than I sowed.
I'm drinking from my saucer,
Cause my cup has overflowed.

Haven't got a lot of riches,
and sometimes the going's tough.
But I have loved ones around me,
and that makes me rich enough.

I thank God for his blessings,
and the mercies He's bestowed.
I'm drinking from my saucer,
cause my cup has overflowed.

I Remember times when things went wrong,
My faith wore somewhat thin.
But all at once the dark clouds broke,
and sun peeped through again.

So Lord, help me not to gripe about
the tough rows that I've hoed.
I'm drinking from my saucer,
Cause my cup has overflowed.

If God gives me strength and courage,
when the way grows steep and rough.
I'll not ask for other blessings,
I'm already blessed enough.

And may I never be too busy,
to help others bear their loads.
Then I'll keep drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.

HOME IS WHERE HIS WORD IS

Today there are many ways to bring our children up;
Yet with all they teach  us, we drink the bitter cup.
More gangs and drugs abide; more death at every turn.
Pain and suffering everywhere; both parents and children burn.

Oh, for the old ways I pray; “Spare the rod--we spoil the child.”
They not only need it true; without it they grow wild.
They need  to know we really care about the things they do;
They want to know we’re in control, so faith in us is true.

From little on up they listen; taught what’s right and wrong.
They even learn to be alert even in what they listen to in song.
They need to know we love them and take the time to teach,
That real Bible discipline is still within their reach.

So out of hand today it is; law leaves parents in the dust.
Normal spankings are taboo and real discipline lays in rust.
Christian discipline is needed to make the family secure again.
A home of love and kindness where “God’s Word” is our friend.

A SINGLE LEAF

I seen this leaf a falling
As the wind was blowing by,
It slowly twisted downward
I thought that it would cry.
Pretty colors all brand new
Dying as the fall winds blew.
It had no power to resist
There's nothing it could do.

When Jesus sees His children falling
As the winds of strife blow by,
He sees them twisting downward
Can't you hear your Savior cry?
We know the steps to Salvation
But they slip away so fast,
When we think we can't resist
And there isn’t any way to last.

"Help me Lord" is all we need to say
When we find our self falling, we pray.
He then will reach down to gather us up
As the winds seek to cast us down beneath.
He’ll lift us above to Eternal Life
No more pain, sorrow, suffering or strife.

Be not as the leaf with no power to win
No power to live while assailed by the wind.
Be like the tree trunk sure of its place
Sturdy and strong filled with God’s Grace.
Never be moved, deceived or light footed
In His Word you are grounded and surely rooted.

God is so good to us. I remember one time when my children were little and I was driving a "bug." One of those real little things with the motor in the back. Smile

ANGELS UNAWARE?

Anyway, in Wisconsin we had snow snow snow.
So along the road I go.
The kids were yelling and fighting with glee
I thought it would truly be the end of me.
Then before I knew it, control had taken flight
As I hit some ice on that cold cold night.
Faster than a tail spin we were in the ditch
The kids were quiet then, that was sure a switch.
I worried as the car, sunk in the snow just then
How to keep warm my daughter and two little men.
But before a minute passed a car stopped at our rear
I did not know what to expect as they came ever near.
Was this an answer to my prayer or something else again?
Then from each door came out a strong husky man.
They asked a silly question, "Did I need their help tonight?"
I couldn't believe the question, I couldn't believe the sight.
Each one took up a corner of that little bug
I would have thought it weighed no more than one tiny rug.
With ease they lifted that car unto the road
For them it was a peanut, not at all a load.
Were they angels sent to help me all the way from heaven,
Or were they precious people only four, not even seven.
Just sent along our way in our time of need.
Don't matter; they were angels as far as I'm concerned
Whether human or divine never was discerned.
I just had to thank my Jesus for caring for us there,
And I know that He will help us, anytime anywhere.

           EACH DAY

Each day we live has been worthwhile
With God to help us through each trial,
Each year that passes we are older
Also wiser, smarter, bolder.

Most important is understanding
In our life that is expanding,
Leaving to care for all we meet
Loving them all for whom we greet.

New Years comes and also go
But good deeds never leave you know,
The sunshine that we pass each day
Will come on back another way.

What we have learned we should not store
Pass it on and learn some more,
This my friend will keep you going
Keep you young and keep you growing.

WITH ATTITUDES HIGH

Excepting Christ as one’s own
Excepting Life when hope is gone,
Following on when days are dark
Following the Light, even a spark.

With Attitudes High, We Continue On
We fall, but rise again
We cry, but dry our tears
We Pray, it helps our fears.

With Attitudes High, We Continue On
We lift our Voice to Christ in Song,
“He Carries Us Over” the Stony Path
To Happiness He’ll Lead us on.

With Attitudes High, We Continue On

THE TRIALS WORTH WHILE

The lemon with it's pretty face
Has a tartness to disgrace.
Makes one look as if they'd died
But healing much that is inside.

Life can be a bitter cup
But when the trial is all up,
We can see the healing done,
With Victory ours through His Son!

The Trials worth while!!   :)

THE VICTORY SONG

I daily watch my family, no matter were they've gone,
I see each priceless child and watch everything He's done.
Even those that stray and make a choice for wrong,
I still prepare for them, "The Victory Song."

"Come back to me," I whisper, deep within their heart,
"Don't wonder so far away, how I hurt when where’re apart.
"Be careful child as you journey on, don't go too far away,
"Please return to safety, even though you'd rather stay."

"Please look at thing as I see, come look at it with me,
"See Satan watching each of you, hoping you will be untrue.
"He's a clever crafty lying being, the height of the unclean,
"Don't follow him, it's not the way, come back my child,
                                                       come back today.

I daily watch my family, no matter where they've gone,
I see each priceless child and watch everything he's done.
I wait for those who strayed and have chosen to do wrong,
To come to me again, and receive "The Victory Song."

THE CHANGE

The change, oh Lord I long for it; I try so hard to be
Everything I feel is right, but it’s not up to me.
It’s You that must become a part; within this heart to come
It’s You my Lord who makes the change, You’re the only one.

So now I plead with you tonight, my spirit to renew.
Do come within this life of mine, and help me to be true.
Sweet Spirit of God flow over me, on this very night
Please make despair and sin depart, turning things aright.

Now when the Lord investigates, our life before God’s throne,
We see we’re saved because He died; He is our Corner Stone.
We now have nothing more to fear as long as Jesus rules,
And every time we need some help, we use His scriptural tools.

I’ll bend my knees Lord, every day, and know that your so near,
Temptations may be everywhere, but I will never fear.
I’m born again, and a child of heaven’s glorious King,
Joy fills my soul tonight, as I hear the angels sing.

Set me on fire so I may work, to help You to the end,
Let me feel Your Spirit mold, and know you are my friend.
Each moment please, walk with me now
As at Thy Feet I humbly bow.

I-FALL INTERSTATE

Wondering along a rugged road, not knowing what we’d find,
For at the time we did not look ahead or even behind.
Slipping gently unto pavement, not even knowing when,
The road was getting wider then it had ever been.

The cares of life seemed lighter, not knowing how much less,
We take a turn there at the curve, a wider road we guess.
And though intentions were all good not knowing where it led,
We continued on the I-fall road, without knowing what’s ahead.

We thought that we’d been traveling up, not knowing , we couldn’t tell
That Satan lined the shoulders of I-fall Interstate so well.
Seventy miles with good intentions, not knowing the road had turned,
The next sixty miles were just confusion, this trip well earned.

In the last miles we had turned again, knowing full well our plight,
We thought that we could just hop on, wasn’t the narrow road in sight?
How we longed for the rougher road, but now our eyes were blind,
We only saw the wider road, the narrow one we could not find.

“Oh Lord,” we cry, “it wasn’t right, to travel along this way,
“Now we can’t see home again, the price too much to pay.
“No more is fun a pleasant word, that lingers on our lips,
“No more along the widened road do we want to take our trips.”

“My Child,” Christ said, “so good to hear your voice little one,
“Did you know even this, is work that I have done?
“Did you know you mean so much to me,
“I died on Calvary?”

“You never need to travel that widened road again
“If only you’ll remember where it is you have been.
“And study hard the map, I will write upon your heart,
“Soak in My Holy Word, and we will never part.”

No longer do we desire, to take I-Fall Interstate,
We’d rather follow Jesus and enter Heaven’s Gate.

A SPECIAL GIFT OF HIS

In Christ there is a small place within the walls of love
And in it you will find dear the showers from above.
In it there is peace, the kind that shows itself
In love to you, a special gift of His.

As The Eagles Fly

Like the Eagle be lifted, high above the clouds.
Our Saviour is the only one, who provides for us a shroud.
He covers with His wings, He took all the blame
And gave instead to us a very special name.

He gives us blessed joy, even in the heavy rains,
And place us once again upon the level plains.
So when we trust Him, He'll open up a way
Bringing joy to us in a wonderful array.

Dear Sister Marie, I wrote this poem right after I found my Savior and Lord. I'd have to read it almost every day to keep in tune with His desires. (This is a short version)
Satan is Working Over-Time

When we awake each morning, do we ever think to say,
“Good morning Lord, I love you, thank you for another day?”

Oh yes! We’ll say it, in another moment or two,
First brush my teeth, comb my hair, Oh! another chore I must do.

NOW! I could say, “Good morning Lord”, I have a moment now!
Oh wait! I must clean up this mess, ten more minutes I’ll allow.

But my stomach is growling and breakfast is near
I’ll first make it, then give the Lord good cheer…

Let the devil come in, each day at prime,
Don’t you know, SATAN IS WOKRING OVER-TIME.

We go through our long day at work or at play,
Breaking God’s law becomes an easier way.

There is never enough money to pay all our bills,
Backaches, sore throats, prescriptions and pills.

The Lord gave us all the good food we should eat,
Not included are eggs, milk, butter and meat.

No liquor, or cigarettes, no coffee or cake,
It shows in our health, what our body can’t take.

Cancer,  diabetes, and heart attacks number one,
All from the bad food we eat by the ton.

Read the news in the papers of the filth and the crime,
Can’t you see, SATAN IS WORKING OVER-TIME.

We drove the nails in His hands and His feet,
He need not suffer any more, nor mocked, nor beat.

Our plans for salvation must be started today!
Through His life and His death, Christ will show us the way.

So remember be strong, for Christ’s heavenly stairs we must climb,
Keep so very far from SATAN; WHO IS WORKING OVER-TIME.

God bless us and guide us all every minute of every day till Jesus comes…..Ele Holmes

Dear Marie, I forgot to tell you what an inspiration your poems are to me. They are wonderful.  I will use them and send them to others.  I just finished frosting Jesus Birthday Cake which I have made for almost fifty years....for my babies and now my grandchildren and also in my cooking class with the church, so everyone will know what this great Holiday represents.

THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS
"For God so loved the world,
That He gave His only begotten Son"

If we could keep the Spirit of Christmas we hold so dear,
We'd be a little kinder, each day throughout the year.

May we find some time to give a smile of love this day,
To lend a hand to someone struggling with life's way.

If we could keep the Spirit which prompts our Christmas living,
We'd be tolerant of others, and a little more forgiving.

Fewer hearts would need be broken, more folks would wear a smile.
Not just because it's Christmas, but each day would be worthwhile.

If we could keep the Spirit of Chritmas throughout the year,
We truly then would honor the Saviour we hold so dear.
Thank you Jesus Oh! so much, You are this Spirit which lives today
Following your path we ask, to guide us all the way.

Let everyone know what Christmas means to you....and then take them to Calvary!  God Bless you.

Thank you Ele for your kind words and wonderful poems. They truly are a joy to read. Please give us more!    :)

I wrote a book I named Warmth in the Winter. Someday it may even get published.    :) Here is how I start it out. (It is a book of mostly my own poems)

          Stretching The Blessing

Just a  moment spent, with good wishes sent,
A time to say God Bless, thoughts to express.
Words of Cheer said, leaving no tears to shed,
Cheering those alone in life, accustom to strife.

Let’s not forget the lonely, in place of us only,
Let’s bring cheer to others, not just brothers.
Following Jesus walk, around the clock,
Just a word and smile, can lift their trial.

As we stretch out Christmas, let us be the isthmus
Every day we live, a connection we give;
Helping others meet their Creator, the One Greater
The One with True Love, the One we're in Awe of!

AS WINGS OF PRAYER

As the wings are risen
To take flight once again,
We think of wings risen
To comfort the hearts of men.

That awful time of temptation
Jesus was a victor true.
Just as the power that He had
Is given to me and you.

It's the time at the feet of God
That gave Jesus the power,
And it at the feet of God
We too gain help in that hour--

As the wings of prayer are risen
Is help completely given.
