here is Br Martin's reply using fastmail.

*********************
"Dear Ed Sutton and other brethren,
Christian greetings.
Am very sorry for not responding to your email in time. I could not
respond to your email as I was travelling throughout Saturday night and
all day on Sunday to the meetings. I have no access to email but am
using a friend's phone to give you a feed back on the inquiries you've
requested.
About the donated computer I agree with you that it is not compatible
with our electric sockets here which possess an output of between 220 -
240 volts and with that kind of power you can be sure the whole thing
would blow up unless we undergo extra costs of buying a power regulator
which I don't think at this stage is advisable since its very expensive.
Another thing is that all electronics are not tax exempt in my country.
Even if you write in block letters "not for sale" "gift/present" you
will still be taxed at very high rates almost the same price of the
computer in the US. Remember we've not included shipping and handling -
in short its cheap to buy a computer system, printer, projector, public
address system and speakers here in Kenya than sending them.
About international money orders and/or checks, it takes 28 days to cash
an international check or money order here in my country and this has to
be done from the capital City Nairobi and not in Meru where I live, and
by that time the service charges will be higher than those they charge
you at western union. It happened once that a certain lady from
Tennessee sent me a 250 dollar check but it proved difficult cashing it
as the funds were needed urgently that I sent it back to the US for her
to cash it and send it via western union. So, I strongly recommend WU to
you though I know they charge high rates, still its the safest way so
far and very convinient since I can collect wired money from any western
union offices countrywide. All I need is a National Identity Card, the
Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN - issued at WU offices) and the
answer to secret question.
About my addresses - Change of premises does not affect the change of
address atleast not for my country. We don't get mail delivered at our
door steps unless its a courier service. You personally have to collect
your mail at the post office with your National Identity card. So what
happens is that whenever I open my post office box and someone has sent
me a parcel I find a card directing me to collect my parcel from the
counter but normal letters are put there. So my moving out to a new
house does not affect my address.
So whether you are sending money via WU or sending me a book or any
parcel please use the following address its safe.
Name: Martin Rutere Kiogora
Address: P.O Box 2825(we don't have long numbers or street numbers)
Postal Code:60200
Town/City: Meru
Country: Kenya
Now here is how you can wire your support via western union. If you
don't get the process feel free to visit any western union office and
they will assist you but for now here is how.
At the western union offices you will be required to give or fill in the
following information in a form.
Name of the recipient: Martin Rutere Kiogora
Address of the recipient: 2825
Postal code: 60200
Town/City: Meru
Province/State: Eastern Province
Country: Kenya
Security question: Ellen White's husband?
Secret answer: James White
In the form you will also be requested to give your information -
address and state etc.
You will then be issued with a special number which will be used to
activate the account when I go to collect money at the western union
offices. I must give three things to the western union offices here
1.My national ID card
2.Money Transfer Control Number (which you must send me)
3.Your name as you filled it in the form and the State and country from
which you are wiring the money.
I think with the above information is sufficient for you. Feel free to
ask more questions and please pass this information on to the rest.
Your Brother in Christ,
Martin Rutere Kiogora

This I received from Brother Martin Today.

Christian greetings!
Our meetings began on Sunday 9th March 2008 to Saturday 22nd March,
2008. I arrived at the venue of the meetings safely and secure on 9th
March and immediately began our first meeting. The attendance on the
first few days was not all that encouraging but we still went ahead
with our meetings undeterred by the low attendance.
In the second week when we often preach about the testing truths about
the sabbath, sanctuary, state of the dead etc the attendance to our
meetings increased instead of declining. We praised our heavenly
father for this as we took the advantage of this turn out to fasten
the minds of our hearers with the truth as it is in Jesus.
Our meetings were not without event but the Lord won each battle the
devil laid in our way for us. I remember vividly how one evening after
the meetings when we went to sleep I heard footsteps and a knock at
the door of our room and when I opened the door I found no one. I went
back to sleep but then again the steps came back and more vigorously
than before, I tiptoed to the door and like lightning opened the door
and again believe it or not I found no one. It was strange because
when I opened  the door the footsteps ceased immediately I did not
hear any fainting running steps as I should. Its then that I realized
that I was dealing with spirits or jeans because that part of the
country we were in is famed for black magic and sorcery(People don't
walk at night in this area I was later informed). When I realized this I closed the door
after this I went down on my knees and there and then prayed and went
back to sleep. The knocks persisted but I was not moved an inch and I
slept like a baby knowing that my Saviour was watching after me. I can
attest that these events happened on a daily basis until the day we
closed the meetings and at the same hour. I tried to inquire from our
immediate neighbors about this visits and knocks, and can you believe
they laughed at us and told us in the face that the owner of the house
we had rented had "protected" his property and that the jeanies that
were troubling us were his. We were very saddened and planned to visit
his home not very far from our place of residence, but due to our
tight schedule we did not manage it. Later on the last Sunday when we
were packing our things as we prepared ourselves to travel back home someone
approached us and told us that this Landlord   had sent him to
inform us we can come and collect some fruits from his farm but then
again we refused since we did not trust him. There is no way we could
lead ourselves to temptation - this man had tried to disrupt our
meetings through his jeans for two weeks how do we know that  he is
not now after us so we declined the offer and told the messenger that  we
had to catch up a bus early.
It was an experience I shall not forget, but the good news is not how
the devil disrupted our meetings in succession but the good news is
that   some 15 adults - 11 of them students from a nearby Technical
Training institute joined the faith. They attended our nightly
meetings each day without fail and when we realized that they were
being harassed by thugs on their way back to the institute after the
meetings we provided security by asking the church members from the
area to escort them back- us also included. All our meetings were well
attended and the Lord gave us the fruits. It is true that the gospel
of Christ must advance and the gates of hell cannot prevail against it so
brothers and sisters what are you waiting for? Go out in faith
believing and trusting that He who has called you is greater than him
who rules this world and so spread everlasting gospel to every nook
and cranny, in safe places and in dangerous places in season and out
of season.
This and the events of the last month when my house was broken into
and all my belongings taken have served as ways of strengthening my
faith. This meetings were opposed from onset in that the devil thought
by taking the little possessions I had on this earth he was going to
distract me from holding the meetings, but I still went ahead with my
plans, then he brings another problem - lack of money to hold the
meetings and I still carry on with my plans and believe it or not the
Lord provides the means just when we really need it most and then the
devil tries another one through his agent spirits and still the Lord
Jesus wins.
That is why in every letter I send you I request for prayers that if
at all you have nothing to offer or have something to offer please
keep me and this work in your prayers.
I will conclude this brief report with a few request of the things
that  I really need as of present.
As you are aware I need a new public address system for preaching.
Hiring is very expensive and so it is good that we sacrifice a little
more to find replacement of this equipments even if it means
purchasing one thing at a time. Another thing is that I really need
the means to move the little things that were left to a better and
safer house, this includes putting on metallic doors and good locks to
the house I will be  moving to. I need another computer for preparing
my sermons and study- it doesn't have to be a laptop - desktop
computers are the cheapest and easiest to find in my country not to
mention easy to maintenance. I know by this time you must wondering
where all that money would come from, but I know one thing that the
Lord will provide even if that involves waiting. So please do whatever
the Lord impresses in your heart - it might be microphones, or might
also be the amplifier or any other need. Please pray about it.
Thank you and may the good Lord bless and keep thee. My next meetings
begin on Monday 31st March and will run for two weeks and you need not
to worry for the meetings are all fully catered for by a local church
all that I may need is bus fare from my house to the meetings.
Your Brother In Need,
Martin Kiogora Rutere

From Martin,

Dear  Brother Richard & Sister Glass,
Christian greetings!
Below is a brief report of God's providence in the just concluded two week April meetings. Our meetings began on 30th March 2008 and run for two weeks to end on Saturday 12th April, 2008. The venue of the meeting was at Kwa Kamau village market on the highway side of the North Frontier tarmac road. Our first days were without hitches but then on the third day the devil began his attacks, the member of the church who had promised to support the meetings with gasoline for running the power generator - since this place has no electricity power - suddenly changed his mind and said he had no funds. It came to us as a surprise but we purposed in our hearts that we were not going to call off the meetings on the third day. Its then that the Lord made a way through a sister from Florida (USA) for us to obtain gasoline to run the generator for the two weeks of the meetings. Then before we could recover from this the same day this brother withdrew his aid some other two members began a plot to have the meetings cancelled saying that members were not ready at the moment to attend the meetings and help in house to house visitation. We tried to figure out the was the reason for this and after some brainstorming we found that the two influential members who were calling off the meetings were business people and that the reason why they were against the meetings is because they were going to record losses if they attended and supported our meetings. So they hatched the plot to call off the meetings but then again God intervened and opened the eyes of the other church members such that the members told them in the face that they can continue with their business and let others who have the Father's business at heart continue with the work. The Lord through His providence made sure that we lacked nothing in the two week series. And so it is that on the day of closing the meetings some 13 souls were won for Christ. You could see the astonishment on the faces of those who were opposing the meetings. We praised God for this and encouraged other members to never give up so easily.
Its not the first time the devil has used this avenue to attack the messengers of truth, he has always worked from within and outside of us to accomplish his purpose. Thanks for prayers of all godly men everywhere who prayed for this meetings.
These events have served to increase my faith in God and in His mercy and love. Just when we need Him most He's there for us. Please pray for people everywhere who are spreading the word of God to every nook and cranny they meet face to face with forces of darkness. As they move by faith and not by sight they need your prayers most as they seek to bring souls into knowledge of present truth.
You can  work in your town, village and neighbourhood spreading the everlasting gospel and the Lord will reward your efforts if you step out by faith believing and trusting that He who is in you is greater than him that is in the world.
Thank you very much pray that the Lord may give me a public address system that I can call my own and hold meetings when I feel like.
Your Brother In Christ
Martin

A big "thank you!!" to all who responded to our request to help Brother Martin with evangelism in Kenya.

A note from Brother Martin:
*********************************************

Dear remnant-online community,

I write to thank you for your continued prayers and support, it is really encouraging to have friends like you write me to inquire how am faring. I must say I find in this community brothers and sisters who have the work of God in their hearts. Thank you very much.
I have not yet recovered my stolen things but this hasn't stopped from stepping out in faith to evangelize those surrounding me. The cops here wanted me to bribe them before they could begin investigation on the theft  but I could not bulge - so it follows that no one is investigating the matter but I know with God on my side I will survive this evil and even greater that the enemy will lay on my way.
I received the wire sent me by the moderator of this forum and I have used it to pay for my house rent and buy food to last me for the next two weeks (by the way food prices and gas prices have almost doubled up after the election crisis that hit my country early this year). My gratitude to you all who have given anything in support of my work.
Attached to this mail are photos of the latest meetings where 8 souls surrendered their lives to Christ - you see not even the gates of hell can prevail against the gospel of Christ for He is mighty to save. Amen
Thank you and may the good Lord bless and keep you and please write back when you have the time.

Your Brother in Christ,
Martin Kiogora Rutere

Dear Sister Glass and Brother Richard,
Christian greetings. Its been a while since I last wrote you. I have been sick and diagnosed of malaria fever that struck me early last month. Since the sickness I have been weak and bedridden but thank God am now out of danger. I could have communicated to the forum but then I no longer have access to internet since my computer got stolen and so I depend on cybercafe's to write emails.
Inform other members in the forum if you can and please ask them to pray for me as this disease has kept in and out of hospital since 1996.
Thank you very much and God bless you,
Your Brother,
Martin Kiogora Rutere.

These are some of my favorite missionaries. They were kind enough to let me stay with them in Atlanta during the General Conference Session. The little one, Josiah, has never lived in the United States. His home is in Thailand where he, his brother, sister, mother, and father have dedicated their lives to spreading the gospel to those who have never heard it. Let us keep them in our prayers.
