Matthew ch 5:
1     ¶ And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
2     And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
3     ¶ Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4     Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5     Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6     Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7     Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8     Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9     Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
10     Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11     Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12     Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
13     ¶ Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Jesus is longing to see this implanted & imparted into us all, we ought to unwrap His sermon and examine what, where, why, how, and put it to use.

   There can be no growth or fruitfulness in the life that is centered in self. If you have accepted Christ as a personal Saviour, you are to forget yourself, and try to help others. Talk of the love of Christ, tell of His goodness. Do every duty that presents itself. Carry the burden of souls upon your heart, and by every means in your power seek to save the lost. As you receive the Spirit of Christ--the Spirit of unselfish love and labor for others--you will grow and bring forth fruit. The graces of the Spirit will ripen in your character. Your faith will increase, your convictions deepen, your love be made perfect. More and more you will reflect the likeness of Christ in all that is pure, noble, and lovely.  {COL 67.3}

     "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance." Galatians 5:22, 23. This fruit can never perish, but will produce after its kind a harvest unto eternal life.  {COL 68.1}

     "When the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come." Christ is waiting with longing desire for the manifestation of Himself in His church. When the character of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim them as His own.  {COL 69.1}

     It is the privilege of every Christian not only to look for but to hasten the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, (2 Peter 3:12, margin). Were all who profess His name bearing fruit to His glory, how quickly the whole world would be sown with the seed of the gospel. Quickly the last great harvest would be ripened, and Christ would come to gather the precious grain.  {COL 69.2}
Grateful for Psalms 32 and Titus 2:10 - The divinity of Christ is acknowledged in the unity of the children of God.  {11MR 266.2}

The surest evidence is given that Jesus does not dwell in the heart if disappointment, or to be crossed, arouses the worst passions of the heart. The great lessons these dear souls are to learn if they would be Christlike is how to keep Jesus in the heart and ever seeking earnestly to subdue self and to glorify God in the everyday life. {Ms2-1875}
This is the secret of success in perfecting Christian character and is the only hope of their final salvation. ….... {Ms2-1875}

example of exposition style discussion to uncover what the Bible & SOP say under the surface.

 As a SOP search ( And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him )  ='s 6 published SOP hits  &   0 in unpublished.

1.  {CTr 240.2-240.6}  Christ’s sermon on the mount was designed to enter into our everyday life. The commandments are so broad that they take hold of even our thoughts. But how few take heed to the words of our Saviour! ..........We must not be under anyone’s banner but Christ’s.—Manuscript 45, 1886. .......The soul must be infused with the Spirit of the great Teacher if the mind would penetrate into the deep things of God.

Divine Love and benevolence opens more than our heart it also opens our mind and intellect.

2.   {BEcho, May 15, 1892 par. 1-10}   The secrets of union with God and His Spirit and Power and what stands in our way that we are blind to.

3.  His deeds of sympathy in restoring the sick to health had aroused a deep interest in his work, and had prepared the people to listen to his words.  {RH, July 23, 1914 par. 7-10}   Actual tutorial how to imitate His methods.

4.  As far as possible we should try to bring before us the scene of our Saviour's labors,.......The Lord does not design that we shall ever........  {ST, May 9, 1892 par. 1-9}   God wants us to do something, and also He never intends that we do.....

5.   {WR, September 8, 1909 par. 1-12}   .......   till the very close of time. Therefore you need to ........

6.       {SpTB19 38.3 - 39.1}   Jesus's prior medical missionary work caused lots of people to want to hear Him, so He had them sit down on a grassy hillside of a mountain - and there was given The Sermon on The Mount.
Grateful for Psalms 32 and Titus 2:10 - The divinity of Christ is acknowledged in the unity of the children of God.  {11MR 266.2}

Amen, Ed.  It is by beholding that love that we are converted in heart and mind.
Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.
