Mom is getting kinda wet but doesn't seem to be bothered much by it.

A good bath cannot hurt. Probably a good thing for Spike that he only has one sibling. However, it appears like there is enough food there to feed several nests of eaglets. Apparently, lack of food was not the problem but the bullying.

I was having trouble this morning telling the difference between Spike and Jr.  After awhile it became apparent. Jr is the active one. He eats more and talks more. Long after the little one settled down, Jr was chirping away and standing up.  Dad was attempting to feed him, but Jr was full, yet he was making a racket. Finally Dad moved in and covered them up. That quieted things down.

Mom is looking not just wet anymore but drenched and there appears to be even more food this morning.

Tornadoes lashed Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida, destroying homes and businesses. The deaths occurred when mobile homes were destroyed in Louisiana and Mississippi, officials said. Meteorologists said the storm system could hit Alabama, Georgia, the Carolinas and Virginia later on Wednesday.  source

There was heavy rain, flood warnings were posted. There have been and are tornado warnings in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida.  Night temps have  been in the 50s, but tomorrow and Thursday nights they will dip below freezing. Precipitation is likely over by tomorrow and sun returning some on Thurs and full sun on Friday, with the cold nights. With a light coats, the eaglets will be happy to stay under the wings of an eagle.

It will do no good to post a picture of the nest now, it does not show the movement of the nest. The wind is blowing hard and the nest is moving a lot. You can get dizzy just watching it. Mom's feathers have dried and she does not appear to be sea-sick.  :)  The eaglets are very quiet.

Take a look at the approach cam view and you will see how much the tree is moving.

Still appears to be a breezy day for our eagle family.

Been watching the chicks get fed, for awhile the bigger chick got alot, then the smaller chick was fed plenty, then if neither chick could swallow the bite, the parent would swallow it, then the parent would cut bites up for the chicks.   Feeding them at this stage of development is a lot of work to get the food in, but keep the bites small enough for them to swallow, and patiently repeat the process over and over and over.

Yes I am starting to grasp the lesson.  Provide plenty of food, small bites, frequent feeding, assess the development, help them with chewing and swallowing by cutting bites to size, keep sharp bones away from little throats, watch the eyes glaze over and get full tummy sleepy, stop cramming food, eat yourself, keep them warm and safe, give time enough time to work, keep the nest clean and repaired.

Yes, Jim, Jr. is growing rapidly. The little one eats a lot less and is not as large. But, he is not getting beat up.   :)

There is a very short piece and pictures on the eagle website about mom and dad having to run off two other eagles yesterday.

Great photos of Dad running off the second juvenile.

Look at the size of eaglets!  Eating Mom and Dad out of nest and home!

It must be chilly there today. Father or mother, who ever it is, is trying to waddle around and cover the eaglets by spreading themselves over them. That appears a bit of a trick to cover them and not crush them. Apparently the wind has subsided.
