GC V.P.s
« on: July 05, 2015, 05:43:05 PM »
A large number of General Conference Vice Presidents are retiring, and the Administration has requested lowering the number of VPs from nine to six.

The nominating committee sent these names to the delegates:

Guillermo Biaggi, Thomas Lemon, Geoffrey Mbwana, Abner De Los Santos, Ella Simmons, and Artur A. Stele

There was a motion to return the names. The motion failed. Discussion continues, but no vote had been taken before the meeting was adjourned.

It will be interesting to see if these nominations pass. Tom Lemon is the current president of the Mid-America Union. That is the first union to vote to pass WO, this was done by their union executive committee not the constituency. This is what he said after that vote:

“Nobody planned for this,” said Thomas L. Lemon, president of the union. “Without any expectation, the subject of ordaining women came up. In the ensuing discussion a consensus formed that gender should not disqualify any future candidate recommended by local conferences for ordination. The committee also recognized the authority of the world church and the need for harmony across the various administrative levels of the Seventh-day Adventist faith community. ... To me, this means that we will no longer allow gender to prejudice decisions about candidates brought to this body for consideration." Source.

Yes, somebody planned for this and it was not the Lord. Interesting how this just popped up out of nowhere kind of like the golden calf . Interesting as well that a consensus formed but it was not said that a consensus was formed based off of the study of the Bible.

How long before these same people say, " to me, this means that we will no longer allow sexual orientation/ preference to prejudice decisions about candidates brought to this body for consideration."  Some have already said that.... before they left the church.

The actions of this union president, inspired other church leaders to also rebel against the authority of the General Conference in session.

The nominating committee report was held up yesterday. Elder Wilson just told the session that those same names are being submitted to the Session. The vote will soon take place.

An objection has been raised about the number of names. It was defeated.
