New Hymns
« on: March 14, 2015, 02:41:49 PM »
Utilizing the melody of the hymn, "My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less," this hymn reflects the truth given in Desire of Ages 676.4, "When we live by faith on the Son of God, the fruits of the Spirit will be seen in our lives; not one will be missing." Tracing the fruits of the Spirit revealed in Galatians 5:22-23, and also incorporating the truth of Revelation 3:20 expressive of Christ's outside-the-heart location when we sin against Him, this hymn is shared with the desire that it will be a blessing to share the gospel truth that to have Christ abiding in the heart means the experience of the new heart (cf. Ezekiel 36:26), from which will flow by the Holy Spirit the full array of the fruits only possible when we abide. May this be our experience, brothers and sisters in Christ!

"No Fruit We'll Lack As We Abide."

His Spirit gives us His own love
That we may be born from above
The joy of Him within our hearts
As we in Christ now live our parts

REFRAIN
No fruit we’ll lack as we abide
Within our hearts Christ shall reside
Within our hearts Christ shall reside

The peace of Christ has come to dwell
To calm our fears, our sins to quell
He helps us now to patient be
As we from haste have been set free

REFRAIN

The kindness of our Savior dear
That His own life may now appear
His goodness like a mighty stream
Makes heaven real—not just a dream

REFRAIN

His faithfulness we shall possess
As we wear Christ’s own righteousness
His gentleness constrains the soul
As we exude His self-control

REFRAIN

His fruit remains a perfect whole
So Christ is seen within the soul
Like light containing ev’ry hue
The fullness now of Christ in you

REFRAIN

Yet if by sin we grieve the Lord
Return again and heed His word
His knock and voice without you’ll hear
Let Christ within your heart to cheer

REFRAIN

Against this fruit there is no law
For Christ in you will others draw
By freedom in obedience
A living-faith experience

REFRAIN

May God bless you all.

In Christ,

Sean

"The Way We Rest" composed by Sean Brizendine to the glory of God.  These words can be sung to the melody of "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross," SDAH #155 (or #154); may you be blessed in finding true rest in active service in God's will. "The heart that rests most fully upon Christ will be most earnest and active in labor for Him" {Steps to Christ, 71.1}. Within this active Christian experience, "the fruits of the Spirit will be seen in our lives; not one will be missing" {The Desire of Ages, 676.4}, much in the way that light streaming from the sun contains every color of light, since "God is light" (1 John 1:5), the true "Sun of righteousness" (Malachi 4:2). Other Scriptural allusions include Colossians 3:1-2 and John 14:3. God bless!

The way we rest in endless life
Is active warfare 'mid the strife
Through battles waged and vict'ries won
All praise resounds unto God's Son

The gospel call comes to the heart
His grace constrains true faith to start
God's Spirit gives us this new birth
To raise our thoughts from things of earth

The evidence of this heart-change
God's Spirit fruits like light's whole range
Within the heart He comes to dwell
Revealing Christ, Immanuel

The peace of God is greater still
Than all we know of good or ill
Our Savior now prepares a place
Where we may dwell saved by His grace

"When we live by faith on the Son of God, the fruits of the Spirit will be seen in our lives; not one will be missing." {The Desire of Ages, 676.4}

Very nice, Sean.  These are indeed beautiful hymns that give glory to God and His truth.
Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.

The Lord has been blessing me with new hymns that I am constrained to share.

Based on the melody of SDAH 554, "O Let Me Walk With Thee," the following song is based on the Lord's prayer.

It is entitled, "Lord Jesus, Teach Us How to Pray."

Lord Jesus, teach us how to pray
Our Father's name is hallowed alway
Your kingdom come, Your will be done
In heav'n as we as under the sun
Our daily bread You hold in store
To receive and give, we ask for more

Lord, may our prayers expressive be
Of humble, childlike piety
Forgive us, Lord, as we forgive
May we as channels of mercy live
As beacons of Your saving grace
For we in love behold Your face

Lord, keep us from temptation's path
Yes, shield us now from Satan's wrath
Deliver us from sin and shame
Dwell in our hearts, reveal Your name
Within our hearts You come to abide
The Spirit's fruits, not one shall hide

To You be all the glory and praise
We truly love You, Ancient of Days
Your kingdom Lord, of grace has come
Established by the power of the Son
We need Your love to finish the race
That we Your kingdom, Lord, may haste

May we reveal Your prayer to all
So all Your children may hear Your call
As our High Priest You make us a place
Where we shall dwell, transformed by grace
Yes, Jesus Christ is coming again
To God resounds unending "Amen"

May the Lord bless you as you sing and share this in your churches or with whomever the Lord impresses you. God gave this hymn to me as I was heading back from doing some pastoral visitation in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where I am serving as a pastor, and I find the Lord often encourages me by giving me new songs and hymns to share with others. God bless you. Be of good courage! Jesus is coming again!!!

Another hymn the Lord helped me to compose is as follows, entitled, "As We Behold the Lamb of God." It is based upon the melody from SDAH 585, "When Christ Was Lifted From the Earth." May God bless you as you sing!

As we behold the Lamb of God
His mercy, truth and love
We walk by faith where angels trod
In Christ, reborn from above

The Holy Spirit shall reside
As we surrender all
The Spirit's fruits are fully supplied
We live by Christ's heart call

Unchanging love and lasting joy
With peace unparalleled
A patience that no wait can cloy
With kindness hurts are healed

By goodness and true faithfulness
Christ reigns, enthroned within
By self-control and gentleness
We are set free from sin
"When we live by faith on the Son of God, the fruits of the Spirit will be seen in our lives; not one will be missing." {The Desire of Ages, 676.4}
