That's an interesting; and, I think, rather bold declaration (assumption?) for you to make, Richard. How can you think, much less say, that the "...righteousness which Christ ...imputes to the repentant believer...is not enough for justification...."? That's not how my Bible or SOP reads. I'm certain I must be misunderstanding your comment.
-UNLESS, you're including the idea that:
The faith that does not produce good works does not justify the soul. “Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only” (James 2:24). “Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness” (Romans 4:3)....

God shows his love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we are now justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him ("Christ in you, the hope of glory "(see Colossians 1:27) from the wrath of God. Romans 5:8, 9, RSV.

...By obedience they are made partakers of the divine nature. The doing of the living principles of the law of God makes them one with Christ. And He has pledged Himself to raise them up at the last day. Because He lives they will live also. He will raise them up as a part of Himself. Manuscript Releases Volume Twenty-one [Nos. 1501-1598], p. 347.4
Both the death of Christ AND the LIFE of Christ speak of the blood:
...if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. Romans 5:10 God told Cain, ...the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground. Genesis 4:10 Able uplifted the Law when he brought the Lamb for sacrifice, unlike Cain; thus, Able, in love, condemned Cain, the sinner. Able had the blood, the LIFE, the works, of (God), by faith. (see Revelation 6:9, 10
John 6:
53 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
...It is by receiving the life for us poured out on Calvary’s cross, that we can live the life of holiness... The Desire of Ages, p. 660.4
Christ must dwell in that man’s heart, just as the blood must be in the body and circulate there as a vitalizing power. I can not on this subject be too urgent. I can not press it home to you too strongly, that you shall not trust in self.—Letter 7, 1886 (April 26, 1886, to J. H. Kellogg).
Every sin must be renounced as the hateful thing that crucified the Lord of life and glory, and the believer must have a progressive experience by continually doing the works of Christ. It is by continual surrender of the will, by continual obedience, that the blessing of justification is retained.
A New Life (Revival and Beyond), p. 27.1
Those who are justified by faith keep the Law of God:
Those who are justified by faith must have a heart to keep the way of the Lord. It is an evidence that a man is not justified by faith when his works do not correspond to his profession. James says, “Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was his faith made perfect?” (James 2:22). A New Life (Revival and Beyond), p. 27.2
...The unconditional pardon of sin never has been, and never will be. Such pardon would show the abandonment of the principles of righteousness, which are the very foundation of the government of God. It would fill the unfallen universe with consternation...
