Mark W,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. The very first chapter of that little book Steps to Christ opens with "God is Love".  I have never heard of anyone using Malachi 1:3 as an excuse to hate someone. I certainly belief you and could see why a person would want to justify their own hate by this text. God hates the sin but loves the sinner.  "Men hate the sinner, while they love the sin. Christ hates the sin, but loves the sinner. This will be the spirit of all who follow Him. Christian love is slow to censure, quick to discern penitence, ready to forgive, to encourage, to set the wanderer in the path of holiness, and to stay his feet therein."  {DA 462.4}

"Christ has borne with the erring through all their manifest perversity and rebellion. His love for the sinner does not grow cold, his efforts do not cease, and he does not give him up to the buffeting of Satan. He has stood with open arms to welcome again the erring, the rebellious, and even the apostate. By precept and example, teachers should represent Christ in the education and training of youth; and in the day of Judgment they will not be put to shame by meeting their students, and the history of their management of them."  {CE 25.3}

These statements should give us all hope about the great God we serve.
Jesus looked upon the distressed and heart burdened, those whose hopes were blighted, and who with earthly joys were seeking to quiet the longing of the soul, and He invited all to find rest in Him.  {DA 328.3}

Amen, Al! It is called grace and without it none could be saved. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him." Romans 5:8,9. Because Christ loved us while we were yet sinners, and we have been changed by that love, we will saved from the punishment that will come to those who do not accept that love. What a God we serve. We do not have to face His wrath, Jesus took it upon Himself when coming to this dark spot in the universe, a helpless babe subject the weakness of humanity, to fight the battle of life as we must fight it at the risk of failure and eternal loss!! Jesus took the wrath of God upon Himself for every human that would ever live, but those who do not accept that love and are changed by it will face the wrath of an offended God. It is indeed His justice. Death will be a merciful act, but the punishment before death is without mercy. We as Seventh-day Adventists understand and teach that the mercy of God does not set aside His justice. There is nothing merciful in the following verses. There is seen not one bit of love for those who have trampled on the grace of God and in the process have hurt, pillaged, raped, and murdered those for whom Christ died, Satan being the instigator.

Revelation
19:17   And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
  19:18   That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all [men, both] free and bond, both small and great.
  19:19   And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
  19:20   And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
  19:21   And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which [sword] proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.
Jesus receives His reward when we reflect His character, the fruits of the Spirit......We deny Jesus His reward when we do not.

and the mercy and glory of God will be revealed in the other feast. How God always contrasts the two!? And gives us a choice. So which feast for you? Choose wisely!
8: And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
9: And he says unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he says unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
  -- Revelation of John 19:8-9 (ukjv)
Please plan to attend this marriage.
I mean put a note, a reminder, a foot note... Whatever it is that you do to get reminded that this is the supper that we are to attend! Not the other one! Oh, and do not forget to buy nay obtain the official dress lest you find yourself bound by your hands and feet and thrown out of the feast

12: And he says unto him, Friend, how came you in here not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
13: Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
  -- Matthew 22:12-13 (ukjv)
Let us be steadfast and focus on the Lamb that washes away all sin.

Revelation 2:6: 6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

who are the Nicholaitans?
clearly God hates evil deeds, He hates false doctrine
when the Lord commands us to do things and we don't do we vex Him?
Does He not get angry? We have health reform and the world is proving it day by day
but what do we do? Do we come out strongly and quote EGW in relation to the so called.scientific findings?

The Nicolaitan's were those who say that the law of God is of none effect. "For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ." Jude 1:4. There are those today that teach that God's law was abolished at the cross and that we now live under grace thus they destroy God's law and are guided by their own hearts. This is very similar to the teaching of the Nicolaitan's.

But your main point is well taken. God hates sin and false teachings. Satan is doing everything he can to misrepresent God. And there will come a time when those that cling to sin will be destroyed with it.
