CNN: "This tornado is so big it doesn't look like a tornado." Reports are it is 2 miles wide. http://www.cnn.com/2013/05/20/us/severe-weather/index.html?hpt=hp_inthenews

Moore and Newcastle, Oklahoma suffer extensive damage.  Wind speeds estimated to be possibly from a EF4 or 5.  Witness who lost his home says that what he sees is similar to what he saw in Joplin when it was hit by a EF5.

It has been confirmed by the National Weather Service that the tornado was at least an EF4 with wind speeds up to 200mph.  The damage done is greater in coverage than in Joplin. Entire neighborhoods were flattened. It is thought that over 20 children lost their lives in a school that was devastated. The death toll is known to be eight but will rise sharply as rescue workers are able to get into all the areas hard hit. Early warning undoubtedly saved hundreds of lives. There was sixteen minutes warning given.

This appears to be one of the most devastating single tornadoes to ever hit the US. It has been estimated that 60 square miles has been hit by the tornado. It is a sign of the disasters there were prophesied to come just before the end. We understand that this will be seen as the result of a nation that has turned away from God. Yes, it is true that God has been removing His protecting hand, but it is not God that has caused these "natural" disasters. There is another power that is setting the stage for his last great deception.

The extent of the damage continues to reveal how powerful the tornado was. It was a slow moving twister that increased the amount of damage. The death toll has increased sharply to over 50. source

What could have been and appeared to be, a highly deadly tornado, is now seen to have caused less than half the deaths reported last night. We praise God for this. The confirmed death toll from the Oklahoma medical examiner was lowered to 24. Authorities cautioned that the toll could change again.  source

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Moore appears to be on the other side of town.

Sometimes we find ourselves in cars waiting on the appointments our passengers have. Anticipating such a wait, I took along my favorite book of inspiration, The Ministry of Healing, and found this on page 434 from various chapters of Job:

"Great things doeth He, which we cannot comprehend.
      For He saith to the snow,
      Fall thou on the earth;
      Likewise to the shower of rain,
      And to the showers of His mighty rain.
      He sealeth up the hand of every man,
      That all men whom He hath made may know it....
      He spreadeth abroad the cloud of His lightning:
      And it is turned round about by His guidance,
      That they may do whatsoever He commandeth them
      Upon the face of the habitable world;
      Whether it be for correction, or for His land,
      Or for loving-kindness, that He cause it to come.

It reminded me of this horrific event and others like them.

The National Weather Service upgraded the Oklahoma tornado to an EF5 at its highest point. Wind velocity exceeded 200 mph. The 1999 EF5 that hit Moore, had the highest winds ever measured on planet Earth, 300mph. source

Already I hear shouts of "we'll rebuild!!" and I've heard it many times before from tornado alley or the flood plains. Now obviously, I must be overlooking something but isn't it extremely foolish to rebuild only to be hit again? am I not seeing or missing something?

I see it as a cry of hope. Poor people. Pretty soon there will be no safety to be found. Jesus is our only safety and hope, not a geographic location. Worse than tornadoes are on the horizon. Matthew 24.

Yes, that is right, Mimi.  We are going to have earthquakes in places where there has never been an earthquake. We are going to have tornadoes where there have never been tornadoes. These are not "natural disasters", but the actions of a long thought out plan to deceive the world about the character of our God and the day of worship.

Find what appears to be the safest place on earth, and there will be no safety outside of Christ. This is a spiritual battle. "Satan is watching his chances to secure souls to himself and unless we have God's protection, he will break forth in violence and his angels will be set at work to do some marked mischief. The terrible tornadoes, the railroad disasters, the calamities at sea, are because of Satan's wrath. The Lord does not work a miracle to protect those who are constantly working against Himself and strengthening the power of darkness. And this is only the beginning. Their hearts will not repent because they are fully set in them to do evil and that continually. These disasters, which should make men afraid, are now regarded only by those who fear for their own personal safety, themselves and those connected with them." Letter 3a.

This isn't about the tornado that hit May 20th but the one that just hit last week....

The deadly tornado that plowed through an area near Oklahoma City last week was even larger and more powerful than previously estimated — a record 2.6 miles wide with winds that reached nearly 300 mph, just shy of the strongest winds ever measured.

"A 2 ½-mile wide tornado would not look like a tornado to a lot of people," Smith said, explaining that the twister would not have a tapered funnel and would instead resemble a dark cloud hanging below the horizon.

Wow! That's huge!!!

William Hooke, a senior policy fellow of the American Meteorological Society, said the continued growth of cities in tornado-prone areas makes it only a matter of time before another monstrous twister hits a heavily populated area.

"You dodged a bullet," Hooke said. "You lay that path over Oklahoma City, and you have devastation of biblical proportions.
