New Quake Shakes Tokyo
« on: March 15, 2011, 09:07:51 AM »
A strong 6.2 quake struck the Tokai area of Japan. It was shallow, only 10km deep. Japanese experts say it is not connected with the 9.0 quake. The Japanese have an added fear after the new quake. They have long been expecting the "big one", and they do not believe the 9.0 was it.  It is to come to the same area where the 6.2 just hit. But, the experts say the 6.2 is not the "big one".  Many are now thinking that the 6.2 may be a pre-shock to the "big one". source

Here is an explanation written before today's 6.2:

Japan (9.0) earthquake is a seismic curveball

This is looking like the Big One for Japan. But it's in the wrong place, seismically and bureaucratically. The gist is, Japanese geologists have long forecast a huge earthquake along the subduction zone southwest of Tokyo. It had a name -- the Tokai Earthquake -- even though it hadn't happened yet. But now the nation's largest earthquake (magnitude 9.0) has hit, and it's 231 miles northeast of Tokyo.

Does anyone deny that there is no coincidence in what is happening in Japan? There is something going on in Japan that is apparent to those who understand Bible prophecy. If the connection has not yet been made, read more:

"People have been fleeing to this area (where the new quake hit) thinking that they would get away from that active fault line, get away from the earthquakes and get away from the radiation possibilities," Johnson told CTV in a telephone interview from his hotel room in Shizuoka prefecture, less than 100 kilometres southwest of Tokyo.

"So right now we're thinking: 'Where can we go in Japan?'," he added, describing the doubts among those who joined the exodus from Tokyo earlier in the day.

"A lot of people left the city, including myself," Johnson said, explaining that many assumed the area around Japan's iconic Mount Fuji was safe.

"It's in a totally different part of the country than the other ones have been," he said.

Tokyo residents had been told Tuesday that the danger posed by radiation leaking from the Dai-ichi nuclear plant in the Fukushima prefecture some 240 kilometres northeast of the city was minimal.

But that didn't stop many from fleeing the densely populated metropolis, and did little to calm the panic among those who chose to stay.

Many stores have run out of radios, flashlights, candles, fuel cans, sleeping bags and other survival gear. Shops have also been cleared staple foods.

"People are getting angry when they go to stores now and can't see very basic things like bread or rice and that's in Tokyo," Johnson said, describing the panic buying he witnessed amongst people rushing to stock up on basic necessities.

Although the damage from the quake and tsunami that struck on March 11 was centered on four prefectures in the country's northeast, the repercussions continue to be felt around the country.

The Japanese are more disciplined than many other societies. Even without Christ, as a people they are polite and law abiding. There is very little crime in Japan. So, even with the great crisis, I don't think we shall see food riots. They are a very organized nation and even with such adverse conditions, they will feed their people.

CNN reported the same thing this morning. Even amid this unspeakable event, no one has heard a single complaint. They simply do not do it. It is not an honorable thing to do. They know as a group, everyone is in the same boat and they exhibit patience amid their trial. Quite an example for spoiled Americans!

As their world falls apart, they have need of God in a way they can understand. Let us continue to pray for the people of Japan.
